This remains one of the best games I've ever played. The job system was remarkkable and the battles were really well thought out. Thank you, SquareSoft...
Without a shadow of a doubt, Final Fantasy Tactics is one of the greatest games ever made. An instant masterpiece, from the plot to the musical scores, FFT is genius, and presented revolutionary gameplay ahead of its time. Its plot is so dramatic and deep, its worthy of a full, live action movie. Most of the games made now with x10 the technology and budget, cannot come close to FFT.
I think there's a very special atmosphere on the wet and rainy levels in this game. I can't describe it, but it is something enchanting and very nice about them.
Have you ever had this moment when you suddenly start thinking of a game you haven't played in a while, then you suddenly feel this excitement whelling up inside you and you are like "wow I'll play this game this evening!"? =D
I find it funny that they made this awesome cutscene and really cool dramatic music for the five riders in the intro, only to see them get totally demolished by Gafgarion, Agrias and others shortly after XD
I remember getting stuck in this game, throwing the controller at the wall in fustration and then deciding to train a squad of ninjas to kill everything. Became very easy after that.I'm playing it again with a real party set up
The 2007 intro revamp is obviously a vast improvement in a lot of things but if they had made the chocobos run faster in this one, I'd say the differences are only cosmetic
Blarghalt sorry. Late reply. Try the Xenogears and some of the Xenosaga tracks. Yasunori, likes to utilize them and the saga series composers tended to stick with it on occasion.
The soundtrack was extraordinary! The gameplay is enormous! The world of Ivalice was just wonderful! The story was suspenseful! I must say this game is a masterpiece!
You can add other units before the battle in Gariland - try browsing with the L/R buttons. :P I always have two other Squires (attackers) and two Chemists (healers) in that battle.
Completely agree ..although good games are still made I find game designers are becoming more and more scared of experimenting, all the genres of games we have today are a direct result of the fact that game designers experimented a lot, fortunately the Indy scene is looking very positive with innovative games like Magicka etc .
This game is very good, but it's also very different from the other FFs in that it pretty much resembles chess: you move your troops around on different terrains. It's pretty fun to surround an enemy and hack away at him/her from all sides. :D
@Laurelindo as a matter of fact, you just reminded me that i have the game on psp as well back at home. I will def. get it sent to me so I can play the heck out of it once again! :o]
@3randon9othizm actually, Ophiuchus is in the game ;). At the bottom of the Deep Dungeon is Elidbidis, who has the Serpentarious stone. Yes, the makers of this game were damn genius. :
The best thing about this game is the wonderful music. Even in the opening the music is good. I also agree with everyone, this is one of the best tactics game out there. The one for the PSP is just as good. :D
I’ve returned a few times… bought PS Vita after PS Vita. Played it until my PlayStation didn’t want to… THIS game… It strikes a mark for war. It makes us stand. It…makes….us….fight….TACTICALLY…..
yeah, i played it like 9 years ago. It's my fav of fav. And my first and only cosplay is the white mage from this game :P. This is like a game of chess
i remember the first strategic rpg that i played was shining force 2 on sega and 2nd was this and i was like omg is this real .so many days and weeks spent playing this
More than 10 years after its release, actually. ^_^ This is a wonderful game, it's such a sweet feeling when you really start to get overpowered and tear up everything in your way. Right now I'm using two Ninjas and a Lancer with Draw Out and two Summoners with a complete Math Skill magic set. Everything dies. XD
@graychap, I've beaten it about four times. :P Two of those runs were split-offs from partial savefiles though, (IE, didn't do the first chapter or something, I like to think of them as "alternate realities" :P)
To other companies. If you're curious, look up some of the people behind classic Square games on Wikipedia and see where they are now. Most are still making games, but with other companies (c.f. Lost Odyssey, Xenoblade, Crimson Shroud).
I grabbed my core group of characters, uncluding Cloud, had every one of them except two completely leveled in every job (save Cloud) and had them all close to 99 in my quest for the perfect tactics game. That last two were each one job away...then memory card went screwy and erased my game....sigh. Still, I at least beat the game once before that.
@Laurelindo Yes, but the odds say that to buy enough to get a 50% chance to win, it would cost more than 50% of the prize money. That's the whole basis of a lottery. If there existed any way to spend X and get back X+1, people would set themselves up and do nothing but as a means of 'manufacturing' money. It isn't possible. Lotteries are a source of revenue for the people running them. There is no way to guarantee a profit by playing - there isn't even any way to make it likely.
I like this game better than VII too. They both came out the same year and FFVII over shadowed it with it's great graphics of it's time. But this year FFT will make a come back! :D
We all want our games to look good. But we also want excellent and memorable game-play. Designers have a different mindset with games as of late. When graphical limitation impeded on the ability to display the world to its fullest, designers had to focus on things like game-play and ambiance (Ex. music) more in order to get the effect they wanted. Now we have everything many designers 20 years ago would have killed for-but all other aspects sans graphics are sometimes a bit lackluster anymore.
I didnt mean that now-a-days all the games are bad..but the point is gamemakers experimented a lot in those days, take this very game for example ..where are such games today , even the RTS genre is not coming up with anything new and my favourite the RPG genre has been reduced to interactive movies but as you said still good games are made now and then, KoA Reckoning is one such game which reminds me of the classic RPGs
I saw Front Mission, First Battle on the SNES , one of my friends was a die hard fan.. yes it is a good game..I too dont have a PS3 or even an XBOX I invested in buying a good PC as it not only serves me as a console but as so many other things..all the games I mentioned are PC versions and unlike the hard copies of console games buying a PC game on service like steam is about 20%-30% cheaper....If you can, please give the witcher series a try, if you liked FFM you will enjoy Witcher too.
@anythingnew eh it worked for terminator 2, and metal gear solid 2, and uh...yea, well what's the worst that could happen? a bad game? it's worth the risk, even though the chances of a good sequel from the current square-enix is slim.
hands down (to me at least) best Final Fantasy, and best RPG ever made, and this is not even nostalgia talking i first played this game last year on the PS1 i might add, i really found amusing how i had played it over 50 hours but i still couldn't get nearly enough of it, i really felt like crap at the end XD
Hmmm, I wonder if St. Ajora is supposed to be some kind of metaphor for Jesus Christ. Got any observations? To me, it seems that the correlations between St. Ajora being built up as a saint when he was actually a normal person (a spy?) has some connotation to what could have happened to the image of the one people refer to as the Messiah. Still, wasn't Ajora a demon that was the last boss of the game? It's been a while since I beat it (about six years).
Level 5 Theif, 3 Archer, and... Level 4... Monk I think... another alternative is to tame/entice a Ninja if you encounter it then you can learn how to do it from there. :P
This remains one of the best games I've ever played. The job system was remarkkable and the battles were really well thought out. Thank you, SquareSoft...
When this came out I was blown away by it (music was a standout - best music for repetitive battles)and also Castlevania SOTN at the time too
@@neilmcdougall4927I'm shocked their has not been more like Fire Emblem
Shivers all over my body! One of the most hyping intro ever
I find it funny that this is such an amazing and badass CG intro that introduces characters that will die in the first battle of the game.
I think there's a very special atmosphere on the wet and rainy levels in this game. I can't describe it, but it is something enchanting and very nice about them.
one of the most epic intros in gaming back then.
Shivers all over my body. I played first when im 10 years old. Now im 24 but still playing again again and AGAIN. Best story ever!
Born in 1993?
Have you ever had this moment when you suddenly start thinking of a game you haven't played in a while, then you suddenly feel this excitement whelling up inside you and you are like "wow I'll play this game this evening!"? =D
It's been 10 Years, Since I play my first FF and Tactics is my first FF, I will never forget this game Ever.
My dad let me "play" this with him
Aka I controlled a character
My first and the best Final Fantasy
2024 still love this game and intro
i love this game. it has a great story with an intense dialogue
This is one of the MOST gorgeous intros for Final Fantasy.
The melody makes you try to anticipate "whats going to happen next??"
This is beauty
I always watch the intro when I'm starting a new file, and it always leaves me breathless.
Guys I will return.
I promise.
Well you did come back for Dissidia
I'm still waiting :(
He came back in War of the Visions as a playable character now~
I have…. A few times.
I'm back
Goosebumps childhood memories waghhhh it’s not the same anymore take me back!!
One of most epic adventure of all times! A true masterpiece !
This is without question one of the best FF intros ever.
I find it funny that they made this awesome cutscene and really cool dramatic music for the five riders in the intro, only to see them get totally demolished by Gafgarion, Agrias and others shortly after XD
Hitoshi Sakimoto is genius.
I remember getting stuck in this game, throwing the controller at the wall in fustration and then deciding to train a squad of ninjas to kill everything. Became very easy after that.I'm playing it again with a real party set up
The classic and one of the best
I find interesting that in the original it shows the squad that was in the front against the main cast while in the psp version you see Delita's pov
Is it just me, or does this still look better than the War of the Lions intro?
They removed this from War of the Lions and it makes me sad.
Changed it to a new one showing Delita's face
The new one is good but titles from the original make it feel far grander.
"Zodiac Brave Story"
And the slow turning of the FFT title
I loved this game so much! Everyone went crazy and betrayed each other! So many people died! One plot twist after another! It was madness! XD
The 2007 intro revamp is obviously a vast improvement in a lot of things but if they had made the chocobos run faster in this one, I'd say the differences are only cosmetic
Still to this day one of the most amazing games ever made.
Greatest game. Great intro. Great soundtrack. 1 of only 1 game I will replay before I die.😶👍
Anyone know more bagpipe music like the stuff at the very beginning? I need my Scottish music fix.
Braveheart original soundtrack may fix that for you. Though you probably have listened to that by now.
Blarghalt sorry. Late reply. Try the Xenogears and some of the Xenosaga tracks. Yasunori, likes to utilize them and the saga series composers tended to stick with it on occasion.
best intro & music ever
Best ff ever
I miss this game so much...f it I am hitting up a store this week and picking this game up for old times sakes. :) Nostalgia ftw!!!
The soundtrack was extraordinary! The gameplay is enormous! The world of Ivalice was just wonderful! The story was suspenseful! I must say this game is a masterpiece!
I just love when the Knight's cape is flying in the wind at 2:25, it looks so epic for some reason.
You can add other units before the battle in Gariland - try browsing with the L/R buttons. :P
I always have two other Squires (attackers) and two Chemists (healers) in that battle.
one of the best games ever created , masterpiece.
Der beste Soundtrack der je für ein Videospiel geschrieben wurde. Besser geht es nicht!
miss this game so much
Easily one of the best games ever made
Need Tactics again
Completely agree ..although good games are still made I find game designers are becoming more and more scared of experimenting, all the genres of games we have today are a direct result of the fact that game designers experimented a lot, fortunately the Indy scene is looking very positive with innovative games like Magicka etc .
This game is very good, but it's also very different from the other FFs in that it pretty much resembles chess: you move your troops around on different terrains. It's pretty fun to surround an enemy and hack away at him/her from all sides. :D
My CD copy is full of scratches now -_-
another HUGE game from that blessed years.
The real game of thrones
I preorder and i cant wait to get it...
@Laurelindo as a matter of fact, you just reminded me that i have the game on psp as well back at home. I will def. get it sent to me so I can play the heck out of it once again! :o]
masterpiece
It is on PSP and PSN now too. I have played this game on so many different consoles because it is so damn good :)
Dreamwalkers
First twenty seconds into that theme makes me ready to kick some ass in this game, I love this opening! :D
@3randon9othizm actually, Ophiuchus is in the game ;). At the bottom of the Deep Dungeon is Elidbidis, who has the Serpentarious stone. Yes, the makers of this game were damn genius. :
seriously greatest opening to a game ever!
i get goosebumps watchin this..its so cool
this game is great love the battle scenes and story too
masterpiece.
Ramzaaa
The start of a great adventure.
I haven't played FFT before, but now I need to.
The best thing about this game is the wonderful music. Even in the opening the music is good. I also agree with everyone, this is one of the best tactics game out there. The one for the PSP is just as good. :D

best intro ever? yes,no? i vote yes
The games the best, I think this is the best retro FF, great composition of sounds, THE BEST!!!
@AlyssaQistina98 Nope, just a remake (which IMO is absolutely worth playing even if you have played the original)
yeah, i played it like 9 years ago. It's my fav of fav. And my first and only cosplay is the white mage from this game :P. This is like a game of chess
Its a sad day in America when a video of such immense significance and importance only has 87k views on youtube.
Yes, our society is indeed doomed.
i wasn't hoping for an intro to the dodoriders but it's good
I can still pop in Tactics and play it through but FFVII it hasn't aged as well and I just can't say the same for it.
i remember the first strategic rpg that i played was shining force 2 on sega and 2nd was this and i was like omg is this real .so many days and weeks spent playing this
More than 10 years after its release, actually. ^_^

1🇺🇸🌈🎄🏴☠️🗼🌊🪭KNIGHT: WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING HELL KNIGHT: ...
@dekard421 Me too! I've lost count how many times I've listened to it.
@graychap, I've beaten it about four times. :P

Final Fantasy: Game Of Thrones
Goal in life: Rise a Horse in the valley while listening to this.

Just bought ePSXe for Android and emulated this game at 60fps. So awesome!
I saw Front Mission, First Battle on the SNES , one of my friends was a die hard fan.. yes it is a good game..I too dont have a PS3 or even an XBOX I invested in buying a good PC as it not only serves me as a console but as so many other things..all the games I mentioned are PC versions and unlike the hard copies of console games buying a PC game on service like steam is about 20%-30% cheaper....If you can, please give the witcher series a try, if you liked FFM you will enjoy Witcher too.
yeah that's the stuff
in the end, it's still just a giant chicken.....
Hitoshi Sakimoto master piece
It's a pity. My game broke a long time ago, and I really wish I could play it again. If only there was a way... :(
Yes, in the beginning, if you don't skip it, that is. :P
@anythingnew eh it worked for terminator 2, and metal gear solid 2, and uh...yea, well what's the worst that could happen? a bad game? it's worth the risk, even though the chances of a good sequel from the current square-enix is slim.

This has to be the best Final Fantasy Game overall I just beat it 10 mins ago best ending ever :) poor,Princess Ovelia...

this game was relly fun when i played it about a few years ago and i got to lvl 30- 87 in one round easily without gameshark
The true Final Fantasy game.
my game never had an intro like that
You said everything bud... I miss the old FFT's gameplay hax... though the AI needed improvements, lol
this is the best game and now that is coming for psp OMG I CANT FUCKING WAIT!!
I put this on my militarydog account awhile back. =P
