- This is the version of the battle against Death Knight Algus made for The Lion War mod.
Since the mod uses the original English Playstation One release scripts, dialogue has been rewritten to look more similar to that version instead of the one presented in the War of the Lions release (term used by the modders is de-wotlized).
There will be a future release that will keep the War of the Lions translation as well as the content.
The Lion War is a mod that aims to bring the War of the Lions content to the PSX version (with exception of Onion Knight, Multiplayer Items and Luso). The current version available and recorded was the 1.06 release.

I'd have been more shook if Gafgarion showed up again.
To be honest the devs brought him back only because killing him once isn’t enough for most people.
Well... an undead Gafgarion using knight sword would technically just drain his own health right?
Limberry is his home land and he was resting in the catacombs, it makes sense he was chosen to appear again

If tactics does get remade/mastered I HOPE its this version with all the extra scenes & battles, I only ever played the original & thought I knew the game, theres so much in WOTL & this I’ve never even seen

ohh move+2 really helped here. it puts you right next to Algus and able to start going at him right away
but in the game settings there is a class where Algus is the dead knight, maybe they just forgot to do some missions to face him. using the modification tools you find
Just cleared the game once again today, and just those few lines between zombie Algus/Argath and Ramza are way superior on psp.
Here, Algus just speaks as a generic vilain "I'm back from death and I'll kill you".
On PSP he insults him by saying his mind is as common as half of the blood in his veins when Ramza is surprised to see him resurrected ( high level of roasting, but in Shakespeare language lol ).
Meek as a butterfly will always get me because it is so true about Ramza's character.
@@shaayaellis1436 Yeah that pisses me off in general, this narrative of the protagonist being very naive and stupid, but carried by his supernatural powers, and his friends.
All the dialog in the psp version was superior lol. I dunno if Woolseyism was involved, but it seemed more appropriate for the time period.

I do feel much of the dialogue and naming conventions were superior in WoTL, though I definitely miss the curse-laden dialogue the original had, Delita's anger after witnessing Tietra's murder at Fort Ziekden was more palpable in the original. Plus I loved when you killed Adrammalech in the original and he says, "Shit! This isn't right!" before exploding. Plus I thought it was cool that White Mage and Black Mage were known as Priests/Priestesses and Wizards.
I do agree about everything else though, Zalmour Lucianada was such a huge improvement over Zalmo Rusnada to start with for instance, and the Lucavi Demons were given better, more accurate names overall. Though their job titles were better in the original.
Some of the location names were better in the original. I preferred Bethla Garrison over Fort Bassalet and Golgorand over Golgolatha, but that's just my personal preference for that.
Plus the names of the floors in Midlight's Deep were superior in the original once you got the reference. Sucks they scrapped that completely in WoTL.
Overall though, the updated translation was definitely needed and did fix many glaring issues the original had though, I feel should a remake be confirmed, an updated translation that combines the best aspects of the original and WoTL would be downright amazing.

It is a mod called The Lion War. It added all WotL events, the Dark Knight job and the Rendezvous as single player missions to the original release

It is the lion war mod for the psx, it brings most of the stuff from the PSP version to the original. The original always ran better

This event has been added in the War of the Lions version. This is a modded version of the game that adds all the newly added events from WotL to the original release.
Why is he called Altus in WoTL? I thought he was renamed Argath
TLW uses the original translation. In the PSX version his name is Algus Sadalfas
Your Death Knight Is called Elric and he looks like Alphonse Elric from FMA. Is it me or I'm spot on and that why you called him that? xD

Elric is the name of the author of this mod, "The Lion War" as well as the mod "Journey of the Five".
His online name comes from a series of fantasy books (Elric of Melniboné)

It has the same difficulty as the PSP version.
TLW isn't a difficulty mod. Swordskills are just broken in any version of the game lol
I'll never turn down any chance to kill Algus. What a massive douche he was but he served well as a "what if Ramza was a full blooded Beoulve".
I was lucky to get a copy of the original tactics back in spring 98, to this day I don't think I've ever heard anything as savage in a videogame as when Algus tells Miluda "animals have no god". They make it sound more eloquent in WOTL, but yeah Algus is a very easily hateable character.
@@cb3648 oh 98! Good times for Squaresoft fans. Killing Miluda was such a bummer for me and that was such a cold line by Algus 🤣 this series was my first taste of dealing with class warfare in a video game and I loved how it was done. I think I would be alright with a Netflix adaptation done by the people who did Castlevania and Blood of Zeus.

I never played Vagrant Story. How does it hold up?
It's a pretty cool game. I used to play it all the time on my old PS3 and also downloaded it to my PSP as well but alas they both kicked the bucket. It has a pretty deep customization for armor and weapons. You also get a new game plus too after beating it.

The new dialogue from WotL has been retranslated by the mod team to be more appropriate to the original release

Choose your favorite PSX emulator and have fun!
If you plan on playing on PC the recommended ones are Duckstation or pSX.

The game also works on modded PlayStation Classic and real PSX hardware.
Yea i did all that but psx won't load the game just the a black screen and then closes it out.... And I'm all up to date for psx as well

Which version of the pSX are you using? The mod has been fully tested on the 1.13 version available here: ffhacktics.com/wiki/Tools
Just make sure you have a proper PlayStation one working bios (SCHP5501 usually works for most emulators)

Wasting space. It makes no sense for that boring character to even be in the game in the first place. But sometimes modders go high.

The Lion War is a mod for the original release of Final Fantasy Tactics for the PSX that brings most content from the War of the Lions release to that version but keeping the original script. Stuff like the new battles, Dark Knight and the Rendezvous missions (this time changed for single player bonus missions)
There is also an alternative version called The Lion War of the Lions that also brings most gameplay adjustments and the most recent translation for those who prefer it.

Besides overpowered crossover characters, this is my least favorite addition the War of the Lions version brings to FFT. Thought Algus was much more impactful as a memorable bastard that's dead and gone after chapter 1. Didn't make any sense to bring him back, other than he was memorable.
