Skinamarink actually started off as a short called "Heck" on Kyle Edward Ball's RUclips channel! It's honestly way scarier and the ending gave me chills, I highly recommend it 👍👍. What's also cool is that Kyle got his start by recreating people's nightmares as short horror films on his channel! Some of them are pretty downright spooky and definitely make being home alone at night creepy as hell.
Oh, thanks for this info! Always thought Skinamarink would have been so, SO much stronger as a short After 15~20 minutes I was completely over it, bored, and the Creep Factor plummeted right by "none" and into negative territory

I feel when someone shows that they are a kind and understanding person at their core, trash talk and harsh criticism comes across as more jovial than spiteful. Zeark has done a great job of showing his humanity, which gives a sort of "niceness buffer" when he decides to tear into something.
The last 20 or so minutes of Caveat actually scared the fuck out of me. Like the way the supernatural element is never even really explained is so horrifying to me. It’s just there. And it’s scary as hell.
I watched Skinamarink in theaters and it was honestly the most scared I have ever felt watching a movie, HOWEVER I don't think this would be the same experience watching it at home. At the theater I was forced to sit through it, but if I had watched it at home I would've honestly turned it off. Maybe if you watched it on your laptop with headphones in in the dark it could work, but totally agree you need to see it in the right setting.
I watched it at home in a pitch black room around midnight when I saw it, and it just didn’t do it for me. I wanted it to be cool and daring. It was different, that’s for sure. Hi, still your #1 fan here! Thanks for another video. I just click on a new release without a second thought. Skinamarink is one of those counted films that have joined my list of scariest (key word: scariest) films ever made immediately after a first watch along with The Exorcist, The Thing, The Shining, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, [Rec], Hellraiser, Kaufman's Invasion of the Body Snatchers (I prefer the original masterpiece, but when it comes to the depiction of horror that doesn't let you breathe, this one takes the cake), and The Evil Dead (first Raimi film). It is also one of the greatest horror genre achievements ever. I absolutely agree that the environment matters a lot; it was intended for a theater or for a dark room, and I see no sin in that. I understand your comment on the attention span and enduring long films (heck, my favorite film is Sátántangó and my second one is Andrei Rublev). However, I was entranced at the fact that the film managed to remain absolutely unpredictable precisely because of its dreamlike and surreal nature. Since the plot is scarce and the film gives audiovisual cues of what might be happening beyond the plot description (such as the father's phone call), I had never, ever seen a film that undertook the task of making a celluloid exercise that is the equivalent of being stuck in a nightmare AND from a child's perspective. A little child. All of the shots mimick the act of a little boy or girl crawling during the night, and perceiving the biggest and darkest parts of an empty house as a doorway to hell. My attention span was not even challenged at all because I was kinda asking for the film to be over so the heart would stop beating so fast. It's been decades since I felt like this (around 20 years). I'm 34, and after 4,700 watched films, this genuine surprise of a film is one of the most welcome I have ever lived through. I'm scared to watch it again.
Honestly as someone who did find The Poughkeepsie Tapes scary, I think one of the scariest scenes was actually one where nothing crazy happened. Just that scene where the girlscouts go into the killer’s house. It was just talking but it was so intense because you know where they are but they have no idea.
Man that part with the dead mom on Caveat is the creepiest shit to be put in a indie horror film. I watched it at like 5am one day and thought about that part all day lol.
Skinamarink pops up in my mind whenever I wander around in the nightly darkness of my house and thus definitely left a mark however, it is also too much of a slow burner imo it could've used a few more visual scares, not necessarily jumpscares but whatever - 7/10 Caveat's trailer was so incredibly promising but then the actual movie was too... "adventurous" to be really scary? I mean the protagonist was, against all odds, very eager to solve the supernatural crime behind the house and it kinda tarnished the scare factor, still a great horror movie though - 7/10
I personally never really understood the hype behind Poughkeepsy Tapes. I think movies like "Behind the Mask" work much better and they are also just straight up fun to watch. If you havent watched that one, give it a try. Its also a Found Footage/Mockumentary film about a serial killer and imo criminally underrated.
I can't tell you how much I appreciate you mentioning that Skinamarink MUST be viewed in the quiet darkness. I don't get heavily spooked to the level of like having trouble sleeping very easily. However, literally just the experience of watching that movie messed me up for quite a while lol Also, thank you thank you for having a spoiler-free review of Caveat 🙌 much love!!

Poughkeepsie Tapes bored me to tears but one singular scene had me by the throat, and it was actually the scene before the more famous scene towards the end: when that woman gets in the car with him and slowly begins to realize she’s actually trapped. It felt very realistic and I was able to easily imagine what it would feel like in that moment to slowly have it down on you that you’ve actually wandered into the spider’s web. The panic and dread would be unbearable.
your videos always come at the right time. It’s always the time when I just came back from home late at night either with friends or family and about to sleep but have to watch a youtube video to get cozy in the bed and yours always comes at that time😂🤍
Skinamarink was super effective for me. I honestly can't remember the last time I was so tense in my life. The under the bed scene was so good. I also understand how some people can find it boring, especially if you have distractions around you and you're not completely focused in the dark.
Please check out Noroi the Curse. The use of found footage is believable, the atmosphere is creepy and uneasy. The second the reveal happened I got real chills. It told you shits gonna appear but it's still scary af
The only movie that genuinely scared me was creep from 2014. The atmosphere is so unsettling and creepy its insane. Im not a huge fan of foundfootage film but this one got me.
100% agree with Poughkeepsie - had heard for YEARS how scary it is, how horrifying it is and I couldnt even get it in the uk for ages. Finally watched it 2 years ago and I was like....that's it? this is the horror masterpiece everyone was on about? Wildly overhyped - it's just so cheesy and poorly done. I feel it must be like a 'shared opinion' on online circle, just people parroting that it's a masterpiece. I can't explain it's reputation otherwise.
Agree, Skinamarink was indeed boring. But what I love about this movie is how good the tension was especially when the cameras are only focused on the dark for so long, it just makes your brain imagine things that weren't even there. My fave scene was when the girl kid went to the parent's room and saw a woman who's maybe her mother and the camera just kept showing the view from under the bed which really makes you think you're the one hiding. I think it really depends on who's watching it. People who's used to horror movies with lots of jumpscares will definitely not enjoy this movie.
I just watched Caveat and Oddity this week and both were really good. I think I liked Oddity a bit more, but they were both incredibly atmospheric and I can't wait to see what this guy does next.
I thought Oddity was terrible, I pretty much guessed the entire movie when I saw what was in the box..I was gonna checkout Caveat but if it’s by the same guy I’m not gonna bother
okay i thought i was going crazy with the poughkeepsie tapes everyone always raves about it but i tried watching the other day and turned it off like thirty minutes in i was so bored and hated it which is new bc i genuinely enjoy most things 😭
Hello Zeark I missed your videos ive seen so amazing moives recently and i hope you cover some of them. Also Alien Romulus is the best film of the year dont @ me anyways love the vids man stay safe 🙏
Poughkeepsie Tapes really was made with a specific type of viewer in mind, and everyone else is just kinda left in the dust. The horror of that particular movie comes from a realization as to why this seemingly professionally made documentary features a bunch of strange footage spliced in. It goes over many people's heads and I chalk it up to the fact that not everyone grew up in the era of VHS rentals.
Skinamarink. That one stuck with me. I remember hearing the writer say if you don’t think it’s scary at first just wait until you’re in bed alone trying to fall asleep. Omfg!! I never thought I would feel that childlike paranoia again in adulthood. The not knowing what’s lurking in the dark. Also me being a mother, that ending KILLED me. I can’t say I enjoyed the movie but I think it was worth the watch nonetheless. I agree it would’ve been just as effective as a short maybe whilst trimming that heart wrenching scene 😢😢
it's always refreshing when they say that a movie is divisive in terms of audience reviews and actually has a different opinion than most people ( also i dunno if you've seen quarantine but give the original movie rec 2007 a try !! )

The poopy tapes 💀
My glorious brown haired king has bleesed us with an other banger.
YAYY THANK YOU FOR WATCHING CAVEAT IM SO GLAD YOU LIKED IT!!!!!!!!
I’m so excited Caveat is getting love it’s on my top 10
Manta sleep is absolutely goated
I kinda agree with you on Skinamarink. It's a film I admire more than I enjoy it
Agree, Skinamarink was indeed boring.
I thought Oddity was terrible, I pretty much guessed the entire movie when I saw what was in the box..I was gonna checkout Caveat but if it’s by the same guy I’m not gonna bother
also watch Noroi 2005
(it will bore you to death)
Definitely look into When Evil Lurks directed by Demián Rugna. Man, that film actually gave me nightmares that kinda ruined some of my mornings haha
Sometimes I stare at my face in the mirror in a dimly lit room
So just found your channel…a little 💩that it took me this long but I’ve been binge watching them and really enjoying them! You’re perfect for this
lol that pronunciation of “Poughkeepsie.” It’s said like puh-kip-see. Location in NY
You gotta watch The Wailing or Incantation. The Wailing left me feeling so empty and the cave scene gave me chills.
I don't think I've ever heard anyone talk about Caveat until now
You have been voted the best hair on youtube by me and everyone in my home (the voices in my head) congratulations.
I wish i could’ve seen skinamarink in theaters, i like the analog horror vibes it gives
okay i thought i was going crazy with the poughkeepsie tapes everyone always raves about it but i tried watching the other day and turned it off like thirty minutes in i was so bored and hated it which is new bc i genuinely enjoy most things 😭
Movies like The Poughkeepsie tapes is not for everyone. I respect and understand your personal opinion.
my girl just broke up with me, but i got a new zeark video so it makes it all better tbh. thanks for the vid bro
Sorry to hear that
The scariest part of the Poughkeepsie tapes is when she’s being interviewed and goes to scratch her face 😮 holy heck
holy transition into the ad that was yea that was good
RAGGHHHHH ZEARK UPLOADED W LOVE U AND UR VIDS BRO
Hello Zeark I missed your videos ive seen so amazing moives recently and i hope you cover some of them. Also Alien Romulus is the best film of the year dont @ me anyways love the vids man stay safe 🙏
Let’s go! Just this morning I was seeing when you’d upload
So why the strange footage ?
Skinamarink. That one stuck with me. I remember hearing the writer say if you don’t think it’s scary at first just wait until you’re in bed alone trying to fall asleep. Omfg!! I never thought I would feel that childlike paranoia again in adulthood. The not knowing what’s lurking in the dark. Also me being a mother, that ending KILLED me. I can’t say I enjoyed the movie but I think it was worth the watch nonetheless. I agree it would’ve been just as effective as a short maybe whilst trimming that heart wrenching scene 😢😢
The goat has return! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hostel always freaked me out because the thought of that stuff happening to me spooks me
it's always refreshing when they say that a movie is divisive in terms of audience reviews and actually has a different opinion than most people ( also i dunno if you've seen quarantine but give the original movie rec 2007 a try !! )
love caveat one of my favourites saw it way back with my girlfriend when i saw the thumbnail i had to click love ur vids bro keep doing more !
Bro is back I’m happy
