Breville Toaster Lever ~How to Remove it

Greetings! I was able to rescue a Breville toaster (Model Number: BTA720XL). The problem is that the lever does not latch down. I found your video on youtube • Fix A Faulty Toaster L... which is wonderful, however I'm having trouble removing the lever. Do I just yank it with more force? RUDE Boy seemed to have removed it so quickly. I'm really struggling to get it off. If you receive this message, I would love some insight. PS. The device was filled with crumbs and raisins!
