Just one point to that "dissapearing", do you realize he played this season with KK and Robinson? One is 4C in my eyes and second one was fringe player for years, not even a full time NHLer. It is beyond crazy how Necas was able to put up sooooo many points playing with these 2 players. Rod never liked him, he never gave him chance in 1st line consistently, he never tried him at C, which is his natural position and he creates even more offense while playing C, you can watch back games when he actually shared C spot with KK one year, and he was amazing while playing C. And i need to mention that dump and chase hockey that Canes play which is system from 80s and 90s that absolutely does not suit Necas(not even Raantanen, he will struggle with that too), you can see in just two games, with new team, no sleep, that Necas is already better player just because he is playing fast transition hockey with Avs which helps him a ton. He will be perfect compliment for Mac and his production is going to skyrocket and a lot of Canes fans are going to pull their hair once Moose does not resign with them. I am Canes fan too but tbh Necas got missused, missmanaged and sometimes it got so crazy that he ended up playing with Staal, which is absolutely worst possible line combination you can make, only because Rod did not trust Necas defensively, so he sacrificed all of his talent and offense just because he was scared. I bet thats not happening with Avs ever that PPG player gets 3-4th line minutes just because he is not Selky candidate. Final thoughts.... Necas production will be arround 1,3PPG with Avs and i am shooting too low maybe even... reasons are better system suited for him, playing with Mac in line, having actual first line minutes and a coach that bealives him
This is the BEST possible deal for the Avs. I like it even though I hate losing Mikko. But Necas fits the Avs speedy style better for less money. If you really get emotions and how much time Mikko spent here and won with the Avs, looking purely into future, you'll easily start realizing this was a great trade for the Avs.
I had a convo with my dad last season where he was saying he thought it was a good idea to trade 96. He’s gotten slower, not great forecheck, attitude might not be great… a bit pouty. He’s a good passer and has a great onetimer, but I think Necas has a bit more fire in his belly. He’s faster and more aggressive. Not sure if he can see the ice as well as Rantanen, but he’ll start to gel with the Avs before long and then I wouldn’t be surprised if he climes back up the goal leaderboard, especially if he can play with Mac and Makar who are unselfish. I liked 96, but I’m cool with this trade.
As an Avs fan, I liked the trade. Mikko was playing 6 more minutes a game and is 7 points ahead of Necas. I think Necas will elevate more with Makar and Mackinnon
I hated losing Necas as well, but after his 2 year deal, he was done with Carolina anyway. I believe it was for the best going ahead and letting him go. At least we got something good out of the trade.
@@winkletown8828 he literally has more than a point per game this season. If you mean his overall, he always played some 3rd line minutes and no 1st PP unit. And yes, those things actually matter, mate.
Necas today had an insane assist and was all over the ice. I think both teams won this trade and if there is a slight edge, I’d give it to the Canes. Chicago….well they tried and took some of Rantanen’s salary.
nah, necas and drury plus cap space is way better than mikko. mikko is great but necas looks batter so far and drury is a total beast, exactly what the avs needed.
First of all, I'm an Avs fan as well Everything you described between you and your buddy went through, me and my buddy went through when this news first hit. He walks into the break room in pure shock (we work together and I was on break) and tells me in the most heartbroken voice I've ever heard from him "Dude, we just traded Rantanen, no joke" Needless to say, for the next hour or so no work was done as we scrolled hockey twitter for the final details in this trade My first reaction was visceral, as I couldn't believe what I was seeing and hearing. After much thought and consideration over the last few days and as much as I hate losing The Moose, I am thinking this is going to be the best for the Avalanche in the long run
Avalanche got two good players for somebody they weren't going to be able to re-sign. That is good roster management. Necas has speed to keep up with McKinnon and is the ultimate 3-on-3 overtime weapon. Seriously he has the most overtime points per game ratio in NHL history. Drury is also a really good depth center, he wins faceoffs, kills penalties and is really versatile. You can match him up against just about any team's second line and he will keep them off the scoresheet. I'm a Canes fan and I'm obviously stoked to get Rantanen, but I don't think this trade is nearly as lopsided as people think, and even if the Avs "lose" the trade by a little bit, again, it was a smart and necessary move for them. I think both teams come out of this trade with something they needed and it'll probably be seen as an even deal when you look back on it in 3-4 years.
McFarland did what had to be done. Mikko was offered $11.75 mil per season (more $$ than any other current NHL winger) to remain in COL & the management wasn't going to pay him more than Nate's $12.6 mil per. Money forced this move.
yeah i guess i just think the communication might've been a little weird, Rantanen according to his own words thought they were still just negotiating.
I’ve your friend’s text, my friend had the exact same reaction. 😅 As an Avs fan, it pains me to see Mikko leave, but Necas was a force to reckon with post season. With the salary cap raising soon, I think they’ll fill the gap. Not fully, but leave less of the gap open
We can’t know who won today. Preds also thought they won with Stamkos and that hasn’t been a good fit… all I known is I think the Avs offense needed a serious shakeup and this forces it. It’s also deviating to see a beloved player move on. Time will tell but I thought Makar and necas had some preeeettyy obvious chemistry. And can’t fault necas for mistakes yesterday… anyone would struggle in that situation. He walked into a grieving locker room with three hours of sleep, five minute brief from the coach, and played ten minutes more than his average. Mikko walked into a stoked room, with more time to adjust, on a line with a former teammate, and a mellow eight minutes less than usual. You just can’t compare the two right now.
Necas is not better defensively. At best it’s a wash there. He’s just younger, cheaper, and under team control longer. He’s a great player but I urge you to not be fooled that he’s a defensively responsible player. He’s flashy and talented especially as a skater and stick handler.
@@mattmacknight3000 if he can find the d-zone on a map of the rink, he will be better. If he can use his speed to even get back to the neutral zone after they lose possession, he will be better. If he doesn't fall over or get muscled off every board battle, he will be better. Just giving any effort at all will make him better.
This is a pretty fair trade for both teams. The hurricanes are now set be the favorite out of the east and if your Colorado you now have necas on a line with Mac Daddy Nate.
Avs fan. Knew they were going to trade him. Got to get something before you lose him for nothing. Avs are two top heavy and have to be deeper and that’s not happening if you sign him for 14mil.
"You are getting better defensive play with Necas on that first line versus Mikko Rantanen. That's just a fact." Can you please explain how that is a fact? I'm trying to compare the two defensively and it is proving to be difficult to even make a 1-to-1 comparison based on the vastly different systems the two of them are coming from.
In hindsight, I probably shouldn't of stated it so matter of fact. Time will only tell I suppose. After hearing from many Canes fans, I'm thinking maybe I thought he was more well rounded than he is. Part of that take is me not being overly high on Mikko in that regard, as well as the effort department sometimes. So, I guess we'll see, but I don't think it takes a whole lot to be better defensively than Rantanen in my opinion..
@@PuckLuckRUclipsyeah no Necas is bad defensively. He great offensively but is a turnover nightmare and is just not good at defense. When he’s providing points he’s great but when he isn’t driving offense he’s a net negative with how bad he is defensively.
It certainly affords a bit of a more well balanced approach. Avs have been so top heavy the past few years. Full transparency here too, huge Rantanen fan even since the San Antonio Rampage days.
i think it's a good trade for the avs. We need speed, depth, and full ice play, and not just for this year. Rantanen is a shooter but needs other people to set him up. I think Necas actually fits the team better, and his one timers in the Rangers game were Rantanen level. Plus Drury adding depth. It's sad what happened, especially since it sounds like Rantanen had no idea. But it's a good move.
this was a good trade by Colorado. Mikko wanted 14 mil and they count afford that. so we had to get some value out of it instead of him walking for free. great trade Chris.
Habs fan but my 2nd fan team are the Avs. Same here but the more I look into it, it gets better by the minute. Super excited and stoked for Necas to play with Mack. Avs fans are for a huge surprise if they haven't followed Necas!
I’d say Drury is a solid add to the bottom 6, he’s a face off specialist and plays a 2 way game. Every contender could use that. He also could end up with his bests career line mates to boost offensive production especially if he’s getting paired with Ross Colton and maybe even Landeskog
This trade was rumoured for months but i just couldnt believe that this actually happened. I only hope that Necas can prove that he can stay in Avs top line.
Canes fan think yall long term look better in the trade. Necas has found his passing is fast so fits yall way more than way we play only downside is he misses in bunches. Drury is very capable bottom 6 center with good D. If canes don’t win a cup and have repeat of Jake saga it’s not gonna look good for canes
I haven't watched him play much, but would you really consider Necas a good defensive forward? I have him pegged as a speedy playmaker whose not very good in his own end.
I think it hurts now for the Avs but I think Mack is gonna love having someone on his line that can keep up with him speed-wise, Necas is deceptively speedy and has that KILLER one-tee off the posts 😂
What I heard was that even Makar and McKinnon were not happy about getting so blindsided by management. And that the partial reason why they played so badly right after. But as a Finnish man I'm feeling this deal. Aho, Kotkaniemi and Rantanen in there. Love it. And I will be cheering them in coming playoffs. And let's hope Aho can sweet talk Rantanen to resign there.
Watching Mckinnon reaction, he lost a good friend, and he's totally bummed out, of course he's a pro and will continue to be top dog... but you can really see he lost a good friend and teammate. These guys are humans ... AND the business side of the sport can be brutal sometimes. Probably the right move for the Avs , something Toronto could learn in dealing with highly skilled elite players coming to a UFA negotiation.
After two games I think we might be better on the ice after the trade. But, what I worry about is the loss in the locker room / personal life of the guys.
Generally speaking if you weren't upset about losing somebody with that much production, then I'd say you'd probably need a reality check lol. But here is the thing, it's not bad either. I watched Necas for years and the only thing holding him back was playing on a defensive roster without any pure goal scorers, he won the gold with Pasternak on the Czech team. Necas has high potential to play beside MacKinnon it might take a few weeks before that is obvious. I think the idea of this trade is reasonable though, your team needs that salary to improve depth. And you got one potential league leader that needed to play beside a superstar talent, and you already got a depth piece that will likely not be a 4th line center by the end of the year. That's a damn good start, just be patient for next season likely. As for the Canes, the team was middle 6 heavy, with the top and bottom of lines being very mediocre at times. It is even worse now than it was last year, no reliable star player that scores... Necas was having a good start but I think he was wanting a trade to begin with. We need Rantanen pretty damn bad I gotta say. Now because we have depth, Rantanen would probably be a solid fit and I am expecting GM Tulsky to be aggressive to sign him long term.
Im blown away by anyone thats a paying attention fan, that didn't know the moment the season started without a signed contract, there was a better than 50/50 chance he was being traded. Every month that went up, at the tradedeadline it would have been close to 100. This is not Rantanen, this is SOP for players in any sport going into their Full Free agent years. Member Kadri? Thats the one scenario where the roll with it, older guy, guaranteed cup rup. Thats the exception that proves the rule.
its just crazy. if rantannen signs anything less than 13.5 im going to be disappointed. Idk how tight the avs cap is but you have to keep 100 point guys when you have them. I hope I'm wrong. Mikko was my favorite Av (besides Landy) and it feels like I personally took a hit lol but life goes on!
Mikko at least 12 mil, Mac 12 mil, Landy 8 mil and cale will likely be 16-20.... You are talking 40-50 million of the cap going to 4 guys. One of which has only been good for an occasional motivational speech. That's irresponsible cap management and making business decisions with emotion. That's not a Stanley cup winning strategy. If the last few years have taught us anything it's that we are nothing better than a 1st-2nd round playoff team without depth. We would have been hamstrung for the next 6 years and wasted, arguably the best 2 players on the planets, prime. Necas could potentially have a higher ceiling, considering he is 6 points behind Mikko, plays less minutes and doesn't play with the likes of Mac and Cale.
As an avs fan, I'm not happy about the trade, but you cant argue with numbers. If he's not wanting to sign for x amount we could give him then its time to part. But my god is he not the guy we wanted to lose at all. I get that Necas could still be very good talent, but Nikko is one of the top talents in the NHL. Realistically no one is totally happy about the trade, but what else could have been done i guess.
Necas is a turnover machine coming from a Canes fan. Hes getting better defensively but not great. Unless I’m missing something the Avs downgraded defensively. Necas has 54 giveaways so far this season which is roughly 20 more than Rantanen. Rantanen is also +12 this season in +- compared to Necas at -4
To add, he has insane skill and will be missed. He’s going to thrive if he has line mates who can help counter some of the defensive lapses and set up so many goals for Cale and Mack
Rantanen is probably worse defensively than Necas. Both weak enough that the difference doesn't matter much. Broadly I think Necas is a bit more engaged but Rantanen's positioning is a bit better.
Avs have way less cap space than the Canes this offseason how would they be more likely to resign Rantanen then the Canes who have slightly over $31 million in cap space this offseason without taking to consideration that the cap will go up so they might have $35-$40 million this offseason.
Necas is probably comparable to Moose especially playing on CO 1st line. Moose has a better one timer and may be more physical, but Necas is probably going to put up similar numbers. Had to do it if he wouldn't resign and remember how the contract went to the wire last time, truth is Rants wanted his money and Chris had to think about the future.
The team trading the best player loses the trade, however, with the contract issues and the hardline Rantanen took... Avs had no choice but to learn from the Landeskog contract that went to the final hour. Better to add Necas and Drury to fill depth. Avs now have 2x 2nd's and prospects to load up.
If the avs actually have a hard line of no more than mackinnon I think it’s dumb to trade rantanen even though I love getting necas and drury. If they were offering him up to like 13-13.5 and he said no then I think it’s fair to trade him.
Necas is not a good defensive player. Maybe he is a hair better than Rantanen, but he gets lost in the defensive zone. He does have the ability to strip players of the puck though at times
Die hard avs fan here, i hate to see Miko go. He is a top 5 point scorer in the league, and I loved his chemistry with Nate. On the surface this looks terrible however there was no way in hell the avs were going to be able to afford miko with makar shaping up to be the next bobby orr, both makar and Nate are going to soak up too much cap space and miko was going to be a $10 mill contract easy. Avs didn't want to be in the Leafs' situation.
Avs weren't in a leafs situation. Leafs win in regular season, get to playoffs, and get shit on because their players can't handle it. Mikko, Makar, and MacK all great in post season.
Judging by some of the comments of Canes fans, i'm starting to think maybe I'm way off on that one. Mikko can be okay, you just get really low effort more than you would like. Guess we'll see.
Im a canes fan and we got fleeced, you gave up a core auperstar for a ufa whos going to walk, we had a first and prospects who we could of got a top six forward in teturn , worst trade ever
I mean the Canes are more likely to resign him and Necas was not likely to resign Necas after his two years are up. Canes have a whole lot of cap space to work with this offseason.
@@CANE-ty3kv true he’s amazing. Next year he’s definitely getting a roster spot and I think Morrow has a good chance to also get a roster spot since he’s also been a beast in the AHL.
@ well Morrow needed a year first playing pro so they put him in the AHL. Plus now they have Morrow ready to replace one of the aging vets and Walker there to fill a roster spot.
Casual take, judging this trade so early acting like Necas is a bum and Rantanen is leagues ahead of him, they are the same caliber of player, just wait 2 years from now
STUPIDEST TRADE IN AVS HISTORY. Rantanen didn't even expect this and said he was willing to take less than his market value to stay with the avs. I've been a fan since the beginning and this is the most devastated feeling I've ever had in sports, even when we lose in the playoffs. Can't believe it
The above Panarin salary line was considered “taking less”, his market value realistically is above the Mackinnon contract. Whether you like it or not, there’s a team out there willing to give 13 million for that caliber of player. Same thing goes for Marner. Point is, if he was willing to take less he woulda took an offer similar to Panarins. That obviously hadn’t happened, and he most likely rejected the best offer the Avs were willing to give.
I felt like I got punched in the gut when I got the news, ironically at a bar in NC. Then I got out of my feelings and came back to reality. First off, I'm a Life long fan that lives in NC and has missed watching exactly 8 games in the last 5 years.🙋 Here's the reality, was priced out of Colorado the second Draisaitl signed his deal. Sure he might have taken "a hometown deal." That hometown deal was still more than the Av's could afford as long as it was over 11 mil.. which it was. Let's say that wasnt the case though...Miko would take 12-14 mil, Mac is 12.6 mil, cale will get 16-20 mil, Landy gets 8 mil to give motivational speeches atm. You are talking 40-50 mil, of less than 100 mil cap, to pay 4 players for the next 6-8 years. Could no longer afford players like lechy, Val, Druin and other top 6 guys. They'd be replaced with bottom 6 variety, on a team that already has trouble with anyone out side of top line contributing. The Av's were going to be hamstrung with a top heavy team and be a 1st, maybe 2nd, round exit team for the next 6-8 years. Wasting the prime of 2 of the best players in NHL history. If we learned anything the year we won it is that DEPTH WINS CUPS. Lack of depth has been our issue since. We traded Mikko and his salary, for a player that is faster, younger, cheaper and I'd argue has a similar ceiling to Mikko. AND got a third line center who can win faceoffs and can add some production. AND got draft capital and salary cap to add even more depth.
@@JAYYVOOyeah, even at 11 million, the Av's would have been hamstrung with 4 contracts taking nearly 50% of the cap once Cale gets paid. He will get whatever he wants and will no doubt be the richest contract in NHL history. Likely 16-20 mil for 7-8 term. Top heavy teams make playoffs, depth wins cups. Just ask Edmonton, rangers, maple leafs etc. love Mikko but avalanche are better today and more importantly, in the future because of this trade.
@@donkeydiehard879 16-20 million is impossible. 17 mil is the max allowable by the CBA. He won’t get over 14 mil. Probably 13.5 or 13.75. Have to compare it to other contracts in the league.
I don't like the trade for a few reasons that most people haven't mentioned. Necas is a great player. I don't discount that at all. I think we're a little worse off overall for goals and such, but not so much it destroys our chances. My issues are these: 1. Necas is not nearly as physical and is less likely to hit and scrum. This leaves mackinnon out there, alone, in those scrums until nuke comes back... maybe. Drouin can be physical, but he's not Mikko. 2. This feels like the death of the team we waited 15 years for. You don't often get the chance to build a team like this. Seeing mikko go only makes me think that the management team is prepping a blow up in 1-2 years. 3. Top end potential took a massive hit. The two players that rivaled mcdavid and draisatl were Mack and Mikko. We are already falling down the differential rankings and now... 20-30 goals are gone. 4. This feels rushed due to the money Mikko wanted. We're over a month from the deadline. It feels like macfarland offered Rantanen $11.75m and mikko wanted to negotiate, so macfarland made a move akin to "we don't negotiate with terrorists" to set the standard in the locker room. All that said. We are undoubtedly worse offensively. We may see similar chemistry with Mack, but not likely. So... we drop 10% cane's go up 20% and we simply lost.
if they got kk instead of drury i would have been insanely pissed off. kk is a cap dump not someone you add to get mikko fucking rantanen. drury is a total beauty.
it wouldn't make sense. avs could just resign rantanen at that point lol. I loved drury with wood and colton last game. it's really relentless gritty line
People doesnt know that Necas have very weak mentality. He have no skillset or stats where he is better than Rantanen. Finns have workermind with high hockeyIQ and slavic players more artists and cant play solid hole season at same level.

I hated losing Necas as well, but after his 2 year deal, he was done with Carolina anyway. I believe it was for the best going ahead and letting him go. At least we got something good out of the trade.
@@DefendNC97 If he signs
How good is he .... tell us.
Less than a point a game
@@winkletown8828 he literally has more than a point per game this season. If you mean his overall, he always played some 3rd line minutes and no 1st PP unit. And yes, those things actually matter, mate.
Necas today had an insane assist and was all over the ice. I think both teams won this trade and if there is a slight edge, I’d give it to the Canes. Chicago….well they tried and took some of Rantanen’s salary.
Canes only win if they sign him and I promise they don’t want to compete once free agency opens because he will be north of 14M AAV
Cup would be a win too. @nerdiousmaximus2222
@@nerdiousmaximus2222we have 35m in cap
nah, necas and drury plus cap space is way better than mikko.
mikko is great but necas looks batter so far and drury is a total beast, exactly what the avs needed.
I think this was a great trade for Colorado.
First of all, I'm an Avs fan as well
Everything you described between you and your buddy went through, me and my buddy went through when this news first hit. He walks into the break room in pure shock (we work together and I was on break) and tells me in the most heartbroken voice I've ever heard from him "Dude, we just traded Rantanen, no joke"
Needless to say, for the next hour or so no work was done as we scrolled hockey twitter for the final details in this trade
My first reaction was visceral, as I couldn't believe what I was seeing and hearing.
As a Canes fan I watched the Avs game because I wanted to make sure Necas and Drury were playing well.
Fantastic video. I was hoping to see something like that. 96 in read is an eye sore thats for sure :D
As an Avs fan, it pains me to see Mikko leave, but Necas was a force to reckon with post season.
Stamkos was a UFA signing. Not a trade.
Avs definitely get a low key win here. They improve defensively at 2 positions and have more room and capital to maneuver and fill other holes.
Necas is not better defensively. At best it’s a wash there. He’s just younger, cheaper, and under team control longer. He’s a great player but I urge you to not be fooled that he’s a defensively responsible player. He’s flashy and talented especially as a skater and stick handler.
@@mattmacknight3000Not like Rantannen is a defensive wiz as a winger
That's just a fact."
Can you please explain how that is a fact?
@@CarolinaBuckrushtwo games -4 😂
@@tossajanain2011 yeah he’s not good defensively
Avs fan here.. shocked. But after reflection it makes sense.
Many canes fans were not as excited as you may think
A reason Necas never played center with the Canes is because he did not play defense.
I think it hurts now for the Avs but I think Mack is gonna love having someone on his line that can keep up with him speed-wise, Necas is deceptively speedy and has that KILLER one-tee off the posts 😂
As a Cane fan, I like our trade. But I hate to see Necas go but I'm glad to have Mikko. Us Cane fan are happy for the trade but sad (mixed emotions)
Necas is fantastic at using all that speed to go into the offensive zone all by himself and turn the puck over.
You’re fantastic at showing the world you’re a deadbeat on social media
@chinooktx lol you’re an angry little guy aren’t you?
I mean, that happens when teammates can’t keep up…. Maybe his speed is just a better fit in Colorado.
@@tannern2280 You calling him angry while coming here shitting on Necas to cope that he left your team. Make it make sense 😂
@@acejm2233 The Canes expect to put an over PPG player on the 3rd line with two deadbeats and wonder why he aint no Rantanen 😂
What are the chances Colorado picks up Crosby?
Watching Mckinnon reaction, he lost a good friend, and he's totally bummed out, of course he's a pro and will continue to be top dog... but you can really see he lost a good friend and teammate. These guys are humans ... AND the business side of the sport can be brutal sometimes. Probably the right move for the Avs , something Toronto could learn in dealing with highly skilled elite players coming to a UFA negotiation.
Sad to see nate so upset. Would be crazy if they got crosby. Theyre such good friends off ice it could totally happen. Would be insane
After two games I think we might be better on the ice after the trade. But, what I worry about is the loss in the locker room / personal life of the guys.
moser mistook necas for mackinnon today vs the rangers.
Canes fan here. You’re not gonna want Necas at Centre. At least not if you value defense at all. There’s a reason Rod hadn’t put him there.
So hes a glorified winger
Well, there is also a reason Rod hasnt won a round in the two Conference finals Canes played in the last 6 years.
It hurts seeing Mikko in another jersey
Avs are fucin insane trading a franchise Wing back to back 100 points
i cried when i saw rantanen got traded
Im blown away by anyone thats a paying attention fan, that didn't know the moment the season started without a signed contract, there was a better than 50/50 chance he was being traded. Every month that went up, at the tradedeadline it would have been close to 100. This is not Rantanen, this is SOP for players in any sport going into their Full Free agent years. Member Kadri? Thats the one scenario where the roll with it, older guy, guaranteed cup rup. Thats the exception that proves the rule.
I feel like necas is going to pop off on the aves... The players around you will help you do better
Nečas definitely isnt overperforming "based on his contract"...
its just crazy. if rantannen signs anything less than 13.5 im going to be disappointed. Idk how tight the avs cap is but you have to keep 100 point guys when you have them. I hope I'm wrong. Mikko was my favorite Av (besides Landy) and it feels like I personally took a hit lol but life goes on!
Yeah he's big and handsome but this was a brilliant move by the Avs.
What I want to know is do these mid season acquisitions live in hotels until sign a long term contract with a no trade clause? Who pays?
Colorado win the trade in long term
Literally people forget why mikko is better. it’s sheer size and puck control. nothing necas can control
Broadly I think Necas is a bit more engaged but Rantanen's positioning is a bit better.
necas is not -4
It's much more likely for Rantanen to resign Av's than the Canes. Outside of the contenders, the asking price is max cap.
The moose got done dirty by his agent.
If the avs actually have a hard line of no more than mackinnon I think it’s dumb to trade rantanen even though I love getting necas and drury. If they were offering him up to like 13-13.5 and he said no then I think it’s fair to trade him.
Mikko is gonna demand $12-14M next year. Money the Avs can’t pay
Mcdavid praises Necas….. sooo….. great trade.
AVS fan give more AVS content and I did not see it coming
There'll be more!
"Die hard fan" - doesn't even know the star players name...
Avs weren't in a leafs situation. Leafs win in regular season, get to playoffs, and get shit on because their players can't handle it. Mikko, Makar, and MacK all great in post season.
As a lifelong hurricanes fan on one hand LET'S GO on the other hand I really hope we can resign him
Have fun with that contract negotiation carolina he isn’t gonna take a discount
canes won this trade easily
Avs got good depth. Depth wins championships in hockey. If Mikko is just a rental for half a season, then we'll see who the true winner is.
As a cames fan i was beyond livid with necas being moved dont think it was worth it, too mamy cooks in the kitchen at this point
88 stronger faster younger plays with Mac
Lets do a video on the second day.
is rantanen the worst winger in the league defensively? cuz i cant believe you got "better" defensively by adding necas
Judging by some of the comments of Canes fans, i'm starting to think maybe I'm way off on that one. Mikko can be okay, you just get really low effort more than you would like. Guess we'll see.
Canes clearly won the trade. Stupid trade by Colorado.
I just do not understand how would Rantanen want Draisaitl money. There is just no way he is worth that. He is not as good as Draisaitl. Period.
@CarolinaBuckrush and hopefully they get Alexander Nikishin over here in time for the playoffs that dudes a beast
@@CANE-ty3kv true he’s amazing. Next year he’s definitely getting a roster spot and I think Morrow has a good chance to also get a roster spot since he’s also been a beast in the AHL.
@CarolinaBuckrush yeah I would of liked to see morrow out there instead of sean walker this season
@ well Morrow needed a year first playing pro so they put him in the AHL. Plus now they have Morrow ready to replace one of the aging vets and Walker there to fill a roster spot.
Casual take, judging this trade so early acting like Necas is a bum and Rantanen is leagues ahead of him, they are the same caliber of player, just wait 2 years from now
It's just on paper speculation. With any trade you don't truly know until time does it's thing
Thinking Necas will be better on defense is definitely copium/hopium
🤣
STUPIDEST TRADE IN AVS HISTORY. Rantanen didn't even expect this and said he was willing to take less than his market value to stay with the avs. I've been a fan since the beginning and this is the most devastated feeling I've ever had in sports, even when we lose in the playoffs. Can't believe it
He was never gonna get over 11-12 million in Colorado. Canes can offer 13-14 million
First off, I'm a Life long fan that lives in NC and has missed watching exactly 8 games in the last 5 years.🙋
Here's the reality, was priced out of Colorado the second Draisaitl signed his deal.
What if Rantanen and the Avs plotted this trade just to have Rantanen re-sign after this seasons over 👀🤷
Might be a big brain play
Probably just a smooth brain take on your end
I don't like the trade for a few reasons that most people haven't mentioned.
Necas is a great player. I don't discount that at all. I think we're a little worse off overall for goals and such, but not so much it destroys our chances.
My issues are these:
Bad move trading rantanen
Sakic wouldn’t
He'd by an idiot if he didn't pull this trade. The best Avs could do in their situation.
if they got kk instead of drury i would have been insanely pissed off. kk is a cap dump not someone you add to get mikko fucking rantanen.
drury is a total beauty.
it wouldn't make sense. avs could just resign rantanen at that point lol. I loved drury with wood and colton last game. it's really relentless gritty line
The tax rules in Carolina will heavily dictate his ask. Friendly tax means lower contract, simple as that.
When the Moses production falls off the cliff and signs with another team for $15m
People doesnt know that Necas have very weak mentality. He have no skillset or stats where he is better than Rantanen. Finns have workermind with high hockeyIQ and slavic players more artists and cant play solid hole season at same level.
