Fun fact: there's actually 1340 ethnicity in Indonesia, and when you say Muslim spread in Indonesia not because of war, you're not actually wrong but you are not correct, there's alot of Indonesian kingdom weakens because of the rebellion from the Muslims, which cause Indonesia loses in fight to Portuguese and the Dutch.
But this rebellion mainly happen in Sumatra and new guinea island rarely in the Java island.
I'm impressed. You even captured the fact that Indonesia was once either a great kingdom of hinduism or buddhism and yet become the most populous majority muslim state now.

Which I find really sad bc they aren’t half as interesting as Hindus and Buddhists, coming from an atheist…

I didn’t know that Indonesia is so beautiful but I’m glad I knew now
For a twelve minute video, this is very well made and does a good job to give an idea what kind of a country Indonesia is.
I love my country but I wish everything was distributed more evenly. I'm talking about education, things like electricity, better roads and mass transportation options. But then again us being an archipelago has its ups and downs.
yeah like it said thousands of islands lots of forest, mountain, and sea makes it hard for things evenly distributed, which is why the president makes lots of roads during first government periods
not really - why not mention more about the reality for people in Indonesia and extreme racism as shown in this video thank you; ruclips.net/video/XqF--NjrEjU/видео.html
agree
I hope by moving our capital will help the distribution
We, as a maritime nation, must consider waters not as the separator, but the connector. We must develop maritime infrastructure. And then we can have our vast waters as an advantage, not as obstacle to development and distribution of wealth.
they should stop choosing Javanese to reign then
Since I'm Indonesian, I just want to add another fact: Indonesia is widely spread that it has 3 different timezones.

Kamu serius mau pindah ke indonesia...??
No no no, stay where you are.
@versus_ngebacot well I was but things didn't go as planned, so we'll be moving to a different country
@barbs896 fortunately that decision isn't yours to make 🙂
I like that the country got more coverage in the international media from the past few years, still most of the talks are about how the country is not really well known or that it has a great potential in the future...but i'm happy nonetheless
Also, i think indonesia as a state has a very inner looking policies, indonesians never really consider outside countries when looking for economic opportunities or that kind of stuff, as you can see the amount of indonesian diasporas are very low in other countries beside malaysia, but i think this is about to change as the country need foreign investments to drive up the economy and right now indonesian government got more and more active in the international stage
Most likely it is due to cultural characteristic. We indonesian is not used to boast to foreigner and most likely unheard of. Nevetheless we do not lacking of diaspora. Several of impactful one are bj habibie whose invention are appreciated by German to the point he was credited honorary citizenship. Other example being khoirul anwar being patent holder of 4G OFDM or 4G LTE technology.
@@RePhantomz diaspora means people of the country that live overseas, which can indicate how much reach a country has internationally. Philippines has 12M diasporas despite having a population less than half of indonesia, but indonesia only has 9M diasporas at most
@@faiq026 i knew what diaspora means. I was one of them living in germany until few years ago, so does ppl i mentioned. The problem is, there is a lot of undocumented immigrant even more if you counted assimilated immigrants. Other due cultural and mostly economic decision part, most diaspora decided to return after they finish education. For example my decision to go back after i finish uni. German, albeit stable country is quite restricting for foreign entepreneur to expand its business due to taxation available market target demography etc. Thus i go home and decided to mediate business between germany and indonesia from indonesia which net better profit in the end.
@@RePhantomz that 9M number is including the illegal immigrants as well, so my point still stand
@@faiq026 considering the estimation if assimilated immigrant in malaysia alone reach circa 9 to 10 mil i am quite doubtful with the diaspora estimation. But eh it is our gov problem for the wierd documentation so i do understand if you want to stand by it. Heck we still dont have the uniformed number about how many island in our country as both lapan our goverment and other 3rd party spew different number.
and if you go to different islands in Indonesia you will feel like you are in another country. That's my experience
exactly.. they are different countries..

Imagine that you're lost in Indonesia and stranded on an island that you don't know where and what island you at.
I rather lost in Europe than in archipelagos, simply in one land like Europe all you need to do is just to keep walking, but if you're on an island you're totally facing a different world.
You will meet some tribes.
In indonesia we do have tribes both living on land as well as off shore living in canoa and boats with some hand made Rig with bamboo. The tribe called "suku bajo"
Don't worry, the locals will take care of you
Well, you will be sheltered by the local. They give you food and take care of you untill you find a way to back home. I don't know the europian will do that these days.
If u get lost in Indonesian islands you will never die ,the local people are kind and generous they will take care of you even you dont have money or anything, however if you are in Europe without money you will instantly die in just couple of days.

Indonesia is not really well-known compared to Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam because Indonesian people don't like being immigrant. There are considerable amount of Indonesian migrant workers in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia but they are not immigrant.
you'll be surprised for how many indonesians living abroad, they just don't want to show off

And few thousands in taiwan, hongkong, south korea and japan. In other coutries just hundreds
@@gasoline3743 fact is, it's devastatingly smaller than other countries of our size. People who went to outside, eventually returned. Very few stayed outside in comparison to countries like Philippines, India, Thailand, Vietnam, etc, etc. That's why India was freaking out about "Brain-drain", because their smart people left the country and never returned for good (sans for visits but ultimately, they never stayed). Also about the language from Dutch
Actually we took MANY words from Dutch, but many people (including me) didnt know it was from Dutch except if told / study on their own
Example are Tante (Aunt), Om (Uncle), Perboden (Forbiden), Stang (Drive Rod), Kantor (Office), Kopling (Clutch), Eropa (we spell it as A-rope-Pah, rather than English's Europe "Your Rope")
And theres many others
--
Once i had conversation with random friend from EU in discord, and to make it easier to explain, I just told them that :
"Indonesia is like the whole Europe as one country... Different language, different people, different food culture, different traditional clothes... But as one country"
We even have different name for same food
Martabak Manis, Terang Bulan, Apam Balik, Hok lo pan, Kue Bandung (which many times become a debate between Indonesians lol),
Different method to eat same food
In Java, eating Fried banana usually only with sweet toppings like choco or (cheddar) cheese or milk
In Sulawesi, eating fried banana using sambals
(Which ALSO many times become a debate online lol)
Also different taste for the same food
(Nasi Goreng in North Sumatra taste different than Nasi Goreng in West Java, also taste different than Nasi Goreng in East Java)
In Sumatra, Curry based fried rice can be found...
In West Java, (especially Jakarta), it is more close to Chinese Fried Rice
In East Java, its more red and abudant of toppings
Some friends also said in Sulawesi the taste is totally different, but personally I've never go there so I cannot desribe it
