    I think the reason we aren't talking about Hikaru, in turn, also learning about Magnus and his weaknesses, is the implicit concession that Magnus is flat out better chess player. So from that standpoint, Magnus already had the advantage and giving him 40 games to study him cemented the advantage instead of maintaining the element of surprise.

      Magnus has no obvious weaknesses that you can take advantage of.
      His weakness may be that he doesn't know every single opening and every single line it can go. That's not much of a weakness, no one knows every opening.
      Another weakness may be that he can't calculate 50 moves ahead, only 49. It's not like anyone else can calculate the 50th move anyway, so they can't take advantage of it.

    what hikaru says doesn't make sense, he wasn't able even once to play for the world title. if he got there and lost with magnus he could use that as an excuse otherwise it's just embarrassing to use that

  • @peterers3
    @peterers3 9 месяцев назад

    Magnus exposed Hikaru to his own weaknesses. Yes he exploited it but it also gave Hikaru the chance to be much better against everyone else BUT magnus who figured this out.

  • @smaklilu90

    Magnus has better memorization skill than hikaru. Hikaru is now the raining world champion on Fischer random chess. A variation of chess that avoids opening theory memorization and forces players to calculate or use their intuition from the very first move.
    People who don't understand chess are taking Hikaru's comment as some sort of ego defense. Hikaru is a phenomenal player who understands his strength and weakness. And his results prove that. He never lost to magnus in Fischer random chess!!!!
    I am not saying this to minimize the talent of Magnus. But I take the sentiment of the great Bobby Fischer, modern chess has become memorization of engine lines and less intuition. The beauty of chess is the intentional aspect of it, that's why I like Fischer Random chess

Very good by Naka, Magnus still couldve done better if he wouldve played faster, he scrumbled too much bcz of time haha Naka was/is way faster and thats why he probably won and he was very strong. Still Magnus is better at rapid if you ask me, magnus has the numbers in the online events last years, magnus has been as active as Naka in rapid while in blitz, Magnus wasnt favourite. Everyone knows both of them would win, probably more Naka cz hes faster

      You have no idea what you're talking about. Magnus' strength is intuition and he doesn't like prep either. And he has beat Hikaru several times in Fischer random chess.

    I am clearly missinng something. Chess is just a game totally worked out with set openings, moves, traps etc.,... if I learn these and attain a certain level I am simply a robot spewing out the computations of others. Most people are just playing what they have been taught evidently. There is no art. There is no Picasso. It is a bit sad especially if there is no money involved.

      Most of their free time requires constant attention to chess. Not many friends or relationships because of commitment to the game.
      Not an enjoyable lifestyle in my opinion 🥺
