I watched this video last year when I was on the fence about giving this ago...As I write this I am sat in my hotel in Liverpool the night before this years event ready to go!💪
It’s normal to be nervous and apprehensive before a race but the thought of running so far made me extra nervous for this event! Good luck with London next week :)
RunFamRun to be fair I can’t believe it’s humanly possibly to cover 130 miles in 35 hours so I’m not surprised you were super nervous. And you’re going to do it again! Really hope you get to video the whole thing next year! X
Been thinking about doing this route for a little while as i grew up slap bang in the middle of the route (accrington/burnley). Had no idea there was an official race. Great video - gives a good insight into the mental and physical side of the challenge! Thanks
I'm giving this event serous consideration for next year, your video is brilliant, even the filming issues give an insight into getting over mental challenges in a race of that time and distance. Well done in completing the race and completing the vlog 👏
Thanks for watching! Its an incredible event and although its the hardest thing I have ever done I still loved it and I'm looking forward to going back in 2022. I look forward to seeing you at registration in 2022 . . . go on, enter! You know you want to lol.
Thanks for the video and massive congratulations on your amazing ultra adventure, hope you have now recovered, good luck for the future, best wishes from Somerset
Wow. What a fantastic insight into what is a truly epic race. You’re all super-human. You’re all absolute heroes. I know Chris ‘rhino boy’ Green really well (26:50). He is indeed a top bloke - the nicest guy you could ever meet. I usually come down to finish line to support the finishers but sadly wasn’t able to this year. I’ve done a few 50 mile ultras but this is another level. Wish I had it in me to attempt this event but it’s not possible……. one day maybe but then again, maybe not. 😆 Congratulations once again and good luck for 2022.
I’m too old for this now but I’d have loved to have a go at it. I was with you all the way though…..(shame about missing the last half….). Great video. Well done! 👍🍷
Well done Matt, that was a great achievement. Think I will be signing up for this myself this year. Just deciding which 100miler to do with my mate at the moment. So might hopefully see you there if you do it again. I think you should do the Cheviot Goat next. That one is a tester😅keep safe🤘
What type of shoes would you recommend wearing? I am doing it this Saturday was gonna wear trail but seeing parts of the route am rethinking it now from your video
I wore Hoka Challenger ATR. I think Hoka describe them as 'light trail' althugh I would say they are more of a road/trail hybrid. I wore the same pair throughout and did not change, in fact I didnt even adjust the laces throughout the full distance! Awesome shoes and perfect for this even in my opinion. I wear ATR as my daily shoe and the default for almost every event and then swap into Hoka Speedgoat in the winter. Good luck and have fun! :)

I’m in a hotel in Liverpool too, excited but slightly scared about the run tomorrow! Good luck and I hope to meet you in the morning :)
This has made me feel slightly better about London marathon next week. Just seeing you hanging out before the race has calmed my nerves slightly
