No way did those little scraps turn into that amazing piece!!!! You are amazing!!!!!
He he, it did, it always blows my mind how the fabric scrap pile does not seem to diminish much, even when I make bigger projects like this one. I still have that lace end that stripe linen/cotton to make something :)
Phew! You weren't kidding when you said it took all you had to finish this (both literally and figuratively, it seems to me). That is a marathon of sewing, and I hope that you wear it as much as you want too.
Giiiiirl, yes, YES! I think partially it was that I was working on it late at night, you know how it is - foggy brain, and then bam - you realize you did something silly and there you go, and hour of taking out the stitching. That sleeve fiasco was nerve wracking though, when I realized that I should have drafted that part curved instead of straight - oh my, I was kicking myself so hard. But, let's say 20 years of wear will be a great return on the investment of time, nerves and creativity lol :)
@ThoughtfulCreativity 💯 The long wear will be totally worth it! Also, it looks like it's worth well over $200. :)
I would not have thought to add snaps like that. What a creative idea. You are amazing! LOVE that jacket!
That was... because I was a little bit in a pickle, he he :) I talked a bit in the Members Extra about why I decided to add snaps like that - ruclips.net/video/u4T0XLA6LUU/видео.html
Amazing result. This piece is not a shirt, not a jacket. It's a work of art. I LOVE the embroidery, the side elastics, color scheme, fabric manipulation. Everything. Very very nice.
That interior red-blazed fabric really gives it a unique touch too!
Quilting two lightweight fabrics together to make them a heavier one was like a revelation to me. I never thought about it!
I really appreciated the discussion about using different fabric weights.
I really appreciate how the bias tape gives the top a really clean finish!!!
I am glad it is useful - I often find that my fabric scraps go together beautifully when it comes to the color/print, but not in terms of weight, and knowing how to arrange them in a garment really helps it all come together.
When I saw the scraps I was sceptical, but this jacket turned out very, very cool. I love the look!
Thank you! Funny, but I see this sentiment quite often under my videos, at first the look of the fabric scraps does not inspire much, but then once you see the process and the final result - it is quite magical. Not every fabric scrap garment is a 100% win, but each is unique! Thank you for your sweet comment and I hope you enjoy other videos in this series :)
It's gorgeous and it is so YOU! I personally would have put a band at the hem but I would absolutely wear it like that. You are such an inspiration! Thank you ❤️
Marlene, thank you so much! Funny thing - the band on the bottom was sort of on my idea list, I thought of doing it in the blue fabric, but... I barely had for the sleeves, so that idea was scrapped :) thank you again!
Absolutely charming! Thanks for bringing those scraps to life. I call them unexpected bonus garments. ❤
Your projects are always so inspiring! You answered a question I was thinking about: how to combine fabrics of different weights. Both placement and how a little weight/structure can be added with embroidery or layering fabrics. Thanks! 😊

Everything about your work inspires me. I love that adding bits at the end is a legitimate technique and not just a result of my failure to plan properly! I have to say you have added a whole new dimension to my retirement after 40 years of teaching little kids. Your sewing and communication skills are fantastic.
That is beautiful! You are so talented! God bless!
Thank you!
The final jacket is SO stylish and feminine! I had a hard time picturing it in the process, but I really like how the different colors really compliment each other and the white bias borders really unify the jacket!!. The machine rose embroidery is so delicate and also unites the theme of the piece. Another Stunner❤️!!
Wow that was quite a puzzle ! Cheers for not giving up, looks great !
"Don't give up, don't give up" - was my mantra for the better half of the project, lol :)
Love your jacket, you did great job on it. Have you considered embroidery in beige on white. I also dislike strong contrast between white fabric and dark thread, but I love beige on white because you can see it, but it is not overwhelming. Thank you for your video. I love your creativity.
I continue to maintain that you are pure genius. This is extraordinary. Your sewing skills and your ability to communicate them are top-notch. And the fact that English is not your first language makes them that much more impressive. Thank you for such a helpful and inspiring video.
Your videos are always interesting so timely for me! Pinterest told me yesterday "based on your 'love this style!' board we think your style is Utilitarian" like you said, I like some added feminine details. I have a pair of my husband's work pants(in a brown color similar to carhartt) that ripped out from thinned seams but the central fabric is soft not thin and I have denim scraps from my own pants and other projects....I see a jacket or vest in my future!
dear Alisa what a greate inspiration watching your videos. Thank you so much for this. 🤗 Every time I learn really a lot ☺
Тhe amount of thought that goes into the design of each project is so inspiring. When you see it, you wouldn't think it was made out of scraps. Thanks for sharing your creativity!
It's absolutely stunning. I totally understand frustration. Your jacket is absolutely amazing
.
Thank you so much, Agata! So much of my energy went into it, but I am glad it is done :)
Oh wow this jacket is beautiful. Sew much talent 😊
Thank you! 😊
What an amazing work of art!
This is my favourite of all of your projects I've seen so far. I appreciate you showing the before and after of the cap on the sleeve and how much time it took to get it just right. It was also amazing to see the pile of fabric scraps and how you used different techniques to transform them. You have a real gift not only for making clothes but also for sharing your thought process which is what makes your videos so valuable. Thank you!
That was quite the journey but the end result is stunning! Great job! 🎉
Wow!! This Jacket ist wonderful!! Best greetings from Germany, Andrea!!
Hello, hello Andrea! Thank you so much! It was a work of love, blood, sweat and tears, lol :D

So creative and beautiful. You are a true delight. God bless you.
OMG!!!!!! It came out so fantastic!!!!!! You are an inspiration!!!!
I love everything about this! And, the fact that these are some of my favorite colors makes it even more appealing. Wonderful, as usual.
It turned out so well! Lots of work :). I enjoyed watching your process. The little details like the curve on the sleeve cap, the placket, etc. are so well done. I also really liked how you added the collar. I never would have thought of just adding on a collar like that, but it really works! I have been thinking of making a similar jacket with a lot of different scraps I have, and your video is inspiring me to just go ahead and try. One big take away for me is to have a muslin/block ready to try on and mark up.
Thank you so much! Lots of work - but I am so happy with it :) The collar is hand stitched from both sides onto the jacket. When I was making it I sort of had a blank stare for a moment thinking: "wait a second, how am I going to sew it in?", mainly because the bias tape goes all around the neckline, too. And then of course the trusted handsewing came to the rescue :) oh yes, having a muslin/block or even a garment on which you can pin fabric scraps on and perhaps (very carefully) try on is very useful. It allows you to see how the fabrics and colors look together, which body parts they would look the best on and many other things that need to be considered. I am so happy it gave you the inspiration! When you start on you jacket, tag me on IG - I would LOVE to take a peek :)
I love this project, very creative. Result is more than good!
Your videos are always enjoyable and informative an interesting, love the creative process and the results every time. This time it is an absolute piece of art and you really helped me stretch my Creativity and overcome my fears in sewing. Thank you so much ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

How beautiful!!! I wish I had your talent. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely fantastic
Thank you!
Wow a lot of work but you really have a good eye for putting fabric together,
I love the machine embroidery. I wouldn't have thought to do it before cutting out the pattern pieces. That is genius. This project was like a finals test. You had to pull all of your skills out of your toolbox. How do you like the quilted linen? I want to try a quilted coat. But, I am not thrilled with the extra weight that batting would add. I like the idea of a small diamond pattern.
Interesting question on the linen - mine was quilted just with 2 fabrics, no batting, but it added just enough weight for the fabric to match the weight of the other ones I used in the sleeve. It took a lot longer to quilt it though than I thought. I would assume a coat would take a good while, unless you go for a larger quilt design. As for the embroidery - I ran into this problem the first time I did it in a project, don't remember exactly when, but since then I first embroider the fabric and then cut. That black blouse for my daughter - I traced the pattern piece outline on the fabric with chalk, then embroidered, then cut it out, so that way I can get it into a hoop without a problem :) oh, by the way, the Members Extra deep dive for this project is out as well :) here it is - ruclips.net/video/u4T0XLA6LUU/видео.html
It is so, so wonderful watching someone creative show their process (and end-product, of course!) You’re amazing.
Wow, You are very talented!
A work of art
Your top stitching and seams are so well done. ❤
I applaud your creativity n competency. Kudos on a job very well done🎉❤
Your creativity is just amazing. This jacket looks absolutely fab. I would never have thought to put all those pieces together. And thank you for talking about the embroidery, another thing I would never have considered but what a great way to enhance and change your fabric, something I’d love to try. Lovely work ❤
It is gorgeous
Amazing, you really should be proud!!!!
Love it!👏👏👍🤩😊
Wow a lot of work but it's so nice. ❤

Wow!! I'm amazed and inspired.
Thank you, you're so kind! I hope your scrap fabric box/pile/bag gets a visit this weekend :)
You are so talented in embroidery ! Thank you for sharing the method. Your sewing is very neat and beautiful. I might try my hand at sewing machine embroidery, it looks simple enough.
That is beautiful!!
It turned out beautiful! I'm loving it.
Love the jacket ❤
This is my favorite!
Gorgeous!
Pristine. I love it.
Simply adorbs!!
FANTASTIC❤
Really amazing.. love it.❤
Oh no, I have scraps in the exact same colors. Now I have to address them 😅 Was thinking patchwork skirt, but girl, does that jacket look awesome...
He he, you got me chuckling :) I guess now the ideas of different scrap combinations won't leave you alone until you put them together :) if you do, tag me on IG, I would love to see what you came up with. A skirt sounds like a good idea, would be a faster one too, at least in my mind, but we all know how it turns out, lol :)
I love the embroidery you did on the jacket. Can you do another one showing the setting in the machine you used
The full tutorial for this technique is in the description of this video :)
Wow, that is great
Love your creative style :)
Very inspiring!
So cute.
LOVE IT!
THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR PROJECT WITH US. EXCELLENT WORK. YOU ARE EXTREMELY TALENTED.

For me the final blue denim snap plaque made it😉

Now imagine how I felt, lol :D oh boy, it was a wild ride, but I am glad I did not give up :)
Brawo!
I love your jacket. It's beautiful!! Thank you for sharing with us. What do you call the paper you do your pattern on and where do you get it? God bless you. Your ideas are amazing.
