Damn Alanna made it to become a Victoria secret model....
Yeah this woman has a good eye for models.
Vs is catalog modeling.. What's the hype?
@@chrislovitt46 They are still memorable faces!
@@chrislovitt46 So? It’s an iconic brand and big supermodels of the 90s modelled for them.
I was watching this video about a 'dumped' model. She said 'If you wanna model, go for it! It's a great experience, you get to travel the world and meet new people. You just have to stand your ground and don't listen when they say to starve yourself Your health and wellbeing is more important then fitting beauty standards.'
I completely agree. Being a model sounds amazing (i would like to do it even thought I'm a mouldy potato), I just don't agree with the pressure that is put on these men and women to look like Ken and Barbie.
Ela what video was that
The industry is darker than that
I live in Paris, everyday I walk across a bridge where fashion shoots are CONSTANTLY held. It's always been my little secret dream to be scouted, but I don't know if I could do it.
Take a shot.. who knows? ?
which bridge ? 😅
You are in one of the biggest fashion capitals in the world, take that chance💕
I dated Kim Snowden for a while. One of John Casablanca's favorite models. She was with Ford and Elite model management. But she was discovered at 18 at a shopping mall. Some guy walked up to her and gave the pitch and a phone number. She never though of being a model. But in the 90s, she was one of the top 10 paid models in top 10 ranked models in the world.
Jon was a pedophile. Do you know his history?
Oh my goodness I want to model so bad
then do it
It's not all it's cracked up to be. I mean, aside from the constant scrutiny on your looks, the pressure to be underweight and maintain it, and the sexual harassment, there is a lot of financial exploitation that occurs. Getting signed is no guarantee of work; they set models up in these shared apartments that are like 2 bedrooms and 6 or 7 girls, and take it out of your paycheck; when you get booked overseas your travel and accommodation expenses also have to be reimbursed to your agency; sometimes you get paid in clothes and accessories rather than cash. Unless you make it to the top of the heap, you don't really make that much money. It isn't unusual for rookie models to be living below the poverty line making $10,000 a year. I've heard some models say that they actually end up OWING their agencies money rather than turning a profit. During fashion shows models have to get up really early in the morning but are required to stay really late at night with very few meal and rest breaks. And for the most part, by the time you reach 26 you're considered "too old" for the industry. If you gain weight or your appearance changes, you get dropped, and there's little concern shown to models who show signs of drug use and eating disorders.
Send a pick
@@moonlily1 if you get signed to a good agency that won't be the case-
@@ayesha6498 A "good" agency like who, as opposed to what other agency? Stories from models are pretty consistent.
I would love to be a model. it's really is a confidence booster but the longer you're in it, the deeper you go and the more you really see. the same thing that gave you that confidence boost, is the same thing that could tear you down.
I’ve been modeling for over 3 years and have walked in more than 10 fashion shows, but never have been scouted. I’ve been getting all the shows my self by using backstage and other social media. But I really hope one day I do get scouted🥺
Being a model is just glamorised marketing/advertising.
true!
yeah.... it’s the point...
Since I saw Alana in the VS fashion show 2016, I already liked her. She's so.. fresh and fun.
Why do model scouts always look dodgy af
its so true the people that scout talent and pick and choose who they think is attractive are the most unsightly people its very ironic
Oh god.. How does a nice, polite lady look DODGY? But no, if you're impying that model scouts do not look like models that's because they aren't -_- It's not their job to be beautiful or skinny or anything, that's the models' job.
Eva B. No, it’s just they make interesting choices. Like, out of all the pretty people you choose HER?? Ya know, that’s all (non-offensive)
What is dodgy mean?
@@evab.6240 nah I’m saying she looks dodgy
I was scouted by some random lady when I was a child lol My parents were against the idea of it so I missed the chance lol haha
lol same
Nalaumma 19 Same but twice. Same happened with my childhood bestfriend, but I would never model it all seems fake. I rather live the simple life ☺.
Same 3 times
Nalaumma 19 I’d cut ties with them forever lol
omg me too 😭😭😭
There is a documentary on these people and it truly shows how awful they are. They tell potential models exactly what her measurements need to be, give them a matter of weeks to get there, and if their waists are a centimeter away, they cut them off no matter how beautiful they are. Not to mention, they let teenagers make major career decisions(as do all model scouts, obviously). The modeling industry is a truly awful one. Do not let videos like this fool you.
People choose to be models, no one is forcing them.
...I said that?
Catie K
... no you didn't?
I said they let teenagers make major career decisions. Of course a 17 year old is going to want to be a model.
+Catie K Not every 17 year old wants to model. At 17 you are old enough to decide with your parents help whether that industry is right for you or not. You're making it out to be absolutely horrible but if they hate it that much they can just leave. It's not that big of a deal.
I hate that you have to be tall and super thin to be a fashion model
kat suarez you don't have to be there are different types of modeling
You forgot most models agencies you have to 30, and younger ,and white. There is some minority models and older models but on the whole they fit the categories I stated above.
I am confident but the main reason I want be a model is to see if I could do it. Models all look so different, I want to see if i could be one of them. I want to see if I could be what they are looking for.
me: having goosebumps while watching this. I'd love to join the fashion industry but I'm scared.
I’ve been wanting to model for years. Please make a video on how to get started in modeling !!! (:
It's a bit disappointing because I was really interested in this agency but all they seem to scout are white girls and a few light skinned mixed girls:( and the white girls they scout usually look like any other girl you would see at school just tall.ive applied to other agencies though with more diversity tho:)
How's it going now? Have you been accepted into an agency? Just curious...
The girls are mostly white because they scout in the Midwest....
Good luck with finding an agency 🙂. I'm dark skinned and a few months ago I got scouted :)
do you own a niche meme account?
Did u get an agency are u modeling now
I never got the "eyes wide set apart" thing
+lnejavi It gives a person a more youthful appearance generally.
I love that look. I think it just makes them seem more unique but idk
lnejavi it can look more alien like
Yeah anything a little weird or off about a model is not necessarily because they're pretty but because it stands out. If you find a flaw in someone's face you're most likely to stare at them more and thus you look them up and down more and then 'wolla' you're intrigued by the clothes and not the model anymore and you've sold you're product if you're a designer. That's why some gap teeth, thick brows, and set apart eyes helps as long as the person is still kind of attractive.
San Junipero Symmetry
"We treat them like our kids", yeah I'm sure you do. Telling them to skip a week of meals to look "beautiful". It's so stupid and everyone knows that. It is sad and disgusting to watch these girls being judged and poked and prodded and made to feel bad about themselves. It is truly horrible
Julia Anderson most of the people that
Get into the industry know they are going to be prodded you're a hanger for these clothes the clothes are wearing you, not the other way around. Also it is horribly that some people allow themselves to stop eating and be treated with no respect.
Julia Anderson no they dont skip meals its called working out and being healthy you probably skip meals cuz your fat and you want to be a model
They're not good people. ABC did a segment on them and what they really do and it's kind of horrible.
Julia Anderson I’m never skipping a damn meal in my life lol
Modelling isn't that much fun, it's hard work, many jobs you do are unpaid, people treat you like shit, and you end up in lots of debt to your agency. If you're not booking jobs, they'll keep inviting you to have new polaroids taken (at a cost each time). It all gets added to your account. Think long and hard before you choose this career.
Amy Silverman woah I actually didn't know that you had to pay the agency for pictures. I thought they just got commission from your jobs.
It’s like trying to get an agent to be an actor. They’ll tell you you need new head shots and the photographer they send you will get money from you and then give some of the money to the agent so they give it other kickbacks..
Wow this last part was insanly beautiful!!
Yikes..what's with all the youngins saying they'd "do anything to be a model"? Pull that bus over to the side of Desperation Highway! No. 1, don't let anyone or anything take away ur personal dignity. No. 2, treat modeling like a sport - u have 2 b mentally and physically fit and stay on ur game, and eventually u can retire from it in ur 30's and use what u learned in a 'real' career, No. 3, study the industry, read the magazines, learn the photographers, find out which agencies are merging, etc. And don't let the industry get under ur skin, 'cause it can get nasty
If I ever came across with the models in this video I would have never thought they're models or looked them twice
If i given a change to be a model i would accept it with all my heart this is the dream i've been wanting since i was a child despite of my height, body and face. I think model nowadys are more looking for something unique and diverse that can rock the photoshoots and runways and that's a beautiful thing.
Im 5'11 but im not 'model skinny' and im 16 but i live on a small island in the caribbean and here they do have like shoots for the island magazines and for carnival or like smal clothing stores for the newspaper ads and stuff like that but they don't really go out and notice or pick out potential people. They kind of just choose those who are like most popular in some schools or like who are skinny enough or pretty enough but i do have to say the one thing i find good that they do here on my island is that you could be plus size and they'd pick you but you just have to either be well known or pretty. When you're tall and young the first thing people tell you whether they know you or not is, "you should be a model" which is kind of cool because you feel so much better about yourself but that also confuses you about who you want to be, it changes your whole view point in life and then you start questioning what you want. I myself is confused right now
aww i love her!! I met her when I was signed to Next before I moved on to IMG. :)
Girl give me her email I need an agent. Know anyone in maimi southbeach area?
im 14 5'6 and 99 pounds, do u think i have a chance?
I was ( and still am) awkward in high school, why wasn't I scouted? 😩
My favorite video ever , love it keep doing videos like that
I hope to be scouted one day!
I was modle scouted in a costco when I was 7! hahah, didn't do it! I have a love for the theatre.
HAHAHHA, model*
Not gonna lie, this video inspired me and I am about to go for a job interview at modeling agency, for the booker and agent position so, appreciate your time
I wanna do this
Mode I don't know how to start
Mode love to be
maybe ask or write to an agency via Email. I think they also need people as you need agencies. so just give it a try one never knows :)
Julie Zaborowski No
Intern... work ur way up.
I would love too model but I dont even know how to begin the process.
Well first you need to find a mother agency who can get you connected to different jobs. But before doing that you need to meet height requirements and such. I would recommend looking into it if your really interested :)
+Toga Emrich Im 5"11 so I probably couldn't haha.
+descentoflight no 5'11 is an amazing height. I wish I could be that tall lol. I'm only 5'7 and I'm 15. I've only had a few basic shots for my portfolio, but I have to wait until I'm sixteen. But your height def qualifies you! If you want to look into it! You could go to mother agencies in your area were I live we don't have many agencies but another option includes sending in photos to agencies like Wilhelmina. You could always look up agencies in your area or just popular agencies looking for models :)
+Toga Emrich Huh, I didnt know that. I haven't had any shots of myself professionally done. I live in a small town in North Carolina too. I know I would love to walk runways around the world. Im just young, broke & fierce & wanna walk the runways. Im for sure gonna do some research!
@@descentoflight hey it’s been 4 years. I wonder if you’ve become a model yet?
I really want to be in the modeling industry that I even told my mom and we are trying to find an agency
I feel like I've almost been scouted before, but only because I was wearing heels at the time. I was walking around the mall and going to a restaurant and these two people went in and started arguing while staring at me I feel like the guy didn't like me but when I got out my seat they realized that I'm actually only 5'6
I've always wanted to model
Alanna is a Victoria secret model now
I really want to be a model scout!
wait for them to grow, then harvest
I LOVE THAT 70s SHOW
This gave me so much hope
I’m 14 and 5’9, should I give it a go??
Dear Future Me definitely!!! I’m 5’3 and I’m 17.. so my lucks gone
These series are amazing.
I'm 5'5. Should i give it a try?
Waaaah😍 i hope i can be scouted too😭 modeling is my dream huhu😭 i know I'll be a model not now but soon👌😊
Mary Clarke seems adorable !
Ok this is not to brag or anything I used to get bullied sm ab my looks bc I look different but my face and body is extremely proportional and I’m 5’9 125 pounds with very pale white skin and wavy/curly black hair and have always been told that I need to model but I’m scared I’m gonna die before I come across an agency that will answer my damn emails...
Dude, modeling is not a great thing to get into a lot of the time. I remember trying to get into it and it wasn’t fun. I was tall enough, and they were fine with my waist, but my hips were too big for them, and when my mom heard that she dragged me out of there. Hated that area of my body for YEARS after that. Unless major reform happens in that industry, I would never consider trying it again or recommending it to anyone else.
I honestly want to do this! Modelling is definetely what im going for with my future career, although im just not sure how to get started :/
Maybe Instagram and RUclips. Lots of RUclipsrs get sponsored to represent companies, not as runway models, but being the face of the brand.
You are able to express yourself freely through these platforms. I feel like official modelling agencies are very restrictive, you just wait around for them to find you a job by sending your profile around. While with Instagram or RUclips, you can make videos, talk about yourself, express yourself and the opportunities are endless. You are more heard if you can build your audience.
And then once you are hi, you will have management companies approach you to help you grow even more.
she is so beautiful💎
you are beautiful too,How is your town in Winter ?..I am Bobi from remote forest in North of Iran and here is very silent with heavy fog so I wish to talk to some foreigners
I sometimes wish I lived in America because I feel like I'll never be scouted since I live in a small country
Hi Nikki Sixx, welcome to my RUclips Page love the music
This is so cool
I’m pretty average in height, or pretty much short considered. I once tried to audition for a modeling job. They loved me, only problem was is my height. They required 5’9 women but said it was open to all ages and heights. Makes no since. It’s hard to chase your dreams now or days.
I submitted online but they never email me back :/
i hope someone will scout me one day 😄❤
I was scouted in S.Korea when I visited there, a year after I did plastic surgeries there and ended up as a model for beauty products and some fashion catalogue shots. Who would've thought that a tall, skinny, lanky, awkward looking girl like me would be asked to be a model?
I dont think it would happened if I didnt do the surgeries
You look very nice yourself. 😊
I love this !
thats so cool! I am a fashion designer from Iowa!
I live in Cedar Rapids and I'll still waiting to get found
I want to do this. But I don't know exactly where to start. I want an agency so bad to sign me. I feel like this is what I was meant for. This is my dream
get experience. find someone you know to be a photographer and practice posing. don't trade with some scummy "photographer" online because they are just a creepy guy with a camera after your nudes. also don't pay a ton for photos. just get a friend who can take decent photos.
modeling is like acting on still photos. you need a range of expressions, poses, interact with environment, make it believable but also sell the product you are wearing/visiting. you need confidence. you also need to know your face well, best angles, etc.
dance can help with body control, acting can help with expressions, a mirror will help with angles.
in the end most models are nobodies clothes hangers, be careful what you wish for, as it is exciting, but short lived career for many. also have your morals and stand ground, people will pressure you all around. lastly, you will face rejection, don't take it personally.
annie b
you are a goddess
@@annieb2567 u are a great help b'c i wanted to know this too thx
Omg I want to join where do I go
I've always wanted to be a model i hope that dream comes true

I would love to be a model someday. my passion is to always be apart of the fashion industry in some type of way.
I’m super interested in modeling and I’m about 5’10 and 15yrs and skinny but I feel like my face isn’t cut out for modeling because I think my eyes are too far apart and their just like really weird but yeah. I would be so down to just model my body tho but who knows🤷🏽♀️
samantha betancourt same age and height but I think my nose is big we should talk more
Do you have an Instagram??
im 14 and 5'6 we should try together
Please come to Pittsburgh
I really want to be a model i am fiteen years old and 5'8, it have always been my dream!
Its funny two years later the girl they showed is in victorias secret
I 17 year old and wanna be a model very bad, I can do anything for it.. but the problem is that I am only 5'6 which is too short. is there any solution?
commercial, petite modeling etc
I’m 5’6 too & its my dream as well
i dont understand why is it all about growing up someone's 14 year old kids. The industry is in the end about the aesthetics, so why they never scout young looking adults? i really dont get it
Love this
lmao most of these girls look similar.
soon i will apply ..
i hope to do this someday i think finding models nowdays is really NOT that hard. you just need a good eye. but its not just about looks but the model needs to be willing to learn and good at taking directions and i think needs to be open minded. but yeah like places like target and other places ooooh i am soooooooooooooo hoping i can start a modeling agancy with a ffriend soon its gonna be a prototype thing as i dont think she will want to do it full time but if i can get it started then i have better success for future lol
6'2" aspiring model here!
Im still waiting to be discovered
I used to get scouted as a kid all the time. But I don't anymore. What happend? Why?
I look kinda like the girl at 0:31
I really want to model.
I want to become a model really badly but I feel i don’t look like models and I don’t want to tell my dad about it x I’m 14
Lovely
Come to Chicago, Illinois
Soo how do you go out looking for models? Because I really want to be a model this has been my dream every since I was younger ( like 3 ) I’m 14 now
This were the people who walked in the mall looking for new models?
+Jazmin mall scouts are normally scams
yeah they are
i got scouted so many times but i've never turn up for auditions because modelling is not what i want to do :(
run run run
just give it a try.. When you are older you can tell your kids about the time you did a model shoot
How many times have you been scouted?
Bias! Yoongi
I never thought I would ever find an ARMY in such a random video on the internet
Im 5’8 do i have any chance thats the main thing im worried about
I always wanted to be a model since I was born but I never had I chance to
How am i supposed to be scouted if i live in an unknown location.
Do agencies ever send scouts to New Zealand?
oh hey i'd love to be a model wink wink
Oh my friend was offered a contract with this agency, but she ended up going with another one.
The third girl from the left at 1:12 went to my school holy shit
I wish I was tall, does anyone have any tips to boost my height?
Brianna Lui Try wearing high heels or boots with small heels! Not only do they make you look taller while you where them, but they can help your balance and posture! Good posture can add an inch or two to your height compared to slouching. Do a lot of stretching exercises like yoga, dance, or Pilates. If you still don't think your tall enough, don't worry! You don't have to be tall to be a model! There is petite modeling, which is very competitive but still an option! And there are huge models who have made it in the industry like Kate Moss even though they're considered short. The thing is to not take no for an answer. Cara Delevingne was rejected as a model for Marc Jacobs because they said she was too short! Now she's one of the highest paid models of 2017! Don't focus too much on your height, love! You'll get there if you really try!
you can do stretching , it might make you grow inch in one month or two
Um.. Scout me? xD I'm right here lol
Still interested?
i would love to model, but i am not tall enough and i don't see myself doing anything else.
how do you start ?
A lot of Caucasian models..... :-(
maybe in this video. the high end magazines we have at work have more ethnic models in them.
That's because she's a scout who works in the Midwest
How do you become a model scout,?
I wish that was me that's my dream
