13. Ann Wilson Heart - Dreamboat Annie (1976) Heart - Little Queen (1977) Heart - Dog & Butterfly (1978) Ann Wilson is the only person I think could credibly take Robert Plant's place in Led Zeppelin. What's incredible is her voice is still in fantastic shape. I saw them live about ten years ago, and she sounded amazing, and I heard she still does. "Crazy on You."
Superb choice, mine earlier in the month. Teaser and the Firecat and Tea For the Tillerman probably his best of all with Teaser for me just about favourite.
Today's pick is Lindsey Buckingham he just has that unique ability to convey so many emotions in one song and whether it's his classics with Fleetwood Mac or his excellent solo material Lindsey is a master
My pick today is Ian Gillan (Deep Purple). Fav Albums - Deep Purple in Rock (1970)), Fireball (1971) & Machine Head (1972) Fav Vocal - "Highway Star" (My picks are not in any order.) Pick 13 - Ian Gillan Pick 14 - BB King Pick 15 - Ozzy Osbourne Pick 16 - Burton Cummings Pick 17 - Joe Cocker Pick 18 - Roy Orbison Pick 19 - Jim Morrison Pick 20 - Robert Plant
#13 Rob Halford Judas Priest "Sad Wings of Destiny" (1976) Judas Priest "Point of Entry" (1981) Judas Priest "Screaming for Vengeance" (1982) "Victim of Changes" and "Painkiller"
IAN GILLEN - DEEP PURPLE - In Rock and Chid in Time; From Fireball, Fools, could also have picked No One Came and the vocal style which he still uses to good effect on Equals 1 the latest and very good DP album; and from Machine Head, Pictures of Home. My favourite vocal today is the ultimate classic DP song Smoke on the Water. The riff of course is what makes this track but Ian’s vocal is outstanding.
13. Singer: Robert Plant. 😃👍. Long after the dawn of Punk Rock, as a punky prep teen watching the film The Song Remains The Same (1976), Robert Plant seemed like pure 1970s rock excess. (That was not cool to me). However, at the same time, I had all of the Led Zeppelin vinyl albums (late 1970s era reissues) and had absorbed them completely. These days, I do “forgive” my 1970s rock idols and appreciate them more, particularly this Golden God. Three Led Zeppelin albums: Untitled (IV) (1971), Houses of the Holy (1973), and Physical Graffiti (1975). Song: “Kashmir” from Physical Graffiti. 🔥. Classic Robert Plant vocals! Fabulous track! Rock Always! - Heather
Today is roger daltrey. Albums. 1) quadraphenia. 2) who by numbers 3) whos next . Song would be Love reign oer me. Roger belts it out pretty good on that one
13. Mick Jagger The greatest frontman in the history of Rock…just keeps rolling along. And that’s good for me having been here for the whole ride. I can still remember that high pitched guitar and Mick’s aggressive singing on “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” coming over my transistor radio in 1965. Other early great tunes for me were “Get Off of My Cloud”, “19th Nervous Breakdown” & “Paint It Black”. Mick and Keith Richards, or the “Glimmer Twins”, have known each other since grammar school. They met up later on a bus over blues records. But Brian Jones was the early leader. He named the band, got their bookings, and took a commission off the top. When Mick and Keith started writing songs, they pushed Brian back. One cool Brian Jones story I remember was during the extreme cold Winter of 1962-63 in England. Mick, Keith and Brian shared a flat that had a coin operated machine for heat. Since their funds were limited, Brian would get guys to come up to the flat if they had money for the machine. They were welcome until they ran out of coin…and Brian kicked them out and recruited a replacement. Yes they were poor back then and had to decide to give up jobs and give this rock and roll thing a go !! And we are lucky they did !! Mick had a lot of great vocals on many Stones albums…my three are: “Beggars Banquet” with the lead track of “Sympathy For the Devil” changed the trajectory of the band significantly. They stopped messing around with psychedelic music and went back to hard blues rock. When Mick was writing Sympathy, he included a line about President Kennedy. In June of ‘68 RFK was killed and Mick changed the line to “Who killed the Kennedy’s”. Other tunes here were “No Expectations”, “Parachute Woman”, Street Fighting Man”, a bawdy “Stray Cat Blues”, “Prodigal Son” & “Salt of the Earth”. Beggars Banquet is perfect …and my favorite Rolling Stones record. “Let It Bleed” has the very dirty title track, “Gimme Shelter”, “Love In Vain”(Robert Johnson), the salacious “Midnight Rambler”, “Monkey Man” (which should have been an instrumental but nonetheless contains the line “Well, I hope we’re not too messianic, or a trifle too satanic …We love to play the blues”…), and “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”. And now we have the ultimate compliment to a singer…Mick’s tongue and lips become the symbol of the band on Sticky Fingers. Yes the album with the jeans zipper on the cover makes The Rolling Stones into an institution !!👅🫦👖 “Sticky Fingers” completes a brilliant trilogy of Stones albums with tunes like “Brown Sugar”, “Sway”(which features Mick on a very loud rhythm guitar since Keith didn’t play on the song.), “Wild Horses”, “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking”, “Bitch”, “Dead Flowers” & “Moonlight Mile” My favorite vocal performance is on “Shine A light” from “Exile on Main Street”. This song is piano driven with less instrumentation than on other Stones songs. Mick’s vocals dominate here and show his full range of singing talent. He really gets down to the soul and guts of this fine song !! I guess I can’t help rambling a bit. I love to write about the music that I love. And I put The Rolling Stones and The Beatles as the two greatest to ever do it. Even after all these years; it’s still true for me !! 🎸🎤 13. Mick Jagger 14. Rod Stewart 15. Patsy Cline 16. Eric Burdon 17. Jack Bruce 18. Jim Morrison (Jimi & Janis) 19. Ann Wilson 20. Steve Winwood 21. Pete Townshend 22. Ronnie Van Zant 23. Mark Farner 24 Robert Plant 25. Ronnie James Dio 26 Eric Clapton 27. John Fogerty 28. Frank Sinatra 29. Wilson Pickett 30. Linda Ronstadt 31. Leslie West
Great choice and write up Richard! And I agree with you 100% about the Beatles and the Stones. No band comes close to those guys for me either. For me personally the only other artist that comes close to them is Bob Dylan. And my favorite Stones album is Beggars Banquet too, but Exile on Main St. has been coming up fast the last couple of years. It's almost like the Stones' version of the White Album with a little bit of every kind of music on it.
@@steverogers2635Thanks Steve ! I agree completely about Bob Dylan. I think the stature of his incredible songwriting and influence outweighs any vocal limitations. My favorite of his are Highway 61 Revisited and Blonde on Blonde. And he sang great for my money back in ‘65-‘66 !!
Hi Pete. Great pick in Tommy Shaw. Here is my pick for day 13. Pick # 13 - Klaus Meine- Scorpions - 3 albums - Lovedrive- Blackout- Love At First Sting - Song - Holiday
Day 13 Kate Bush Along with David Bowie surely the most creative and innovative singer/songwriters we have known. Her first single Wuthering Heights which went to number 1in the UK charts certainly got people talking, she became the first female artist to achieve a UK number one with a solely self - written song. Her debut album The Kick Inside includes songs so masterful considering her very young age, an incredible achievement. Many more albums were to come, all demonstrating how much talent this wonderful artist possesses. Albums........ The Kick Inside 1978 Never For Ever 1980 Hounds Of Love 1985 Song Cloudbusting.
19. David Bowie David Bowie - Hunky Dory (1971) David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars (1972) David Bowie - ★ [Blackstar] (2016) Song: Cracked Actor It pains me to not have Aladdin Sane on the list, but I had to give the nod to Blackstar for being such a brave, bold, and haunting performance. Bowie might be a contentious pick for some because I do believe he is a love him or hate him vocalist. That being said I have always loved his vocals and many of his performances are deeply sentimental to me. 1. Stevie Ray Vaughan 2. Stevie Wonder 3. Peter Gabriel 4. Klaus Meine 5. Freddie Mercury 6. George Harrison 7. Derek Shulman 8. Grace Slick 9. Ronnie James Dio 10. Ann Willson 11. Paul McCartney 12. Elton John 13. Chris Cornell 14. Phil Collins 15. Robert Plant 16. Phil Lynott 17. Annie Haslam 18. Greg Lake 19. David Bowie
Thank you, Pete, for your pick. All the damn time. My Day 13 Pick: Tom Keifer/Cinderella 1. Night Songs 2. Long Cold Winter 3. Heartbreak Station Song: Heartbreak Station 🎤🎸🎵🎹🥁 Life is better with music
Good morning (afternoon, evening or night, clean-shaven Pete. Glad to see & hear you feeling better and another outstanding selection today. Personal pick today? For more personal reasons today than anything else, fellow hometown boy who became an American singer/songwriter/guitarist but who died almost 7 years ago - Thomas Earl "Tom" Petty. Tom was six years older than I was so never knew him personally except to know him when he worked at the local Lipham Music Store while i was taking my first piano lessons and hearing him play all around town as the leader of Mudcrutch before he and the lads left for the west coast to find fame as Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. Also part of The Traveling Wilburys with Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne & Roy Orbison. Tom's voice has been so much a part of life that he has to be on the personal list. Three albums for today? Now that's tough but going with the eponymous Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Debut (1976); the Heartbreakers fourth album Hard Promises {1981) and his first solo album Full Moon Fever (1989). The song? Even harder but going to have to go with the album closer for the Heartbreakers Debut - American Girl. Maybe not his best vocal performance since he did mature doing his time with us but the energy of Tom comes through here and the song sticks with me. Thanks, Pete. Looking forward to your next selection.
Vocalist number 2 is Don Henley. The albums are, The End of the Innocence, Building the Perfect Beast, and The Very Best of the Eagles. The 2 songs are The Boys of Summer and Life in the Fast Lane.
My pick for today is Paul Rodgers of Free and Bad Company. Video live version is: ruclips.net/video/7-VXzyzaGVc/видео.htmlsi=QNYUXPfBRJxcGpXF Bad Company from the debut album.
Tommy's got a great voice!! Also, glad you're getting better My #13: Going with a great singer from the Midwest who has a very distinctive, raspy voice and has a lot of soul when he sings!! He's been around since the 60s and was still going until just a few years ago. Talking about the wonderful Bob Seger. Albums: Night Moves, Stranger In Town, Against The Wind Songs: Good For Me
I'm taking another of my brief sojourns out of normal SOT coverage today by nominating a favourite British female singer who came to prominence in the 1960s even having a top rated Saturday evening TV show. I'm talking about Mary O'brien better known as DUSTY SPRINGFIELD. This lady had arguably the greatest British female voice of the post 50s era. She could sing the most dramatic and huge sounding ballads such as You Don't Have To Say You Love Me through to the gorgeous uptempo pop of I Only Want To Be With You to Motown infused songs like Stay Awhile or the glorious Little By Little. Her love of rnb and soul came through on some of her later 60s hits and she was one of the first to recognise the greatness of the Motown sound. Her voice could range from breathy and seductive as on the soundtrack version of The Look of Love from the silly 1960s version of Casino Royale (surely one of THE sexiest vocals ever) to powerful and strident as when she sung Mockingbird with Jimi Hendrix and her vocal was in no way drowned out by the great man's guitar pyrotechnics. Further on a rock level she was insistent that her record company, Atlantic should sign this dynamic new band she had heard, Led Zeppelin. Fave Dusty Albums Stay Awhile Dusty Dusty In Memphis Fave Vocal Son Of A Preacher Man 14 David Coverdale 15 Jimi Jamison 16 Danny Bowes 17 Glenn Hughes 18 Ann Wilson 19 Steve Perry 20 Mark Farner 21 Martha Reeves 22 Steve Overland 23 Stevie Wonder 24 Don Barnes 25 David Meniketti 26 Roger Daltrey 27 Derek St Holmes 28 Klaus Meine 29 Ronnie Van Zant 30 Pat Benatar 31 Jimmy Dewar
Fantastic choice. Yes, Dusty had it all. The best album Led Zep's John Paul Jones ever appeared on was Dusty's 'Definitely'! She is my favourite female vocalist of all time
@@jerryattwooll4864 Hi Jerry, well, we totally synced yesterday and at least today we've sort of gone down a similar path with a great female singer. Must confess that, as with a couple if your other choices, I'm only really familiar with her mist famous songs like Preacher Man and You Don't Have To... ETC, which is doubtless remiss of me. Must check out that Hendrix collaboration, it would be nice to hear him play with s decent singer!!! Also, didn't know she was partly responsible for Zeppelin joining Atlantic- you live & learn!
Hi Pete. Dave here. Glad to hear you're feeling better today. My pick today is DUSTY SPRINGFIELD. So many female big production pop singers emerged in the 60s, but Dusty has always been my favourite. With her clear, expressive voice, she is such a versatile singer, from folk (with her brother Tom in The Springfields) through pop to soul and electro (with the Pet Shop Boys). Albums: Dusty In Memphis - legendary sessions with US soul musicians. The Silver Collection - I've picked a greatest hits collection as so many of them didn't appear on regular albums. Reputation - this contains many of the songs she recorded wit The Pet Shop Boys, such as Nothing Has Been Proved. My favourite What Have I Done To Deserve This is on a PSB album. Song: so many to choose from, but I'm picking Just One Smile from Dusty In Memphis - a stunning Randy Newman cover.
I had another pick for my #19 favorite vocalist but decided to change it following the death of Jack Russell. I've always liked Jack Russell's voice. Ĥis ability to sing Led Zeppelin songs as well as Great White songs impressed me. Instead of listing albums I'm going to list 5 songs that I love. I do recommend the 2 disc Led Zeppelin cover album, Great White debut album & a Greatest Hits compilation. The songs for me are Rock Me, Save Your Love, Step On You, House Of Broken Love & Old Rose Motel.
#13. Gregg Allman. His easily identifiable soulful, bluesy voice helped make the Allman Brothers the kings of Southern Rock. Favorite albums: the Allman Brothers self-titled debut, Idlewild South, Brothers and Sisters. Favorite song: "Dreams." 31. Paul McCartney 30. David Pack 29. Steven Tyler 28. Karen Carpenter 27. Johnny Cash 26. Harry Chapin 25. Neil Diamond 24. Paul Simon 23. Tom Johnston 22. John Fogerty 21. Joni Mitchell 20. John Wetton 19. David Clayton-Thomas 18. Carl Wilson 17. Geddy Lee 16. Day 23. Marty Balin (Jefferson Airplane/Starship) - Volunteers, Red Octopus, Surrealistic Pillow - song: Volunteers Founder and co-lead singer of Jefferson Airplane, Marty Balin knew how to craft a pop song for the changing times. Lee Aaron 🇨🇦 1962 nicknamed (Metal Queen) is my 13th pick. One of the first female Metal vocalists from the early 80’s and still rocking now. My 3 favourite albums are: Metal Queen Call of the Wild Body Rock Best vocalist performance: Metal Queen & Peace on Earth (a cheat) love both these songs. Cheers, Mike L 😎🇨🇦✌🏼🤘🏼👍🏻
@@erorufurakku6378 Enjoy! She also dabbled in jazz in the early 2000’s. 2016-2024 she released 5 albums (hard rock). 15 total albums from Heavy Metal to hard rock.
# 13 Mick Jagger Another no-brainer, even for me being not the greatest Stones fan. Apart from another vocalist whom I shall mention at the end of this month Jagger is probably the most influential singer in this ranking although he himself already stands in the footsteps of many other great singers of the 50s and 60s. Best albums: Beggar’s Banquet, It’s Only Rock and Roll, Tattoo You Best song: Undercover of the Night (very underrated) # 14 Ian Gillan # 15 Annie Haslam # 16 John Fogerty # 17 Phil Mogg # 18 John Wetton # 19 Chris Thompson # 20 Michael Sadler # 21 Gary Brooker # 22 Bruce Dickinson # 23 Paul McCartney # 24 Ozzy Osbourne # 25 Donald Fagen # 26 Karen Carpenter # 27 Robert Plant # 28 Warren Zevon # 29 Sting # 30 Roger Hodgson # 31 Barry Hay

@@weirddebbiem1619 Great choice once again, Debbie. On balance, I slightly prefer Tommy Shaw’s vocals but Dennis is also a fine singer. I wonder if you will do the same as Pete and include both of them in your list? 🤔 You certainly have an interesting and diverse range of singers so far. I’m looking forward to seeing who else has made your list. Enjoy your evening.
My#13 pick is an English singer and songwriter. In 1980, after the death of Bon Scott, he became the third lead singer of the Australian rock band AC/DC. I'm talking about Brian Johnson Johnson was one of the founding members of the rock band Geordie formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1971. After a few hit singles, including UK Top 10 "All Because of You" (1973), the band split up in 1978. Following the death of Bon Scott on 19 February 1980, Johnson was asked to audition for AC/DC. AC/DC guitarists and founders Angus and Malcolm Young initially reached out to Brian remembering when Bon had been impressed with him after seeing him perform with Geordie. His first album with AC/DC, Back in Black, became the second-best-selling album of all time, according to most estimates. The Guardian ranked the successful transition to Johnson at No. 36 on their list of 50 key events in rock music history. Albums- Back in Black, For Those About To Rock, and The Razor's Edge Song- For Those About To Rock The song was later included on AC/DC's first soundtrack album, Who Made Who, released in 1986 for the Stephen King film Maximum Overdrive. The title and central lyric of the song are based on an ancient salute used by Roman prisoners to be executed in the Colosseum, "Ave, Caesar, morituri te salutant" ("Hail Caesar, those who are about to die salute you"). In February 2021, speaking to Zane Lowe on Essentials Radio on Apple Music 1, Angus Young revealed that the inspiration behind the song was British poet, novelist and classicist Robert Graves. Young explained to Lowe that the song's title was originally inspired by a twist on a line by Graves. "For Those About To Rock, it came out with Malcolm and myself, it was a combination," Young explained, revealing how he wrote "a little guitar thing" in the intro to the song, and Malcolm "had this little guitar chordal progression." "So the two of us worked on that and we came up with the verse idea of it," Young explained. "And the funny thing is, when we got to the chorus, we were going, "Okay, what are we going to sing on this?" And for me, I just thought, well, sometimes I go back [to] something I've read somewhere, and there was the writer Robert Graves, I believe his name was, I think he had a book out or a story he had put in one of the papers, because he did a lot of history stuff. And I had read it and it was, "For those about to die," and he went into a day in the Coliseum or somewhere in Rome at the time and the thing that the gladiators did. And I thought, "That might fit." So it was a case of, if I can come up with a way of singing something that can sing into it. I think at first Malcolm thought, "Wait. What is he on?" And I'm going, "Well, for those about to ..." And I got it in, I got it all in, "For those about the rock." So that kicked off that."[2] Angus Young later said that the inspiration for the cannons came from a very different source than the song.[3] The band was cutting the first recordings of the song on the same day as Princess Diana's televised wedding. Angus recalled that "someone had the wedding on in the next room ... we were playing that part of the song when the cannons were going off and we paused a second and went 'hmmm ... that actually sounds pretty good.'"[citation needed] This coincidence also led to a cannon being featured on the cover of the album and single, as well as life-sized Napoleonic cannons becoming a regular stage prop at AC/DC concerts. The cannons fired in the song are mixed with exploding fireworks. However the actual takes were recorded later the next month as the mobile truck used to record the album (Mobile One) was being used to record Peter Gabriel's 4th eponymous album during the marriage of Charles and Diana.
Todays pick is Jim Sohns of Shadows Of Knight favorite cds are Gloria. Backdoor Men and The Super K Kollection favorite song is Gloria with honorable mention going to Oh Yeah and. Shake
@@bengalgangster im kind of surprised. Because i thought on the strength of Gloria alone would have given them enough exposure outside the midwest. It always Happens That Way is another great song of theirs. Hopefully this Illinois band will get a chance to rock your ears. Enjoy
Super fantastic pick and CD selection Dennis. Sohns was a powerhouse, absolutely loved his vocals. This band does not get the recognition and accolades it deserves.

Hello Pete and everyone. Today’s choice is someone else that I have selected based on his greatest hits. He was hugely influential in the development of soul music, and is widely regarded as possessing one of the purest singing tones ever: 13. Sam Cooke Songs - You Send Me ; Only Sixteen ; Wonderful World ; Chain Gang ; Cupid ; Twistin’ The Night Away ; Bring It On Home To Me ; Another Saturday Night ; A Change Is Gonna Come. 14. Chrissie Hynde 15. Ronnie James Dio 16. Roy Orbison 17. Sharleen Spiteri 18. Kelly Jones 19. Jon Anderson 20. Pat Benatar 21. Michael Hutchence 22. Roger Daltrey 23. Dusty Springfield 24. Seal 25. Remember Eddie and the Cruisers? And the voice of Eddie Wilson? lol My pick for the day is John Cafferty of John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band. What a great and distinctive voice. The group had a bunch of excellent tunes in the 80s. No particular order, and while I love all these vocalists, the starred (**) names are my most favorite. A number of my favorites may lack a powerful voice, but they all have a unique sounding quality. I've posted a couple vocal track favorites of mine as well: 13. John Cafferty - John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band (On the Dark Side ; Just a Matter of Time) 14. Rob Halford - Judas Priest (Beyond the Realms of Death ; Victim of Changes) 15. David Coverdale - Deep Purple / Whitesnake (Mistreated / Standing in the Shadow) 16. Jack Russell - Great White (Rock Me ; House of Broken Love) 17. Bruce Dickinson - Iron Maiden (Hallowed Be Thy Name ; Revelations) 18. Elvis Presley (American Trilogy ; If I Can Dream) 19. Michael Kiske - Helloween / solo (Do I Remember a Life? / Giants) 20. Steve Perry - Journey (Stone in Love ; Still They Ride) 21. Tony Martin - Black Sabbath (Anno Mundi ; The Headless Cross) 22. Steve Marriott - Humble Pie / Small Faces (Desperation ; 30 Days in the Hole) 25. James Dewar - Robin Trower (Bridge of Sighs ; Twice Removed from Yesterday) 26. Paul Stanley - KISS (A Million to One ; Tonight You Belong to Me) 27. Paul Rodgers - Free / Bad Company (Bad Company ; Fire and Water) 28. Ronnie James Dio - Dio (Don't Talk to Strangers ; Holy Diver) 29. Pat Benatar (Hell is for Children ; Promises in the Dark) 30. Klaus Meine - Scorpions (We'll Burn the Sky ; Still Loving You) 31. Ian Anderson - Jethro Tull (Orion ; Heavy Horses)
13) John Lennon Favorite Albums: #1 John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band #2 The Beatles - The Beatles #3 John Lennon & Yoko Ono - Double Fantasy Favorite Performances: "Twist And Shout" (Please Please Me (UK)) (Beatles '65 (US)) "(Just Like) Starting Over" (Double Fantasy) John Lennon formed The Quarrymen as a teenager in Liverpool in the mid-'50s. The band evolved into The Beatles in 1960. John was the band's de facto leader, rhythm guitarist and vocalist, and the co-writer, with Paul McCartney of Rock and Pop-oriented hit songs in the band's early years, later incorporating experimental elements into his compositions in the latter half of The Beatles career as their work became known for its increasing innovation. John became a spokesman for the anti-war movement and the larger counterculture of the 1960s. In 1969 he married Yoko Ono, and left The Beatles to embark on a solo career, releasing albums of varying quality and success before stepping away from music in 1975. His 1980 comeback album, Double Fantasy, a collaboration with Yoko, would unfortunately be his final album. John's death in December of 1980 was a blow that I'm still not completely over. John was one of my first musical heroes, and I vividly remember the first time I heard his screaming take on The Isley Brothers "Twist And Shout" (One of the greatest Rock 'N' Roll vocal performances, plain and simple!). It's still my favorite of John's vocals with The Beatles. "(Just Like) Starting Over" was the first song I heard from Double Fantasy and for me it held so much promise of a new chapter in John's life. When I heard that he had plans to put together a band and tour, I couldn't have been more thrilled with the prospect of finally getting to see my childhood idol play live. Unfortunately that was not meant to be. John Lennon is remembered for many different things by many different people, but for me, he always has been and always will be, first and foremost, a kickass Rock 'N' Roll singer. 13) John Lennon 14) Paul McCartney 15) Jim Morrison 16) Dusty Springfield 17) Bruce Springsteen 18) Chris Cornell 19) Johnny Rivers 20) Ray Davies 21) Dion 22) Levon Helm 23) John Fogerty 24) Gram Parsons 25) Etta James 26) Janis Joplin 27) Grace Slick 28) Mitch Ryder 29) John Lydon 30) Lou Reed 31) Bryan Ferry
Excellent choice. His vocal performance on "Mother" will never not send chills down my spine, and the sandpaper fury he summons on "Twist and Shout" is definitely why a fun, early cover contends with songs such as "Here Comes the Sun" and "Let It Be" to be the most played Beatles track on Spotify.
Hi Chris, yes, shouldn't be surprised by this one after yesterday - can't have one without the other! I feel much the same about John as Paul, genius partnership in probably the most important band in popular music history, less so in isolation...
My picks are in no particular order. My pick #19 is Paul Stanley. Especially in the 80´s he was a marvellous singer. Tommy Shaw has been flying mostly under my radar. I know him, but I don´t even recall his voice when I try to imagine it. Blue Collar Man is an amazing song, but I thought that Dennis De Young was singing it.
My pick for today is Guy Chadwick (The House Of Love) Albums: 1) Self Titled or The Butterfly Album (1990) 2) Self Titled Debut (1988) 3) Babe Rainbow (1992) Track: Shine On
Sorry guys,Justin sings with the group blue October. I was so intent on what I was saying about him that I forgot to mention the band he fronted . He has also done some solo stuff.most of that is acoustic live.
Hi everyone, back to the start of another working week, hey ho... and we reach #13 on the list. It's probably safe to say we're now getting to the part of my list where there will be few surprises left as we get into what for me, is the creme de la creme of vocal talent from the past 40 or so years. My pick today has already been chosen by large swathes of us, so I probably won't be adding much to the praise already heaped on this lady, but one or two of my album choices may take a slight sidestep from the obvious - although "the obvious" are, of course, all still darn good slabs of folk-tinged Zeppelinesque rock & roll... Ann Wilson of HEART Along with sister Nancy's harmony and, occasionally, lead vocals, this lady is surely the doyenne of female rock singers. Few people could sing the whole of Led Zep IV live, with all 3 surviving members of that band watching, and pull it off but she does - you can watch it on YT if you don't believe me... and that's without even mentioning her own band's amazing catalogue and her solo outings... So, my picks are... 1. Little Queen - HEART 2. Passionworks - HEART 3. Fierce Bliss - ANN WILSON solo Highlighted Performance: "If Looks Could Kill" from Heart (1985) As to my HM, this lady is someone who fronts a band I've mentioned in the past that in many ways makes them the British HEART, although sadly without ever quite hitting their commercial heights. She has been called The best female rock singer since Janis Joplin by no less a person than Roger Daltrey... Nikki Lambourn of NEVER THE BRIDE Selected album: "License to Bitch" (backed by the likes of Bob Kulick, Kenny Aaronoff, the Lennon Brothers (VENICE) et al... Selected track: "The Living Tree" from the album Surprise (2002) - this was also a hit fir Dame Shirley Bassey in 2007...
Tremendous pick Iain! Heart is really special to me, got all their albums, and Ann is incredible, in my top five female vocalist. I love Nancy's sweet voice too...
Hey Iain. Fantastic write-up and pick with Ann Wilson. I'm not familiar with Nikki Lambourn, so it looks like I've got some homework ahead of me. Cheers!
@@christophercoles4401Thanks Chris, hope you like what you hear. Knowing your tastes I suspect my choice of album might not be your ideal first port of call - maybe Surprise would be my tip for you, or In Concert At The Stables Theatre from 2012 which has a good mix of their best early material and a smattering of great cover versions...
My favorite singer is Justin firsingfeld don’t know if I am spelling his name right, but there it is. He doesn’t have the sweetest voice, but his delivery is flawless. He sings with so much emotion . Favorite albums, 1 consent to treatment, 2, foiled,3, approaching normal. Best vocal is Italian radio. One more point, you could see his progress from crazy to at least a little bit happy to well.

Ann Wilson is the only person I think could credibly take Robert Plant's place in Led Zeppelin. What's incredible is her voice is still in fantastic shape. I saw them live about ten years ago, and she sounded amazing, and I heard she still does. "Crazy on You."

13. Mick Jagger
The greatest frontman in the history of Rock…just keeps rolling along.
Mick had a lot of great vocals on many Stones albums…my three are:
“Beggars Banquet” with the lead track of “Sympathy For the Devil” changed the trajectory of the band significantly.
Yes the album with the jeans zipper on the cover makes The Rolling Stones into an institution !!👅🫦👖
“Sticky Fingers” completes a brilliant trilogy of Stones albums with tunes like “Brown Sugar”, “Sway”(which features Mick on a very loud rhythm guitar since Keith didn’t play on the song.), “Wild Horses”, “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking”, “Bitch”, “Dead Flowers” & “Moonlight Mile”
My favorite vocal performance is on “Shine A light” from “Exile on Main Street”.

Life is better with music

My#13 pick is an English singer and songwriter. In 1980, after the death of Bon Scott, he became the third lead singer of the Australian rock band AC/DC. I'm talking about Brian Johnson
Johnson was one of the founding members of the rock band Geordie formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1971.
Albums- Back in Black, For Those About To Rock, and The Razor's Edge
Song- For Those About To Rock
The song was later included on AC/DC's first soundtrack album, Who Made Who, released in 1986 for the Stephen King film Maximum Overdrive.
What is he on?" And I'm going, "Well, for those about to ..." And I got it in, I got it all in, "For those about the rock." So that kicked off that."[2]
Angus Young later said that the inspiration for the cannons came from a very different source than the song.[3] The band was cutting the first recordings of the song on the same day as Princess Diana's televised wedding.

DAY 13-JUSTIN HAYWARD-Moody Blues. Hi friends well Justin with his voice and the other good voices and talents of The Moody Blues and Justin the main voice. The 3 albums is tough love the first 7-8. Well but go with Days Of Future Passed , To Our Childrens Childrens Children and A Question Of Balance. So to performance songs yea he is one with 2 I would pick from 4 today so cheat as well play back to back.
The 4 of songs Gypsy a fave song off Childrens an HM and Tuesday Afternoon of Days of Future Passed HM so will use two with Nights In White Satin off Days Of Future Passed and Question off A Question Of Balance, Those two so close to the great voice of Justin so and both songs are iconic as well and well known.
Would love even singing along myself. Great ones. Justin done some other work at times with Blue Jays project of his and a solo album or two. So there you have it. Great pick Pete of Tommy Shaw. Keep getting better. Me to do same as well. And so Take care friends and hugs. Enjoy the music. 🎶🎶🎤🤗

13) John Lennon
Favorite Albums:
#1 John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band
#2 The Beatles - The Beatles
#3 John Lennon & Yoko Ono - Double Fantasy
Favorite Performances:
"Twist And Shout" (Please Please Me (UK)) (Beatles '65 (US))
"(Just Like) Starting Over" (Double Fantasy)
John Lennon formed The Quarrymen as a teenager in Liverpool in the mid-'50s.
13) John Lennon
14) Paul McCartney
15) Jim Morrison
16) Dusty Springfield
17) Bruce Springsteen
18) Chris Cornell
19) Johnny Rivers
20) Ray Davies

24) Gram Parsons
25) Etta James
26) Janis Joplin
27) Grace Slick
28) Mitch Ryder
29) John Lydon
30) Lou Reed
31) Bryan Ferry
Excellent choice. His vocal performance on "Mother" will never not send chills down my spine, and the sandpaper fury he summons on "Twist and Shout" is definitely why a fun, early cover contends with songs such as "Here Comes the Sun" and "Let It Be" to be the most played Beatles track on Spotify.
Hi Chris, yes, shouldn't be surprised by this one after yesterday - can't have one without the other! I feel much the same about John as Paul, genius partnership in probably the most important band in popular music history, less so in isolation...

Time for me to Fly
Riding the Storm Out
Don't let Him Go
Hi everyone, back to the start of another working week, hey ho... and we reach #13 on the list.
Ann Wilson of HEART
Along with sister Nancy's harmony and, occasionally, lead vocals, this lady is surely the doyenne of female rock singers. Few people could sing the whole of Led Zep IV live, with all 3 surviving members of that band watching, and pull it off but she does - you can watch it on YT if you don't believe me... and that's without even mentioning her own band's amazing catalogue and her solo outings... So, my picks are...
1. Little Queen - HEART
2. Passionworks - HEART
3. Fierce Bliss - ANN WILSON solo
Highlighted Performance:
"If Looks Could Kill" from Heart (1985)
As to my HM, this lady is someone who fronts a band I've mentioned in the past that in many ways makes them the British HEART, although sadly without ever quite hitting their commercial heights. She has been called The best female rock singer since Janis Joplin by no less a person than Roger Daltrey...
Nikki Lambourn of NEVER THE BRIDE
Selected album: "License to Bitch" (backed by the likes of Bob Kulick, Kenny Aaronoff, the Lennon Brothers (VENICE) et al...
Selected track: "The Living Tree" from the album Surprise (2002) - this was also a hit fir Dame Shirley Bassey in 2007...
@@iainhead9898 hi Iain. Marvelous picks for Ann Wilson and article. Not familiar with your second picks
