Girl, that was the cutest reaction I've seen yet!
Reminded me of my mom and sister swooning to this song on the radio one afternoon back in 1965. I liked the song, but thought the way it affected girls was really "silly" back then. I was in the 4th grade.
Hundreds have covered this, just like Bobby did. But it's always been his song.
The original was from a really awful prison movie called Unchained. The movie was so bad they didn't even give the song a title, thus "Unchained Melody."
Little did anyone know it would become a staple "wishing song" for every soldier deployed overseas or guy locked behind bars desperately hoping their lady was still waiting for them.
Bobby sings this live, on TV, with no autotune or backup singers, hitting over 20 different notes throughout three separate octaves with perfect breath and armature control, diction and articulation.
Smooth, controlled and very very cool, ...just as though he were singing across a pillow to you alone.
I get why the gals all dig him so much now.
Try Hey Jude, by the Beatles.

I sang this to my wife at our wedding in 1983. She, however she said I murdered it. I'm guessing it's not a song for a baritone, she told me I was of better sticking to my drumming. I thought it was an appropriate song as I was in the Royal Marine Commandos, I had returned from the war for the Falkland Islands when I proposed, and now was shipping out to Sierra Leone two days later, so much for my attempt at being romantic. On the upside she liked me in my Dress Uniform, and having my comrades forming the sword tunnel helped.
I must have done something write because we're still together and she still puts up with my singing. With 4 children and 7 grandchildren, we got busy on 3 of our baby's when I was home, we adopted the young afghan woman and her 2 daughters at the end of 2015 after they saved my life in Afghanistan (a story for another time), and we are so much better for having them, we love all our family and that is our strength. I served my Queen and Country for 34 years in the Royal Marine Commandos and later in the British Special Forces, and then 2 years in hospital, and she stuck by me even though I'm mainly wheelchair bound now. We do actually have a song by Queen called "Your Me Best Friend", a very apt song as she has been my best friend since we were both 15.

@@MrsPenPal Thank you, here is a part of my family history.
My Father and Grandma were Berlin Jews who escaped Germany in 1937 leaving the bulk of the family in Germany, all but one died in the many Camps set up around eastern Europe. My Father joined up in 1938 and become an Anti Aircraft gun loader, he was lucky and escaped from Dunkirk. Before he knew it he was sent to Scotland and joined what was then just called Commandos. He finished a lifetime of service as a Colonel in Her Majesty's Royal Marine Commandos from 1940 till 1981. He retired in 1981 after Serving at NATO H.Q. in Brussels, Belgium. So I was an army baby, and always wanted to follow in my fathers and older brothers shoes.
I was born in Hong Kong, my Mother was part Chinese and died when I was 6. I grew up calling elderly women "Good Mother", which I always said to older women when I was sent to other Countries. When we moved to England, I found it hard to get used to the change in culture.
I met my wife and owner when we were at school, I fell in love with her at first sight, and we had our oldest daughter when we were just 16. I did any job I could to support my young family until I was 17. Two weeks after my Father retired he co-signed my paperwork for me to follow in the family tradition by joining Her Majesty's Royal Marine Commandos on my 17th birthday. Making me his 8th son to join the Royal Marine Commandos, and my older sister who had joined Royal Military Medical Corp as a ‎Trauma and General Surgeon who has, over the years, operated on me three times in my career. After 32 weeks of basic training, 16 weeks of Arctic and Survival training I was sent with part of my Regiment 42 Commando, to the Falkland Islands in 1982, when Argentina invaded the Falklands and other British territories in the South Atlantic. I was just 18 years old back then and it was the first time I was wounded. On June the 14th I sat on a pavement in capital, Stanley having my frozen, wet and shredded feet treated by a medic and a young local girl (about 12) when 3 of my brothers came and sat beside me. One of my brothers jabbed me in the ribs as we smoked, I felt a sharp pain, the medic checked my ribs and discovered I had been lucky and only received a graze from an enemy bullet. My brother started laughing, and told me I'd finally lost my virginity. That was the first time I was wounded.
I have served my Queen and Country on every Continent. My Regiment was in a refugee camp 85 at the height of the famine Ethiopia. We listened to Live Aid on the radio. We were surrounded be the horror of the Famine, but when Queen came on the radio those poor soles who were there amazed us and reacted in a very positive way. It was only then that it felt like the rich country's finally realised what was actually happening to these innocent people. I remember that a lot of us Royal Marine Commandos were crying watching some of the children dancing along, I'm teary eyed just remembering. I looked around at men I had fought alongside, who were tough, hardened Royal Marine Commando's who had fought a life and death war against Argentinian's for the Falkland Islands in 1982. By the end of Queen's set we were dancing with the children. It went along way to help build their trust in us. The famine is one of the worst memories I have. And I hate to say I've seen a hell of a lot worse.
I've was sent to fight in the Balkans and was in both invasions of Iraq and the war on "Terror". Multiple postings to Iraq, Afghanistan and other hot zones. Myself and a fellow old timer in the Royal Marine Commandos used to sing "Queen", "Electric Light Orchestra" and "Thin Lizzy" songs when we came under fire to calm the younger boys by taking their minds off the incoming fire, and yes they thought we were mad. After we had finished our assignment or patrol and we had returned to base, either in Iraq or Afghanistan, we would sing E.L.O.s' song "I'm Alive". I also sang it at his funeral which put as smile on his widow's face. On a different occasion when I was wounded, on 14 September, 2014 my son broke me out of military hospital to go to this concert because he knew I loved E.L.O. I served in the Royal Marine Commandos and British Special Forces for 34 years and have no regrets. My fellow old timer had been killed at the same time I was wounded on that occasion. At the time I was in the Special Forces we used to be dropped into regular outfits to keep us at full readiness, and back in the U.K. we worked in Hospitals to maintain our medical knowledge. So my son knew seeing E.L.O. in Hyde Park would give me a bit of a pick me up. He also did it again and took me to Glastonbury in 2016 on another occasion I didn't keep my head down and forgot to duck, a couple of months later I was told I would never be an "active" Trooper again.
After being declared fit at the end of 2014, I returned to my Regiment of "Irregulars" as we called ourselves, and we returned to Afghanistan in 2015. My team were patrolling the mountain villages along the border with Pakistan looking for Taliban smuggling routs. When we came under aggressive sustained fire. We managed to get the civilians inside and under cover while returning fire, and managed to call in for air and ground support. The village was being attacked on 2 sides so it made it easier for the 4 of us to defend using "fire and move", and the occasional grouping fire tactics. There were between 30 to 40 Taliban attacking, trying to press us harder, that's when I heard a crack followed by a ringing deafness. And at that moment my career as an active duty Trooper ended, apparently an Rocket Propelled Grenade round hit a wall 5 feet away from me and I was thrown through the air about 25 feet and I hit a wall. The woman of the house dragged me into her home as I was struck by 2 more rounds, and my legs and lower back were on fire. She is the bravest person I have ever known. Between her and her oldest daughter they kept me alive for 25 minutes until the area was reclaimed and made safe so a helicopter could come in and retrieve me. But all I remember about that was holding her hand and refusing to let go, so she and her 2 daughters were flown out with us.
There is a happy piece of news as to how I've ended up mainly wheelchair bound. The wonderful women who saved my life now lives here in the U.K. almost next door to us. If they had been left in Afghanistan the Taliban would have killed them after we had left the village. My Commanding Officer put a huge amount of pressure on our Ambassador and the Home Office to get them relocated to England, also my daughter and oldest son sponsored them. My amazing wife decided that adopting would let them know that they were part of our family. Now they live in a house 5 doors away from myself and the boss, erm my wife, and I am kept very much in check by my second daughter and my two new granddaughters, who have all changed their last names to match the rest of our family. I do have a lot of physical disabilities an suffer from P.T.S.D. and depression. At the start of 2015 I had 1 daughter, 2 sons and 4 grand children. When I was still going through long hospitalisations on many occasions and massive bouts of physical and mental pain I would always look towards my family for strength, and they always have given it to me. But thanks to the "big guy in the sky" as my father used to call God. I have the worlds greatest woman as my wife, I also now have 2 amazing daughters, 2 sons (who I will never let go to war) and 7 wonderful grandchildren who remind me how amazing life is everyday.
And even though I have a significant amount of physical pain that will never go away, and that's O.K. I'm used to it. The P.T.S.D and depression is the hardest to handle, but my family and music is always there.
A little bit more icing on the cake of life is that I took both my daughters to see E.L.O. (Electric Light Orchestra) at Wembley on the 24 June 2017. Now my daughters Dawn and Laaibah now the joy E.L.O. can put in your heart when you need it, plus the other 59,997 people who were there enjoyed it too. And I love annoying Laaibah by murdering Pashto and Dari when she tries to teach me better Afgan.
I sing to my wife every day and at night, the song I sing the most is called "My Love" by Paul McCartney when he was in "Wings". If you want to hear it, hears a link ruclips.net/video/ZmjN1O1ejS4/видео.html Also Alice Coopers two songs "You And Me" ruclips.net/video/WlxcI-Ejkbs/видео.html and "How You Gonna See Me Now" ruclips.net/video/X7jYw4VZC0c/видео.html because I was scared that my injuries might be too much for her to take on, but I could not have been more wrong. I even accidentally named my youngest granddaughter while holding her on the day she was born by singing Thin Lizzy's "Sarah" ruclips.net/video/z6ALdt53-_4/видео.html big OOP's. Music has and always been a big part of our lives and always will be.
My Father and Grandma always taught me never to hate anyone just because of their colour, religion or if they're gay. So for all our fellow citizens on our planet who are sharing these uncertain time's, though things seem and are almost unbearable with the terrible loss and suffering so many are going through, we as a human race will make it through the epidemic. We just can't loose our humanity.
And I am sending you love from my family and myself xxx

If you like this song (and honestly, who wouldn't?), you should check out these other Righteous Brothers songs, "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" and "Soul and Inspiration". Unchained Melody is a solo effort by Bobby Hatfield, but the other songs I suggested feature both "brothers", Bobby Hatfield (tenor) and Bill Medley (baritone). Their voices sound amazing by themselves, but even better together! Blue-eyed soul, at its finest! For another solo by Bobby, check out "Ebb Tide".

Whoever did the musical arrangement to this most beautiful of ballads has to be applauded. They made sure to have the violins be the focal point in this the best version of them all. With the late great Bobby Hatfield's high falsetto tenor voice adding the beauty and reverence to this masterpiece. It is no wonder after 60 years this version has become the quintessential version of them all. And people from all over the world are witnessing one of the greatest live performances that took place back in 1965 for the first time. The rest as they say is history...

This was absolutely the best reaction to this song. You waited until the end to say anything without the constant interruptions. I don’t know what happened but on every other video replay of this song with other reactions, this is the first one that had that end note perfect. I remember watching this back in the 60’s.I also enjoyed watching.
