I was an accomplished player. I had a stroke 15 Aug. I am playing quarter (1st three strings, soon 4 strings with thumb and first finger) notes at 50 bpm, I wept when I first played after my stroke. Thank You! I hope to regain busking level blues by april and concert level by one year. May be tough, but I'm not giving in! Am up to 70 minutes a day on the guitar alone.

Been almost 2 years since I wrote that. Not busking level yet. 54.2 beats per minute. I cant strike the strings hard enough to be heard across the room. I've had two relapses. I play about 60 minutes. For awhile I could only play 3x10 a day. Im getting better, faster each time. Chris 4566 is right, and I rely on amplification and my left hand. But I can play simple songs. Slowly but on time.

Very impressive. I’m a stroke survivor (21 months) . I have played pop and rock based guitar on electric and acoustic guitar, using a plectrum. Strumming with a plectrum is easy enough because it doesn’t require the same level of precision that finger-style classical guitar does. Fortunately, as far as guitar playing goes, my stroke affected my right side so while holding a plectrum isn’t easy, at least my left hand can find the chord shapes easily. It’s the precision required to play lead guitar solos which is more difficult. I did not dare go near my guitar but Your video has inspired me to pick it up. Apart from the music side, trying to play is good physio, particularly for fine motor skills, so I shall persevere thanks to your encouraging video.

Hello. I just want to left you know I’ve had 2 strokes. Last one about 7 years ago. I still have problems with walking but speech is better. I like you in that it’s y right side of body was paralyzed I’ve been playing for about 45 years.
My right side from the shoulder down I can’t get to work well enough to play. I play electric unlike you. Finding people like me helps me to see some hope

In January of this year, I suffered a stroke. Although my ability to walk and speak has been improving each day, I am not yet able to play the guitar again due to the continued weakness in my left hand. Nevertheless, I am determined and will never give up.

I hear it’s critical to get moving on post stroke recovery ASASP. The docs told me 6 months or a year are your optimal times to regain your physical self. My left / fingering hand is the pain. Thanks for this.
