Getting ready to carve my first bear!. Have my new stihl 180 cbe, angle grinder, straight grinder, Dremel, torch, sawzall, drill and hatchet. Salesman asked me yesterday, "how long you been doing this". Lol I said, "just today!". (I'm 63) My dream here, wanting to do this for decades, is now becoming reality. From metro Detroit, no longer working in the auto industry 50+ hour work weeks, wish me luck!. Thx for tutorials...
@@KyleHallwoodworker My first bear turned out ok. Everybody wanted it. Lol. It is pretty lame, but i learned so much after just one carving. Super pumped and look forward to my tenth, or hundredth carving. Appreciate your tutorial- ten times over. I love my new sthil 180cbe! Felled my first tree- terrified i was taking out my daughters garage. Lessons, all lessons. Lol. At 63 my body is busted up. Too many Harley wrecks, too many roofs, and too big a mouth in my younger day, so the easy start was worth the extra fifty bucks. Peace/out.
Is it possible to buy a thinner chain and smaller carving bar like a 12 inch instead of a 16 inch and buy one that has more teeth mine has only 31 teeth
Honestly it depends on the saw . The gas powered Stihl saws have that ability. I’m not sure about the saw you have . You would have to research and see if they make different bar and chains for it
Thank you so much Kyle! I’m just starting out. This bear is so cute, my hubby cut by a tree down and I thought hmmm, why not start now and I did, mine doesn’t look as beautiful as yours but it’s my very 1st special bear. Still have to fine tune him. Thanks to you and your detailed training, thank you so much Kyle!😊
Nice! Thanks for the great videos. 👍👍

Hi Kyle
What kind of tool are you using for the finishing touches?
I use saburrtooth burrs on die grinders , a flap sander , torch , paint , depends on the piece sometimes

Thank you Kyle!
Where could I get the iron horse bench
I have a link in the description below through Amazon (jawhorse)
Why does my chaisaw jump around when I begin to cut? Can you help?
Can be backwards chain , dull chain , low rpm saw so it cuts slow
