    I love your videos man. Something I do with my friends I'm introducing to disc golf, is I play catch with them with the putter they are going to use for 15 minutes or so before we play. Then literally stand behind the basket and ask them to throw it to me. After first couple of wins I stop standing behind the basket.

    Thank you so much, Robbie, for this instruction video.
    I now know why I suck so badly when it comes to putting.
    The palm down to palm up technique is what I was not doing. I just tried to keep the disc flat as I struggled to get it to the basket. No wonder I couldn't hit anything over 2 meters!
    I cannot wait to go out and incorporate this technique into my putting that you've shown me.
    Thank you, Robbie!!

    YES, YES and YES!!!!!!!!!!! I have started to see nice improvements in my scores and it all has come down to putting. Specifically, the three tips are the three areas I have been focusing on that have REALLY helped. I think my favorite is pronation vs supination .. which for mean meant thinking of finishing my putt like Spiderman (being a straddle, push putter). For me ... this video hit the nail 1 million percent on the head. Send this to everyone you know because this will help their game today!!!!

    You just changed my life!! Supanation!!! I’ve been trying to understand how the pop is really achieved and as soon as I focused on turning my hand up I increased my 20ft putting by 20%.
    I literally feel like my putts at least from 20 are finally starting to resemble the flat missiles Ricky throws.
    Great tip

    Dude! These were night and day successful changes for me. Been playing along time and changed my putt dozens of times. I’ve tried some aspects of these but never all at once. My thought was if I change too many things at once I won’t be able to tell what helped but the reality is all of these things helped! I went from 70-80% from 20 feet to well over 90% in the first hour of giving these tips a try. Very helpful even all the way back to 25 feet. From circle one I’m having some noticeable changes but not a significant change from that distance.

    No joke. This helped me tremendously with the wrist mechanic notes! I was just trying to keep the disc flat the whole tine and putt. But now with that wrist movement and looking at how you were performing putts. It helped click in better for me. Thanks so much

  • @samcheeley2943

    These are great tips. Love it. I think something that helped for me too was curling my middle and ring finder under the disc towards my palm rather than having them more or less straight under the disc. Along with the supination this allowed me to give the disc a lot more speed and pop from opening my hand up when releasing. Also i found that I wasn’t getting anything from transferring my weight on my stagger putt. Turns out i was thinking of moving my weight forward instead up up into the disc. This caused me to only transfer weight between my legs and not to the disc. So rather than rocking back and forth per say. Maybe its better to think of it as a diagonal upward motion.

    I changed my putting stance over the year. I thought i was doing well but I wasn't.
    So I was placing lies every meter til 20 meters. I was then really starting at 1 meter and moved back as my muscle memory kicked in. I change the way I reach back and where my hand goes etc. I changed my stance etc and applied philo's "apple pie" tipp about the rhythm etc. I tried to smoothen my putts as much as possible. When forcing with my hands I had all kinds of weird movements in my hand. But now most of my force comes from a smooth weight shirt and the hand just guides the disc really.. building on the momentum caused by the weight shift.
    I think that training helped me a lot. I feel really comfortable inside C1 now and putts hit the same part of the basket most of the time. Next I will try to add elements like hight, straddle etc.
    I'm starting to feel confident at 10 meters and made putts from 13 meters too. Getting way more putts in from that range than before. My longest putt was 15 meters. Something I couldn't do before.
    So practicing putting is super cool and fun once you found a motion that works for you. My drive is still a mess butt my putting game has saved me quite a few strokes already.
    My goal is to extend my range to 20 meters now.
    Good luck on your putting

    Good tips. The only time I worry about the comeback putt is the dreaded dropoff behind the basket, or when the basket is on a steep hill with hard dirt around it. Missed a 15 footer for bird the other day and it rolled to about 50 feet away 🤦 In those cases it helps to think about how the disc will land in case I miss, or even just slide it up by the basket if I'm not confident. Sometimes just need to minimize those bad mistakes rather than go for the glory.

    • @bernan1
      @bernan1 3 года назад +2

      another way to look at it is, if you know you make a high percentage from that distance, but now it has a dropoff, figure if you miss it will catch metal and not airball behind it. Meaning, be confident that you'll hit the basket on the miss, which tends to minimize the effect of the deathputt. I used this and it's increased my confidence on those putts.
      Also...if you find a basket with a dropoff...practice on it for a bit from a highly makeable distance. You'll find after a bit you won't even really care about the dropoff behind it.

    Love this video! BUT I'm confused. I do a mostly spin putt, perhaps a bit spush, my arm is bent, I use my wrist, I mean it must be a spin putt right? I tried pronation and it's not doing me any good, it just adds hyzer to the angle, however when I tried supination the putts come out more flat and with more power. So that was great, but I think I need some more details, because I must be missing something. I can't really see you doing pronation on the spin example either, I tried to study it.

  • @seanbereman4769

    Hi Robbie, this video and all of yours are so great. Have you ever cover subination and pronation in throwing? I’m certain there is something to it in the throw, as well. Such as, seeing a lot of pro’s that seem to have the disc in an anhyzer position in their reach back and it subnates to flat or hyzer once it reaches the power pocket. Interstuff and I would love to hear your input on this topic. It could really be the X factor that a lot of disc golfers do not have.

I just don't, for the life of me, understand the mechanics of starting your putting stroke with your wrist upward and ending with it downward. is there a pro who does this well for me to reference?. I stand on one foot for circle one putts. It really does not take that much energy to get 30 ft. If anything drop your back leg back And get a little bit more arm movement. Just a personal preference I don't think there is a perfect putting form. Everyone does it a bit different. Enjoy the content bro keep it up. All tips are welcome but confidence is key. Stick to what you know and try and work off of that the more comfortable you are the better you're going to putt in general.

    Actually, leaving it short is preferred. Giving it enough power is what we strive toward, but would you rather it wiff the basket and fall to the ground or sail past it and have to make a more difficult putt?
    Play to your skill level. And that often means laying in putts on anheizer or scoober so they hit or land softly next to the basket without rolling or skipping.

  • @iicordii648
    @iicordii648 3 года назад

    I have a bad habit of skippin up to the basket instead of trying longer putts. A lot of local holes have giant drop offs on the opposite side of the hole so a miss could royally fuck you. I’m par champion, I’m just missing opportunities of winning more games by not being confident in my longer putts

    I watch the video 3 times and I did not see a difference in your pronated or supinated putt. Your hand finishes the same in both. So I am really not grasping the concept

      Excellent question(?) Jeremy, and this was confusing for me at first as well. The key is not where the hand finishes, but how it gets there. After the active movement of the supination or pronation during the throw, unless you stay focused on it, your hand will return to a natural resting position. That is why my hand returns to the same place because my mind has changed focus points after the initial release. If you are trying to get your hand to a final specific resting position often you will end up missing the proper motion of the active movement.
      Does that help with clarification any?
