I know nothing about this game, but there were at least a few changes in the dev team. So obviously it is not the whole team working on Windblown, which worked for dead cells. Also: the team responsible for the changes and support for dead cells in the last few years is not the one working on Windblown. What I want to say is: Dont just see made by team from Dead Cells and preorder it. Look at it once it releases to know if you want to buy it
The team that worked on Dead Cells is now working on a game called The Rogue Prince of Persia, check it out its amazing and they deserve the credit for dead cells success.
Just wanted to say thanks. I ended up getting this game because of your video (had never heard of it before). Now that it's in early access, II decided to speedrun it (currently have the WR, probably not for long though) and do challenge videos. I remember watching you religiously years ago when RoR2 came out and basically thinking "I wanna do what he's doing". Well, here I am. If I can do even a fraction as good as you I'd be happy. Thanks for this video, you're the man.
It's the new game by Dead Cells' company. It's not a new game by Dead Cells' dev team, apparently. Almost no-one is left of the original team from what I've been reading Maybe you don't care, just leaving it here for transparency Game looks great though, I will probably pick it up!
The OG team of Dead Cells was two people, one of them worked on windblown, the other parted ways, so yes it is very incomplete, but not completly wrong^^
This game has nothing to do with dead cells closing. This game is made by Motion Twin (original devs of dead cells), while studio that was responsible for updates (since 1.4 i think) is Evil Empire
@@theglobe2050 Evil Empire is comprised of ex-Motion Twin devs, most DC devs either gone to EE or left MT entirely. the ones who stayed are only 4 of 8 people, 2 of whom joined the project late in development. the MT of now are not the DC creators of back then, these are different staff. EE also had a hand in DC & its long term plans since early access, they’ve been handling development since 1.3 in 2019. MT haven’t touched DC since
Keep doing these vids bro. Swear to gosh I discover a new game to add to my wish list every week cause of the amount of vids you be putting out of these things and it’s GAS
Just gave the game a try and i gotta say, idk how it feels on a controller but on a keyboard the combat doesn't feel very good bc u atack in the direction u were walking and not where ur cursor is which feels like ass, i hope they change this and make it so u atack where u point ur mouse at, it would make it A LOT better. The rest of the game feels and looks awesome
I played the Windblown demo for 3 hours when it was just released and enjoyed it. If the price isn't too excessive for an early access game, I will most likely buy it on the 24th. Also, Woolie have you ever played Ember Knights? They released their first DLC on the 15th and it's my second favorite roguelite just after Hades. Base game is 50% off now ($9.99) until the 22nd.
I really hope they continue with the crossover stuff like they did in Dead Cells. The HyperLight Drifter weapon combo was one of my favorites to use and I feel like it would transfer to this game even better considering both games are top-down/twin stick/isometric style.
im not the biggest roguelite fan, mostly burned out than dislike them. but the game looks refreshing and it has coop so im interested. but usually the problem with rogue lite coop is that the game punishes you for not getting better loot which is rng based, so unless you check nooks and crannys(dont do more than the bare minimum) you won't get more rolls and likely not have anything impressive and the run is not going to go well. in coop you need everyone playing with you to have that same understanding but what usually happens is the friends explore with you the first 2 runs, then any other runs they just rush to the shortcut or boss without anything good and then failure is pretty much guaranteed unless good lott is given on the way there. then they don't want to play anymore, i don't really blame them, its a grindy process that isn't for everyone, rogue lites are not a genre for everyone so a coop game forces .ore types of players in to playing it so this friction develops and then the game sits in your library for the ends of time like all the other rogue lite coop games. definitely something to think about if you are interested in it for coop specifically
This is NOT the game from original dead cells developers. It much more seems like this game literally killed Dead Cells updates. Read more about Motion twins and Evil Empire relationships for now.
@@oznoone6892 yea but like evilempire made it very clear they had support for the game planned for like at least another year before motiontwin just decided to kill them off out of seemingly nowhere
I genuinely wanted this game to be bad because of what MT did to Dead Cells but... It's really fun and fluid. I just hope it ends up being as good as Dead Cells, otherwise they killed it for nothing.
Props to you for admitting it and yeah, I personally have a different mindset and opinion but honestly, if anything, I would expect people to hope this game turns out to be worth it rather than boycott it. Maybe that's just the part of me that's really fckin tired of every single game release having to have some controversy surrounding it nowadays, but I really think as long as the games are good, it's not that difficult...
This is something that you should probably tell people about because you have a platform for it, but there is a lot of controversy about the title "Dead Cells Developers." Motion Twin (MT), the company that is making Windblown, made Dead Cells initially, released the first two updates, then handed the game off to Evil Empire (EE) to handle continued development. EE proceeded to make dozens more updates of much better quality than Dead Cells under MT. The controversy comes in with how Dead Cells support ended. EE had at least one major update meant to overhaul the experience for new players and a full dlc planned (Information from direct developer statements on the official Dead Cells discord server). MT cut support out from under EE with no warning. The running theory for this is that EE was starting to get more credit for actually making the majority of Dead Cells and MT wanted to sell Windblown as "By the creators of Dead Cells," thus they cut support to try to retain the title. This is generally supported by the parts of the Dead Cells community that are aware of the drama. The few statements MT has made on why they ended support sum up to them thinking Dead Cells was getting too bloated and was at a point that the game was finished, as well as a halfhearted denial of killing Dead Cells support to "make room for" Windblown (This is generally believed to be corporate bullshit). The point about Dead Cells getting too bloated is rendered off-base as soon as you realize that MT canceled support while an update meant to help new players deal with the wide variety of content was in development. Additionally, any experienced Dead Cells player will tell you that the game is very much not in a finished state. MT also did a few other scummy things, including hastily blurring out EE's company logo in the initial release of the animated show and not being open to an honest dialogue about the issue. There was really no need for any of this to happen, as all MT had to do to allow Dead Cells development to continue was to stand by and let EE continue development as planned. I do really hope you'll make some kind of announcement about this. The Risk of Rain community can empathize with the Dead Cells community in a very real way, as this isn't exactly the same as the recent RoR2 dlc situation but does bear striking similarities. Boycott Windblown. Tl:dr: Calling Motion Twin the "Creators of Dead Cells" may be technically true, but it gives them much more credit than they deserve and glosses over some truly terrible moves made by the company that harmed another company that they previously had at least cordial relations with as well as a game that is loved by many.
Thats a lot, if the game is fun ill fucking play it, i dont care who developed or continued its support man. Calling boycott for this makes no sense imo, which %99 of the players wont care anyway. If we want to really boycott some stuff, there are far worse shit going on in the gaming industry
@@Wladaas Do what you want with the information provided. I believe that MT deserves to have this game be a relative flop based on their decisions. I'm not saying that you need to boycott Windblown, I'm saying that I believe you should. Just because something worse is going on doesn't mean that lesser evils should be accepted as normal.
@@sharkastic2633 Its wild to me wishing a game to be flop lmao. Sure man. I hope you do the same boycotts for greater evils too, good luck on your endeavors.

I think the main reason this isn't seen much in modern games is weapons typically have more than 1 function. Whether that be blocks, alt attacks or heavy attacks; Right click being used. This is smart and encourages weapon swap combos rather than weapons feeling like 2 separate entities.
Well actually, Motion Twin (Who made this game) Stopped working on Dead Cells after the 1.0 release and handed development off to Evil Empires who were the ones actually supporting it until the newest update. Motion Twin doesn't seem to work on games much, if at all after release.
It will likely have a much shorter lifespan, I doubt there will be any support more than a year after launch. Motion Twin explicitly stated that their policy is to make a game and then move on, Dead Cells was a unique situation.
@@Ren-bv4md Well Evil Empire doesn't have to work on anything for MT anymore. They aren't a subsidiary of MT, they were just founded by some of the guys who originally worked on Deadcells and wanted to continue making it. The more likely reason is they didn't want the Genre overlap to overshadow Windblown.
The game looks neat, but please don't make a purchasing decision on the name of the dev team alone. There are countless examples of why that's a bad idea.
