Lyrics:
Who doesn't know what I'm talking about
Who's never left home, who's never struck out
To find a dream and a life of their own
A place in the clouds, a foundation of stone
Many precede and many will follow
A young girl's dream no longer hollow
It takes the shape of a place out west
But what it holds for her, she hasn't yet guessed
She needs wide open spaces
Room to make her big mistakes
She needs new faces
She knows the high stakes

Dixie chicks were the best growing up. What a great time to be alive
💯 Facts 💯
Natalie possesses vocal talent as close to pure tone as anyone I've ever heard. You could tune a violin to that voice.
One of those iconic voices that transcends generations....Awesome.
SIE ist die Beste ❤❤❤
Who’s listening in 2023? I’m listening, crying, and helping my daughter pack for college. Where did 18 years go? Empty nest syndrome is real!
2024 love to all of the fans. I still say The Dixie Chicks
By now it probably doesn’t feel as difficult. They always comeback home. My stepdaughter who is 25 often comes to work from home on Fridays and hang out with her mom.
July 3rd 2024
Hopefully not blacks
This black girl from Texas is so proud of The Chicks. You make all of us proud! Every album is a classic!
You are so Beautiful…!!!

Why do people have to start everything off with.. not gonna lie. Now days haha. It has nothing to do with what you said.
I'm a 56 yrs. African American woman from Chicago and have been The Chicks fan for years. They have talent to burn and they also possess the big 3, Heart, Minds and Soouuul (a little Soul Train reference) . The only reason I put the previous statistics about myself on this comment is so that the Girls know that they reach far and wide. There is a reason why they are still standing, despite or maybe because of all they been through. The 3 of them are not just supremely gifted artists, they are also damn fine humans and astoundingly giving world citizens. You can't beat that with a stick. #TheChicksfanforlife
Hello 👋 Theresa. How are you doing? Hope you are fine. I’m Zack Clifford and am from Denver Colorado. Where are you from? You seem like a real country girl

Your people are the reason they call themselves the chicks now. True fans know them as the Dixie chicks
What does your race have to do with any of that? Want to end racism? Quit mentioning race.

There's not one bad song done by them
They don't come any more talented than these ladies!!!!
I remember listening to this song as a Senior in High School in 1998, and it was my song. I really needed wide open spaces!! I moved 7 hours away to college in Tennessee and found my wide open spaces!!
I was about 4-5 years old when I heard this song, grew up listening to it, understanding it more and more as I got older... and now I’m playing it for my baby girl as she’s sitting in my womb. Life is a crazy thing. 😭
Same I was the same age I love this song
Well not to be a damper, but I think she sings about a woman leaving her child to find herself.
@@donnaq5439 Lmao! Well then, I will never look at this song the same again 😂

I was lucky enough to see Susan Gibbons play this song that she wrote in a small home concert a few days ago. Some friends of mine knew her and we drove down to meet with her and several other friends. She poured out her soul and told a story about the background of several of her songs as she introduced them. What a talent! Her songs touch the very fabric of everyday Americans and I'm a new fan. I have not really been a country fan until now. I hope you give Susan a listen. You won't regret it!

Generally not a fan of country music, but I love the Dixie Chicks. Them standing up for what they believed in sealed the deal for me.
This hands down is my favourite all time song period. I think if i hear them sing it live i’ll have those screaming, jumping, crying, laughing moments that end up me looking like a total freak and I cannot WAIT for that to happen💓

I appreciate the dixie chicks standing up for our freedoms and speaking out about illegal wars. They were cancelled before cancelling was a thing, i was too young and brainwashed too understand and truly appreciate why they did what they did. I can admit that now that im older, i was horribly wrong and i could never thank and apologize enough. we need more women like the dixie chicks!
love this!!!
I totally disagree!!! They are talented musicians, but they can keep their political views and opinions to their selves!!! Very disrespectful and liberal way of thinking is what is killing this once great country!!!

When songs are put together perfectly, the results are like this. The voice overs during the chorus are genius.
They got a raw deal, such great talent!!!!
Every once in a while, not too often, I come back to this song. The day my mom died, she asked me to sit in her hospital room and sing this song to her for the last time. I remember trying to do it, but whatever came out of me was barely singing, i was just croaking out the lyrics. We'd always bonded over music, she loved showing me older songs from her youth that she loved. I've only sung this song twice since she passed, and both times I've choked up and could barely get the words out. Remembering that time in my life is painful, and this song brings me back to that day, that time. I can picture her more vividly than anything when I listen to this song. Cancer took her in one of the most painful ways imaginable. I hope she's found a form of peace, if she's anywhere out there. It's been 7 years but no matter how long, the grief never shrinks, all we can do is grow around it.
I'm sure it's been said more than a few times here...but ... I LOVE THIS SONG! Lyrically, musically, vocals... this, is perfection. "... I don't care who you are..." here, on this tune? these ladies are ....uh...Supreme!

To bad they couldn't just sing. Their ignorance makes it hard to like them.
@@mitchkinney7662 I love their music and their message
@@mitchkinney7662 Too bad you do not know that we all have Freedom of Speech in this Nation. They probably would not like you, either.
@Paul Evans they are free to speak their mind, no one tried to stop them. But just like you and I, they have to accept the consequences of their choices. And quite frankly, I really don't care if the "Chicks" or anyone else likes me, I am not a narcissist, and don't need anyone's approval on anything I say or do. Have a great day.
Just discovered this song for the first time in my life while going through a 90s music nostalgia trip last night. Not much of a country person generally speaking, but this is incredible.

Hello Liz, how are you doing?
Just want to thank the girls for my memories. This CD was my ma’s absolute favorite, she played it in repeat for weeks when we were kids. I remember my sister and I actually hid it cause we were so tired of hearing the same songs (10-14 year olds aren’t gonna appreciate this music) and my mom bought the CD a second time. It’s not only comforting to hear this music since my ma passed on Christmas almost 13 years ago, but it’s super nice to watch the videos because everyone always said my mom looked exactly like Natalie.
It was super comforting to see an older more recent version of Natalie in one of their more recent videos, it was almost like seeing my mom for the first time in 13 years. Thank you girls. Cowboy take me away will always be my favorite, and the cover of landslide which I chose to play at ma’s funereal because she adored it so much. If only I knew how much this band would comfort me back when I was a little 10 year old shit hiding their debut album or groaning every time my mom popped it in the CD player. There’s few things that can provide comfort when your mom dies, if anything, but Dixie chicks really gives me a warm hug when I need it sometimes
Those were the best days of my life ❤️
Please come back, the country and the world needs this kind of hope and truth!
