    Have you turned on the beta chatGPT option for “hey Mercedes”? I’ve found the feature much more useful since turning this on.
    Much of this car seems just like my EQE SUV.
    Creep mode off and strong regen is cool. But I’ve found it more effort to press the gas and modulate a low speed than to learn to anticipate creep taking over when regen slowing tails off. It’s becoming second nature for me to lift off the accelerator, let regen modulate my speed and then let it slow the car until I finally brake when creep comes in.
    Oddly, this combo has made driving an electric vehicle engaging in a way I’d thought ended when I last drove a manual transmission. I love steaming into an exit ramp and regen slowing the car the way a downshift used to work.
    The more I drive it the more I love it. The hurdle is the sheer number of feature to learn. I drove for several weeks using cruise control before realizing that the car would automatically change lanes. There are simply too many features for a dealer salesperson to cover.
    You hate the way the speed is automatically adjusted, dig in the options and turn it off. You hate how far you are behind the car in front of you in busy city drive, there’s a feature to adjust that. You hate the way it resonates over pavement bounces, change the drive mode to sport.
    Tesla has intrigued me for years, but the build quality and interior aesthetic never worked for me. Then the big boss at Tesla started saying in public what he learned to say in his junior high locker room and I knew I’d never own a Tesla. I’m so happy I waited for an electric vehicle made by adults with decades of car development experience.

      Sell the Lucid Dave. The company sucks vs. Mercedes. Get an EQ, which is right up your alley. Get the tax credit and since you got the Lucid $50K below market, you will take some cash back on the trade!

    • @nevco8774
      @nevco8774 10 месяцев назад

      @@ArnoldWintersAt this point even Lucid is going to switch to NACS if it is going to survive as a company. There are several months to get that adapter for NACS for Mercedes anyway. The Mercedes acceleration is very sluggish vs Lucid. Granted Mercedes is a practical SUV vs Lucid which is a sedan. That might prove to be a very big mistake to start producing just sedans in today world of SUVs for Lucid. Hopefully they will still be in business by the time Lucid SUV will be on sale. Obviously Dave is right: it is wise to buy a very loaded pre-owned Mercedes when price drops vs a Lucid which who knows might be an orphan brand by that time.

    Totally loved this! Had an E with the self driving and later a C class station, but no EV and certainly no S class. But this! Agree with Kyle's dad, Dave, the wide screen is a must have (in a 100K verhicle) and those side steps cause mud on luxury clothing in winter. Our E, then, also cost a while, the MB service agent took an hour and a half to go over all the features and even drive a little bit: it was a candy store! And the leather seats, the nav - and this one is just so much better with all of these features. MB just always surprises. Of course, spending x dollars is not enough is always possible with Mercedes. But what is left is just so good. I could totally imagine with your driving so loved the way you did this RUclips. Felt it. Great! And yeah, we may pick one up in a number of years ..... ;) But heck, who knows! Thanks Kyle, Dave!

    Hyperscreen on EQE/EQE SUV in the US is only available on the AMG models currently. Mercedes is releasing a new "Superscreen" that has the stand out driver cluster with the other screens integrated into the dash like the Hyperscreen. Very hard to get a Hyperscreen on the EQS 450+ (and economically bad), best to get a 580 if you want the Hyperscreen.

    Please stop judging ALL other EV’s against Tesla. I personally don’t feel that Tesla is the benchmark that everyone else is measured by. Especially in regards to build issues as demonstrated by OOS Productions. Imho the only reason to buy a Tesla over other brands is the charging network. The Hyperscreen is a hyper-mess. Lots of us car guys disdain the seemingly never-ending trend of black shiney plastic surfaces, yet the Hyperscreen is 53 inches of fingerprint and dust magnet glass plastered over literally every square inch of dashboard real estate.
    Nothing speaks premium like smudge fingerpints and loads of highly visible dust all over the dash and console.
    If your "car man" or butler wipes down your EQ after each use, then knock yourself out. Most people want to drive, commute and enjoy their cars without wiping down the interior with a damp microfiber for 30 minutes so that it doesn't look like trash when driving on a sunny day with your clients, loved ones or friends.

  • @HB-bc5it
    @HB-bc5it 10 месяцев назад

    I love this video! As an owner of two EQSs (EQSi?), a 450 sedan and a 450+ SUV, most everything in this video is spot on. In fact, I commented on the Taycan video that the EQS would be the perfect car for Dave.
    A couple of small points to add: First, Kyle commented that “there is no reason to go for the sedan over the SUV.” Having driven both for thousands of miles, my perspective is different. The sedan is faster, much more nimble, exhibits far less body roll, and has better range. Of course, the SUV is roomier and has a higher seating position, so reasonable minds can differ on the better package overall.
    Second, I have to disagree with Kyle’s view that the on-board navigation is excellent. In my experience, it’s downright unusable. It literally navigates to the wrong locations, fails to recognize basic voice prompts (constantly assumes you’re looking for locations thousands of miles away), and it cannot even find certain Electrify America locations. For example, try telling the car to navigate to the Electrify America station in Baker - it will display a bunch of ChargePoint locations but not the requested EA station. I never use the in-car navigation unless I’m trying to precondition the battery.
    Third, I agree with the comment that the RWD SUV isn’t the fastest but (i) it’s faster in sport mode and (ii) try out the sedan and the 4Matic versions before jumping to the AMG or the EQE, as they are noticeably faster (and the 4Matic can be further upgraded with an OTA update/subscription).
    Fourth, there are many non-standard options that are not obvious. For example, I did a ton of research before buying and still did not realize that not all of the HUD optioned units come with the augmented reality HUD. The fragrance/perfume with the HVAC is another option. The ability to choose those sound profiles that you demonstrated in the video is an option (one of my cars has it, the other doesn’t), and so on and so forth.
    Also, these can be bought for very cheap on the secondary market. Do not pay full price or anything close to it. You can get a 120k unit with 5k miles for 80k-85k or so. As a final note, you’re welcome to try out either of my cars if you’re serious about purchasing one and are interested in living with one for a couple of days.

      Oh, one other thing. The audio quality is significantly better via the built-in “Online Music” app vs streaming via CarPlay. Dolby Atmos in Apple Music, for example, is only enabled with the Online Music app. Which is a downright shame because the Online Music app is very glitchy, requires an internet subscription, and does not easily switch back and forth between it and CarPlay (if you’re relying on CarPlay for navigation).

    Nice vehicle. I wanted the EQE but no hyperscreen, I ended up getting the Ariya and love it.
    Was charging last week and next to me one of these pulled up with a good looking woman and she was having trouble getting the charge started so I helped her and got the number lol.
    We both checked out each other's cars and she loved the Ariya. (I get compliments all the time)

      @flemmingubbesen917 heard that since preorders. Due to chip shortage they only offer it on the EQE, might only be the AMG line not sure but EQE definitely doesn't have it. They said possibly next year so who knows

    Price wise… bang for your buck. This thing is way over priced. In Canada, these START at $165,000. That’s insane! My polestar 3 performance is fully loaded except for leather / LiDAR, and it was $107k+tax. Polestar is coming for Mercedes, Audi, bmw, and they should be worried

    I am warning you all. Please do not buy this car based on its outside beauty. They do not have spare parts in stock for this vehicle. If something bad like an electrical part is not working or some minor accident happens, you may keep your vehicle for months in workshops. My vehicle has been sitting in a workshop for the past 60 days since they do not have a spare part, and the funny thing is they do not have an ETA for that. I have knocked on all the doors and even wrote a letter to the CEO MB. They do not have customer sympathy; eventually, we will waste our hard-earned money. German company does not care about Americans. I suggest buying a TESLA even though they have issues with the car is better. They are customer friendly modern company.

    IMO, the washer fluid input was okay to put there. it makes it wasier to fill instead of having to go under the steering wheell and pull on a latch and open a big hood just to insert fluid.

    Cars are a lot like women, one man thinks she is beautiful and another says not so much. I like the EQS 580 sedan after returning a Lucid. Dave, drive mine in Naples in August.
    I really wanted the EQE last January, but it wasn’t available. You must have the hyperscreen and dual motors for acceleration. Ambient lighting has 4 zones, each selectable for color / brilliance, and it looks awesome at night with hyperscreen. While not the acceleration of my model S, the EQS massage seats, quiet driving, Apple Car Play, 3-level fragrance dispenser, lane changing adaptive cruise control, and rear wheel steering are welcome trade offs.
    Range for me is much better than EPA for combined city & highway driving. It appears to use your previous miles per KWh to estimate range during charging and one time I got 459 mi at 100%.
    However, I HATE missing frunk, stupid start/stop button, no walk away lock, and not enough settings in profiles. Also, I’m disappointed AC charging is limited to 9.6kW (40 vs 48A) and DC fast charging at only 200 kW for a big battery.
    The 450+ models are not selling well so dealers appear to discount them. Also, many previously owned 450+ are available at low prices.

    Weird brake pedals, no shades on the back seat, no soft close. I don't understand why this car is any better than a Q8 e-tron. Is it just pure range and a "promised" future Tesla connector?
