      Zyuu Fuwada I would argue that Ling (especially if working perfectly with Greed) could.
      Early in the series, Ling successfully fights Bradley off.
      With one arm.
      While carrying an injured woman on this shoulders.

    • @houseofaction

      But that's the whole reason Bradley never gave greed the chance to use his ultimate shield and the reason he took advantage of Greed's one weakness, he can't heal and use his shield at the same time. That's why when he is given the chance Bradley always mops the floor with Greed.

    • @polygon2745
      @polygon2745 4 года назад +37

      @@teamcybr8375 He fights on the defensive for less than ten seconds against a Bradley who is very obviously not giving it his all. It's still a testament to Ling's immense skill that he was even able to do that much, but I honestly doubt that 15 year old Ling is a better combatant than Bradley even WITH Greed. The latter's been training since birth AND is enhanced with the Ultimate Eye.
      And as per literal word of god, Prime Bradley would be unstoppable lol. Arakawa has said that the good side would have just straight up lost since no one would have been able to beat him.

    I think Selim's baby body is inspired by the real world medieval theory that humans had tiny humanlike dwarfs inside them called Homunculi, which was an explanation of how pregnancy worked. The three main goals of our worlds old alchemy were to transmute gold, discover immortality, and create homunculi.

    I love how much symbolism there is in this show. Every character has something going on with them. Hell, the homunculi alone are chalked full of irony:
    -Lust was killed on her knees by the fiery passion of a man protecting his love. Also, Roy has a reputation for being a lady killer.
    -Gluttony was eaten. He was consumed by one who was hungry for power; another form of gluttony.
    -Envy kills himself because he realized he was jealous of humans.
    -Sloth died from over-exertion. He chose to die when living required too much effort. Also, one of the people responsible for his death was Alex, a man who did nothing when he knew his government was in the wrong (Ishval). Alex refused to repeat that mistake and took action; ending his own sloth.
    -Wrath died at peace with his life. And he was killed by Scar, a man who overcame his own anger.
    -Pride, while not technically dead, is defeated when he lowers his standards to become something he believes to be below him. Furthermore, Ed had long since abandoned his own pride after being humbled many times in his life.
    I love it. It's up there with Avatar for great shows.

    In a sense, Edward became a philosopher's stone before. When he was mortally wounded from falling on that pipe, he used his own spirit like a "one-soul philosopher's stone" to patch his injuries, even though it shortened lifespan in the process. It looks like he did the same thing again, this time to spare Pride. I think he spared him so Mrs. Bradley wouldn't have to lose both a husband AND a son.

    Just thought I'd put some perspective on how INSANELY tough and badass Bradley is.
    Consider this: Scar is, I would say, one of the top 3 or 4 combatants in the series, along with maybe Izumi, Mustang, and of course Bradley. And the distance between him and some of the others is not even close. He destroyed the Elrics twice (literally in the first case), repeatedly made short work of Gluttony, and Armstrong was doing all he could to just not get killed by him. He was also quick enough to make Hawkeye miss him at close range, and even before he got his destruction arm he was taking down armed soldiers barehanded. In short, Scar clearly outclasses most of the rest of the cast.
    Also, Scar starts out the fight uninjured and we can assume at full strength. He also has his new reconstruction arm, which Bradley clearly did not know about.
    Bradley, on the other hand, has multiple serious wounds at the start of the fight with Scar. He had a sword run through his gut, a bullet through his shoulder, and his Ultimate Eye taken out.
    So you have a one eyed, half dead Bradley against a full health Scar who's kicked everyone else's asses so far and has a literal ace hidden up his sleeve, and only through a stroke of *luck* does Scar kill Bradley.
    And even with said stroke of luck , Scar almost died anyway.

    • @michaelshahoe
      @michaelshahoe 6 лет назад +34

      I would say Ling is a better combatant than Mustang. Mustang is just overall stronger because of his strong alchemy. As a fighter, Ling may even be better than Scar. Unlike Scar who had alot of trouble dealing with Bradley who's heavily injured, Ling managed to hold off Bradley while carrying Lan Fan and forced Bradley to use Gluttony to help.

    • @hawkflame9584
      @hawkflame9584 6 лет назад +9

      I was speaking as an overall threat in Battle. Mustang took down two homunculi almost singlehandedly. Also, Ling held off Bradley with entirely defensive maneuvers for less than a minute by going into his blind spot before blindsiding him with Gluttony to end the battle ASAP. Scar doesn't have that luxury.

    • @michaelshahoe
      @michaelshahoe 6 лет назад +15

      Ling held off Bradley with entirely defensive maneuvers while holding a wounded woman on his back. Unlike Ling, Bradley could move freely. Bradley had all the advantage, yet Bradley couldn't counter it beside using a second party.
      If Ling was fighting Bradley in this final battle, Ling would've taken full advantage of Bradley's injuries and his permanent blindspot. Ling is a smart fighter afterall and he may even be faster than Bradley. Bradley is known for his insane speed, yet Ling managed to get from point A to Fu to point B in that small timeframe of Wrath trying to finish off Fu.
      Both Wrath and Ling were nerfed throughout the series. I would even consider Ling to be superior than Bradley if Greed gave Ling access to his power.

    something to take note of about the scene where Bradley was blinded by the sun. In alchemy and many different cultures/religions, the eclipse is considered a symbol of god/gods/the highest power. Ironic that right at the moment Bradley proclaimed there was no real god that the very symbol of god intervened and caused his death.

    If you recall when Pride was alone with Al in Hohenheim's trap, he explained how he had on at least one occasion been surprised at his foster mother's willingness to protect him with her own life, so the flashbacks to his adopted family aren't out of the blue. Pride had probably started to develop affection for them, or at least his mother if not Wrath too. We also have to assume the Fuhrer's wife would have noticed at some point that her adopted son didn't seem to be growing up, so Selim had probably only been adopted relatively recently at the beginning of the series. I guess he was just added assurance because Father knew the promised day was getting close. Before that, Pride's only real job was probably keeping Sloth's tunnels protected.

    Consider this: during the Ishval extermination, the iIshvalvans said that God would strike him down for his sins. During the last battle with Scar, the eclipse broke, forming the alchemical sign for good, allowing scar to kill him. So, that's some big foreshadowing right there!

    Remember when Edward used his own soul to heal his wound when he was stabbed accidentally with a metal, that's the same logic there. He made his own soul to a philosopher stone to get Selim.

    all those pipes in father's lair are pumping his xerxian souls around amestris and by sending a command through them, father can block alchemy, because alchemy draws energy from tectonic motion, father can block that energy from ever reaching the alchemists.
    however, the reason he has been unable to stop scar, mei and ling from using their alkahestry abilities is because they draw energy from the living flow of energy that exists in all living beings and in the surface, in order to block that, father would have to wrap an alkahestry practitioner in his philosopher's stone. scar in particular is special here, because his tattoos are a mix of alchemy and alkahestry and theoretically make him the only person able to perform a clap transmutation without having seen the truth.
    so, by using the counter-circle, the ishvalans took away father's ability to negate alchemy by cleansing the souls between them and the tectonic plates. and yes, what every alkahestry practitioner senses when they walk into amestris is father's putrid, stinking energy flowing under the ground.

    Ed using his life like a philosophers stone, is the next step of when he healed himself. In both instances Ed uses his life force as one uses a philosophers stone. Ed did need to do that to get to Pride’s original self.
