I put some 50mm disc on my Allez Sprint comp last summer. Just love them. Love the way they look, sound, and perform. I use them daily hard and fast with no issues thus far. About to pull the trigger on another set for bike II. ;)
I’m considering these for my Trek Domane SL4. Do you think these are a good option for a bike that will be going up and down hills in town, and occasionally on gravel?
Super team carbon clinchers rock! Everyone who I've recommended these wheels and bought them have agreed. They are light, fast and hold speed well. I've really noticed a difference riding in the draft at over 20mph. That's when you really see the performance. Great looking wheels
@@VincentForDesign I actually like the louder hub sound. People can hear it better than a quieter hub, so it could be said that it’s safer out on the road. Similar to loud pipes save lives on motorcycles 😂
They have mtb wheelsets on Amazon for $520, one of which I just saved to my wish list. I stay in Detroit Michigan right now, so your roads seem a lot like ours LOL. I have a custom built MTB that I use for short commutes and errands besides trail riding (mostly blue trails) Hopefully your review will reflect the quality of the MTB wheels also (that type of bike of course requires more durable parts).
Superteam also offers clincher wheels with an alloy brake surface but they don't look as good as the carbon brake surface. I'm a big guy, no long descents on my routes, and am concerned how well I could stop with carbon brake surface. How effective are your wheels at stopping vs your previous aluminum wheel set?
@@duathlete827 they stop well enough, I’d say not as good as aluminum brake tracks though. Might have to play around with different brake pads though like swiss stop which I’ve heard are the gold standard with carbon rims!
Hi Henry. Thank you for the content. Are you using the brake pads that were provided or ones that could be bought separately (Swiss Stop, Shimano, Enve, Reynolds)?
Baradine and Reynolds Cryo-Blue are recommended for the wet. I'm looking forward to trying my SuperTeam wheels out in the southern Ontario region - will be a nice upgrade for my 18mm wide aluminum rims on a mid 1990's Klein Quantum II. I went for SuperTeam because everyone else had 28mm wide and they _MIGHT_ fit into the rear - it would be really close and SuperTeam 25mm width will be fine.
Thanks for watching! To be honest nothing really 😂 just make sure to check your brake pads and ensure they’re cleaned so there’s no dirt/debris that could wear the rim surface
Thanks for this. I have the same setup (even the ultra sports) out in Victoria, but with only a few weeks on them. I think that they are not as good in the rain as aluminum. I will have to learn to stop less.
Superteam has released their new rim brake with what they are calling K-Brakeline brake pad tracks. They bring faster stops, cooler rim temps, and (possibly) better wet stopping power than the standard basalt tracks. The brake track design sort of borrows from slotted automobile design.
Which rim profile are these? It looks like they have a 23mm wide V shaped profile, but also a wider 25mm profile in the more modern toroidal shape (each in 50mm). Thanks!
I haven’t done anything to balance them yet. You’re right, they seem well balanced even after 3 years (I did a basic check relative to the brake pad). I’ve been riding them through some pretty rough gravel lately so they might need some adjustment now 😂
I haven't really been able to use them outdoors yet with the winter season in Canada. They're not the most adjustable since they're either stem or handlebar mount (I've switched to handlebar mount for greater stability and longer reach). The armpads are 2 positions with an offset of about 15mm. Looking forward to testing them out on the road in a month or so!
I do use the provided brake pads. They stop quick enough for my purposes, but definitely not as quick as aluminum rims. I’ve heard good things about Swiss stop brake pads though!
if you have carved the brake pads into the rim like it looks on the video...the rims should not be used anymore! that looks like delimitation my friend and it can literally blow of you wheel. Death sentence !! you might have been lucky if you ride more on flat but on a long deep descent, like the look now....throw that stuff away. the braking surface is lower than the rest of the wheel and it should be higher or at least even....or is it an optical illusion?
I don’t think it was delamination as I didn’t feel the surface was missing a layer of carbon or was indented in any way. I think it’s was some sort of discolouration or something?
@@henrychungfitness ok ...its very difficult to judge it from a video but it looks that the trace of the pads was imbedded or starting to....now I went with alloy wheels. fulcrum racing 3 they are good

@@GFCoyleWVU that’s exactly what I use mine for. Commuting with some small hills and also gravel trails 👌
I have these wheels in both rim and disc brake. Fantastic is all I can say. If you know, you know
Superteam is definitely a low key brand with great wheels 🔥
Thanks Henry, good video, very helpfull information about the Superteam 50mm cabon wheels, I just order mine today.
Thanks for watching and enjoy the wheels!

Agreed! I’ve been commuting with them lately over bumps and gravel etc and they’re still going strong and fast 🤙
I agree totally once you get over 20 miles per hour that's when they wake up
Thanks for putting this out!
Glad you enjoyed it and enjoy riding!
@@henrychungfitness create more! Btw, how do you deal with loud hub? Is it too loud for you or you like it?

@@TivonSanders it seems like they’re doing good things on the road front, so I’m assuming they’re just as capable in the mountain side of wheel 👍

Do they make that cool sound when braking? Rim brake carbon wheels sometimes sound like a jet engine winding down.
Hi Henry. Thank you for the content. Are you using the brake pads that were provided or ones that could be bought separately (Swiss Stop, Shimano, Enve, Reynolds)?
I’m using the stock pads that came with the wheels. Still plenty of material left which means I need to go chase some descents more 😂

Great review and very valuable info! Have you used them with 28mm tires?
Thanks for watching! I haven't used them with 28mm tires yet, but I believe they should work.
Great video I’m looking at buying a set of 50mm wheels but was just wondering if you could run tubes in these wheels as their website say tubeless?
I always run tubes in my Superteam wheels👌

Agreed, I don't ride often in the rain, but when I do it's definitely not as great stopping power. Best to brake earlier!

I believe they're the 23mm profile, which I don't see on their website as they might be an older model now (available on Amazon and AliExpress).
Great review! Did the wheels come with valve stems? Also, what tire / tire size are you running?
Thanks! The wheels didn’t come with valve stems. I’m running Continental GP5000 in 25mm 👍
Nice video and presentation.
Are we sure the brake shoe are installed as directed? It appears it is curving up in the video.
I’m pretty sure I installed the brake shoes properly 🤷♂️
