Great tips for me. I just got a snowblower after years (too many years) of shoveling. Thank you, sir!

Great tips thanks, but do be careful when clearing out the impeller area. Make sure you disconnect the spark plug before monkeying around in there as it may accidentally start as you’re turning everything by hand

I pull the plug wire off of mine before servicing or cleaning. Some have holes where you can lock the impeller into place with a bar to remove the nut for repair or replacement.

A tip I've learned through experimenting with a small tire that has lost it's bead and come off of the rim: - I found that if I put a ratchet strap clamp around the center of the outside circumference of the tire (on the treads) I can ratchet the tire to where the inner tire bead compresses back tight against the rim. I also spray a small amount of WD40, or similar, on the area where the tire will meet the rim to help it slide together. When you get the tire slightly snug against the rim you can slowly add air and it won't leak out. (If you're adding air and can hear it leak you will probably need to tighten the strap a little). The tire might even make a pop noise when the air you're putting in pushes the tire tight against the rim. Stop putting any more air in at that point and remove the ratchet strap clamp (it will be tight). When you have the strap off of the tire then fill the tire to the suggested psi. I find it easier to take the wheel off the machine and work on a bench, however it probably is doable while the wheel is still on the machine. Always use caution when working with anything under pressure. If you find yourself in this predicament this might be a more convenient and quicker way than bringing the wheel and tire to the repair shop.

I'm sure those tips will help a lot of people Dennis. It looks like a very heavy bit of kit to manoeuvre. I'll bet you're very glad you purchased it because you have some big areas to keep clear there.

Do you have a gravel driveway ? I have and been wondering how big of an issue it is with a gravel driveway and a snowblower?

    • @rdreamhomestead1451
      @rdreamhomestead1451  Год назад

Yeah, I have a gravel driveway. The first couple of times I blew the snow, it shot quite a few rocks around but after I adjusted the skid shoes it was much better. It still can kick up a bit of gravel but not as bad as in the beginning. I just make sure to blow the snow away from cars or windows.

Oh thanks a a lot for the reply I have to do something for snow and did not want to spend 20k yikes on a tractor. We dont get to much snow but this last year we had 2 storms in a row that just buried us. I was not sure about gravel but I will jack up the skids our road is fairly flat so it should be ok Thanks! @@rdreamhomestead1451

Avoid snowblowing the first snow of the season if possible to let the ground freeze. Set the skid shoes as high as they go or use the 'transport' option if you unit has it. Push down to avoid the blower digging down into the snow to avoid grabbing a bunch of gravel. After a few uses you get to know where the gravel is more likely to come up.
Also, make sure you know how to replace the shear pin.

These new aggressive tread snow blower tires work best when the tire pressure is 18 to 20 PSI. All tires lose air pressure over time. Best to check the tires in late fall so they are at the right PSI when the snow hits. Fall is the perfect time to start the machine and make sure everything is ready for the winter season. I change my oil every season regardless of the hours used. Spray all the cable moving parts with silicone spray to help alleviate ice buildup during operation. Open the inspection plate and lubricate the gears and chains and the gear selector slide axle. Also check the condition of the friction rubber wheel and drive disk. Take the wheels off and lubricate the axles to keep them from rusting on the axles. Also, lubricate the axle bushings for longer life. Take the cover off and check the condition and tension of the belts and use a spray lubricant on the pulley bearings. Sense you are in an area that gets plenty of snow during the winter, full maintenance every year is not a bad idea. Changing the spark plug every season may not be a bad idea either. Sense you use premium fuel which has fuel cleaning additives, your carburetor should stay clean. After the winter season it is still best to close the fuel line and drain the carburetor float bowl completely. Nothing worse than a plugged-up carburetor when you need to use the machine. In your area, you are definitely dependent on well performing snow blower. Enjoy your videos, thanks for sharing and have a blessed and safe winter.

@@rdreamhomestead1451 yes this is true, it even gets in the sommer extrem hot and in the winter extrem cold. I heard that in Sacaton the Corona Breakout is very high, like in many places in Canada. Pleas take care and stay healthy. :-)

In my manual it clearly says check the tire pressure first! You need to do that so they are both the same and then you need to set the level of the skids on each side. If one tire is way lower pressure then the unit won't be level when you set the skid height.

There are some Safety Sallys who will tell you not to move the impeller by hand like that. I'm not one, however, since you say you are new to blowers, I will say why. If, for some reason, the belt was stuck engaged and you turn that by hand and it was also turning over the motor, it could fire and you'd have a bad day.
I know a guy missing some fingers from a snow blower, so, they deserve a little respect.
Some shops will throw tubes in tubeless tires like that because sealing low pressure tires like that can sometimes be tricky. I had one that would lose pressure, but as the blower got older, it seemed to start holding air better.
My old blower had tires that were so old and hard that could run them at zero PSI just fine. I'd only add air if I needed to install the chains.

You'll be a real pro soon. :) You know if you have ice or snow in the front when it turn you supposed to have safety pins that break when it's getting to hard, not sure but most have 2 on each side ( the 3 white parts) of the turning things in front and 1 on the wheel that trow the snow out the chute, so if something break it's probably be one of them, easy to change, maybe you got spare one that came with the machine if not good idea to get some just in case, never know. :)

Yea, I have 4 extra pins but the impeller wasnt rurninf at all because there was ice blocking it and the belt was still workinf but was starting to burn. The pins are for if I pick yp a large branche or toy, then they break
