MTA NYC Bus: The 1998-1999 Orion Vs

As of 9/22/16, #6025, one of the last Orion Vs, was officially retired from revenue service. This video is a compilation of the Orion Vs when they ran at Gun Hill, Grand Avenue, Yukon, Castleton, Charleston, Casey Stengel, Kingsbridge, and Eastchester. This compilation also features some exterior and interior videos of these buses, and focuses more on these buses while they ran at Kingsbridge and Eastchester.
Say whatever you want about the Orion Vs, but they were a part of my childhood and I'll miss seeing them around my neighborhood.
EDIT: As of 10/5/16, #6333 has been put back in service. On 12/1/16, #6333 was retired, thus ending the era of the Orion Vs in the MTA.

KB,GH,YK,Charlsten,Eastchester and BKs finest GA depot will always be my favorites depots to have the orion 5s caselton i like but they didn't take to much care of the orion 5s

Part of me wished I was able to document the Orion V's stay at Michael J. Quill Depot. To think Orion V's did see service on the M8, the old M9, and M21 blows my mind.

The days of good different looking buses roaming around NYC are being phased out. The buses all had different designs and unique sounds that you could identify them by. Now all the low floor hybrid crappers dont go fast at all. They all sound similar and not like a powerful bus, but more like a paper shredder or a washing machine. The excitement of joyriding NYC buses will be a thing of the past.

I miss seeing them especially around the Bronx.. near Kingsbridge Road on the B and D I would always see them. Also, were there Orion V's that were assigned to Jamaica or Queens Village before?

Nope, not from what I can find. I know that ENY had an Orion V for one day but then it transferred to another depot the next day.

Great video. I will really miss seeing the Orion V's around. It's really the end of an era. Back then, Kingsbridge and Gunhill had so many of them on the non articulated routes. Now, it's mostly novabus lfs and Orion next gen hybrids. Enjoying the D60HF's and RTS while they are still around.

Yeah, Brooklyn was like one of the last boroughs to have ‘99 Orion V’s
