Well, the last year has been a pretty chaotic one for Ariana Grande. Since the Ethan Slater scandal surfaced last summer, it seems like she hasn’t been able to shake the wave of criticism that followed it. And now with the release of her latest album, Eternal Sunshine, where she subtly addresses the controversy, I want to explore the question of whether her reputation has recovered. A lot has changed in the last few months, including the repeated claim from Ariana stans that Page Six admitted to lying about the whole thing and retracted their claims about the entire Ethan saga. I haven’t really seen anyone break that specific aspect of this down, but I feel like it needs to be done because I see it everywhere, and it’s just not quite true. And worse, I don’t think most people repeating it even know that.

great video! and thank u for clearing up the mess that was the page six article “retraction” and lily’s statement “retraction”. it really is insane how so many people took those quotes from articles completely out of context and fooled so many people into thinking that both parties would retract their statements 6 months after they were released. if they really had lied about everything, both parties would have been sued for defamation. i also appreciated your comments near the end. most people aren’t 100% the villain or victim, there’s usually some grey area.

I used to be a huge arianator but over the years there has been too many hypocrisies and immoral behavior from her that completely turned me off from continuing to support her. It's so sad because i enjoyed her music, but i can never support people or enjoy their work if they did things that are dishonest or harmful.
WOW!!! amazing video, so glad to see someone with media literacy speak about this. this is my roman empire. i loved ari SO much, literally 20k minutes/yr on spotify- but when this scandal broke it shattered my perception of her. to do this to a woman like lilly who is out of the public eye, then to make the boy is mine a single?? imaging lilly at the grocery store with her toddler and that song comes on?
a lil more evidence that broke too was a facebook post lilly made for ethans birthday (june 2nd). she was in NY at the time and it was along the lines of "it's midnight over in london, happy birthday to the love of my life". just insane.
Something I’ve noticed is that she hasn’t posted 1 picture of just her & Ethan. She always posts couple pics of her & whoever she’s with even when she was with Dalton & she was keeping it private. She still posted but with Ethan she’s completely radio silent. I don’t think she’s completely confident in this relationship. She has her comments limited on Instagram so I don’t see any other reason y she wouldn’t post a cute happy couple picture if she wasn’t confident in this relationship lasting. Plus like u said if she was innocent she would’ve came out & debunked the cheating allegations by now but she hasn’t. She wants to be THAT girl but doesn’t want the responsibility & backlash it comes with so instead of owning that she’s a bad girl & cheater she plays victim & vague about the whole situation. I think it was supposed to be a fling that got out of hand & now she feels guilty & has to stay in the relationship but isn’t really into but while keeping up the image of being happy with friends,family,co workers,& paparazzi. I bet as soon as the “Wicked” movie excitement dies down they r going to break up.

I think she doesn’t post couple pics cuz she actually doesn’t love Ethan. She wanted to be chosen by him over his long time wife. Now that she got him I’m pretty sure she lost her 😮interest in him
I love ariana but I am also not blind of what she's doing. If she did something wrong. Then she did something wrong and i will make her hold accountability. Therefore thank you for this video. You've some it up real good and factually. When i read the "retraction" article I though I was insane because I was thinking the same as you but no one was believing me. Anyways, great job!
Glad to see you back, just watched your tortured poet department video. For me with Ariana, I’ve been clocked her during her victorious/sam and cat days the way she threw Victoria justice and indirectly played a factor in Victoria being blacklisted from the music/acting industry and how she did Jeanette McCartney on Sam and cat, knowing Jeanette’s situation with her abusive mom/manager since they were legit close friends so to me there’s been numerous times she’s shown her true colors and I take it for what it is I like her music and I think she’s talented artist but I don’t rock with her as a person, I’m in the place where do whatever you want for a problematic artist but just don’t downplay/minimize the things they done. In terms of her reputation, I feel Ariana is in a place where she’s worried more about her fans who will support anything she’s done, there’s a new era of pop music where everything is more niche which is heavily reflective of social media influencer/fandom culture this is one of the reasons why we don’t have alot of new school pop stars that are global cultural icon status similar to Beyoncé, Taylor swift, Rihanna, etc so it doesn’t matter how much her reputation have been she has such a huge, bankable fanbase that backs her up in everything.

Ariana likes to walk the line between angel and villain as much as she enjoyed walking the line between being white and black/asian/martian. People can keep defending that it was lighting but lighting doesn’t give people blaccent. She’s so smart but she does the dumbest things and doesn’t like being called out on them.

I’ve learned to separate the art from the artist with Ariana grande, she has an incredible voice, she’s undeniably talented, and I love/enjoy her music but I don’t know who she truly is as a person and the facades she puts on are see through and fake. She doesn’t seem like a good or moral person, SpongeBob is going to regret leaving his wife and child when Ariana inevitably dump him for someone new
We don't know who she is because we simply don't KNOW HER personally. I disagree with her bad actions but at the end of the day we don't her true intentions. Don't idolize someone you don't know and you won't be end up disappointed.
She literally sings proudly about the distrusting things she does…. Soo can’t really separate the art from artist with her… unless u don’t mind songs about home wrecking and cheating

wow, what a layered take on the situation. I completely agree. Ariana loves to walk the line between innocent angel and unapologetic villain depending on the situation and it has hurt her in this scandal. Love her music and the new album is okay, but I wish she would’ve gave us more context and expressed herself more instead of blanketed statements/lyrics.
also, we can separate the art from the artist. We don’t need to look at celebs as morally good people because most times, they aren’t. We can just look at their behavior and analyze it for the cultural context it is instead of putting them in a box of stereotypical tropes . She’s a great singer who clarly has some abandonment or commitment issues and loves the idea of love. Unfortunately, she has hurt others along the way and this is the first time one of her scandals hasn’t just gone away after a few months.

I personally just don't listen to Ariana and JLo anymore. I don't want to separate the artist from the art and give money to people who I don't like and making their egos even bigger. There are plenty of good music made by lesser evil persons. I even listen to music in different languages and supporting smaller countries' artists. There is limitless music available in the world.
She's thrown another little shiny pop album at the peasants, and they've been fed. But she's still what she is. Never forget a child will be growing up in a broken home because of Ariana and SpongeBob.

eternal sunshine is her best album. from the vocals to production everything is 10/10. it’s kinda sad (even tho she kinda put herself in that situation knowing the media) that the album is overshadowed by all the drama. i feel like this should have been her biggest album to date (idk if it is?) and the rumors and lack of promo made it less big than it could have been. don’t get me wrong tho WCBF and the boy is mine is all over tiktok. i just feel like this is her best album and wish more people would give it a chance.
i also love ariana as an artist and have always been a fan of her music what she does in her relationships really doesn’t effect how i engage with her music. however i do find it strange as a fan she kept up the image of being with dalton for sooooo long. i don’t think anyone would’ve cared if they announced their separation earlier?
true story was seems like it was about dalton originally it was recorded in 2021 so they must have been having some kind of issues back then? the original lyrics are different from the version of ES. she made the album version about the media and press.

What I know to be true is that if you are a female pop star you have a fan base of men who comes to see you flaunt your body and pretty face. On the other hand you have girls who actually support you by streaming and etc. She lost her female fan base when she did this to Lily Jay.
unfortunately she still has a dedicated young audience that don't yet have fully developed brains lol.
