@@cameronthegreat1 considering Fuji's firmware struggles in 2024 and their shift to Chinese manufacturing, I'm glad they haven't done a Pro4 yet. If it ever comes, I'd rather it be done right than quick.
I’m with you on the X-Pro 3, it is amazing. I love the screen, but I was disappointed with the OVF magnification adjustment being missing from the 2 and 2. I really really hope they keep the ability to hide the screen on the 4!
Leica M10R is my EDC, a close second is my SL2 with Sigma 35mm f2. I had the XPro2 then XPro3 prior to purchasing my M10R. I did enjoy the XPro series, so much fun to shoot with, but when changing over with Leica I wanted to get back to full frame and with M10R getting the full Rangefinder experience. I’m 65 now and after a 40 year pro career, it’s nice to shoot whatever I want just for the fun of it. Still have my Hasse and a few other film cameras from the old days, but no more film for me, I spent way too many long hours in the darkroom. Happy shooting !

Everything you mentioned about tradition, design, and storytelling resonated with me. I currently have the M11M and X100VI as well as a full Nikon system and wish I could pre-order an XPro 4 (to avoid another six-month wait😊). Not only are your two cameras beautiful representations of the respective companies’ histories, but your set-up, with the dark background and wood desktop really added to the classic look. Wonderful video, very personal insights and bits of history, thank you Take. I have the X-Pro3 and X-H2 and feel exactly the same as you spoke about them. Yeah, the X-Pro3 is special and dear to my heart. Have not gotten into the world of Leica as the price of admission is high. But I think about it!
Glad you have both cameras. It’s nice to have a smaller, more fun camera. I was deciding between the X100V and X-Pro3 as they came out just a couple of months apart, but decided my X100F was good enough and I couldn’t pass up the X-Pro3. By the time the camera launched, I had it for 3 months, so I was already attached to it!!

The X-Pro3 is a camera I love. Going way back, 1973, I spent the summer washing dishes for my first camera, a Fujica ST801 with Fujinon 50mm f1.4. Wish I had it today.
The excitement when the X-pro1 came out was just insane. Same with the Leica M8 & M9 but they were way out of my budget. Good to see both companies still doing well from those camera models.
I've toyed with the idea of the xpro3 for a long time! But happy with my combo of the nikon zf with m mount glass. Decided my main glass is m mount. Just took a trip to the Grand Canyon and Sedona, AZ with the XPro-3 and XH2S and took more shots on hikes with the XPro3 because it is just a little more compact for hikes. Love hearing your stories, Take!
Awesome, but having the X-H2S is great just in case you need it for video or for IBIS. But during the day in good light, for sure the X-Pro3 is awesome!!
My favorite cameras to use in 2024 were the Leica M10 R and Richo GRIII... got the 28mm focal length covered on the Richo and it can go anywhere with me, no excuse not to have it with me at all times... then the M10R with 50mm apo almost always but also with a 28mm Voigtlander 1.5 for low light interior shots. - for 2025 I feel like the Fuji GFX100s will be my most favorite camera. Picked it up late 2024. Love this thing with the Mitakon 65mm 1.4. Just wish there was a fast 28mm equivalent option for it.
Great choices. GRIII was my daily until I got spoiled by the zoom lens on the D-Lux8. GFX100S with adapters and compact primes would be an awesome daily, although I still want the body more compact. Hopefully Fujifilm will give the GFX50R another chance, as well as a GFX100RF or something like that.
Love my M10r but always wanted to try out the x-pro. Also, you’re the first person [at 9:10] to pronounce “Nikon”using actual Japanese vowels. For those who like to correct the American version, the British pronunciation is just as bad.
My 2 favorite Cameras for 2024 are the Leica M10R, with the Elmarit 28, 35, 50 and 125. Then I had a canon m converted to a full spectrum camera that I used for IR photography. Traveling I took the M10R, the Canon M and 1 film camera. That Film Camera is the Fujifilm TX-1
Intrigued by Leica but have not taken the plunge due to the cost. I have several Fujis (X100s and interchangeable lens bodies) and really enjoy the system. Maybe on a day I am feeling YOLO I will get a Leica. LOL.
If you shoot film, Leica isn’t that expensive to get into, but film is expensive. Also a good start is collecting M mount lenses, no matter what mount you shoot. They’re compact, very unique characteristics, and you’ll almost never lose money on them if you keep them for a while.
Love your German watch! Never heard of them! Sweet cameras too. I recently bought the M10 Monochrom and a 50 cron. Amazing stuff! Was considering the M11 but actually prefer how the M10M/M10R feels, looks and sounds. The 11 has a different working shutter which I don’t like the sound of so much. Also think it was a mistake to remove the plate on the 11.
M10M is so unique, the only 40MP Monochrom camera, and same as M10-R, the only 40MP colour sensor. Great combo. And yes the shutter sounds different. I also like the sound of my M10-R :-)
We must be the same person. I shot with an X-Pro3 for many years and looooved it, before moving to Leica and landing on M10-R and M10M, which are my 'forever' cameras. I also have an SL2-S for bad weather, AF, and telephoto, and I like a lot about it, including the beautiful EVF, but it's so big and heavy and I often think about going back to an X-Pro3 with the 18/2, 35/1.4, and a long zoom. The X-Pro3 is a special and beautiful camera, it represents everything that I admire about Fujifilm, and I might be happier with it as an alternative to the Ms, rather than the SL platform.

hello thanks for all your videos . I like them a lot . Question : are you able to mount the 50mm Elmar on the M10R without any issue ? i was told the lens back is too long and may damage the M10R sensor ? best regrads ? Daniel
Yes I double checked with my friends at Leica Store SFO and they said it was okay. I’ve been using it on my M10R for over a year and no problem. The only cameras you have to be really careful is with the Leica M5 and Leica CL (film version). It also won’t work on the SL series with an adapter.
What keeps you on the 35/1.4 instead of a WR lens with the Pro3? I wish there was a comparable 35/1.4 with WR, but living in Vancouver I just can't rationalize having a weather sealed body with a non-WR lens.
I’ve written a couple of articles on Fujilove Magazine comparing these two lenses, as well as a dedicated RUclips video here: ruclips.net/video/B4sxeIjg1jc/видео.htmlsi=1aTs__RJJT_ADK41
X-Pro3 pop out LCD failure is a real thing! Expect to not be able to use that part after a year or two. But otherwise, X-Pro3 really does a great job. I would only say it's a little on the wide side.
X-Pro3 is 5 years old now and the vast majority of the screens are totally fine. It looked more like people trying to over extend the screens that was causing the failure rather than a defect. My screen is totally fine - I just open it 90-120 degrees rather than the full 180 to even having to worry about it.
I’ve used my screen since I bought it brand new and I’ve had no issues. At the same time, I rarely use it other than to check the image or change a setting. Even then I try to use it as if it doesn’t have an LCD. If you really use the LCD a lot, then the camera isn’t for you. I say get an X-T5. I hope maybe the new screen on the X-Pro4 can have the hinge on the bottom that allows the screen to articulate around completely, so you can either have it facing inwards or outwards, your choice. That solves the problem for both groups. I’d keep it closed 99% of the time, while others will keep it open 99% of the time except when storing. Let’s see what happens.
Hi there. Been a follower for some time now, great produce. I've had the X Pro 1 in the past and loved it but sold it some time back and concentrated on my Leicas. I still consider getting another X Pro version but the X Pro 3 seems to be discontinued and there are forum posts that question the reliability of the fold down screen. What are your views or knowledge of this? Best regards..
The screen issues seem to be with people who were effectively straining the ribbon cable. Just don't open the screen wide open and it seems to be fine. I only open mine about 90-120 degrees. But yes, you'll need to buy one secondhand.
They won’t do it because that means an entire new line-up of lenses, which they don’t have the bandwidth to do. They can barely keep up manufacturing their popular camera bodies. But I think for larger sensor cameras, the GFX line-up is the way to go. Keep your eyes and ears peeled…..
100%. It’s like buying a car based on specs, and not a test drive. A camera can have the best specs but if you don’t like the way it feels in your hands, I say don’t buy it. You need to connect with the camera as if it’s an extension of your hands and eyes.
@bigheadtaco, I won’t wax as poetically as you have about the Leica M10-R and the Fujifilm X-Pro3 but I own them both. I plan to shoot my M10-R until it stops working unless… Leica’s M12 has a built in EVF like the Q. If that happens I might consider buying one. As for the X-Pro3, mine functions as a full replica of the Leica M-D because my sub-monitor and LCD no longer work which makes it impossible to sell. Not to mention, I don’t really want to sell it. For all the complaints about that screen, I still think the X-Pro3 is the best digital mirrorless camera Fujifilm has ever created for photography in the spirit of the Leica rangefinder to date. I do agree that Fujifilm screwed the pooch by not using the new battery with the X-Pro3 that’s used in all of their cameras now sans the X-100 series. If the LCD didn’t have the issues it had with having to be replaced or not working at all, most people who’ve complained about it wouldn’t have complained about the camera at all. As a photographer, I wish they didn’t include any video specs in the camera and made it a true digital rangefinder. The French company PIXII figured it out with their first camera and used the same sensor that’s in the X-Pro3. So it can be done. Alas, I’ve given up hope that Fujifilm will release the X-Pro4 and I’ve heard rumours that it will be an X-Pro5 in 2026. I’m no longer willing to wait for that camera since their focus is obviously centered around the X-100 series on the APS-C side and continued progress with the GFX cameras. Especially with the impending release of a fixed lens GFX camera. That said, I know longer shoot with my X-Pro3 and picked up the Nikon Zf instead. When I travel, it goes with me and my M10-R. I don’t really care about autofocus because I typically share my Voigtlander M lenses with both camera systems. Saves me money and allows me to shoot the same way with both kits. It’s my hope Fujifilm will get it together for all the people who need great autofocus and they get back to addressing the needs of pure photographers.
I love my X-Pro 3 and I enjoy the idea of reverse back screen. It's a camera to enjoy taking photos of first before viewing photos. If anything, it's a perfect blend of what Leica M-D series wanted to do and Fujifilm's earlier X-Pro series
Yes I think the execution of the X-Pro3 was almost perfect. I wish it had HDMI out and the rear dial was also push-in. I know they didn’t want people to use this as a video camera, but I didn’t like them purposely cripple hammering it. That’s what Canon does!!
@@bigheadtaco I'd be happy to see the USB-C port changed to support HDMI alt mode rather than trying to cram a full size HDMI slot in the body. If anything, I'd like a second USB-C port with video support rather than a mini/micro HDMI port.
I know I realized that after. The K Mount to me is actually the most important SLR mount of all time. It was considered a universal mount and many manufacturers made K mount cameras and lenses. Maybe I’ll do a segment on it one day.
Leica M240 is my daily carry. I've been through every single Fuji and have been left disappointed time and time again. Fuji did great with the XP2 and the XP3 screen was a nightmare to deal with. Fuji would wipe out Leica if they released a full frame camera with a proper AF and a real manual focus option and not that focus by wire garbage!
Personally, I hate the X-Pro 3 because it killed the X-Pro line. A few months after it came out Fuji has a whole new battery, fixing the major problem of these cameras...so surely there will be an X-pro with the new battery at some point. Nope. Ok, X-T5 out which finally puts actually good autofocus in an X series camera. Surely now an X-Pro update, especially since they discontinued the X-Pro 3 shortly before that. Nope, still nothing. If you want an X-Pro your option is to spend $1600 buying a used camera with an out of date low battery life and out of date autofocus system. I guess Fuji knows what it is doing, because it makes its money selling Instax and sells all the X100 it can make, but it sure is alienating as someone who has been with the system from the start.
Sorry you don’t like the X-Pro3, but I am positive it’s not a dead series. Just like the gap between all the X-Pro series cameras, Fujifilm has always taken their time with this camera. You’re right about the battery, but also about a lot of other things. Because there is so much time between models, it has always felt behind. The X-Pro4 is coming, but it will most likely skip the 5th generation sensor and processor and will launch the new 6th generation sensor and processor combo. I am also confident it will have the NP-W235 battery and IBIS. Let’s just wait and see.
@bigheadtaco I sure hope you are right. I would be very happy with simply the X Pro3 with the current battery and AF. If the secondary market prices were suitable for the age of the camera, i would just buy a used 3, but I got stuck waiting for an update that never came.
Why would you think the X-Pro is dead? Releases for X-Pro have been 2012, 2016, and 2019. The technology in the Pro3 isn't that different from the X-T5 aside from more MP and a bigger battery. You're acting like it's a Pro1.
the pro3 OVF downgrade was a big disappointment and I left the fuji system, not to mention the lack of good third party lens. gone to sony full frame and much happier, the body don't matter nearly as much as using an actual manual focus lens from voigtlander and leica. hopefully sony can wake up and release a range finder body as well. (or nikon)
X-pro3's screen design is a disaster. That's one of the big reasons it did not sell well! I hope they can get rid of that. They need better OVF and EVF design with special sensor only for X-pro
Different strokes. I love the Pro3 screen. The OVF is great, I just with they hadn't ditched the dual magnification from the Pro2. The EVF is exceptional. Considering they "didn't sell well" there's still a massive demand on the secondhand market for the Pro3.

@@iamhassan9943thanks for the offer. I have a rule that I will only review gear on a regular basis if I get it sent directly from the manufacturer. That’s why you see I don’t review a wide breadth of gear, and that’s okay. I am working on connecting with Panasonic, so thanks for the offer, I appreciate it. Stay tuned :-)
@@bigheadtaco No worries. Absolutely understandable! 👍🏽
hello thanks for all your videos .
@bigheadtaco will have a look - thanks!
Leica M10 with the 35mm f/1.4 is my everyday camera
Awesome!!
Depends on the previous user, but mine is the first batch in Januarary of 2020 and it’s been perfectly fine for 5 years.
Flexin with the black paint!!! Nice!!!
😂😂😂
I would like to see a new X-Pro line go full frame… similar to the Nikon ZF.
They won’t do it because that means an entire new line-up of lenses, which they don’t have the bandwidth to do. They can barely keep up manufacturing their popular camera bodies. But I think for larger sensor cameras, the GFX line-up is the way to go. Keep your eyes and ears peeled…..
@bigheadtaco Yes I thought of that but I am just wishing out loud. 😉
@@snaps777😅😅😅
I'm happy to have Nikon cover that niche. The Z mount lenses are enormous compared to XF lenses.
In my opinion it's how they feel in hand as well as in the field.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience.
If we have to pick one of those two.. we all know which one we're picking.
Talking about camera manufacturers who keep using a lens mount you talk about Leica and Nikon but forget to mention Pentax (for shame 😉)
I know I realized that after. The K Mount to me is actually the most important SLR mount of all time. It was considered a universal mount and many manufacturers made K mount cameras and lenses. Maybe I’ll do a segment on it one day.
@ You are forgiven 😁. By the way my all time favorite camera is my Rolleiflex 2.8D
@@mrdasboot45amazing camera. Twin lens reflex cameras are special.
The X-Pro3 is a beautiful camera. Great camera & watch talk 👍🏻
Thanks for watching!!
Beautiful/
The flip screen is a big fail
@@johanstam3602for some, yes.
(or nikon)
Never buy an x-pro 3. The screen dies on almost all units.
As beautiful and fun it is to use, it's an enormous flaw
X-pro3's screen design is a disaster. That's one of the big reasons it did not sell well! I hope they can get rid of that. They need better OVF and EVF design with special sensor only for X-pro
Different strokes. I love the Pro3 screen.
The OVF is great, I just with they hadn't ditched the dual magnification from the Pro2. The EVF is exceptional.
Considering they "didn't sell well" there's still a massive demand on the secondhand market for the Pro3.
@ yea yea yea. It is good for you if you like mediocre. I did not read after “EVF is exceptional” :))
@@GKhanKutar you can go buy an X-T5 if you like. Also, define what a "special sensor" entails and what would constitute a "better" OVF and EVF.
@ i buy what i want to buy. Not gonna ask you but for sure
@GKhanKutar you didn't answer my questions.
