I can’t tell you how much I love your blog. Before it was so hard choosing a recipe when I wanted to bake something new. And I was constantly worrying about if I was making the right choice going with one recipe versus another. Your bake offs give me such confidence, and I can pick recipes based on my taste. I recently took the winning apple pie crust from the flour bakery and put it in the bon appetit filling which got 2nd I believe, but sounded more suited to my taste. OMG!!!!! I’m making the winning recipe from your coffee cake right now. This blog is one of the most refreshing things I’ve ever seen in the online baking community. Thank you soooo much!! You have helped me become a better baker. ❤️

Caleb, thank you so much for the kind feedback!! I am so happy you've found the bake offs helpful!! (That apple pie combo sounds SO GOOD.) Question for you: I'm adding a reader testimonial to my blog--would you mind if I use your comment and attribute it to your first name? No pressure if you prefer not!

Wow, thanks! I had been looking for a good Spanish-style churro and I couldn't find a good one. I'm so happy I found this!

I took a quick trip to Madrid to specifically try a traditional churro. They were crispy and thin (compared to its cousin - porros), and dipped in chocolate sauce, they were heavenly. They're not a choux, definitely. No butter, milk, or eggs. Just flour, water and a little salt. I like my dishes to be as authentic as possible so I thank you for not letting me waste my time watching these other RUclipsrs put a spin on this simple dessert that needs nothing more.

When I was stationed in Spain, we would go to the ferias and someone would be there with a big vat of hot oil. We watched him swirl the batter into a coil as it slid down the chute. Omg were they good warm wrapped in paper. Totally different to what I see in this country so I wonder if the name was different. Potato batter and you put on whatever afterwards. Vinegar was popular in moderation. I didnt think it needed anything. They also had the usual add ons, powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar etc

Love this!! 😍❤️ but Costco churros is not what I think about when I think of a traditional churro 😂 I want to know which one tastes closest to the one this old man sells outside of my abuelitas church in Guadalajara? 🤔 it’s pretty fluffy, chewy, rich, and crispy on the outside 😍

I’m sure the Mexican street vendors do not use butter since that is expensive, maybe the use margine or oil 🤷🏽‍♀️ Either way!! Love your videos and IG❤️

@@girlvamonos Ahaha yes, I was cringing at my use of "traditional," def not the right word. Oooh for a fluffy/chewy/rich churro, I would say A Cozy Kitchen! Perhaps My Latina Table or Isabel Eats might also get close! Hope that helps and thanks for the comment!!

My recipe is just flour, baking powder and water. But I dip it in a chocolate that has sugar already, just water 70% chocolate, and corn starch. Low sugar, no salt. I may add vanilla extract to the churro recipe.
