While I still suck at disc golf, I generally follow your advice and my scores have improved. The 3rd piece of advice is gold, just take the stroke and get to the next hole. New hole, new opportunity to make a good shot.
Facts. It's taken me two years to embrace the first one of these. I've been that guy who constantly wants the newest plastic and so I hardly ever had more than two discs I actually trusted. I've since made mold commitments and I'm sticking to them through at least all of next year. My wallet is already thanking me! I was surprised you didn't throw in the bonus reason of "you don't work on improving your form enough" at the end, but I guess if they watch any of your other stuff they'll figure that out
Tbh this is some of the beat advice to actually lower your score. Like if you have 500ft of distance, and you make bad decisions, you gonna have some 500ft mistakes to deal with.
IMO, the biggest thing is not deliberately practicing. The only time I see people practicing where I play is seeing how far they can throw so they can post their internet distance. It doesn't matter what field you're talking about, people who deliberately practice are going to progress a lot faster than people who don't. Figure out every shot you have to do on your regular course, then practice each one in a field till you can't do it wrong. I think that helps with shot selection on the course, too, by forcing you to select from a small portfolio of shots you know you can do well.
"Okay, so I was binge-watching disc golf instructional videos while attempting to learn how to juggle watermelons, and I couldn't help but notice a few flaws. First off, where's the tutorial on using a disc as a pizza cutter? I mean, real-life skills, people! Also, these videos need more slow-motion shots of enthusiastic squirrels critiquing form. And why haven't they addressed the essential art of incorporating interpretive dance into your follow-through? Let's not even get started on the lack of guidance for disc golf in zero gravity - future sport, anyone? Come on, instructional video producers, step up your game. I'll be waiting for the 'Advanced Disc Golf for Time Travelers' edition. Until then, I'll be attempting to ace a black hole with my trusty frisbee. #FlawsInFrisbeeTutorials #SquirrelsKnowBest"

Forehand cut roller for an easy birdie on that last part.
