I remember when I was about 8 years old my mom and I sat in front of an old building in the next town over and we just talked. During that time we lived in a very bad domestic violence situation and we just went on a drive to get away. I was scared and she was emotionally lost and broken. This song came on and she got really excited and asked me to sing it with her. At first I didn't but I did afterwards. She loved Fleetwood Mac and that was her favorite song, but she really loved this version. For me, this version of this song brings back that memory of temporary peace in the bad storm we lived in. When my mom was herself and I had her by my side. Sadly, about 3 years ago at the age of 49 she took her own life and left me here missing her. I always come back to this song to sing it and just relive that memory, when I still had her as herself and it brings my heart some bitter sweet peace.

This song gets to me for the music and the message. I have 3 boys, the day after my youngest son's second birthday, my wife walked out, leaving me to raise the boys by myself. Suddenly, I had to literally "build my life around you". I don't regret it for a second, but now that they are off to college, it's a strange feeling to face life in new directions so the idea of being afraid of changing hits home. A new season in my life is beginning! Thanks to God for helping carry me this far.

This is the perfect song for this season of my life. My kids are almost grown, and as a mom my life has revolved around them for so long. Getting old and them leaving is a scary thought that I have to prepare for. Reminding myself not all change is bad. Positive note: my girls are already more prepared for their lives and futures than I was. Maybe the most significant mark we make in this life isn't who we are, but who we raise.

I remember playing this song when my mom passed away In March of 2017. Every time i have heard it since then i always look up into the night sky and see the moon, i think of our few times we were together, mother and son. Still makes me cry when i think of those times we held hands together, during those unspoken moments. My mom was the pillar of our family and she always was a strong woman of spirit. This past April (2021) my father passed away, 4 years and a month after mom had passed. My dad missed her dearly and in the end, he welcomed his own passing only because he would be joining her in heaven. Now they are together at last and when i listen to this song again, tears well up in my eyes. I miss them but i am happy they are reunited. Thank you Chicks. Love you all.

It combines the brilliant addition of the banjo, Natalie's powerful voice contrasting with the gentle harmonizing throughout the song. You couldn't make this song any better. Hats off to whomever rearranged this because the original from Stevie Nick's was already perfect.

So I heard a lot of Fleet growing up and this song from The Dixie Chicks, but somehow didn't realize til I was about 10 that this was a Stevie Nicks song.

The Dixie Chicks cover version actually made the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 (#7) back in 2003 and finished as one of the top 40 songs of the entire year that year, so it is a known song just maybe more associated with the original artiste, Fleetwood Mac. But Dixies killed it and it was a DEFINITE HIT for them as well.

It's really too bad they were defamed by the piece of work, George Bush, just for disagreeing with the war basically. Now look today, the things that entertainers are saying to the world about our leaders! One even basically threatened to blow up the White House! Yet, they still have their freedom. They still make their music (which SUCKS compared to the stuff of the 80s and 90s if ya ask me). And not only are they not defamed for making those comments... they're praised for it! It's amazing how much this nation has changed just in a decade! and NOT for the good!

Well, I've been afraid of changing 'cause I built my life around you
    But time makes you bolder
    Children get older
    I'm getting older, too
    Well I'm getting older, too
So, take this love and take it down
Yeah, and if you climb a mountain and you turn around
And if you see my reflection in the snow-covered hills
Well, the landslide brought me down
And if you see my reflection in the snow-covered hills
    Well, maybe
    Well, maybe
Well, maybe the landslide will bring you down

I remember when this version of the song came out around late 2002, early 2003. I was 16 turning 17. Even at that young age this song hit me. The feelings, emotions & realization hit me hard. Now at 38 years old I'm still like wow...

When this one came out IT WAS MY FAVORITE REMAKE.
I remember talking with a teenager about
this ; and the pleasant peace of that moment is what I think of when I hear it.
The melody here is so full ; the life living the non- choices is felt.

This song came on when my mom passed. It seems to always make it’s way back to me whenever I’m missing her and I need to hear it.

@Leigh Barry I think it's important to state something you find incredibly important. No matter whom you are. Especially if you have a platform to make a difference. I wasn't into politics then but decided I needed to know what she was talking about. She was graceful in saying that people need to speak up and not just let the government go crazy. And she was right, he was a disaster. We're still in a war he started in 2003. Over non-existent weapons of mass destruction. They knew it didn't. It was supposedly about the fight on terrorism but the terrorists weren't in Iraq of course. After becoming informed, I found out how essential it is to vote. And to try harder to make America a better place by doing what I can. Now days it's crazy not to say how dangerous the political situation is. It may inform some and the others will continue to be ignorant. At least they'll be sure they said what was of major concern to them. I couldn't continue to perform in such a shitty situation without stating something. Not a graphic or crude something but something. Like the women's soccer player (I can't think of her name now of course!) that recently said how she wouldn't go to the White House if they won the finals because Trump is against everything she believes in. She's lesbian and not racist so obviously it would against her morals and values to go and act like everything is okay. I believe it's important to do more than just sit back with your concerns. If change is going to happen, stand up for it. I don't think criticizing every single thing is good but to say what you need to and be done is right. The country is in serious danger and I can't not point it out.

Man.. my mom loved this song so much when I was younger and I didn't really understand its meaning until recently when I revisited the song when hearing it on the radio. I find it very interesting the change in taste for music between the both of us where she loved country music that spoke to her about the seasons in her life and I've come to love songs that celebrate and empower the times to come. I wish she were still around so I could have shown her all this beautiful music. Rip Susan 2019 🕊
