  • Kyle is in Tuscaloosa, AL at the Mercedes factory that will build EQS SUV and other electric models! The factory already produces GLS and GLE and is ramping up to handle EVs. In this video Kyle is joined with Holger Enzmann, who’s responsibility it is to work on the EVA2 platform which EQS SUV will be based. Thank you Magna for sponsoring this video! Excellent video, Kyle. Unlike others, I like your conversational style with the MB driver/engineer. Fast flowing with digressions into interesting areas I know you wanted answers to. Lots of useful data in a short time. The only area you faced resistance in was with the unusual MB EV braking, and that was fine. He heard you loud and clear, and the details of your concerns are on your earlier videos. I do feel that the TECHNICAL folks at many manufacturers do pay attention to feedback from respected reviewers like you and Thomas and Bjorn (MB) and Joe (BMW). You clearly know the EV world. The strange thing about the brake by wire is that back in 2003 (19 years ago) Mercedes introduced SBC (Sensotronic Brake Control) which was a brake by wire system on the W211 E Class at the time. It would've made the brake feel here much more linear and you wouldn't feel the change from regen braking to normal. They've got tonnes of experience with brake by wire so not sure why they're not using it. They've had the tech since the late 90s when they started developing it for the W211 E Class which was the best and most beautiful E Class in my opinion.

One screw, and off comes the panel, and Behold, a latch for the hood. Now you can recharge a flat 12volt battery, get the leaves, snow or the neighbors cat out from under the hood, all without a drive to the dealer, a 06 hour wait, and the loss of a years pay for the 'service' of opening the hood. But then again, whoever has the money for this, also has a slave to do the work and another '05-08' cars to use.

Ok, the EQS SUV has better proportions than the EQS sedan, it will also probably sell better than the sedan, the sedan just looks awkward, also did I hear you right, the 3rd row has more headroom than the GLE 3rd row, ok, this is the EQS SUV, so, one would assume it would be, being compared to the GLS and not the GLE 3rd row, I will wait for more info on April 19th, because from what I see, it looks a size down vs the GLS and with EQE SUV coming as well, is it safe to assume that will also be a size down from the GLE, it's clearly bigger than the GLE, I'm guessing it has the same wheelbase as the EQS sedan at 126.4 inches, that being said, the Cadillac Lyriq is starting to look better and better, this and the BMW iX, while not bad, seriously, I would say, you have to benchmark and beat the Tesla Model X and from what I've seen and heard, none of these can or will, also note the ICE GLS only comes as a 4Matic, the GLE does, however, offer a RWD model, it will be interesting to see EQS SUV offers both RWD and 4Matic or just 4Matic

The perfect reason to never get a black interior: like filming in a cave 😖

Yes, Kyle had no choice. Most savvy car reviewers get demos with light interiors, but MB missed the boat on this one. I personally had one car years ago with a black interior, and will never do that again. Cave is right!

The driver really had no answer to the regen/braking issue! Oh, well…that won’t be redesigned soon.

Would you mind explaining what the issue is? I think I missed or misunderstood it.

Isn’t this supposed to be an electric GLS? This looks way too small to be a GLS.

Kyle, what I don't like about your videos is, you never, or rarely interact with a written response to your commenters here... tantamount to a rock star who doesn't take pictures or sign autographs for fans...

Feels like a culture clash. The mercedes rep is not really attentive of what Kyle's saying. Kyle's actually praising Mercedes but somehow goes completely unnoticed - strange. I still want the car though. Been looking for a 7 seat ev!

This hyper screen nonsense has to stop. If you bought an 85" tv from best buy and it was 3 screens you wouldn't accept that 🤣

I'm pretty sure almost nobody will take their $100K+ Mercedes offroad. Not when a broken headlight will set you back $3-4K...

This Mercedes is the car for most that can afford it….

This will kill Rivian, Jaguar, LAndrover…. Very impressive. This will sell, while EQS sedan’s homely looks will hold it back.
