I totally agree about Eisner. He was an artistic genius. Always an interesting story and never a bad camera angle.

He's got great angles is right, Erik. These DC complete volumes are beautiful! s

"Warm, soft and vintage" Isn't that me? Thanks, this new laptop does seem to film things a bit better. Stay safe. s

    Everyone talks about Watchmen.
But, for my money From Hell is Moore's best book and deserves equal acclaim.

Promethea, Swamp Thing and Marvelman are the best, IMO. But, From Hell is probably his opus. Very sad he never got to finish Big Numbers, though. That would have been his Ulysses...

Yeah he wasn't in my generation of comic reading but retrospectively I liked the Swamp Thing and even Superman runs he did... s

I'm envious Scott. I'd love to have those hardcover Spirit editions. What I do have are Wally Woods Thunder Agents in Hardcover-Dynamo, Noman, etc. Also, I recently downloaded the 1950s Captain America Commie Smasher issues into my Kindle. I don't have to be afraid about tearing delicate pages.

They aren't too hard to find second hand, Michael, you can pick them up on eBay... Wally Wood did lots of early work on THE SPIRIT, as did Jules Feiffer!!! P.S. I hate Commies. s

Hey Scott I was thinking of your channel while was reading return to romance by Ogden Whitney that came out relatively recently. It seems like something you'd talk about.

Thanks for thinking of us, Croink. Don't know about Whitney at all, and can hardly keep up with what I do know about. Do you like? s

@@Scottmbradfield yes I really enjoyed it! And they felt a lot of what makes for an enjoyable story and I figured I'd mention it seeing as how you're talking comics. Many thanks for introducing me to Avram Davidson by the way!

@@croinkix Sounds interesting... I read few new comics, just indulge in nostalgic comic reading mainly but will keep in mind...

When I saw the words "Watchman - NAY!" I flinched. I always liked both comics. After two readings, I figured Alan Moore was poking fun at super hero comic books, like he did previously. The problem with Watchman is that the story lines are too dense, which kills the reading pleasure.
Eisner was introduced to me by A Contract with God, which were a lot more sober and personal. So the humor of The Spirit shocked me some. As artists, I give a slight edge to Eisner.

Yeah we gotta have a little flinching in the bathtub or it starts feeling too lukewarm... I like many Moore comics I've read since reading Watchmen, but then I've sort of been catching up on Comixology over the years... stay safe. s

Great series. Just caught up with you on brautigan's confederate general from big sur, and it was a blast.
What do you think about sam delaney's stuff, generally? I'm not sure you'd find it bathtub-grade, but it is pretty interesting.

Thanks, Quentin, yeah I like Delaney, though it's been a while since I took him into the bathtub, and don't know his mid to late stuff at all... I even knew Chip a bit fifty years ago... I've got his books all over the place so will try to get there eventually... s

They're beautiful books, I have picked up several on EBay from around 25 to 35 bucks each, usually new and still sealed in plastic...
