You are a miracle worker! My Mom had this funny old saying - “ you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear.” However, she didn’t know anyone as skilled as you!
I'm not gonna say I'm glad you had a "brain fart" but thank you for keeping your misshaps in the video. As a beginner is very encouraging to see it's okay to.make mistakes ❤❤❤❤❤
Alexandra, I totally understand :) I think it is important to remember and remind ourselves that things happen :) I am glad it gave you some encouragement, by the way, I just posted the deep dive for this Jacket for Members - ruclips.net/video/oNHHQVLdTlQ/видео.html
You are an amazing seamstress. Thank you for teaching in these videos. And, thank you for not having annoying, distracting music while you are speaking.
Wow! I really like that combination of princess seam and pocket seam. It looks like a fancy sewing choice rather than a lack of fabric. I also like the shorter sleeves. The entire jacket has a designer look. Combined with the fabric, it is a work of art.
Irene, thank you so much! I tried to make it look intentional, to combine both - the need for this decision and the design. By the way, I just uploaded the Deep Dive for Members - here it is - ruclips.net/video/oNHHQVLdTlQ/видео.html
I think over if the things I love about your videos is that our styles overlap, but also diverge. I love the structure on that jacket, and that floral print is right in the with other things you have shown us. Me, I would have used a contrasting solid for the collar and maybe the pocket flaps (scrap denim maybe,?) to show them off. It was really fun to see a structured full garment come together from scraps and not look "scrappy". Thank you for sharing!
Lizzie, hello there :) I keep looking at it and thinking to myself - "oh wow, I actually managed to fit it in"... I still can't believe it, but I could not be happier with how it turned out. The flared cuffs had to go due to the lack of fabric... but maybe next time :)
For this jacket, the 3/4 sleeves look very intentional. I know that it would have looked just as good with the flared cuffs though. Job well done and mission accomplished. @@ThoughtfulCreativity 🌟🥇♥♥♥
Thank you, Carol! After all this, i do like the shorter sleeve and also I have a few simple tops that feature the same sleeve length - so that worked out.
I'm in awe of not just your abilities but your patience and tenacity in working out this massive puzzle 🧩. I've had a week of puzzles and an epic fail so I'm so glad you managed to create such a fabulous jacket after all that. Don't ever stop 🙏
Your creativity and ingenuity is inspiring! I'm really enjoying learning from your videos. You're so incredibly talented! Thank you for sharing the struggles as well, so we don't feel alone. :)
Thank you so, so much for kind words! I wish I could share the ENTIRE process, but then this video would be hours long :) and I truly hope that this ignites that sewing magic in you :)
Great job making this work. It looks great. Have you ever thought about making a leather jacket? Your ability to piece together a pattern like this is perfect for leather.
Courtney, yes, it is on my wish list :) I do have a pineapple leather I want to try my hand at, but it just comes a yardage, since it is man-made. One of these days - for sure! :)
Julia, sometime I don't know how I do it either, lol :) but seriously, half way through, after making that mistake, I thought it would be a no-go... it took every last bit of everything to make this happen, and I am happy I persevered
Thank you for "vloging" and sharing your mishap part. I find it very important and also useful to let us self taught sewists to see your whole process. 🫰
This video has inspired my to make a little jacket out of a meter of green wool I thrifted last year. I was going to make a pencil skirt but I think it will serve me better to have a little jacket
Your jacket is beautiful! Your creativity and your designing and sewing skills are awesome! I love your videos and all the work you put into the members’ perks. Thank you, Alisa! ❤
Love the fabric, the thinking process and the jacket and of course your creativity and skills. I have few fabrics with happy prints I need to dig out to prepare for spring ❤❤❤❤
It definitely was worth it :) If not for my major brain fart it would have gone so much smoother, but we live and we learn and things happen, sometimes for the better
Wow….excellent recovery and you have a lovely jacket to wear. Who would of thought❤ (I.e. stain, pattern placement, piecing, re-drafting). Enjoyed watching this video a lot!
SUPERBE VESTE , je regarde toujours avec grand plaisir vos videos et j'apprécie votre expression en anglais car je parviens à comprendre , votre prononciation est super . Félicitations pour tout , Un grand merci . Bonne continuation .
You are one clever girl. I love it. It looks fabulous. I'm not a seamstress. I watch you because I'm always amazed what you can do and I'm hoping some of that would somehow transfer magically to me. Lol. Wonderful jacket. You have every right to take delight in your accomplishments.
You amaze me on your abilities! You give so many inspiration on what you able to do and think up. Very good job and it looks just perfect and meant to be just like this.
Thank you so, so, so much and I am so happy it provides you with a ton of inspiration! How is your coat coming along? By the way, remember we were talking about dry cleaning, or rather lack of... so some of the decisions that I made in sewing this jacket were due to that. I did not want to fully interface the fronts because I did not want to make it more difficult to clean the jacket.
So far I haven't done it yet, but I have chose the color. I've been trying to use up all of or at least some of my fabric. I just made a T shirt dress for the daughter of a friend of mine. I took a pic of it because it came out so cute. I made it double skirted with the top one a bit shorter than the bottom one. She loves Unicorn's and I found fabric with pink and blue all over it, and then I found a t shirt with a big Unicorn on the front also in pink. I'll post it on the FB page tomorrow. If we have power. We're having a huge storm, and record high temps no snow. @@ThoughtfulCreativity
So, piecing is period! As they say in the historical costuming world. And quilting. I was just working on a table runner and placemat set for a friend’s birthday, and I ran out of unreplaceable fabric, so I had to find a close match to finish it up. Guess what? No one noticed, lol. The jacket turned out so adorable!
This jacket is beautiful! My Mom made me many dresses and blouses with the Peter Pan collar. A jacket i made tor my high school graduatuon waa a very similar pattern but the collar was different and rfe sleeves were longer. Your sewing is incredible!
What a beautiful you managed to create 😊 I couldn’t help smiling when you discovered that you had to redo some of your work and I guess you would have loved to have a few cms extra fabric. I guess a lot of us have tried something similar ☺️ thank you so much for you inspirationskilde videos 🙏
Lovely result! I know that sinking feeling firsthand of discovering that the print I thought I didn't have to worry about just looks wrong. Terrific that you were able to push past that with a reworked design. You are amazing.
Alisa, that was such a wonderful video. I loved all the jigsaw creativity and the decision making while on the job. It’s so good to see how a project can be started and then changed as you go along. I think it’s the mark of a true artist. I’m so glad you unpicked and re-made the top part of the bodice. It’s easy to think you can’t bear to unpick all your hard work, but honestly I’ve never regretted unpicking something to make it better. You always regret not bothering though, if you don’t make the effort! 😅 The jacket turned out stunning and really looks gorgeous. Well done ❤❤❤
Such a key-ute jacket !!! I love it as it is !!! It may just be me, and it's all up to you, dear, but, I wouldn't put any shoulder pads in it cause it's so cute and pretty !!! ❤😊
The shoulder pads that I am talking about would be the tiniest kind, purely for support and better hang of the sleeve and shoulder. You would not even notice that they are there in terms of the size of the shoulder. Fogot to add - Thank you so much for watching :)

Ooooh, I haven't even thought about that :)) Do you think I should email them?
Your jacket turned out so cute. I am happy that you were able to work out all of the problems.
Thank you! 😊
Alisa, your jacket is adorable...you are the 'star'.
Love that---"you can't unsee it."

Cant believe you made such a fantastic jacket from one yard of material with a flaw AND a full remodel. Lizzie from Cheshire uk

Fabolous jacket, Alisa. Your creativity never stops to amaze me
Thank you so much, Agata, you are so kind!
Stunning jacket. As an ex-fashion designer, I know exactly how much work went into this. You've inspired me to
start sewing again.
Yes, do it, if you feel the calling of your soul to sew - it must be that little spark inside of you :)

Hello, wonderful video. Love it.❤❤ have a nice day
I like the 3/4 sleeves! Such a vibrant print calls for a simple, well-executed design. Bravo. It's a great jacket!!
Amazing
Thank you! Cheers!
🎉beautiful work. It's a work of art. Dress up, dress down ...

@ThoughtfulCreativity at least with that type of leather you should be able to get fairly good matching pieces then, unlike animal leather.
Love the jacket as is. I’m not into a lot of floral but this I would wear.
Thank you, Shelly :)
How fun! I also want to get a cute li'l jacket out of a little piece of fabric I can't get more of. Inspiring!
You can do it!
Liked, shared and commented. Up the algorithm!
Such a cute jacket; I love it! It looks PERFECT for this cheerful print. It looks like it was meant to be this way!😊
Absolutely fantastic. Cannot believe you made this out of such a small piece of fabric. x
My mom was expert at piecing the piecing piece. ❤ Thanks for your videos!
It’s beautiful
That little jacket is a real jewel! Nice job.. Blessings from Canada 🇨🇦
I would have made a little zippered pocket for the one side that wasn’t finished so it could cut up the print.😊 LOVE the jacket!! So cute!
I don‘t know how you do this eliza. It‘s like magic. And the jacket is so beautiful, specially with this gorgeous fabric. Well done ❤
Julia, sometime I don't know how I do it either, lol :) but seriously, half way through, after making that mistake, I thought it would be a no-go... it took every last bit of everything to make this happen, and I am happy I persevered
Beautiful jacket...hard work but it is awesome.
Thank you Alisa, a great result❤️
Love the jacket! I am so impressed, you are truly a creative genius!!
What a great job! Beautiful! I love the lines of the seam across the front with the pockets!
What a unique and beautiful jacket.
Honestly so beautiful. Watching this, you give me an idea of how to use a piece of velvet fabric. Thank you!
LOVE it. What a miracle, actually that you made that work!
Thank you for "vloging" and sharing your mishap part. I find it very important and also useful to let us self taught sewists to see your whole process. 🫰

That will be perfect for your Easter outfit. A little white blouse, black skirt, and little black shoes. It is beautiful. Where did the stain go?
Thank you, Arvetta! I did cut around the majority of the stain, but there is a little piece on the bottom of the facing...
Wow….excellent recovery and you have a lovely jacket to wear. Who would of thought❤ (I.e. stain, pattern placement, piecing, re-drafting). Enjoyed watching this video a lot!
That is just gorgeous!!!❤❤❤

I absolutely love this Jacket , but I really love the Top you are wearing
Thank you :) it is also made from fabric scarps, the video for it is linked at the end of this one :)

That turned out super cute. And what a mind bend problem solving challenge it was! Totally worth it though.
That green leafy print hanging in the background would go great with the green pants/skirt you are wearing. My eyes keep blending them together.

Now I know what I can do with some of my particularily pretty fabric scraps. I love puzzles.
You did it! It turned out super cute and looks great on you. I even like the shorter sleeves. Great job
This turned out so beautifully 😊
simply gorgeous!
What a beautiful job!
Beautiful!!!! I think the shorter sleeve is so fresh looking and very wearable.
