Great episode. I grew up with what are called "Hillbillies." I am Latino, 66 now. Our family shared gasoline, a campfire, frijoles and pancakes just outside of Indio, California, 1963. We all were pickers, Brown, White, Japanese. I remember a man with a banjo, there in the Coachella Valley. There was a woman similar to Granma in this episode. She was from Coosa Valley. Blue eyes, wire thin, tough as a wolf. But she treated me fair, gentle, even though I was Brown. This episode brought up good memories, a long time ago...
The moral of the story: hate and the desire for revenge bring only sorrow and hardship. Understanding and forgiveness bring peace and the opportunity for prosperity. This lesson and others like it need to be taught over and over again, large scale and small, nations, families and political parties alike. Bonanza was great at this kind of lesson, and without being preachy about it. Excuse me, but I'm getting choked up here.
It wasn’t seeing the inside of the house, and it wasn’t her getting over losing her sons, it was finally being welcomed and accepted into a community by a good, affluent family, and also, accepting the killings of her boys having been done in self defense by a good man that would rather not have had to kill. These people having little understanding of the laws, only seen them as being against “their kind” , suffering murders and killings of their kin, and being run out. Ben showed her that there are good, decent, caring people.. and that’s what she was happy about.
She didn't want to lose another son and they looked after her granddaughter very well and her 2 son's says little joe killed there older brother in defense and they don't lie to her ever.
Yep. I'm watching on my phone in McDonald's. I laughed out loud at that left hook to the jaw. Hilarious. As a little boy, I never imagined that we'd really have devices like the Jetsons or a tri-quarter hand hold that does stuff, like Star trek. I love America so much!!! I'm black. I voted Trump in 2016. He made me quit the party in 2018. The GOP use to stand for good stuff, no, GREAT stuff. Dems started by Klansmen, Southern Whites. GOP must separate themselves from the con artist. Return to liberty and justice for all. I love America. Liberty and justice for all persons. Preach that. Martin Luther King, and most blacks were GOP in August, 1963, I have a Dream Speech, in DC. Party lines switched when President Johnson of Texas signed Civil Rights bill. It's was a watered down version than the GOP tried to previously get passed. In 2022, thanks to the internet, we all have access to tons of information, teachers didn't teach on. I loved Bonanza, the Big Valley, Little House, all that. Many of us Americans still do, black and white. Issue is, we got a lot of other people now in America, who didn't grow up here, and their mostly into their own culture, not our American culture. By necessity, we must find a way for all of us to live here peaceably. Who wants war? Not me. And I trust, not you. Thats it. I love America. Me, my brother, my sister literally kissed the ground, when disembarked the plane at McGuire AFB, after coming back from 5 years in Germany. We were Air Force Brats. Heck, we watched Bonanza while living in Base Housing in Massachusetts. I love America. That's it.
@@kevc21 People love it so much they gave their freedom away over fear brought on by lies! Now the NWO is almost here all the way! No rights, no fair treatment, no freedom! Partly because of fear , lies, and the distractions of technology!
A right noce episode, right up there among the best. Unforgettable characters. Dody n Jeb were right creepy and needed killing. Granma a real find. Sense of honour too. Lovely actress who played Willow, Anita Sands. Bonanza sure turns up beauties each episode. Great entertainment, thanks again Grjngo. My house is yours, you're welcome anytime.
Maybe, only maybe, she somehow saw that she brought it upon them raising them with those beliefs she worded several times. Those other boys knew her son and saw what he did and that little Joe had no chance and acted in self defense. So they saw it was not true her teachings. Not with the Cartwrights anyways
No+ Who in their right mind? would claim someone else property I guess the out-of-touch hillbillies from the mountain, I guess these people though what ever they set their eyes on belong to them, well Little Joe, set them straight ponderosa save again, by fiery Cartwright, son Little Joe. However, I just love this old episode grew up watching bonanza well back to one of my favorite episode Gwendolyn Pittman- Tharpe,
Quit bellyaching about what you don’t like and enjoy the many seasons Bonanza continued after Pernell left for his reasons. Look what he missed out on for money making long season run.
Great episode. The girl was an untamed hellcat but attention, kindness, and caring turned her in a new direction.granny was a lion tamer in her former life😂 once again, good triumphs over evil.
This woman that played Grama , did a good job of acting . I saw a pic of a woman from Brasil once . She was Matron of her Family for real . WOW, for the first time I saw a horse with nice movements like a dressage horse in America (T - T - T) and not this TTTT like a sewing machine. Americans still have no idea about the beauty and grace of dressage horses like European countries have.
Little Joe & the rest of The Cartwright Family are finding out how to defend their kingdom alongside with thier 4 👑 Queens of The Pondersa Ranch.( Alia Mohammed, Sadie Marquardt, Cassandra Fox & Isabella Sampourni.)
Interesting how ego stubbornness is yet malleable, and transformative, mother Hoad was brought up in an obsolete environment in the rural frontier of Kentucky. She had no choice but to carry that obsolete construct to the new and progressive west, and,Nevada is definitely more west than Kentucky. One attracts more understanding with honey than with vinegar. I love it when she asked Ben to show her his face however when her actor son's acted on their own, with that same construct death found them because they didn't have the same arrogance as mother did. And her own know yet unknown understanding came forth when it came to knowing her kin didn't tell lies. And her language changed rapidly at the Ponderosa, notice that?
Adam has a different room on this episode compare to the episode Elizabeth my love. On that ep his room and bed looked bigger on this one the room and bed look smaller
Oh that's hilarious! The bathtub scene. Great acting! Lmao

I like " Bonanza ". It has many very good movies that I like watching. It's old school, but I like them.
Thanks!
I can imagine Grandma Holt and Granny from the Beverly Hillbillies in a kitchen together arguing while cookin’ up some eatin viddles.
Little joe is a legend
This episode is one of my favorite I am sorry that there aren't more man by Ben Cartwright around he was a good man and this was a good series
Crazy father and daughter little Joe always my hero
Uip
WOW - that Spitfire is somethingelse!
Yeah, a pig 🐷
Jack Elam. Evil personified! Good episode.
He was a distant relation of my mother.
Jack was a brilliant actor.
My father called him, “double ugly”, every time he was on TV.
Joe's doing the girl's hair is just the funniest scene. 🤣
That old lady must be related to Granny from the Beverly Hillbilly lol Imagine both of those two granny's roaming around Californieee. lol
Beverly granny is much softer.
It's a shame people are not like this now days .. old days need to come back.
She got over the killing of her sons real quick when she saw the inside of the Cartwright's house! :)
lol
That's so true I sure had a good laugh after reading that comment

My name is Katherine Warren & was told this actresses name is too. So as I watched Bonanza growing up, it's a treat!
The ending was a bit rushed.
the Shows always seems rush at the end

The shots of inside the house at the end were bloopers for sure. Two different views from same angle. One of fireplace one of a wall and a chair.
Mother Hoad is a tough old woman. She looks like the tough old lady that played in The Rifleman.
Lovely❤❤❤👍 👌👌✌😁🥰😍😘
I feel bad for the old lady for losing two sons, but glad it turned out the way it did :)
Both sons brought it on themselves

Hoss treating her like a horse 🐎 😂

In the opening scene, they could've picked an older man to play her father. He looked like he was only 5 or 10 years older than the young woman.

I don't know who the actress playing the girl is but she did an amazing job.
She was real pretty. Too pretty to even be related to that family her mother was probably a mistress Jeb met a while ago.
Don't know why the girl mad it was self defense he could have killed her too coming at him with ax

This es "Bonanza" not unsolved murders or cold cases Kevin.

Continuity is always a problem on long-running shows. A good example is the portrait of the Indian that seems to hang on every wall.
OR Adam decided to change rooms. It's like not they couldn't have multiple rooms to use in that giant house.
