- Welcome to the latest episode of Big Trip! Today I am at Edinburgh Waverley located on the East Coast Main Line where services are seen by ScotRail, LNER, CrossCountry, Virgin Trains and Transpennine Express.
Edinburgh was of course an amazing station to visit. The station has so much incredible archiecture going over it and even cars can drive underneath it along roads heading in and out of the station which is brilliant. The variety here is just astonishing with trains in and out almost every minute operated by so many different classes of train. This station has another brilliant tunnel view going out of it and a nice view on the other side of the station too! There are so many hidden parts of this station and the platform numbering still confuses me today and this was my third visit! Overall an incredible station, one of the best in the UK for sure!

Stunning video mate!
Thanks!
Great Video, Waverley has always been a fantastic station 😊👍🏽 The landmark at the start above the station is the Balmoral Hotel, very nice 4 star luxury 😊 Eld Jones.
Thank you for clarifying that Eld! Glad you enjoyed the video! 😀
KTV Videos no problem 😊👍🏽 I remember seeing 47/7's there on push-pull services to Glasgow QS - the only 47's permitted on BR to run at 100mph
Stunning video mate, I was at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival last year so I got to see some of the Trains in my free time, I love Edinburgh Waverley Station.

@@KTVTransport hows life been atm for ya? Good?
The side of the station you were on at the start is for trains going to Glasgow and the West, the North, The Fife Circle and trains going to the West coast Mainline, Carlisle, Manchester, Liverpool although Avanti West coast to run a service from Edinburgh to London which goes through Birmingham. Tweedbank trains go from the southside of the station
Awesome Video Bud :) I must get up to Marston Green the next time the Flying Banana comes through haven't seen the beauty for a while.
Rob's Public Transport Videos apparently it’s out of service until January for an overhaul
Thanks Rob! Hopefully you'll see it soon enough. 😁
Great video though mate!!!
Thank you!
You were looking at the Balmoral Hotel not Edinburgh Castle. The Balmoral Hotel was originally called the North British hotel, this was because it belonged to the rail company operating from Edinburgh Waverley The North British Railways. It was transferred to British Rail after Nationalisation and remained a railways hotel until the 1990s when with the privatisation of the railways the government sold it to private buyers. They renovated the hotel which had by that time become dilapidated and changed its name to the Balmoral. Its now probably the most expensive hotels in Edinburgh. You did well, got the service to London Euston, i think thats the only one. Not sure why if you were going to London from Edinburgh you'd use that train though. Mind you, next time I go to London I might come back that route just for something different.
Looking forward to seeing the video
Hope you enjoy watching!
Great video KTV, sorry I only just watch it KTV.

@@KTVTransport ikr
And 166s!
How come cross country don't go via west coast main line to Glasgow.
Mainly because Virgin do it anyway, plus it's better for routing and planning for them to go via the ECML.
Transpennine has the franchise for the West Coast. They run trains from Edinburgh to Manchester and Liverpool
I'm currently in Edinburgh and I'm doing a vlog series on my channel (to try and get subscribers), great video as always!
Come to lanark
How often does avanti West coast come here
