Eli hope you see this. today thanks to you I got a job in Amazon data center. Thank you very much for the information and insight that you share with us.
Finaly a usefull, logical, honest, professionel explanation about Distrobutions. I hate this click bate vidros"whats best linux distro" , just nonsense!
got confused and frustrated by this linux lesson because Im not a good listener gave up and became a floorist. Now laying floors for a living. thanks Eli.
Yes, it is very true about ensuring that your proprietary software works on the Linux version which you are about to upgrade. For example, back in the day, I purchased Maple 8 professional. This worked on a few different operating systems. At that time there was a brilliant Linux distribution SuSE Linux 8 Professional which had a very good user graphical interface, there was also an upgrade CD which I purchased for some features for SuSE Linux 8 Pro. Maple 8 worked brilliantly on SuSE Linux 8, but for it to work on SuSE Linux 9 one would have to purchase Maple 9 which would incorporate any new changes of SUSE Linux 9, for example. A large company may well be able to afford purchasing a new distribution of Maple. But if one has a family to support ... one may decide to keep one's reliable old computer as a dedicated system until one can afford to purchase the new software taking a holistic view. Back then, one only needed to type in the serial number and the software worked, it is more difficult today, with most software needing to be initialised by the software company; this can make things quite difficult when software companies are bought out or fail.
your are great bro, just because of you i am feeling all this boring stuff so interesting. May GOD give you the reward for your this effort. your sincere fan.
The more stripped version you are talking about I assume is "L"ubuntu and not "K"ubuntu . L stands for LXDE which is focused on being a lightweight DE . K stands KDE , that is actually more about aesthetics and their own set of softwares .
Perfect timing, just got to the office! Really loving how you explain Linux in such an understandable way. I'm sure that's come from years and years of learning how to explain things to idiots lol
19:00 "you run up against this in the real world, where the code you are using simply won't run on a newer version (...)" Ran into this wall recently. A rather important application crashes constantly on the latest Windows build. Very frustrating
You can't really take a version that is five versions back because it's probably not maintained anymore. What people too when they realize that this thing does not run the latest ubuntu with the fancy desktop they take the latest version of Xubuntu or Lubuntu wich is the newest version of Ubuntu but with a much lighter desktop that only takes about 100-200 mb of ram.
hey there eli ;] dont know if your use of kali as an example in this episode is representative m yes its a distro of wich there are several versions that are all debian based fork of gnu ,,way to technical for my liking lol and having said that it dosnt quite fit into that category either as it was created and designed specifically for PENETRATION TESTING which you casually refer to as "hacking" i have issues with that but wont go into them here or now lol so kali sits in a strange hole to pigeon as it isnt secure on purpose to allow it to operate as it needs to operate . it isnt designed to be used by a non advanced computer user regardless of operating system allowing any user knowledgeable or otherwise the ability to make changes ...possibly terminal to the os . also kali /ubuntu are functionally almost identical but someone only experienced in ubuntu will be at a disadvantage with that prior knowledge.. or at least this is my take on my journey into linux and kali among other distros
Hey, could you write something like Linux introduction #3 / part 3 in the next videos' title? just to be more clear wich videos are about basic knowledge in the linux.
Hi Eli , When talk about client side OS , majority of peoples using windows 10 as a client OS. If we install Linux as a Server how to convert clients/users to Linux , no one can quickly understand Linux OS Interface. Is Linux Servers can support Windows 10 as a Client OS ?

I am trying for the same - what position if you dont mind sharing? Also do you have a lot IT/Network experience?
I wish that I had a mentor like Eli. Love his thorough explanations and knowledge. Excellent video - thank you.
Been saying that for a while now lol. Truly a great guy!

It's funny to find someone saying "I've been in IT since 1996" (and they feel old) when you've been in IT since 1978.
Oh boi this is gonna be good hehe
Thank you so much. But Audio not loud enough and also some of your videos don’t project audio to both left and right headphones. Please fix

1996? I’ve been doing it from 2006! Very clear I’m ten years younger than you Eli!

This was helpful. My backup plan of being a florist gets held back at least another day
I'm stuck with the unity shell because Xenserver 7.6 doesn't like Ubuntu 18.04 for whatever reason.

Eli-isms.
Many will frown and wonder... and many will question why.
It's a new term. Listen and be amazed
Eli'ism, is like another fork, distribution or version.

Is there any good book on Linux Web Server?

cool
4 gigs of ram is not enough thanks to google chrome! My users get at least 8 GB of ram regardless of OS!
How about freebsd?

Eli, how about you review temple OS? Be as snarky as possible
not a 100% accurate but it's good enough.
Can you get out the whiteboard again, Eli?
It's dnf not yum now grandpa
well, centos/rhel 7 still come with yum as default xD
