VGU usually updates the gameplay aswell. Honestly, neither Viktor nor Orianna feel like their kit could use more. We could argue that they aren't that popular, especially Viktor, but they still have pretty solid kits. I personally love Viktor's kit a lot, so it would be a shame if something got completely changed. An ASU is more than enough for him, especially since there are some other champs from Arcane who could use a gameplay and visual update (Singed for example). Even if he is the one getting the VGU, I really hope they will only touch the W and the ult
As a long time Viktor main, I am both excited and terrified for this rework. As much as I love Arcane Viktor, I fear that the rework will erase a core part of classic Viktor's identity. If they keep his robotic design and add a void like flair to it, I think it will be peak. I also hope they don't revert to the hexcore item because it was way harder to build items with one of my inventory slots permanently in use.
I actually miss the hexcore item. Yeah, it made builds awkward at times, but it was fun and unique. At the very least, it was way more fun to upgrade the item and your abilities than just kill x things.
One thing I'm afraid of with Viktor's VGU being involved with the void is that he might end up having too much overlap with what Malzahar already has, just with a robotic twist. Malzahar only has like one thing to him 😔

Im kind of afraid that Riot is just going to do the Viktor rework because he was very popular in the show, not because they *actually* want to fit him in the lore. Over half of the PnZ champions and their LoR counterparts are not canon, and we *know* Riot won't change them. That's specially true cuz whatever they do to him in S2, his design is not going to be made to fit League in its Top-Down perspective, so it'll be the same thats happening with Ambessa Medarda: a very cool design (for a character that i am very much hyped to get)... that simply doesn't fit the game because it wasn't made to, it was made to be appreciated on the animated series perspective.

Hey um 9:00, LOR got an entire PVE mode with choices and narratives that told the stories relating to (The now no longer cannon versions of) Ekko, Jace, Jinx, and VI. That PVE mode would go on to become the Path of Champions, LOR's biggest splash and currently the only thing the team is investing resources into, because it was that good. It all started with this Arcane inspired game mode, and now were getting POC exclusive champions in the next patch... First of ten END OF MEN
Legendary Viktor Skin still isn't revealed or hinted at, meaning that I am pretty sure the Legendary will pretty much be his release 2.0 skin. A gamble by riot that people will love what they get in Arcane and want to play it in that vision. Like the VGU will be him with his new version of augmentation while the legendary will be a full on shimmer/hex/the arcane corrupted "what if he succeeded in the series" version of him.
I'm pretty certain that the VGU is going to be for Viktor, and I think the biggest reason why is just because they've been hiding him in all of the promotional material for S2. Why would they avoid showing one of their breakout characters to promote the show if merely showing what he looks like in S2 will spoil things? If he wasn't getting a VGU, then they'd just be hiding him to avoid showing that he becomes what he looks llke in League, but League players already know what he looks like. It'd be keeping a secret that everyone knows. The only reason I think that they'd be keeping his design a secret is because significant to more than just the show. I also think that Viktor really could use a VGU for his gameplay as well. I play Viktor sometimes, and let's be real, his gameplay isn't all that special. Sure he's got some cool stuff, namely his evolving passive and his E laser, but that's pretty much it in terms of gameplay identity. Everything else is pretty meh. His Q? He throws a boomerang at people, a weird choice for him. His W? It's a unique AoE stun, but way too clunky to work on anyone with good mobility. His ult? Good damage and low cooldown, but why is a guy who's whole identity is machines summoning a big cloud to zap people? There's a lot more interesting directions to take Viktor, so I'd welcome an overhaul to his kit to really sell him as the "Master of Machines" that he's supposed to be.
Except in the original lore, fully augmenting people into machine was illegal. That is why camile's heart implant was (supposed to be) done by foreign doctor in secret, and lots of risky, "unethical" but life saving surgeries are banned in piltover and people seek help in radical scientists with no rules in Zaun, like Victor. Piltover - Zaun story used to have sci-fi themed moral arguments we can also apply in modern society. That was their thing, and class division and hypocrasy was more of Demacian story.

Yeah, he got more screen time and good scenes, he is a good character within the show, but the ideia of changing the "tin man" aesthetics for void (what we know never end well) is just so weaker to me, another void lunatic, where we know it will end baddly and making his goals and intentions less then what they were as mechanical enhancement Void madness and enhancing is so less impactful than his original "revolution" in any way. It's hard not beliving it will be him, and I will miss the old Viktor

Singed rework/redesign has always been a bit of a touchy topic since like Nickey said its 2 polar opposite designs. One way I believe they could update singed while keeping the playstyle is kind of capturing a moment for singed i believe specifically a raid on his lab. Rework could be the moment of the escape, singed frantically using all his research to escape. The poison trail is the materials leaking from the rush, the adhesive being some bottle to incapacitate guards, and the fling / ult being him using the chemical to strengthen his body given how weak he typically is. As for the shield you could even keep that since he has a large metal door in a similar shape leading into his lab that he could tear off and hold as protection in place of the shield

And when you have more people playing a champion, you get more skins for them. Of course, it could just be Orianna and Riot had us fooled.
