Thank you so much for this clear explanation! I am just getting into print making with a craft press (I’ve done encaustic monotypes for years) and have been unsure of the 3 blankets and each ones use. Looking forward to binging on your videos!

Thank you! very happy to help. I'm also always open to suggestions on videos about the monotype process or printmaking in general.

Thanks for the info. I just got the same press from someone locally, at a steal! I haven’t printed since college at ASU and have been in search of a press since.

Hi. What's the bed of your etching press made of? I've seen beds made of some reinforces resin material and steel. The press I'm interested in buying has only 3mm steel plate as the bed - I'd prefer something thicker. Can wood also be used as the bed/ and or sandwiched underneath that steel plate? I'll also speak to the manufacturer to find out, but If you answer, I'll know what to expect when I talk to someone who 'knows more and won't hesitate to use it against me' ;p Regards, Greg

The bed is phenolic, a thermo-setting resin-based material. 1/2 inch thick. You could try a steel bed or wood, but this resin plate works very well.

You can find good printmaking supplies all over the place, but jerrysartarama.com , aetnafelt.com , dickblick.com are just a few good places to look

Can you shoot a video on setting the gage of the press? I'm struggling to make my top pin higher. I want to print a block print that is thick than a copper plate.

Hi, thanks for your question, Michael. The catcher is the thinnest and its about .062" (1/16") thick ; next is the cushion, the thickest, which is .25" (1/4") ; finally the pusher is .125" (1/8") thick. Let me know if I can answer any more questions.
