This was not only their first Grammy, the academy changed the Grammy from "Best Instrumental Arrangement" to "Best Arrangement, Instrumental Or A Capella" specifically so they could get the nomination. Then they won it two years in a row.
Besides all of Kevin's amazing beatboxing, interestingly Mitch grew up immitating sounds for fun. The megaphone in the Bohemian Rhapsody vid is just a prop, he doesn't use one in concert. There is also a video out there where he and Scott are writing with sharpies on posterboard and he PERFECTLY IMITATES all the squeaky marker sounds right after Scott makes them. iIts wild.
open mouth astonishment really is the only reaction possible when first listening to this… yeah. In the same vein though, really really recommend their original song Love Again. Same like electronic sound and so cool. And fun makeup!
Other reactors have said that RUclips is getting stricter recently, so tricks that used to work are not working now. As you said, I am one of those who knows the video, just enjoying your reactions
At this point I don't even consider it a Mitch-slap anyone, it's just that wonderful human being grabbing a steel baseball batt and cracking it on our face over and over again
They are singing in "staccato" . Very quick blasts of syllables. Violins do this also and other strings, too. They received their first of 3 Grammy awards with "Daft Punk". Their co-arranger, Ben Bram, also won that award. It was for arranging.
Peter's reaction to this is very insightful and enjoyable. However, your genuine reaction is just as enjoyable. What we love is seeing you just as blown away as we were the first time we saw it.
Fabulous! We are here for your reactions, not the videos themselves. Your reactions are so fun and genuine! Have you considered setting up playlists for your videos? You’re getting quite a library!
Yes, please, to this request for a playlist. That way we could easily check to see if you’ve already reacted to our favorite songs before requesting you to do one you’ve already done.
Yes! Was hoping you'd do the official video. Love seeing your mind being blown, your facial expressions are everything! I haven't nagged you for at least a couple of days about this one haha, but.. Love Again! You won't regret it I promise.
Totally agree! It's my favorite Mitch-slap. He just sounds so angelic, carrying the first part of the song. Of course Scott with the Italian is incredible as well. All 5 of them are just so incredibly talented; it never gets old.
When I saw this in my feed, I said "Oh...this should be fun!" Saucey Dad is doing PTX Daft Punk, let me sit back an be entertained with multiple Saucey Faces! Grammy Number 1, recorded in a closet, filmed in one of their houses and the makeup they did themselves for abut $200. You said "It's about the audio anyway" ....LOL....not for this video.....your Saucey face said it all in the first two seconds. Mitch is the master of vocal acrobatics - he is a mimic also - he can do amazing things with his voice. Kevin and the beatboxing and those swishing sounds. Avi on that bass. Scott riffing. Kirstie so clean and sharp. That video of them in the living room just goes to show that they can perform it live with great replicability. Pure Pentatonix Perfection.
I hope you get to some of PTX's originals at some point. Most reactors skip them and only do covers or new releases. One of their first originals, "Run to You", still makes me cry if I listen to it at the wrong time. They used to have the whole club they were playing at (yeah, this was back when they were still playing clubs instead of stadiums lol) be quiet and close their eyes to "just feel it". Also, re: getting around the copyright - try making the video partially see-through, or putting a filter over it so the copyright bots don't pick it up
The video with this one is so good. The way they laid it out, featured the beatboxing by Kevin and avi and so much more was incredible. One of the few times I’ve agreed with the Grammys. Lol with that little half smile kirsten has through this…yeah, everyone feels like “who me?”
Seriously need to watch the sing off season 3 journey. This is still baby PTX. But Mitch skipped his high school graduation for the sing off audition, so that should tell you how young they were
Thanks for another fun reaction! This is very early Pentatonix from the days shortly after they won the "Sing Off" and the record contract that was suppose to be part of their prize package. Record contract dropped them after a week telling them acapella would not sell--nobody was that interested in acapella groups. After that they made their own videos and posted them on their site and grew a huge fan base. This one they made when they scraped up $400 dollars together and made it in the closet and kitchen of the Avi and Kevin's apartment. This one earned them their first Grammy award and opened a lot of doors for them.
Thank you for being on a PTX roll!! I have seen these videos millions of times so I just love watching you react for the first time !! Your face is classic!!!
Your reactions to audio are fine with me! I'm happy you did the official since you saw the private showing. That private showing was for someone through the Make A Wish Foundation. I thought it was awesome they did this for someone. Now that you know the song, listen to the private showing and you'll know they are doing everything themselves.
I actually enjoy the reaction without the video because I have already seen it so many times that now I can concentrate on the voices alone. Keep reacting to PTX I love seeing you being Mitch-slapped ,Scott-perplexed and I forgot the other ones 😁
Thats just not true. Their production engineer has a series of video interviews and he talks about them using auto tune to sound more pop, cause its expected in pop songs. Its not that they are flat or anything, just to give them the pop feel. Ill try to find the utube linka. :) Edit: and i dont mean the effects. You are right as far as i know, they are all done live, without any enhancements
Gold. This is the video you said you'd really like to see. Where they are all sitting on couches in a row and it's live. You know? It's really wonderful! Btw.. your reactions are so much fun!!
Some reactors say it gets blocked, they'll dispute it (without changing it) then after a month it'll get unblocked but the video isn't essential. We've all seen it a million times anyway 😉
A quick note: One day when you have any energy left try to find and check out a huge acapella group call "Straight No Chaser" a bunch of guys that met and started out when in college I think. Lost some members added new. Not sure, have been around forever. They do tours mostly and not many videos. OMG they are great and can be so damn funny. So one day see what you can find. If I find one I will send you the link so you can take a peek.
If you're looking for something to do for Mother's Day, Straight No Chaser did a collab with Tim and Austin of Home Free called A Song for Mama. As Ada says, they're another fun group of guys. By themselves, look for one of their concert versions of All About That Bass.
On some of their recent recordings, especially their originals, they are using more vocal editing / effects. On these earlier recordings their sound engineer would apply echo and of course do vocal balancing, tracking etc, but it's still all them.
Grammy number 1! As Scott said when PTX accepted the Grammy, it was recorded in a closet and filmed in the kitchen of Kevin and Avi's apartment. Their budget was around $400 before editting. Love Again is one of their original songs and it's made in this same style as Daft Punk and it's 🔥🔥🔥. You should take a look at it. Run to You is another original and it's also fire, in a completely different way. Some other Avi songs I would love to see you check out are Aberdeen, Quarter Past Four, I'll Get By, Song for the Thankful, Hey Ya, Otherside, Full Moon. Whether you do a reaction video to them or not they are absolutely something you should hear. Just a couple to put on your radar that are amazing covers...I mean pick your jaw up off the ground type of covers. Shinedown-Simple Man ruclips.net/video/rgFQ6WmxdMs/видео.html and Post Modern Jukebox-Creep ruclips.net/video/m3lF2qEA2cw/видео.html
There is a live version of this backstage recorded on a phone. The only difference is that it is not mixed for balance and there is no reverb. They do it to prove they don't cheat. You should watch it just to see that they probably aren't human.
Truthfully, it's very entertaining to watch your eyes but out and your brain slowly melt, lol. You really are one of my favorite reactors and yes, I have seen these videos countless times so I know exactly what you are reacting to. 💖
Though the audio quality wasn't very good for that other version, you could still hear they sang it exactly like they did here. No audio effects added. A lot of those videos are from before they started getting really strict with the Copyright Claims, but even some of those that have been up for a year or more are suddenly getting claimed. So it's not just you. An audio reaction is better than nothing, and many songs are only available as audio anyways.
Your facial expressions never fail to entertain & amuse me, but I must give you *mega* props for your still-trying-to-grasp-what-you-just-experienced/befuddled/Am I worthy??/hesitant return wave to our quints (“Heeyyy!!”) at the end!
It’s crazy, I’ve seen pentatonix live 2 times now, and they sound EXACTLY like their recordings. You’d think with the arrangements and all the harmonies that they’d use a lot of pitch correction and tuning, nope. Nope at all. They sound perfect. It’s incredible
I have seen some other reaction videos, especially PTX. I've seen some of them post the videos, but use effects to blur it out a bit. Seems to work. As for this song, Kevin and Avi steal the show. Another one highly demonstrating their talent is "Oh come all ye Faithful". It's probably my favorite Avi/Kevin performances. You will love it if you haven't heard it yet. I'm a new subscriber, so bare with me lol
I love that you have already seen them do it in an intimate setting and you are still like, Mitch isn't just doing that....is he? You already know that he is.
Aaaaaaaand now you know how they won their first of three Grammy's. With a, you'll love this, a video that cost them less than $500 to make. 🤣 Also, if you're looking for other reactors from whom you can learn about technique you should check out Tera Simon. She has some really great things to say on the subject.
Hearing in this how much you like to understand the 'how' behind this music I really do think you'd like PTX's behind the scenes video for their Evergreen album. You get to see them in the studio and a bit of rehearsing etc. It is about 20mins long but so interesting.
🤣🤣🤣 it's hilarious cuz you said it's all about the audio, then started it and your reaction was perfect! We know EXACTLY what you were seeing! Hahaha I'm sure almost everyone watching this has seen the video so many times that we really don't need to see it at this point to know exactly what's happening the whole way through lol
I'm a newer subscriber so I'm still getting through your reactions to PTX which I love by the way! If you haven't reacted to them singing 'Can't Hold Us" you definitely have to. This one is one of my favorites of PTX of all time. Keep 'em coming!
this song is on youtube they do this in a private meet en greet i think no microphone. that one you can just show because it is not on their official channel. if you writ pentatonix daft punk live performance you will find it immediatly
Then did the video in Avi and Kevin's apartment. Voices were done in a closet and the video at the kitchen table. And they won there 1st Grammy with this video.
You should watch a video of them coming up with different sounds for a song. It's fun. When someone has musical creativity, they hear things inside them. It's why we have so many different types of musical avenues. The gifts PTX has musically is amazing. I do understand your loving Avi's bass. He's great. But there's a big difference in ability to have the sound and having the sound and soul of the song flow from you. The heart and soul of PTX is what I love about all of them. To me....Avi followed his path. Matthew stepped into the place was supposed to be. I know it's hard for you since you give the reactions. For someone like me, I can read about them, watch interviews and feel the heart of them when I am just listening. I do enjoy your reactions I must say. Keep pushing on..you will get to the point it all works for you.
Have at look at, “ it’s me Barry “. He plays the whole PTX song. Then plays it again with reaction. I don’t think he’s failed yet. Worth a shuffty. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😅😅😅😅
Omg! Your face when it was the end of Kirstie's solo & I know that she gives this sweet look with her little half smile was so funny!🤣 oh & yes that is just Mitch's voice....he's the best at sounding electric! Great reaction as always, friend!
Absolutely LOVE this reaction and the new videoless format. Not having the video up lets us focus on your expressions and raw reaction more and I am here for it! Great video! Well done!
This video cost a total of $400. Was recorded in a closet and filmed in Avi's kitchen. Great reaction love ever one I've seen, so far. Will watch and like all I am sure. Can't wait.
all their voices. I think part of how mitch sounded like that right at that point was *possibly* that Kirstie was singing the same notes (or VERY close ones) so it sounded doubled? but honestly I have no idea I just know they actually sound like that.
The effect of the contacts is freakier because they seem to have made an effect not to blink or if they did the video editor didn't include the blinks.
This was not only their first Grammy, the academy changed the Grammy from "Best Instrumental Arrangement" to "Best Arrangement, Instrumental Or A Capella" specifically so they could get the nomination. Then they won it two years in a row.
Did they REALLY need to change it though? The human voice is the most popular instrument in the word.
Didn't it also cost them like $400 to do the whole thing?
@Nichola ah makes sense
And it was recorded in Kevin's kitchen closet. These inhuman beings won a Grammy award from a kitchen closet. I mean, really.
This was their first Grammy. It was filmed in a closet and recorded in the kitchen at Kevin and Avi's apartment.
That is backwards. It was recorded in the closet and filmed in the kitchen...and edited at the kitchen table.
I believe that Scott stated it cost $400 to make when they accepted their first Grammy.
Besides all of Kevin's amazing beatboxing, interestingly Mitch grew up immitating sounds for fun. The megaphone in the Bohemian Rhapsody vid is just a prop, he doesn't use one in concert. There is also a video out there where he and Scott are writing with sharpies on posterboard and he PERFECTLY IMITATES all the squeaky marker sounds right after Scott makes them. iIts wild.
Avi assisted a lot with the beats
open mouth astonishment really is the only reaction possible when first listening to this… yeah.
In the same vein though, really really recommend their original song Love Again. Same like electronic sound and so cool. And fun makeup!
Mitch is an electronic wizard with his voice.
Other reactors have said that RUclips is getting stricter recently, so tricks that used to work are not working now. As you said, I am one of those who knows the video, just enjoying your reactions
Just in the very first 10 seconds of the song, watching your eyes get progressively wider with each person 😂
Mitch is, in fact, just doing that. They are fantabulous.
And I know I personally have, in fact, seen these videos 100 times. 😁
Those "sounds" Keving was making at 3 minutes in - were there on the Private performance - just not amplified!
Great idea Diane!!!
Yes, please, to this request for a playlist. That way we could easily check to see if you’ve already reacted to our favorite songs before requesting you to do one you’ve already done.
Yes, playlist is a good idea. I was going to suggest Daft Punk a while ago, but felt sure you’d have already done it.
Yes! Was hoping you'd do the official video. Love seeing your mind being blown, your facial expressions are everything! I haven't nagged you for at least a couple of days about this one haha, but.. Love Again! You won't regret it I promise.
Love again for the avi/ko !
YES!! I second that! And Mitch’s cover of Billie Eilish’s “Power;” so beautifully haunting!
Another great reaction . This is one they won a Grammy award for .
They came into their own as pop techno masters in the Sing Off. Shawn Stockman said so. 😁
Outstanding mashup, first Grammy, no wonder. Avi and Kevin were truly a team and drove this piece.
yep, its Grammy win # 1 of 3. All in the earlier years. Filmed in Avi and Kevin's apartment. It is incredible. Loved the reaction!
If you’re in the mood for one of the biggest slappings possible, check out The Prayer by PTX… absolutely insane, and incredibly beautiful, honestly…
Totally agree! It's my favorite Mitch-slap. He just sounds so angelic, carrying the first part of the song. Of course Scott with the Italian is incredible as well. All 5 of them are just so incredibly talented; it never gets old.
That was one of my first PTX reactions!
@@SauceyDad well shit, haha.. completely forgot you did that already! You’ve been busting out so much content :)
When I saw this in my feed, I said "Oh...this should be fun!" Saucey Dad is doing PTX Daft Punk, let me sit back an be entertained with multiple Saucey Faces! Avi is just stunning with that hair and voice. yum.
Seriously need to watch the sing off season 3 journey. This is still baby PTX. But Mitch skipped his high school graduation for the sing off audition, so that should tell you how young they were
Scott, Kirstie, and Mitch are only 19 years old on the Sing-Off s3. They are so baby-faced it makes me giggle. Until they start singing :D
They did this video in Kevin and Avi's apartment for $400, and it won them their first Grammy
Thanks for another fun reaction! This is very early Pentatonix from the days shortly after they won the "Sing Off" and the record contract that was suppose to be part of their prize package. "This has got to be one of the greatest acapella pieces, RIGHT???" Saucy, honey... this won them their first Grammy Award.
Thank you for being on a PTX roll!! I have seen these videos millions of times so I just love watching you react for the first time !! Your face is classic!!!
“It’s all about the audio anyway” me: oh, sweetie…

I actually enjoy the reaction without the video because I have already seen it so many times that now I can concentrate on the voices alone. Keep reacting to PTX I love seeing you being Mitch-slapped ,Scott-perplexed and I forgot the other ones 😁
Five phenominally talented people!
In most tracks, they don't use any auto tune. They've always said they want to replicate their studio productions as live.
Thats just not true. Their production engineer has a series of video interviews and he talks about them using auto tune to sound more pop, cause its expected in pop songs. Its not that they are flat or anything, just to give them the pop feel.
Ill try to find the utube linka. :)

Gold. This is the video you said you'd really like to see. Where they are all sitting on couches in a row and it's live. You know? It's really wonderful! Btw.. your reactions are so much fun!!
Everything about this Grammy winner is off the chain. But Avi and Kevin (as always) slayed it. 🔥🔥
Hope you caught PBs reaction, pit viper status!
Some reactors say it gets blocked, they'll dispute it (without changing it) then after a month it'll get unblocked but the video isn't essential. We've all seen it a million times anyway 😉
Love Avi more than life but Kevin and Matt are certainly working on it, try New Rules/ Are you that Somebody...surprise it's pretty amazing!!!
Totally agree
They are extremely talented. They won a Grammy for this video. Billy Boy
A quick note: One day when you have any energy left try to find and check out a huge acapella group call "Straight No Chaser" a bunch of guys that met and started out when in college I think. Tim has guested on a couple of their shows.
On some of their recent recordings, especially their originals, they are using more vocal editing / effects. On these earlier recordings their sound engineer would apply echo and of course do vocal balancing, tracking etc, but it's still all them.
They are amazing live, saw them in concert with Matt and they are true performers!
So love your reaction to this! It’s a lot of fun! This is the song that they won their first Grammy for.
This was filmed in a closet and recorded in their kitchen... Just amazing 🤩
“About me? ….Please tell me more!” Omg…I spit my drink out at that very moment! You crack me up! 🤣🎶💕
Yes! Been waiting to see your mind blown by this one! :D
Matt and Kevin are awesome together in new rules are you that somebody. And Scott's awesome in lose us with Rozzi! 😂🤣 Just my daily reminder
Shinedown-Simple Man ruclips.net/video/rgFQ6WmxdMs/видео.html

Still miss the video I don't know why I just do. I guess I enjoy seeing them as much as hearing them. You are so fun to watch.
Your facial expressions never fail to entertain & amuse me, but I must give you *mega* props for your still-trying-to-grasp-what-you-just-experienced/befuddled/Am I worthy??/hesitant return wave to our quints (“Heeyyy!!”) at the end!
Yes!!!FINALLY!!!been waiting for this reaction since I started watching you on youtube...glad you took the suggestions to heart.thanks!!😃✌
This was their first Grammy
Going to get popcorn, be right back!
They rap in “Can’t hold us”
I want to let you know , when I am having a really bad day I come to your channel. You make me feel so much better. Keep it up.
This was recorded in a closet and filmed in the kitchen of Avi and Kevin's apartment at a cost of $400 and they won a Grammy for it.
They got their very first Grammy for this!
Sauceydad: "It's about the audio anyway."
5 seconds later: shock and shook
Won a Grammy, too. From what I understand...it cost $400.00 and was filmed in a closet.
So good. Please do more VoicePlay. Their queen in 5 mins is amazing!
SD - "it's about the audio"
Also SD - *eyes proceed to pop out of their sockets when video starts
😂😂😂😂
Isn’t it shocking how they can shock you over and over over again!
Hearing in this how much you like to understand the 'how' behind this music I really do think you'd like PTX's behind the scenes video for their Evergreen album. You get to see them in the studio and a bit of rehearsing etc. It is about 20mins long but so interesting.

PTX is our club mixers, HomeFree are the Country Boys, Voiceplay are our theater kids, and Voctave are the classic family friendly theme parkers.😍
Again… the face. 😂 😂- “it’s all about the audio anyway…” 😂 😂 😂
This is their first Grammy. They are so fantastic
Poor Avi had a hard time with the contacts. He posted how much they hurt his eyes. You can see the redness even with the blue contacts.
Lots of talent and mimicry.
Yes, they are " just doing that".
I'm a newer subscriber so I'm still getting through your reactions to PTX which I love by the way! If you haven't reacted to them singing 'Can't Hold Us" you definitely have to. This one is one of my favorites of PTX of all time. Keep 'em coming!
I wish I could like this reaction more than once. You have such an expressive face 😂🤣😂🤣
Also…your facial expressions are priceless!!
this song is on youtube they do this in a private meet en greet i think no microphone. that one you can just show because it is not on their official channel.
if you writ pentatonix daft punk live performance you will find it immediatly
Acapella tour? Don't know about that. PENTATONIX is on a league of their own.
🌟STRATOSPHERE LEAGUE🌟
PENTATONIX won their first Grammy with this!!
Then did the video in Avi and Kevin's apartment. Voices were done in a closet and the video at the kitchen table. And they won there 1st Grammy with this video.

Loved it , thanks!!!
I've seen comments on other reaction sites that their troubles began after they hit 10,000 subscribers. It's the price of fame, dude.
They made this for 400$$ in their kitchen & went on to win a place Grammys 4 it ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 their nominated for another Gramy rightnow💯
Have at look at, “ it’s me Barry “. He plays the whole PTX song. Then plays it again with reaction. I don’t think he’s failed yet. Worth a shuffty. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😅😅😅😅
Lol watch carefully. They don't blink.

It's just PTX in a dressing room no microphone even.
Omg! Your face when it was the end of Kirstie's solo & I know that she gives this sweet look with her little half smile was so funny!🤣 oh & yes that is just Mitch's voice....he's the best at sounding electric! Great reaction as always, friend!
"It's about audio anyway" and then your face reaction to the video 🤣🤣🤣
Great reaction but they can perform the way that do because I think they are vocal magicians!✌❤🇨🇦
absolutely love your reactions to ptx
Absolutely LOVE this reaction and the new videoless format. Not having the video up lets us focus on your expressions and raw reaction more and I am here for it! Great video! Well done!
Just wait for the 90’s dance medley. ❤️❤️🤷♀️🇬🇧🥃🥃🥃🥃
Definition of musical precision..see PTX. And no that is all their own voices
I don't mind you not putting the video up I've already seen it a hundred times anyway. I'm here for your reaction.
How much fun was Kirsty having? She couldn't hide that half grin.
