I know a bunch of you are going to be like you can do this with a warlock and darkness. Yes I know, but there are a few things that set this apart and make it better.
First, I have already done a darkness build you can see that here ruclips.net/video/JWxh2gIx73o/видео.html
Second, you can't be as broken with darkness as fast as you can with fog cloud. You would need 3 levels in warlock and 2 in rogue. This is because even in darkness you need to hide. The AI knows you are in there if you do not hide and it can find ways to attack you. I know, I have tested it thoroughly.
Lastly, the final form of this build can cast fog cloud infinatly and you can't do that with darkness. You can get the items you need to do this early in act 2.

You can beeline to the cave for the zhentian quest at the beginning, steal the chest, deliver the mission and get the titanstring bow, then buy 3 strength portions from Aunt Ethel. With 21 strength plus your dexterity modifiers, I believe you will get more damage than with the thunder bow. This is a great build for solo tactician run. Getting the cloak from the dark urge is a good icing on the cake and the phalar aluve as it gives a chance to do a good melee and range mix. An hierling that can cast longstrider will also make it more viable after becoming a thief as more movement equals more striking opportunities. Anything apart from solo tactician with this build might be too easy though

I was actually going to say... Start as Rogue, so you get 4 skills, THEN Dip Cleric, then back to rogue. You sill get all the armor and weapon profs from Tempest, because they're subclass specific bonus proficiencies.

There is a Downside to this in your Build: Medium and Heavy Armor is nice, but it likits the Bonus from Dex.
Medium limits it to +2, so every Dex above 14 is lost.
Heavy sets that to 0. No Dex Bonus at all.
Every +1 from Dex adds to AC - keep that in mind.

8:01 I think I found some misinformation here: Savage attacker does not increase the crit chance - you are mixing two different roll types. Crit chance comes from Attack Rolls - if you roll 20 (or less with proper equipement/champion), you get a crit. Savage attacker influences DAMAGE rolls., its a roll that determines whether your 1d6 weapon should do 1 or 6 points of damage. Savage attacker essentially gives you advantage on DAMAGE roll, enabling you to do more damage, but not crit more often. Also, it only works for MELEE attacks, so its pretty useless for the build which fouses on sniping with a bow

I think FireSpark might intentionally put in misinfo like this to create extra engagement from corrections. Savage Attacker doesn't do what he says it does. A useful comment on Savage Attacker would be "This lets you reroll damage dice for all sources, but not Sneak Attacks, so the more your build uses Sneak Attack damage, the less attractive Savage Attacker is."
Savage Attacker is better in BG3 than in Tabletop though. Just not in this build. Rerolling Smite damage and a lot of other damage riders can be strong in appropriate builds.

He did say that after the acquisition of the cloak you need to keep moving. Bow utility is only themajority of attacks until you get that cloak then you can melee all you want as long as one steps out of the clod to do it with.
It may not be immediately useful but the build works for the long game.

I would suggest dual wielder. it could allow you to dual wield more melee weapons with strong passives. Just have to figure out what applies to ranged attacks as well. The weapon effects can be unclear at times.
Other than that only sharpshooter and dex+2 are usefull for this kind of build.
There is a ring in the game that gives you permanent advantage on attack rolls, which would fit this build perfectly.

Taking 6 levels of sword bard instead of tempest cleric will get you three attacks instead of one plus a weapon style. A level of fighter will get you the archery weapon style. You can get respec out of the final cleric level for Action Surge after getting the cloak, giving fighter 2/sword bard 6/thief rogue 4, which gives you a panic button for bursting down an enemy who can dent your defences. Taking fighter first during this respec also makes it less likely you will drop concentration. Naturally fighter 1/sword bard 6/thief rogue 4/tempest cleric 1 is also just fine. Going this swords bard route also gives you the option of switching to the preferred dual crossbow method, where you use the second Bonus Action for an additional attack. This is a generally good build that will work well for both cheesy and traditional playstyles as required.

The cloak is op af. I always thought that the second disengage that triggers a fog cloud would make the first one disappear so never bothered trying it. Being able to cover the entire area indefinitely without any spell slot makes the various obscure related gear viable too.

For a little more endurance at low levels, you can get the Spell Thief bow from the Druid's grove vendor, and once per short rest get a spell back when you crit with the bow. This could allow you to recover your Fog Cloud spell, allowing you to effectively restore your most important spell each short rest.

I genuinely like the concept, it's a clever way to combine some otherwise lackluster items. Personally though, I only see it being useful for low levels for the fog cloud cast/strange conduit combo.
Once you get the cloak, you don't need to be cleric anymore, you'd be better off using the same cloak/blindness ring combo, getting the ring to get advantage on attacks (and disadvantage on saves but who cares), and making a rogue/bard hand xbow build. Still disengage every turn to make your cloud, but you don't need to use your other bonus to hide because you have advantage anyway, so you get two primary attacks (which bard can turn into 4 attacks) and a bonus shot every round, and you're getting bard utility and skill boosts. Plus if you start with 17 DEX and take the hag bonus, you'll cap DEX with your first ASI, use your second feat for sharpshooter (advantage on all attacks will easily offset the -5), then just to spice it up finish off levels 11 and 12 with two in Fighter for your surge. You're getting a standard 2 attacks, which bard makes into 4 attacks, and a bonus shot. When you surge you're getting 2 more attacks, which bard is still turning into 4 attacks. All at advantage, all with +10 sharpshooter, all while being untouchable. The only thing it really changes it needing to short rest after each combat for maximum output (which many people do anyway AND Bard gives you a 3rd short rest), but to turn yourself into a invincible walking turret of death it's a small trade. And if you didn't want to bother with your inspirations and surge, you wouldn't even need to short rest because 3 attacks per round from the safety of your cloud is still solid regardless.
Still, the initial idea is very clever and the item combination is strong, keep up the good work.

Surely swapping out savage attacker, which would only let you reroll damage on melee attacks which you aren't really doing, and replacing it with sharpshooter is just better. Flat 10 damage each attack is just incredible, and you're attacking with advantage so the -5 to hit penalty is negligible.
Also, all of those cleric levels just for spellslots for fog cloud and 1d8 damage a turn seems like a lot of investment for a small return. You can go swords bard after rogue 4 all the way to 12. You still get spell slots, but you also get Blade Flourish. Slashing Flourish on a bow just lets you attack twice for that attack, and can be on the same target. You also get extra attack to go with your two bonus actions to hide. So that's four attacks with advantage and sharpshooter per turn. You only get 2 ASI's this way, but 18 dex and sharpshooter when all your attacks have advantage is still incredibly reliable. You can also start 17 dex and go the hag hair route.

I've liked this for lone wolf runs, but I think Act 1 thru most of Act 2 work better just going straight Gloomstalker Ranger, you miss out on some of the tempest damage, but most of that comes in the reactions, and since you're in the clouds you don't react much anyway... and just the first 3 Ranger levels get you everything you need: fog, dread ambusher hide, heavy armour if you want it, as well as the extra ambusher attack at the start of the fight and some resistance if you want those, you also get access to some useful ritual spells and cantrips. Cleric might add and scale better later on especially with the equipment, but Ranger is so front loaded as a class so makes the early game more efficient IMO

Hi @FireSpark81. Love this concept. Reminds me of the Deep Purple track "Stormbringer". I was wondering though, how important is the lightning/thunder effects, melee knockback when you can just shoot, and if you can just shoot, and don't need the knockback, why not go 11 levels of rogue to maximise sneak attack dice? In fact if you have another means of getting access to the gear you need, once you have the two equipment combo, you could be pure Rogue Thief and have 4 feats. I also wondered why savage attacker and not sharpshooter. Mathematically sharpshooter is well worth it when you have advantage on every attack. And early on that helps kill everything before the fog cloud runs out.

My Astarion is a pure thief and has pulled off some truly outrageous shenanigans. Give him athletic for true traversal, or just run mage slayer and have him run through the whole combat to stand next to their spellcasters (3 moves and disengage, he's getting there). Moving out of cover for a cheeky ranged sneak attack and immediately making 2 full moves and hiding again is really good too, and feels very roguish

Also probably use Phalar Aluve as your melee for some extra Damage too.

Everything he does that buffs the Sneak Attack, also buffs a second attack.
All Clerics get extra damage at level 8, not just Tempest.
The only thing Tempest gives this build is pushing targets away, which you don’t need as Hiding in a Fog Cloud makes the AI skip their turns. The Channel Divinity is pretty much worthless as his only source of Thunder or Lightning damage is the 1d8 on attacks. Rogue is only part of this build really for the Cunning Action. I would even probably replace Cleric entirely at higher levels for either a Martial Class or just go all Rogue.
So no, a second attack is more DPR than going Tempest on this build. If you really just want to do one big attack, it would be much better to just go pure Rogue for more Sneak Attack dice and just use the cloak for clouds.
Your Sneak Attack as a level 11 Rogue is 6d6.

I would suggest going with dual hand crossbows, actually. Especially with those rings adding damage to all attacks, the extra attacks will stack nicely. I do realize they seem to be kind of overlooked. I only found a nice one toward the end of act 2. Maybe I missed something? None the less, I've been using two +1 bows with Astarion for most of my game and he puts out pretty crazy damage at range or in melee, dual wielding in either case.

Heavily obscured, and yes. This build is utterly broken. I soloed most bosses in act 3 using this. Might be worth giving everyone in the party two levels of rogue for that bonus hiding if you don't want to play solo... I did it with Gale, so had two chars with immune to blindness and bonus action hide. Trivializes most of the game though, because it is truly broken...It works fine even without those items, as you can just step outside the cloud, attack, then step back inside and hide. That loses the obscured bonus, but the enemy AI stays lost.
