Kuka robotics makes industrial robots mostly. The recent release from Boston Dynamic: the mini robotic dog may play a better game if a metal arm with a butterfly blade and rubber are installed. More important, it has legs. Really scary !
Sorry but I have to disagree with the negative comments. Of course we still don't have technology for that. What I liked is use a charismatic and sportsmanship like Timo Boll plus put table tennis as evidence. Of course the ad could be better, maybe we have to wait another 30 years to have a good machine that can compete with man.
People who didn't read the description may not realise this is an _advertisment_ ... "a vision" ... a "realistic preview". A lot of people in the comments here have assumed this is real ... and the fact that it is not should have been stated more clearly for some. Where is the vision system? How were there so many camera angles (including some mobile) ... yet no camera ever caught sight of another? This is a good example for brushing up on your critical thinking skills, so as to be less likely to become duped in future.

Timo boll should not make such an edited tt video considering his legendary name unless it is a real game like in a tournament. Legend has its own distinct, Boll ?
Shite! I was waiting soooo eagerly to see this vid thinking (how naively) that they may have made a robot that could at least play a game of table tennis to an approximate human standard. What a massive dissapointment! Robot v Timo, pah! In their defence I'd never heard of Kuka before-hand, so job done in the awareness stakes, however in condemation, their robot is utterly incapabale of performing the task in hand, would'nt want it bulding my jet engines...
pour le robot, je ne sais pas, mais pour le cinéaste vous pouvez le virer. Il n'est pas payé pour nous "faire son cinéma" mais pour retranscrire une action. Un conseil à la direction : pour le prochain film, embauchez une machine.
The people at KUKA have no integrity for doing this. We were all expecting a live match of man vs. machine and instead we get this overly edited bullshit with quick cuts, slow motion and close-ups (used to hide its fakeness) as well as what is supposed to be inspirational music and sound effects to supposedly make it more interesting (name one sport that does that during play) . The people at KUKA who made and marketed this campaign are scumbags.
Common guys, I think it was all clear, that it's gonna be a commercial and nothing special. That it's not real is also clear, it wouldn't be that exiting for the audience with these special effects.
