  • As so many people had questions and I enjoyed making the previous video, I have tried to answer some questions and show other ways that I used these versatile art supplies. I hope you enjoy the video.

Thank you for sharing how NOT to achieve the desired effects.. and how you realized what it really needed to work properly. Most people would not do that.. I have some of the Neo Color II's as well as the Tim Holtz Distress water color pencils and have been playing with them too. I love the strong pigments you get with this type of medium. AND in watching you I realized I have the palette board you have and that helped me solve how to actually use them better as water color ...

I am really pleased that the video was helpful for you. I have actually been coloring that spring mandala in the Amazon paper, using the caran dache board, neocolos and then some of the smaller areas I’ve used watercolor pencils and it’s been fun. Thanks for watching and commenting, much appreciated 🌸🥰

Just wanted to let you know if you find yourself using it like watercolor a lot, you might want to pan a small part of the back of the the neocolor 2.
Since the neocolor 2's are so pigmented and the consistency isn't really like anything else.
It's more opaque and creamy than watercolor but pans like watercolor and of course you can make thin watercolor like washes. It's like the perfect mix of the two, but it really just depends on how you paint.
I've seen several artists do it after Sophie Mcpike who uses hers all the time. 😂
I've seen her use them more than watercolors or gouache. It's just such a perfect consistency.
If you aren't sure you can use a color you don't like to try or you could do what a lot of artists do and just save the shavings of each color in little empty cheap eyeshadow pallete. It will obviously take a long time to build it up but at least you aren't wasting them.
I used my least favorite orange to try it out first but after all the videos of watching Sophia paint with them I was already sold. 😂
Her main watercolor palette you see her using most of the time is usually the neocolors.
Sometimes I just don't want to deal with gouache especially traveling but need a little more opaque then watercolor and this fits in between perfectly.

@@spktme Thanks so much for sharing this info with me. I have not heard of Sophie Mcpike, but will look up her youtube channel asap. I have seen some others use the sharpenings in a pan and had thought to give it a try. I will record my adventures when I do try it out and share them here. Thanks so much for the suggestion. I try gouache occasionally but so far am not really a fan, I much prefer watercolor, but if this can work with the re wettable niceness (is that even english lol, but hopefully you know what I mean), then, as you say it sounds like a really great solution.

Hi, Liz Thank you for this. So far I have only used my neocolors on book pages with a water brush. It was helpful to see the other papers and brushes. Nancy

Hi there, yes I am. Caran d’ache makes 2 different neocolor pastels, the plain neocolor aren’t water soluble, but neocolor 2’s are water soluble. These are the small set I f the water soluble ones:

Hi Liz - just checking - do you know that you can clear gesso any paper and it will make it so the water/color doesn’t soak thru?

Hi Lizann, thanks, yes I do, I have one or two videos on my channel where i use that method, but have not shown it with Neocolors 2’s as yet. I suspect it’s time that I do another video on the subject, as the ones I have done were more than a year ago now. Thanks for watching and taking the time and trouble of commenting, it means so much to me.
