That holographic flash makes me feel like I'm in a games arcade. I know many love it but it feels a bit cheap to me. Do appreciate more diversity and his art is so lovely. Glad he changed out the backs that always looked like two condoms to me... Thanks for sharing this one!
Very nice. I always thought in the earlier edition, the illustrations took a backseat to the bling, whereas the new edition seems a better balance. It may be the saturation.
I prefer the original, I appreciate the effort he made to make the deck inclusive, but many of the new figures seem out of place for the theme of this deck.
That's interesting because while the most famous Art Nouveau figures were white European men, Art Nouveau was in international movement (inspired by Japanese woodcuts, artists of the style worked in Russia, Portugal, Argentina, Paris, America) that included different skin colours and people from different countries. There were black artists in the movement at its height and lots of beautiful art in the style that features people of colour.
@@artymiss77 totally, taste is a subjective measure but I think it's always worth interrogating why a more diverse and inclusive deck feels 'not in the theme/ style' and whether what fits the aesthetic style is simply because white figures have the default in tarot and in art. Art Nouveau is often characterised as flowing lines, natural organic motifs, metallic of reflective elements, earth and jewel tones all of which this Luna deck has. Aside from placing more contemporary figures in it (which happened in the 1960s revival of art nouveau) it doesn't stray too far from that art style
Thank you for the video Simon. I had to watch it twice as both decks are beautiful. The Luna deck is more vibrant in color the masked face are cool. I did prefer the star ⭐️ card in the original one because she’s in the misty water 🥰🦋💖✨🙏🏼
I don't have either deck yet so am trying to decide which I like best, and may then try to get it as it is so beautiful. This walkthrough will be a help with that and I will watch it again before deciding. Thanks as always for a great walkthrough Simon. x🙏🌺💕
I prefer the new one, even though I love the original too. It's such a classic already. After seeing this I think I will order the luna edition. It's wonderful.
the original tower is wearing a white mask too, you can see the ribbon attached on the side. I have put off buying the Ethereal because of the paleness. Luna looks much better!
I really love the look of this one, I have the original which is one of my go to decks but I am very tempted to get this Luna edition. The colours seem to look nicer on your indie version but maybe that’s just me 😆 thanks for the comparison my friend 😍❤️
I adore the luna edition, it's such a beautiful deck. It was my last purchase from book depository that I miss so much! I don't own the original Ethereal Visions deck. I was on the fence for so long with the original and then the Luna edition came out. I far prefer the Luna edition because of the holo foil and that it's more inclusive.
Your original indie version has much more vibrant colors than the mass market version. So DISAPPOINTING! They are very washed out and faded looking. The Luna has returned to the vibrancy of the original. I knew I wanted it, but went ahead with the other. I'll gift mine too.

I love my Luna edition

I agree! 😍
These are both gorgeous, but I think I prefer the original if only slightly. But then again I am a sucker for gold leaf!
It’s a tough call, I really do appreciate both 😝
@@the_hermits_cave it is a tough call!

You are so welcome! 😍
This is representation done well. Both decks are lovely.
Oh the Luna Edition. I feel Moon Madness coming on!
🌚
The new version looks great 👍 I do like the original hanged man, though.
I prefer the Luna edition. The colouring makes the art pop and nicer to read ❤
I agree with you 😍
I have the original Version but I have been eyeing the Luna one.

Thanks so much for this simon ! x i didn't realise that this version of ethereal visions existed so I've added it to my tarot wish list on amazon 😁

You have the original? 😝
@@the_hermits_cave I have the mass market one which you gave me 🥰
@@SpiritofAvalon I know! 😝 it was the way you put “I have the original one” like I didn’t know 🤣🤣🤣
@@the_hermits_cave oh yes! Omg my brain must be mush or something 🤣🤣❤️
The new world card looks as if the lady is sitting on the toilet.
