Back in the day, pre-Boomer, people did live with their parents. Come the 50s kids started moving out before they got married. They called families that didn’t live with their folks “ the Nuclear family”. We are going back to what was the “old normal.” That was extended families. There were a lot of benefits and I think it’s actually a better way. I’m sure a lot of people would disagree but everyone has their own normal.
People also forget that families had large homes so their children could live in one section. The home would get passed down through the family with no debt. Now homes are the biggest things having people in debt because their biggest debt is a mortgage.
It's not the norm population that is rich, and it is not the norm population that does not struggle, so don't be the norm to do what doesn't make financial sense. Living together with family is a practice for millions of years all over the world. It makes financial sense and the young help the old, old help the young. This should not be abnormal; this should be the norm folks!
Young adults don’t want to move back with parents and parents don’t want it either. Hopefully this will temporary only. But I don’t know. I have relatives that took in their daughter husband and 2 kids and they never left. The young ones get accustomed to the house living instead of cheaper apts and they lose some ambition.
At least she HAS a bedroom. My mother comes home to a TINY living room floor. And he is 6'4". He looked for a job for over a year, and not even Burger King will hire me. The hell is going ON?
It's NOT THAT. Corporate landlords DEMAND people make TWICE their $1,500/month rent in order to even qualify to rent. Rent isn't $800 anymore, but jobs still only PAY for $800 rent. They are asking kids out of college to pay a mortgage. $1,400 is what a mortgage should be, not an apartment. Young starters aren't making $60,000 a year, but that is what landlords now demand. I found out I need an entire online resumee just to wait tables now. Not even Burger King will hire me in spite of past experience with them. $55,000 means you are too poor to rent now.
You don't know how LONG it takes to just TRY to get a job even WITH a degree. It's horrible right now. Abysmal. You need a computer resumee just to wait tables now. And roomies nowadays are just going to steal or not pay.
@@AshleySpeaks4U Being helpful. It’s resume & never start a sentence with and. Might want to get new friends if you say they will steal or pay. Have you a degree that’s not in demand? Thought about another field. Education or Health Care. Might want to google top 5 skills employer’s are looking for.
Tough 💩. Don’t blindly go to college and bury yourself with debt unless you are certain that the field you’re training for will pay enough to make it worth it. I’m a welding contractor and I net about $150 per year. My top guys make $80k without overtime. None of us have a college education and we all live well on our own with no assistance from mommy, daddy, or the taxpayers.
Oh well goody for you scumbucket. We got student loan debts in the Trillions because EVERYONE says go to college to get a degree. Now that we have its our fault? Inflation is at an all time high, gas is expensive, college is worthless, and the coronavirus/ monkeypox is making it hard for anyone to find a damn job.
I make $80k as a 26 year old. My mortgage is $1600 for a small 2 bed 1 bath house. It's expensive and I'm single. I can easily see why some people in even more expensive states struggle.
I see these kids in my neighborhood, living at home, don't lift a finger, don't do yard work, don't even walk the garbage can from the curb for their parents. They all want to work from home, and the parents roll out the driveway, on the way to work, while the kids stay in their bathrobe, remote working and taking selfies. So we now have a generation with no work ethic being coddled by their parents. Good luck with that when the kid is 50 years old, still living at home for free.
Do YOU make $60,000 a year, because landlords currently REQUIRE $60,000 annual income to even QUALIFY to rent, and their rent is more than your mortgage, so....
Being with your family is such a gift ❤
if you have a good family

Yeah it’s because we spent tens of thousands on schooling that didn’t help us

You can just look at Adrienne and Mitchy and see they can't STAND each other.
Both of my children went to college but got useful educations. Both own homes and are doing well. Choose wisely.
That is BS. If a single person cannot live on 55k they are living wrong. I am retired living on a third of that. The parents coddle them.
What if they live in a state where the cost of living is higher than 55k?
@@terryterrific3955 lol they got real quite now
I make $80k as a single man and spend $1600 a month for a little 2 bed 1 bath house. Things are expensive

As a Gen Xer that moved out at 19 & retired @ 53, yuck.
Why are they not getting roommates? Great a generation who can’t solve their own problems, run home. 55k, learn to budget.
