Great video for this subject, I’m a newbie with a 31 that I’m working on now. Watching all of these videos that show repairs and improvements. I thought you would have more videos showing the pie crust repair. Enjoyed your one, hope to see you down the road.

I'm glad I could help Terri. RUclips videos have taught me a lot about this car and I'm trying to return the favor with the little details I feel other have left out

Ingenious solution. I can see putting an epoxy point on the end of the rods then after feeding it through a little heat would pop it off.

I think that would work. You just need to guide the rods into the holes. A piece a string may even work, just pull it through the bottom hole instead of pushing from the top.

Thank you Dean, I hope my experience was helpful. I too am in the cold and choose to wait for warmer days to replace my transmission. I'll make some videos of this project and next stage in Miss Crabtree's revival into a safe and dependable Model A for fun driving.

Wow thats great. I just bought my First Model A and I know I'll use your process. I might add that I immediately subscribed when I found out you had a 7 tooth. Mine is a 1928 BIGGS 4 DOOR

Thank you for subscribing Kenneth. I've recorded all the mishaps with my transmission and hope to post them soon. I'm trying to focus on the little details that others leave out on the problem solving tera firma. While I'm far from an expert on this car, I can spot the problems and solutions quickly.

Quadrant- but I like the pie crust description! Great video, you are right most of what you read about dealing with Model A steering columns leaves out a lot of details. I have some raw video detailing how to remove the steering column by dropping it out the engine bay, I hope to post that sometime in the future to assist others. Interesting of all the reproduction A parts, you don't see steering columns or quadrants being reproduced. Not all of us weld :)

Thank you for the proper terminology and your kind words. Funny it's called a quadrant when there are only two. I'm having fun with this car but it likes to give me trouble as I'm making it roadworthy and safe. Transmission went boom-bang over thanksgiving so I'll try to post some videos of my shenanigans with that escapade in the spring.

I was lucky and found a rebuilt 7 tooth early '28, splined steering column assembly at Hershey that I needed for my '28 phaeton. I removed the red steering wheel, and the new spark and throttle rods from my old column. I installed the rebuilt column and then tried to install the rods. I couldn't do it. So I went on youtube. I found a different "How To" video so I removed the column and tried to install the rods. Then I found your video. I followed your directions, and it worked smoothly!!!!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your knowledge. I really appreciate your advice!!!!!!!!! THANKS!!!!!!! I will be sharing your video with other Model A members of the Model A Ford Club of Long Island NY

They travel in an arc. They bow. I did this with out removing the bushing. I brazed Tig wire to them.

You are correct Judge! Before I attached the guide wire, the rods were crossing into the adjacent holes; no good. That's how I came up with the wire idea to guide the rods into the correct holes.

@@thatsallfolks9702 yep. I should have pulled that hub. I didn't even think about it. Had everything apart on the table. I did not get the anti vibe leather back in. I'm trying to vid most of my rebuild of a 1930 close cab truck. I dismantled and reassembled the steering box and column but I don't think I filmed any of it.

@@essentialjudge2279 I also forget to photograph my progress, I've been trying to avoid filming while working on the car due to the deluge of profanity that vomits from my mouth as I work on this car. The mechanical hackery that I've encountered along the way is amazing and yet a testimony to the durability of these cars. I am turning this car back into "Henry's Lady" regardless of her tainted past. Try to remember to document along the way, skinned knuckles and all. This his part of the cars history along with yours. Enjoy your truck and drive it as often as you can; these cars are a riot!

@@thatsallfolks9702 There's been some cussing. And I've taken everything apart twice. Lol.
