Note to anyone planning on using these with a 12 speed cassette, you will need a ~0.5-1mm cassette spacer! Took me a lot of back and forth with Superteam and trial and error to figure this out!
Thanks for the helpful review. I'm looking for a set of carbon spoke wheelset and am leaning toward Elite Drive (I've had 2 sets of Elite wheels that have worked great). Quick note: Elite star ratchets are *not* compatible with DT Swiss. I tried to swap 18 tooth DTs with 36T Elites and the ratchet would not engage due to, I think, a slightly different spring or interface between springs and ratchets.
The whole point of me buying a set of SuperTeam carbon wheels 6 years ago was to save money and still have a great set of wheels. I paid less than $300 for a set of 38mm wheels and they are still on the bike thousands and thousands of miles later and they still look great and ride great. I'm sure these wheels are equally nice, but I'm not spending that much money on a set of wheels.
@@loribaerne9445 They’ve been amazing. Not one issue in thousands and thousands of miles. I would and will buy another set of them when these do finally wear out. Highly recommend.
I have a pair I bought off on Amazon for USD 200 3 years back. These have held up unbelievably well. One time, I even rode a couple miles on em with a flat, fully expecting to destroy the wheel. But nope, they stayed intact and didn’t even need to be trued after. WTF.
These wheels are built 2:1 ratio that’s why they have double the spokes on one side than the other,” 2:1 ratio is best actually because it makes for a very stiff wheel. Henry ford came up with this design for his cars with spoked wheels so they wouldn’t flex as they turned into corners on the road.
Dunno if your code would work for their gravel wheelset but I just ordered their G31-38 wheelset. Normal price - 1735 aud, on sale right now and cost me 820 aud. More than 50% off, not too cut up about that 😁
Again, thanks for those so deep reviews. If you could choose just one, drive 50d or superteam? If you can't decide, which is better on crosswinds? Thanks!
bought 50 & 60mm superteam wheel without any decal, so everything come without any marking and who know whether it was real or other brand. about 7500km, still going strong. only change the front bearing after it developed lateral play. the assembly still true, brake track looks ok although a lot of brakepad deposited on the surface. like it was burned and bonded to the surface. it appeared after braking in long mountain descent. the rim has 1 chipped mark, probably from stone hit.
I worry about carbon spokes... I always ride alone and often a long way from public transport. Are the spokes more likely to break if hit by a stone? I assume once they break you have to stop riding?
@@stevenleffanue I'm still a bit cautious (and traditional!). I rode a sportive a couple of years ago and after about 2 miles at moderate pace a guy near me had his posh carbon wheel collapse. I was too busy chuckling to myself to ask what caused it. He was surrounded by friends and there was mechanical support thankfully.
@@stevenleffanue Superteam's hub system is similar to DT Swiss, where Hyper is the classic with 6 pools. Hypers 2023 hub shaft has a surface treatment, which make higher surface hardness and hereby maybe more durable. Hyper wheels inside casting quality are better, no doubt, but may no practically difference.
It's a shame no one does carbon spokes in no hole rim bed design. Also, making the spokes so wide but not aligning them properly sort of defeats the purpose from aerodynamic perspective. Those thin wide spokes look like carbon knives. Hopefully, no one sticks their fingers or toes in when the wheel rotates.
These wheels are flawed in design from a safety standpoint. The spokes in the hubs are not captive. This is a serious safety issue and design flaw. My opinion is that they should not be purchased or recommended until changes are made. Broken spokes could cause catastrophic and sudden wheel collapse.

What about 11 speed? Should them work fine?
Yes , 11spd works fine ...no spacer required.
As a beginner, I'm glad I came across this channel
Bought the superteam wheels 2 years ago, luckily they are still strong😎
Amazingly thorough review/inspection of wheels. Thanks!
A great review with all the details we need.
My 88mm Superteam wheels are still going strong. I would love to try a set of these as well!
The dimples are a copy of a GP5000 tyre tread!!
That's exactly what I was thinking.
Your my favorite product reviewer 😊
Best purchase I have ever made.

Star ratchets to fit Elitewheels hubs are on Aliexpress.

Nice. We have a few guys here with cheap Ebay carbon wheels and they're still going fine. 👌
I so wish they had same wheels with no wave or sharkfin. I find those things super gimmicky but the wide spokes are so nice looking.

4:41 Get yourself vernier calipers made of carbon or hard plastic to not risk scratching parts. The 150mm with dial from Shinwa is good.
Have you noticed any differences in comfort between superteams and drives? Thank you vero much
Pretty much identical. It's the tyre sizing which makes the biggest difference. Wider rims will accommodate wider tyres.
😮😮😮You can get profiled rings, ceramic bearings, and ratcheting hubs for less than $1,000! Cost-effective!!!!!!😯

Drive 50d for all-rounder performance. Superteam for triathlon and time trials
@@stevenleffanue thanks!
@@stevenleffanueso you think Elte Drive are better in crosswinds?
It's very difficult to tell by feel , they are all affected similarly. The Superteams are a little quieter all-round.

Leave brake marks on the brake track as it improves braking...similar to "bedding in" with disc brakes.
@@stevenleffanue I wonder why it doesn't leave brakepad during regular use (braking) on mostly flat route for many KMs.
Excellent review
where you go for torque wrench?
Aliexpress
Hello, I am thinking about these or Elite Drive wheels. What do you think rides better? They would be my first pair of carbon wheels. Thank you!
Both sets perform very well. I'd say it's down to looks. Superteam have a matt grey whilst Drive have gloss marbling effect.
most interested in servicability and durability.
I worry about carbon spokes... I always ride alone and often a long way from public transport. Are the spokes more likely to break if hit by a stone? I assume once they break you have to stop riding?
Carbon spokes require more force to break them than a steel spoke. So they can break but require a bigger hit or stick going thru your wheel.

Was it a Mavic?...seen a few of them collapse more than other brands.
@@stevenleffanue I honestly can't remember... Might have been a zipp
Na, carbon spokes are not for me. Just so easy to snap and very difficult to replace.
Looks like a good compeditor to Farsport wheels but with less hub options.
Would you recomend these over elite wheel or zipp 303s there about the same price in belgium so I dont know what to get.
I would say Elite Drive is best value for money in performance.
What is reason of crossing carbon spoks when they cannot touch? Isn't would be better go all the way with straight non crossing spoks?
Crossing spokes makes for a stronger wheel than radial. Best you research the why for yourself as it's a longer explanation.
Hey oZ cycle Do you think that they are as good as winspace hyper? Thanks! 🤟🏻🚴🏻♂️
I'd say same performance as Hyper 45s but the Super 50s are cheaper

So, after a while, what about cross winds?)
They are affected by crosswinds about the same as any 50mm wheelset.
What is the compatible xdr freehub for this wheelset?
It's on their website , Sram xdr.
What type of tires?
Vittoria rubino pro 2 graphene

@@EditioCastigata Yes they do, but for some reason they only do most hubs in 12 mm front axle (don't do 15mm front axle diameter). A bit of a pain.
Unusual that the cockle train derailed the other day. Usually it's inattentive car drivers pulling across in front of it.
Yes. No one hurt. Something not quite right with a part of the rail I was told.
Is it raining constantly in Australia...poor things. Come to the UK; we have not enough immigration.
Haha. It IS raining tonight but no where near as much as you guys get over there. Your countryside looks so beautiful and green in films!
