Kuka robotics makes industrial robots mostly. The recent release from Boston Dynamic: the mini robotic dog may play a better game if a metal arm with a butterfly blade and rubber are installed. More important, it has legs. Really scary !
Me da gusto volver a ver este video La primera vez que lo vi recién me estaba adentrando al deporte Hoy después de 6 años lo vuelvo a ver ya sabiéndolo jugar a la perfección 😁
Guys, who told you it was a real match... It was an amazing advertising move by KUKA with a very nice result. I really enjoyed it, and so you probably did. For God's sake you geek, technical, narrow minded guys. You make feel embarassed that we share common interests.
Sorry but I have to disagree with the negative comments. Of course we still don't have technology for that. What I liked is use a charismatic and sportsmanship like Timo Boll plus put table tennis as evidence. Of course the ad could be better, maybe we have to wait another 30 years to have a good machine that can compete with man.
People who didn't read the description may not realise this is an _advertisment_ ... "a vision" ... a "realistic preview". A lot of people in the comments here have assumed this is real ... and the fact that it is not should have been stated more clearly for some. Where is the vision system? How were there so many camera angles (including some mobile) ... yet no camera ever caught sight of another? This is a good example for brushing up on your critical thinking skills, so as to be less likely to become duped in future.
Timo boll should not make such an edited tt video considering his legendary name unless it is a real game like in a tournament. Legend has its own distinct, Boll ?
they made tony stark's robotic thing with a camera that kept trying to put him out when testing his suit. (dont know its name if it has one) lol. perfect
I love watching this while listening to the song Titanium by David Guetta or the one featuring Within Temptation, if anyone wants to see start either song at 0:06 right when they show the man's face, the entire thing is really uplifting =3
Shite! I was waiting soooo eagerly to see this vid thinking (how naively) that they may have made a robot that could at least play a game of table tennis to an approximate human standard. What a massive dissapointment! Robot v Timo, pah! In their defence I'd never heard of Kuka before-hand, so job done in the awareness stakes, however in condemation, their robot is utterly incapabale of performing the task in hand, would'nt want it bulding my jet engines...
tsp the ball barely over the net down the line. The robot will most likely not be able to reach that far but if it manages to, no matter where it returns the ball it leave the other side wide open for a smash
pour le robot, je ne sais pas, mais pour le cinéaste vous pouvez le virer. Il n'est pas payé pour nous "faire son cinéma" mais pour retranscrire une action. Un conseil à la direction : pour le prochain film, embauchez une machine.
It would be nice to see just one complete point without any of that stupid jump cut editing. Why not also have available a video of the complete match for us real table tennis fans?

The people at KUKA have no integrity for doing this. We were all expecting a live match of man vs. machine and instead we get this overly edited bullshit with quick cuts, slow motion and close-ups (used to hide its fakeness) as well as what is supposed to be inspirational music and sound effects to supposedly make it more interesting (name one sport that does that during play) . The people at KUKA who made and marketed this campaign are scumbags.
Common guys, I think it was all clear, that it's gonna be a commercial and nothing special. That it's not real is also clear, it wouldn't be that exiting for the audience with these special effects.
Yea I agree with you but this is the official ITTF channel, they broadcast matches..so,we expected a genuine table tennis match..plus if this were a real table tennis match, I'm sure table tennis would gain more popularity..and as for table tennis lovers like me, we would be more than happy to see something new and exciting..have a good day brother :)
Overedited, all I want is a live game.
its not a real bot its an ad. The computer has no way of seeing the ball lol

What a production!! that was great!!
the problem isnt the comercial, it is what they made us belive...
knowing we all where goona spect a real match, not just a fancy commercial
Would have been a better commercial using Forest Gump 🤣
A good video, a little different, but still a good video and great work.
Timo Boll is so great in table tennis I just can't believe he would lose so many marks!
Countless hours of programming. $30,000 for a one arm robot. The look on the human's face after only round two, priceless...
Super geil produzierte Video. Großes Kino! Und natürlich genialer TT-Spieler :-)

Awesome project, but the video is hardly watchable... too many camera moves and changes. That spoils the whole thing.
KUKA Robot vs KUKA Robot?
para mim o timoboll é o melhor do mundo ele é muinto bom

Yeah, damn dood. Nice catch!!! It's so obvious and not even close. That ball was a good 6 inches to the right of his racket too hahaha
Just set the speed to 0.25 and watch from 1:56.
Since the game started with the service of Timo Boll, so at 6-0, the Robot should have served instead of Timo Boll. :D
my respect
What about XU XIN Robot or MA LONG Robot?
Programmed robots - yes they can play. But they can never demonstrate the sportsman spirit and emotions which make a game - The game.
Now I feel stupid for thinking it was real
We know its fake (it's obvious), but the important thing we are forgetting is that we are advancing in technology, step by step.
