- How to mask exterior windows for painting (the quick way). In this diy how to I show you how to cover a window using a 3m handmasker and plastic masking, also known as masking film.
This simple method involves a 3m hand masker, a roll of 3m 20/20 masking tape, and some 3m 72 inch masking plastic to protect your windows from over spray while using an airless sprayer to paint your house.
House painting, whether exterior painting or interior painting, repaint or new, doesn't have to be hard.

Really great job.... seems like a lot of trouble but I guess we need to do it.
Thank you for this video!! Definitely faster than how i had in mind to do
You're so welcome!
Wish I could use this to actually winterize my windows!!
Good job . He did say like a pro , you cant work sloppy and fast with everything people
Thank you!
That's far from a pro at work..my 1st year apprentices tape better than this seasoned pro 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍👍👍
@@ger808😐
Where did you buy the plastic or does the plastic not have anything sticky on it and your just using the tape for the stickiness.
Just tape.
Just curious why you dont mask windows, spray trim, then come back and spray main body with a spray shield, mask trim where needed only then? Not saying you're doing it wrong. Every painter has his own angle of attack. But just curious what your process is for your usual exterior. And thumbs up on masking the soffit. Thats something I learnt on job one!
He's going to do the bands with a whizzy roller after body is spayed
What tape is this it seems like a good hold..

All the best
Don't you just love uneven ground when you're on a 26-foot extension?
For sure.
AT LEAST HE’S MASKING A LOT OF AT PEOPLE DON’T TAKE THE TIME TO DO IT AT ALL AND IF THEY DO IT’S TIME CONSUMING ANOT DONE CORRECTLY🤙🏻
Thanks. Yeah, no sense taping a clean straight line around the window if you're gonna be brushing the trim in anyway after spraying the body.
For sure.
Good , just a little slow . put two at bottom, then top pull down one motion . uneven ground is trouble
I think there wasn't too much wind that day to use too much pieces of tape. 🤔❓
Its not for the wind. Its to avoid over spray. That’s the whole purpose. The spray gun can blow the plastic away and then we got a problem.
And you homeowners wonder why it cost so much to paint your houses.
This is probably the fastest way!!!
Lots of great tips! Thanks!
I looked this up because I am slow but you’re probably slower than me
I'm actually really fast at this, was going really slow for the video.
This comment had me crying laughing 😂😂😂
@@MotivBeats Me too!
I guess I am doing it fast lol
That took forever haha
If ya taped up windows like that in Ireland for me u wouldn't last an hour on site 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍👍😝😝😝🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈
Thank you.
I don't think he wants to go to Ireland to work for a leprechaun.
Do you call this quick ?
No, it was meant to show people the process, not to break a record.
You’re really slow . I would have masked it already after the 3rd tape you put on the middle right
I was standing on a hill about to fall off the ladder and it was windy that day, but it got done. It usually takes me about an hour to mask an entire house. I was purposely going slow to show the process. Thanks for the comment!
Just watched the video and it wasn't windy, but none the less I went slow purposefully.
