I do want to start off by saying GODDAMN DUDE COOKED AGAIN, the theme, the skins - especially the draugr inspired Frozen terror Noc is just superb This a champion I've long hoped to get a major overhaul so If I may I would like to give my own personal take on where I would have taken Nocturne Lore Wise specifically and you can lemme know what you think since your version seems to be sticking closer to Ionia aesthetically: To me the similarities in Nocturne's design and the corrupted Master Kusho from the Zed comic as well as the uncanny (probably unintentional) Shockblade zed/Nocturne splash art overlap made me think literally turning Nocturne into Master Kusho would be a really fun direction for him. Yone came back from the dead after defeating his manifested inner demons/Azakana, so in my mind it would be cool if Kusho pretty much did the reverse; overdosing on the shadow magic and subjugating/controlling his inner demons to become something else - a new demon, the epicentre of the Azakana if you will. I cannot help but find the commonality between the Azakana's nature prey on individuals hyper specific fears and those same hyper specific fears we experience in our dreams, that and nearly all of the last line of dialogue we get from Kusho in the comic is preying on Zed's fear of abandonment and identity. I like to think Master Kusho turning into Nocturne is the sole reason why there is an Azakana epidemic in Ionia specifically. Yes they have dealt with much trauma, but so has literally every other region. To me it would allow nocturne to hone in on his own identity, give him ties to specific champions, have an actual impact in the lore, and fully separate him from fiddlesticks as since the rework it's been joked non stop how Nocturne has essentially become his bootleg. In this way he would ironically still be that though - a human turned demon - an imposter in the hierarchy, poetic since Kusho cheated to power much of his last few years in life with said shadow magic.
Yeah and making a Final Boss not only for Yone but for Ionia inself with Zed Karma etc Would make another good event like the Invasion of Viego but with Nocturne 😂
First of all thank you so much for the support Nicky! It really means a ton! Now to the nitty and gritty: back when I read the zed comics I definitely thought the same, additionally the general connection to the shadow magic in his bio, this can not be a coincidence (even though it just might be :D) Either way, master Kushiro certainly has to play a key part, even though Zed defeats him this defeated form could allow Nocturne to overthrow his spirit. And what happens with all the liquid shadow once he was gone? The shadow magic is tied to nocturne - that way Kusho is already in his grasps. Now the key part in my opinion is how to merge them, is Master Kusho a vessel? Did they merge? Did they become something new? How smart is nocturne? He has to be distinguished from Nilah and Swain - more than a tool. But maybe there is room for a demon who has overtaken a man, this would create a bridge between the full demons and Fiddlesticks/ Evelynn’s, but than again distinguish hin enough from the Darkin. But here also lies the biggest risk. Nocturne this twister of dreams, the twist in the psyche, the stupid tinnitus that drives you crazy, the feeling of someone watching out of your rooms corner. I like that about him and don’t want him to loose it. To come to a conclusion, I think it would long term improve this character, Skyen said once Nocs big problem is that is only good when he discovers the truth at the bottom of other champions. And of course this is absolutely true, the Kusho route would create someone who has agency, nocturnes power is still not fully available because he is trapped in the spirit realm and adding to your theory, the more intelligent mind of Kusho could try to find a solution for this! Now that made me very curious - I’m a bit scared that he gets overtaken by Kushos character and humanized but if done right this could be Ionians end boss, from first vanguard to greatest threat. Nerding out with nickyboi was not on my bucket list today but it certainly made my day!
I've always loved the idea that Fiddlesticks is a predator - an ambush predator specifically, he wants to taunt you, terrorize you, lure you out and rip you to pieces when you're at your most terrified. Nocturne is a parasite. He wants to latch onto you, dig into your psyche, and never let you sleep again, until he's done sucking the nightmares from your skull. This could be that Nocturne, absolutely. And oh god, the MUSIC. I'm adding it on Spotify right away!
The theme song gives this paranoic sensation with the constant whispers and the in crecendo violins. Literal chills imagining escaping from him in a nightmare. 🥶

Nocturne's W feels like a good opportunity to play with the idea of someone trying to fight back against their nightmare but not being able to actually hurt it and the fear that come with feeling weaker than you thought you were. Nocturne could turn incorporeal so that nothing can hurt him for a short period of time (1 second maybe). If an enemy champion were to attack Nocturne in this state, Nocturne inflicks weaken debuff (enemies do less damage to you and allies) to the enemy to emulate the feeling of powerlessness people have when having a nightmare. That feeling of not being able to run as fast as you think you should or hit as hard as you know you should. Great job on the Nocturne rework!

"Nothing can hurt" / Invulnable is broken, Unstopable is broken, Spellshield is lame, and we're playing Champions vs Champions here, not vs random minion, so it should be like: For a sec or more, he gets dmg reduction, self disarmed, and a spell-thornmail "weaken" deflect. I think that's enough. It's an OP defense nontheless. The best you could do is CC him but your carries shouldn't hit him at all.
The design is definitely an upgrade, but I feel like the kit still needs a bit more, otherwise he would end up like Skarner, and become forgotten again after a few months

This rework really fits in the lore. Specifically after Lux banished Nocturne in the shadow realm and the Zed comics where Kusho got shadow magic (it can be nocturne in a weakened state). This is just a speculation

You guys killed it with this redesign and really captured the identity of what Nocturne represents and brought him into modern form. Its videos like this and NickyBoi's Cassiopeia redesign that I kinda wish Riot would focus more on older champs and revamp them. A lot of good stuff is being shown here and just think about the possibilities for champs like Shaco and Cho'Gath getting a new look. Keep up the amazing work 🔥

As someone who is studying to be an artist, it’s always sad to see previous designs go, but you being able to take over four different previous looks is so amazing. Incredible work Ever since riot released Aurelion Sol, I’ve been saying they need to update Nocturn’s whispy little tail. Also this concept for his passive is legit 10/10 (even if it’s a little lack luster for laning Noct)
i think his w should be a mix of smolder e and senna e, but for just himself. an intangible cloud of smog and darkness, able to avoid attacks and reposition, it could even have synergy with his passive. extending the range of FOW before hes actually visible.
Here is an idea for his W. “Fears made flesh” Nocturne gains damage reduction for a short duration. During this time any attacks that hit him cause a spectral duplicate of himself to spawn and dash at the attacker, hitting for a percentage of Nocturne’s auto attack and applying a stacking slow. This would help him chase down ranged champs and give him survivability for both lethality and bruiser builds.
You cooked with the design. As for the W I would keep it a spell shield but add an extra effect for Nocturne where if he leaves the fog made from Q or disengages from the e theater it leaves a shadow clone and make nocturne camouflaged for a brief period of time. The clone is stationary in place and does nothing. It's not perfect but adds a little extra to not make the spell shield not as boring. Also for the lore I would add that he follows his victim out of their dreams and leaves the victim with sleep paralysis where they die quietly. Maybe with short story featuring Shen, Zed, and Yone investigating Azakana haunting tired soldiers who refuse to sleep suffering from PTSD. They manage to get a solider to sleep only for them to die with their eyes open with no visual cause of death. I'm not writer but I think adding sleep paralysis would be cool.

I'm very pleased that you leaned into Nocturne's connection with shadow magic and Ionia, something I was disappointed wasn't explored in LoR but instead they shoved him in Shadow Isles. That said, the final design doesn't appeal to me, it feels like the design is trying too hard to be scary as if in an attempt to match up to Fiddlesticks.
Really love this interpretation! I hope Riot nails his rework when they eventually get to it, their lastest VGUs have been at best uninteresting and at worst make me wish for a revert (Skarner)
W - Veil of Sleepless Night, Nocturn spreads his shadows around himself, making him camouflaged, any opponent who enters him briefly receives near sight. So ability for 1v1 opponents, others who aren't in him cant see him and those who are in him cant see others.
I said camouflaged, but I meant more like Gwen's shroud but moves with him, and it doesn't make him untargetable, so skill shots still can hit him but makes HIM invisible but not the surrounding shadows, and only when you went into the shadows you can like AA him etc. but then you can't see around you. When I'm writing this, I just realized it is very similar to Senna but not the same, and fits the character well I think.
Senna E but only for you but enemies that enter the ring becomes near sighted to everything outside is genius. It fits nocturne perfectly and it adds a near sight effect to his basic abilties which I think is a good idea, because it really emphasizes Nocturne has THE near sight champion that creeps, haunts and stalks you until you die from him or the paranoia that he is coming for you. I say kick it up another notch and make it so allies to the enemy that is inside your ring of fog can see their ally that is inside either, making them untargetable for their allies. Meaning enchanters can point and click to heal them, kayle can't ult them, ect. Nothing can save you from nocturne when you are alone with him.

Like you can just go in the shroud and kill him, while Gwen get's bonus defensive attributes and the untargetability allows her to dodge stuff like Riven's Wind Slash (R2) or Sett's Haymaker (W). This ability seem like you'll get like 2 or 3 extra autos in which I don't know how much it will heal against a Morde, Urgot or Rengar with his overpowered Battle Roars (W). I would say this ability would be good in team fights because it will make it easier for your team mates to kill them.
15:28 Nocturne W idea Norturne shroud a mist a pure nightmare and darkness for a second, blocking the first ability hit. After successful blocking an ability, for the next few seconds, his W is replaced by Nightmarish Shock. Nightmarish Shock: Nocturne stabs and dashes foward with his blades. Dealing damage to all minions in his path, stopping at the first enemy champion hit dealing damage and granting him attack speed. This is a very simple one I have, giving him a tool he can use to both catch up or quickly escape when being spotted. What you have done is amazing btw! Very good art and concepts overall! Keep going
This as a whole has been Amazing work! If I can give my input on 'W' it would be this. W: Renamed 'Enduring Shadow', [Passive Kept], [Total Spell Negation Removed.]; W: 'Enduring Shadow' [NEW EFFECT.]: Nocturne's Chest Aura Veil's him in magical shadow for a short time [3 seconds until lv 4 making it 4 seconds instead] making him 'Unstoppable'. If a champion uses an ability against Nocturne during this period the damage is reduced [%Per Level + %Bonus AD + Bonus HP] and Nocturne gains bonus AS at the end. If the ability were to hard CC Nocturne; they instead are 'Terrified' for [Time per Level]. This makes it so the utility for Jungle is hit a bit hard, but it's not much needed for the lore that Nocturne is one to hunt those that Dream periodically, so disrupting what they learn and showing 'Futility' in a fear inducing matter would fit I would think!

I thought of Nocturne having a form of a Shadowy Wraith. He has visible legs but does not use and isn't his legs in the first place. As the rest of the body would be smokey looking, with his blades visible. This video made my day on overdoing its part more than I expected. *AND THIS MAN NAILED IT VERY HARD!*
I have to start praising this incredible work, great job the concept art is incredible I hope Riot hires you lmao. As a former Nocturn and Fiddle main I would definitely focus on making them distinct. Fiddle focusing on the primal and animalistic fear of panic, confusion and desperation, reflected on the mixed and warped voices from the victims he butchered and now mindlessly mimics overwhelming your senses. Nocturn focusing on loneliness, despair, a more depressed and "clinical" type of fear, a more chirurgical approach to voices that weave inside your mind and makes you question if he know you more them yourself, overwhelming your consciousness. Similar to Delirium voice lines from Path of Exile. For the gameplay theme that would translate on keeping him focused on isolated targets. While fiddle makes you fear of being 5 man ulted, nocturn should make you feel fear of going by yourself on the side lanes and less effective at team fights. Inherently his kit is prone to unhealthy gameplay patterns, it's important to avoid his effectiveness as a ADC/Mage nullifier that suicides itself with no counter play (that frequently suffer from this issue) and increase his effectiveness at punishing split pushing bruisers that usually don't have to keep that in mind, warping the game in a more interesting and novel way, forcing the entire enemy team to stick together. In general the focus is to reduce his burst effectiveness and increase his sustain effectiveness, allowing more counter play for mages and marksmen but keeping a threat against bruisers. And keep him as a very basic champion mechanically. Passive: Every third hit Nocturn feeds on the enemy mind/fears dealing extra magic damage based on enemy max HP, if it kills the target the target it deals AoE damage based on the enemy health. That change keeps his AoE damage for farming, reduces the effectiveness of building lethality and increases his threat against bruisers/tanks without over threatning squishes. Q: A skillshot very similar to his original Q, but it stops at the first champion and curses it. Cursed champs take 1/3 of his passive damage every hit. Effectively doubling his passive damage and making it more consistent. The shadow trails increase nocturn move speed and AD, but less AD than currently. Allows bodybocking for your carries. W: Nocturn turns into a ethereal shadow form, reducing damage taken 50%, if hit by hard CC nocturn loses his ethereal form and damage reduction but ignores the CC. Keep it as a very basic, easy to use ability allowing him to survive just enough to his proc his fear. E: Reduces fear duration but reduces armor and MR while feared. R: Add the awesome Fog of War effect shadowy effect only while he has ult up. Making him easier to deal against beginners who can't keep track of R CD that well. Free to add any sort of mechanic. I would probably go for reset on kill.
I feel like a good ability for his W could be something similar to vlad pool. He can't cast anything through it - because, of course, nightmares cant hurt you, right? - but his E channel would stay tethered.
Instant thought on W is an untargetability that can be used similarly. (Maybe empower next AA or give as for x) Yes people hate them but it would fit so well.

It's soooo Amazing ! The uncanny effect was much needed on this one, fear, terror, born something like us, but ... not quite. His stance is perfect, calm, straight, unbothered, reinforcing the terror ! I Love It ! The only thing I think would be perfect is for his ult to remain quite the same, but instead of a dash, a "teleport" like Tham kench E, cause the "passive" on his ult, would be, if nocturne emerge from the fog, AND you are alone, he'll fear you, for quite a while ! And if a target is killed while unseen by his teammate, it reset the duration and the teleport. The theme also could grow lourder, and the voices more intense, reinforcing the terror of somebody's already fallen and his coming for you next ! The theme is perfect, the stings works perfectly, and the dubstep like distortion is priceless with the voices. Truly a masterclass from start to finish!
I love him, my iteration was something a bit more "broken", with pale imitations of the 5 rune stones planted or levitating on his back. And instead of a stealth passive I thought about a "5 point combo/stack" system on ennemy champions that make them progressively more paranoid, until they can't tell ennemy aparts.
If he had finger mouth mask like Shigaraki in his "ultimate form" on season 7 from bnha, as a Noc main its weird to me to see him in stand up posture and not crouching one and the only thing this video is missing its the new voicelines but hell ye thats a good fanmade rework
Maybe the W could be something like he becomes invisible and transparent to all abilities and cc for a very short period while also giving him lots of movement speed to reposition, sort of like Aurora's W but with some modifications that makes him an actual nightmare to deal with instead of giving him a boring spellshield. Amazing rework btw! I loved it! Hope Riot sees someday your channel because I would love to see one of your reworks in game!
His W should have a recast, stock up to 3 abilities you spell shielded. When used his spell shields, if recasted it stuns enemies. It lasts longer the more stacks you have.
Here is my take on W: Noc briefly becomes a smoke cloud that nullify the next ability thrown to it. If the W is cast targeting a near enemy champion, the shadow cloud surrounds the enemy (like a reverse Senna W) and Noc can recast it to throw a single shadow missile from ANY point in the shadowy circumference, reappearing in that point briefly after.
Here's my ability concepts based on what you've created here: Passive: When Nocturne is unseen by an enemy champion for at least 8 seconds, they will become marked by him, and the mark will remain on them until he is revealed. After being revealed, marks will dissipate after 6 seconds. Nocturne's abilities interact with marks. The invisibility passive is removed (a cool idea on paper, but in practice with how I've changed the mark, it would be unfair). After auto attacking an enemy that is marked this way, gain a large amount of lethality until the mark expires-- this effect does not stack on hitting multiple marked targets. Additionally, the current cleave passive that exists in game is not removed. After a champion's mark is removed by any means, they cannot be marked again for 12 seconds (per champion cooldown to prevent gaming the system with W invincibility). Q: Mostly unchanged from the video, except the mark application is on the passive so that it may also be utilized in other abilities to make it more of a core part of him rather than a part of one ability. The shadow he places lingers and marked enemies that pass through it will leave trails he can follow. W: Becomes a toggled ability. While active, Nocturne becomes immune to *all* damage and effects from enemies that are currently marked by him. Costs a large amount of mana to sustain. This gives him the ability to clear dangers around the map so long as the enemy lacks vision on him, and gives him a brief window of invulnerability before he can engage his prey after approaching unseen. E: Changes to an aimed cone ability. Any enemy within the cone will receive a tether. Enemies who are marked will have their mark duration paused until the tether breaks. If the tether is broken before the fear is applied, their mark will be dispelled immediately. Takes 2.5 seconds instead of 2 seconds to fear, increasing the window for enemies to escape, and increasing the maximum damage the ability can do. Fear duration is also slightly increased to balance out the time it takes to apply it. R: Terrorizes all *marked* enemy champions, revealing them to Nocturne (but not allies), and making them Near Sighted for 8 seconds. When recast, Nocturne can dash to *any* target revealed this way from any distance and deal physical damage on arrival. Upon arrival from Recast, all enemy champions who were marked *except* the champion hunted down by Nocturne will have their marks dispelled instantly, as well the Near Sight will end. Enemy champions who are not marked at the start of Paranoia are unaffected by its Near Sight, but if they become marked during it's duration they may still become a target for the recast effect. Marked enemy champions will hear an audio queue when Nocturne recasts the ability, but will not know who he is hunting until he arrives. UI element added: Nocturne will have an additional element added to his UI near his ability bar, for ease of access to knowledge of what champions are currently marked and which are not. This doubles as a way to quickly use his R recast on someone.
Keeping his W as a defensive tool sounds like a correct choice to me. I honestly think the spellshield would still suit him here, but instead of giving Nocturne more power in the form of AS, perhaps turning him invisible for a short duration after being struck or obscuring the attacker's vision after breaking it feels themarically correct.
For his W-Melt into shadow and become imune to attacks of the physical realm. Become Gaseous and immune to physical damage and crowd control effects. If vast while in fog of war or on a duskbringer trail Nocturne additionally becomes invisible for a short duration. As a powerful spirit/demon it makes sense thag he could essentially ignore physical attacks, but could still be affected by the magical. To balance cc immunity on a strong duelist like Nocturne, it could convert cc into a slow or into damage, or you could remove the immunity all together and have it so being cc'd while active would prolong its duration or reset its cooldown.
W - Creeping Horror / Nightmare Unleashed (Toggle Ability) Passive - Nocturne reduces the vision radius of wards that can see him by 450 units. Toggle Off - Nocturne becomes untargetable and gains bonus movement speed. However, Nocturne cannot attack or cast other abilities while in this state. While Nocturne is within 3000 units of an enemy champion he can see, he slowly builds 'Fearsome' and the bonus movement speed is increased when moving towards an enemy champion. Toggle On - Nocturne unleashes himself into reality, gaining bonus AD and attack speed based on 'Fearsome' stacks. Additionally, Nocturne deals bonus magic damage on attacks and abilities if he unleashes himself within 800 units of an enemy champion. This ability cannot be toggled off unless Nocturne is out of combat. When Paranoia is recast, this ability is automatically toggled on and gains the benefit of maximum fearsome stacks and bonus magic damage on attacks until exiting combat.
You just keep going to the next level, now with an amazing song😍 Thank you very much for also including the creative process of the song (and all the people involved). Now comments of abilities, where I can say more 👍: I think it is an upgrade, but it still has, imo, the problems of going yolo with his ultimate, his ultimate eating too much of his power budget and some abilities being great on paper boring in execution Passive: very thematic, similar to Evelynn's passive, which makes sense, but worse in the detection range (eve is reaveled from 700 units whereas Noctune 1000). And now it does heal. I love how you kept q and e very similar of what they do, but look so much cooler. So i think pasive, q and e had an upgrade. Changes that I think needed: Passive: the healing of his empower attack to help him being a bruiser. Instead of being aeo, having the Riot special of hitting an enemy thrice and you get a nice healing (it does not matter if the auto attacks are to different enemies). The healing being part of his ultimate would make it unavailable without it. We exchange the aoe damge for the invisibility and a nice healing (and the aoe does only make sense to me for jungle clearing.not his play style of auto attacking enemies to death). W: he gains 100% tenacity for the next 0.5, so he is just not cced when about to land, but Nocturne also has to perfectly time it. He also heals a portion of the damage dealt (this mixed with his passive helps him to be a proper bruiser). I would not add anything to his definitive, it is already really powerful. I would decrease the short sightening effect to 4.5 seconds and give its effect a 2.500-3000 units range.
Okay Riot, just hand the $100.000 and get his permission to take this Nocturne in game Idea for W: It could maybe be a passive that messes with something either related to sleep/idleness or the fog of war. Maybe champions that spent too much time not moving or moving very little could be like taking a little rest and his powers would manifest, maybe revealing their location to Nocturne and granting him movement speed towards the target, maybe recalling could be the equivalent of sleeping/resting and he would crave for coming to haunt you at your most vulnerable moment, coming himself at extremely scary speed towards you (excelent potential for animation here) or harming you through the darkness in some way (Maybe his passive that changes fog of war can go beyond pure aesthetics? Maybe the map is filled with a passive terror? 1.Very little global magic damage, like an eerie presence that consumes those on their sleeps, shadow hands coming to harm you (With a decent time between harmings to not lock people from ever recalling) 2. Makes you see enemy champions coming from the fog of war in your direction, paranoia and nightmares are messing with your head, it's now hard to say what's real and what's not. ) And maxing W enhances this passive fantasy, which I feel would bring a really strong identity in whatever idea direction that I gave. (He crawling the map at an unease speed to come and get you is my favorite)
Alright I have an idea for the W Breath of the dark: He disperses for one second leaving behind an effigy of himself that will chase the closest target, or the target he hit last. While he is dispersed he can’t be seen or affected. The first enemy hit by the effigy will see random champs appear in there vision (effectively making them nearsighted) this will last for 3 seconds
An idea for W: Cooldown: 21/18/17/14/11 Mana Cost: 40/50/60/70/80 Passive- Nocturne gains 1 lethality per champion kill under the effects of Fear. Active W - Nocturne envelops himself in a shroud of shadows, gaining 10/25/40/55/70% damage reduction for 1 seconds. W can be recast at any time, and does so automatically after the duration. Recast W - Nocturne's shroud explodes out and covers the nearby area (effect radius 375, the same as Warwick E), champions hit become near sighted (vision radius 350, same as quinn Q) for 0.5/0.75/1/1.25/1.5 seconds and feared for half the duration. Enemies hit will also leave a dusk trail for the duration they are near sighted.
I was expecting while hearing the theme and seeing the splash art right before the end of the segment the eyes all turn to us (the camera) and then so does his head and the screen goes black with the Nocturne ult sound and we hear "Darkness..."
I really love the eyes you made with him, as someone who suffers from nightmares when I woke up, I always feel that I'm being watched by an entity. so, the eyes feel like a nudge to a real-life scenario of someone waking up from a nightmare thinking something is watching. it would have been cooler if the eyes around the animation to move around and blinks and also moves like they are communicating to each other..all in all this is awesome
For the W I thought of maybe entering his shadow, like Vlad would do with his pool, with his eyes still lurking around. If used on his Q then he would enter it. Dope as hell rework idea tho
I am a control mage main. So do not take what i say absolute. I believe that as an assassin, his W should play more with an condition inflected on enemies. I do not like the sleep debuff, but i can see it working here. But i would be much more for a nearsight debuff. Something like: Nocturne throws a shadow on an area that deals damage and slows the enemies hit. Afterwards it expands covering the region in darkness for 5 seconds. If the enemies stays inside the shadow for 2 seconds, they get the debuff cursed, and can't see unities that aren't under the light of turrets or close to them. For each cursed enemy nocturne gains move speed and attack speed if inside the shadow. Nocturne can recast the ability on an specific enemy, and turn them into a black torch, so while the enemy is cursed, he will spread the shadow as he moves for over 3 seconds. If an cursed enemy dies, their death spread a smoke of darkness doubling the gain of buffs that comes from this spell while there are darkness on the map. Nocturne can once again create a black torch. This way he not only gains more acess to enemies, and to disrupt the battlefield, but also an escaping tool since he can't dash away like other assassins.
love this, though instead of being camouflage from a far away it wouldve been cool if his abilities are enhanced when hes in the fog of war until hes spotted by ANY enemy unit that can show him in the minimap and he'll have 2 seconds before he has to hide in the shadows again to get his enhanced abilities back
I wish base form (non ult form) would be scarrier (and to be honest even ult form could be better). But it is a lot more nicer to look at and more interesting now I would say. As for the W: Shadow step - COST: 65/60/55/50/45 mana | COOLDOWN: 17/15/13/11/9 seconds | CAST TIME: 0.4 seconds | RANGE: 250 units ACTIVE: Nocturn disappears into the shadows, becoming invisible for 3 seconds, blinking in a direction and gaining 20 to 50% (based on level) move speed while moving away from a enemy champion or summon creatures. The number are up to debate how high or low they should. I came up with this on the spot. Don't know how good this would be on bruiser Nocturne, I just feel it fits thematically. Over all, good rework. 9 out of 10, for now. Might change my mind in the future, who knows.
Yoooo this is amazing, I love the uncanny legs on the ultimate, it gives the idea of a nightmare creature chasing you, like when in dreams you can't run even if you try, and he can always get to you. The only thing I can't go over is the Andrew Tate hand pose in the splashart 😭 Jokes apart, amazing work as always buddy, you give us lore fans always hope seeing that out there there is still someone fighting for the design and lore, so much potential.
the concept gave me ghostfreak vibes from ben 10, which i love! i do have some critiques on the design though... i feel like the silhouette could use improvement. it feels too blocky for a creature of nightmare and shadow. i think making the ring at his back with the eyes be more wispy and smoke like would lessen that blockiness. the posture, which i think looks great if you were looking up at him irl, doesn't translate as well for the almost top down view we have for the game. i also think redistributing some of the eyes would be good. i just feel like the eyes are to concentrated heavily on the top back half of his design. for his chest mouth thing, i think accentuating it with a glowing line would emphasize that there was something hidden in there just waiting to burst out at any moment. maybe a pulsing effect can be added when fully rendered. amazing work, nonetheless! also love the theme you guys created for this video!
Great work on the design, but I think the abilities need more work. The ult specially feels like it deviates too much from the paranoia theme and adds effects for the sake of making him good at killing things. I don't remember where I saw it, but there was a rework idea that reduced the first cast of his ult to a circle, a big darkness cloud basically. Enemies outside lose vision inside and enemies inside are near sighted. It got me thinking that combined with the Fading Light passive it could give Nocturne an easy way to move in and out of vision. Add fake shadows that spawn from the edges of the cloud to make enemies unsure of where Nocturne will come from and it would be a pretty fitting ult for the Paranoia theme.
I like the q but like you said it felt a little boring. The only thing I would do differently is, I would have it like a cross between Viego’s mist and Graves smoke bomb. I don’t play the PC version so I don’t know which buttons those are. So what I mean is have the slash in a targeted area which then leave the shadow after a few seconds where any opponent caught in it would be blinded like in Graves smoke bomb and anyone outside of it could only see Nocturne when he attacked. Maybe that’s busted but i would love to play that spooky fantasy as Nocturne. I absolutely love this design and hope to see more. PS. I hope you haven’t forgotten about the void yordle. 😉

This a champion I've long hoped to get a major overhaul so If I may I would like to give my own personal take on where I would have taken Nocturne Lore Wise specifically and you can lemme know what you think since your version seems to be sticking closer to Ionia aesthetically:
To me the similarities in Nocturne's design and the corrupted Master Kusho from the Zed comic as well as the uncanny (probably unintentional) Shockblade zed/Nocturne splash art overlap made me think literally turning Nocturne into Master Kusho would be a really fun direction for him.
Yone came back from the dead after defeating his manifested inner demons/Azakana, so in my mind it would be cool if Kusho pretty much did the reverse; overdosing on the shadow magic and subjugating/controlling his inner demons to become something else - a new demon, the epicentre of the Azakana if you will. I cannot help but find the commonality between the Azakana's nature prey on individuals hyper specific fears and those same hyper specific fears we experience in our dreams, that and nearly all of the last line of dialogue we get from Kusho in the comic is preying on Zed's fear of abandonment and identity.
I like to think Master Kusho turning into Nocturne is the sole reason why there is an Azakana epidemic in Ionia specifically. Yes they have dealt with much trauma, but so has literally every other region. To me it would allow nocturne to hone in on his own identity, give him ties to specific champions, have an actual impact in the lore, and fully separate him from fiddlesticks as since the rework it's been joked non stop how Nocturne has essentially become his bootleg. In this way he would ironically still be that though - a human turned demon - an imposter in the hierarchy, poetic since Kusho cheated to power much of his last few years in life with said shadow magic.
Yeah and making a Final Boss not only for Yone but for Ionia inself with Zed Karma etc
Would make another good event like the Invasion of Viego but with Nocturne 😂

Now to the nitty and gritty: back when I read the zed comics I definitely thought the same, additionally the general connection to the shadow magic in his bio, this can not be a coincidence (even though it just might be :D)
Either way, master Kushiro certainly has to play a key part, even though Zed defeats him this defeated form could allow Nocturne to overthrow his spirit. And what happens with all the liquid shadow once he was gone? The shadow magic is tied to nocturne - that way Kusho is already in his grasps.
Now the key part in my opinion is how to merge them, is Master Kusho a vessel? Did they merge? Did they become something new? How smart is nocturne? He has to be distinguished from Nilah and Swain - more than a tool. But maybe there is room for a demon who has overtaken a man, this would create a bridge between the full demons and Fiddlesticks/ Evelynn’s, but than again distinguish hin enough from the Darkin.
But here also lies the biggest risk. Nocturne this twister of dreams, the twist in the psyche, the stupid tinnitus that drives you crazy, the feeling of someone watching out of your rooms corner. I like that about him and don’t want him to loose it.
To come to a conclusion, I think it would long term improve this character, Skyen said once Nocs big problem is that is only good when he discovers the truth at the bottom of other champions. And of course this is absolutely true, the Kusho route would create someone who has agency, nocturnes power is still not fully available because he is trapped in the spirit realm and adding to your theory, the more intelligent mind of Kusho could try to find a solution for this! Now that made me very curious - I’m a bit scared that he gets overtaken by Kushos character and humanized but if done right this could be Ionians end boss, from first vanguard to greatest threat.
Nerding out with nickyboi was not on my bucket list today but it certainly made my day!

I've always loved the idea that Fiddlesticks is a predator - an ambush predator specifically, he wants to taunt you, terrorize you, lure you out and rip you to pieces when you're at your most terrified.
Nocturne is a parasite. He wants to latch onto you, dig into your psyche, and never let you sleep again, until he's done sucking the nightmares from your skull.
This could be that Nocturne, absolutely.

Nocturne's W feels like a good opportunity to play with the idea of someone trying to fight back against their nightmare but not being able to actually hurt it and the fear that come with feeling weaker than you thought you were. Nocturne could turn incorporeal so that nothing can hurt him for a short period of time (1 second maybe). If an enemy champion were to attack Nocturne in this state, Nocturne inflicks weaken debuff (enemies do less damage to you and allies) to the enemy to emulate the feeling of powerlessness people have when having a nightmare. That feeling of not being able to run as fast as you think you should or hit as hard as you know you should. Great job on the Nocturne rework!

"Nothing can hurt" / Invulnable is broken, Unstopable is broken, Spellshield is lame, and we're playing Champions vs Champions here, not vs random minion, so it should be like:
For a sec or more, he gets dmg reduction, self disarmed, and a spell-thornmail "weaken" deflect. I think that's enough.
It's an OP defense nontheless. The best you could do is CC him but your carries shouldn't hit him at all.
The design is definitely an upgrade, but I feel like the kit still needs a bit more, otherwise he would end up like Skarner, and become forgotten again after a few months

This rework really fits in the lore. Specifically after Lux banished Nocturne in the shadow realm and the Zed comics where Kusho got shadow magic (it can be nocturne in a weakened state). This is just a speculation

You guys killed it with this redesign and really captured the identity of what Nocturne represents and brought him into modern form. Its videos like this and NickyBoi's Cassiopeia redesign that I kinda wish Riot would focus more on older champs and revamp them. i think his w should be a mix of smolder e and senna e, but for just himself. an intangible cloud of smog and darkness, able to avoid attacks and reposition, it could even have synergy with his passive. extending the range of FOW before hes actually visible.

Here is an idea for his W.
“Fears made flesh”
Nocturne gains damage reduction for a short duration. During this time any attacks that hit him cause a spectral duplicate of himself to spawn and dash at the attacker, hitting for a percentage of Nocturne’s auto attack and applying a stacking slow.
This would help him chase down ranged champs and give him survivability for both lethality and bruiser builds.
You cooked with the design. As for the W I would keep it a spell shield but add an extra effect for Nocturne where if he leaves the fog made from Q or disengages from the e theater it leaves a shadow clone and make nocturne camouflaged for a brief period of time. The clone is stationary in place and does nothing. It's not perfect but adds a little extra to not make the spell shield not as boring. Also for the lore I would add that he follows his victim out of their dreams and leaves the victim with sleep paralysis where they die quietly. Maybe with short story featuring Shen, Zed, and Yone investigating Azakana haunting tired soldiers who refuse to sleep suffering from PTSD. They manage to get a solider to sleep only for them to die with their eyes open with no visual cause of death. I'm not writer but I think adding sleep paralysis would be cool.

I'm very pleased that you leaned into Nocturne's connection with shadow magic and Ionia, something I was disappointed wasn't explored in LoR but instead they shoved him in Shadow Isles.
That said, the final design doesn't appeal to me, it feels like the design is trying too hard to be scary as if in an attempt to match up to Fiddlesticks.

W - Veil of Sleepless Night, Nocturn spreads his shadows around himself, making him camouflaged, any opponent who enters him briefly receives near sight. So ability for 1v1 opponents, others who aren't in him cant see him and those who are in him cant see others.
I said camouflaged, but I meant more like Gwen's shroud but moves with him, and it doesn't make him untargetable, so skill shots still can hit him but makes HIM invisible but not the surrounding shadows, and only when you went into the shadows you can like AA him etc. but then you can't see around you. When I'm writing this, I just realized it is very similar to Senna but not the same, and fits the character well I think.
I think that another great direction asking myself if I should make a video showing the different w ideas! 💡
Senna E but only for you but enemies that enter the ring becomes near sighted to everything outside is genius. It fits nocturne perfectly and it adds a near sight effect to his basic abilties which I think is a good idea, because it really emphasizes Nocturne has THE near sight champion that creeps, haunts and stalks you until you die from him or the paranoia that he is coming for you.
I say kick it up another notch and make it so allies to the enemy that is inside your ring of fog can see their ally that is inside either, making them untargetable for their allies. Meaning enchanters can point and click to heal them, kayle can't ult them, ect. Nothing can save you from nocturne when you are alone with him.

Like you can just go in the shroud and kill him, while Gwen get's bonus defensive attributes and the untargetability allows her to dodge stuff like Riven's Wind Slash (R2) or Sett's Haymaker (W). This ability seem like you'll get like 2 or 3 extra autos in which I don't know how much it will heal against a Morde, Urgot or Rengar with his overpowered Battle Roars (W).
I would say this ability would be good in team fights because it will make it easier for your team mates to kill them.

15:28 Nocturne W idea
Norturne shroud a mist a pure nightmare and darkness for a second, blocking the first ability hit. After successful blocking an ability, for the next few seconds, his W is replaced by Nightmarish Shock.
Nightmarish Shock: Nocturne stabs and dashes foward with his blades. Dealing damage to all minions in his path, stopping at the first enemy champion hit dealing damage and granting him attack speed.
This is a very simple one I have, giving him a tool he can use to both catch up or quickly escape when being spotted.
What you have done is amazing btw! Very good art and concepts overall! Keep going

This as a whole has been Amazing work! If I can give my input on 'W' it would be this. W: Renamed 'Enduring Shadow', [Passive Kept], [Total Spell Negation Removed.]; W: 'Enduring Shadow' [NEW EFFECT.]: Nocturne's Chest Aura Veil's him in magical shadow for a short time [3 seconds until lv 4 making it 4 seconds instead] making him 'Unstoppable'. If a champion uses an ability against Nocturne during this period the damage is reduced [%Per Level + %Bonus AD + Bonus HP] and Nocturne gains bonus AS at the end. If the ability were to hard CC Nocturne; they instead are 'Terrified' for [Time per Level].
This makes it so the utility for Jungle is hit a bit hard, but it's not much needed for the lore that Nocturne is one to hunt those that Dream periodically, so disrupting what they learn and showing 'Futility' in a fear inducing matter would fit I would think!
Riot could just straight up use this at this point, this is awesome

I thought of Nocturne having a form of a Shadowy Wraith. He has visible legs but does not use and isn't his legs in the first place. As the rest of the body would be smokey looking, with his blades visible.

I have to start praising this incredible work, great job the concept art is incredible I hope Riot hires you lmao. As a former Nocturn and Fiddle main I would definitely focus on making them distinct. Fiddle focusing on the primal and animalistic fear of panic, confusion and desperation, reflected on the mixed and warped voices from the victims he butchered and now mindlessly mimics overwhelming your senses. Nocturn focusing on loneliness, despair, a more depressed and "clinical" type of fear, a more chirurgical approach to voices that weave inside your mind and makes you question if he know you more them yourself, overwhelming your consciousness. Similar to Delirium voice lines from Path of Exile.
For the gameplay theme that would translate on keeping him focused on isolated targets. While fiddle makes you fear of being 5 man ulted, nocturn should make you feel fear of going by yourself on the side lanes and less effective at team fights. Inherently his kit is prone to unhealthy gameplay patterns, it's important to avoid his effectiveness as a ADC/Mage nullifier that suicides itself with no counter play (that frequently suffer from this issue) and increase his effectiveness at punishing split pushing bruisers that usually don't have to keep that in mind, warping the game in a more interesting and novel way, forcing the entire enemy team to stick together.
In general the focus is to reduce his burst effectiveness and increase his sustain effectiveness, allowing more counter play for mages and marksmen but keeping a threat against bruisers. And keep him as a very basic champion mechanically.
Passive: Every third hit Nocturn feeds on the enemy mind/fears dealing extra magic damage based on enemy max HP, if it kills the target the target it deals AoE damage based on the enemy health. That change keeps his AoE damage for farming, reduces the effectiveness of building lethality and increases his threat against bruisers/tanks without over threatning squishes.
Q: A skillshot very similar to his original Q, but it stops at the first champion and curses it. Cursed champs take 1/3 of his passive damage every hit. Effectively doubling his passive damage and making it more consistent. The shadow trails increase nocturn move speed and AD, but less AD than currently. Allows bodybocking for your carries.
W: Nocturn turns into a ethereal shadow form, reducing damage taken 50%, if hit by hard CC nocturn loses his ethereal form and damage reduction but ignores the CC. Keep it as a very basic, easy to use ability allowing him to survive just enough to his proc his fear.
E: Reduces fear duration but reduces armor and MR while feared.
R: Add the awesome Fog of War effect shadowy effect only while he has ult up. Making him easier to deal against beginners who can't keep track of R CD that well. Free to add any sort of mechanic. I would probably go for reset on kill.

I feel like a good ability for his W could be something similar to vlad pool. He can't cast anything through it - because, of course, nightmares cant hurt you, right? - but his E channel would stay tethered.

The only thing I think would be perfect is for his ult to remain quite the same, but instead of a dash, a "teleport" like Tham kench E, cause the "passive" on his ult, would be, if nocturne emerge from the fog, AND you are alone, he'll fear you, for quite a while !
And if a target is killed while unseen by his teammate, it reset the duration and the teleport.
The theme also could grow lourder, and the voices more intense, reinforcing the terror of somebody's already fallen and his coming for you next !
The theme is perfect, the stings works perfectly, and the dubstep like distortion is priceless with the voices.

As a Nocturne main and game dev myself, i must say, this Rework concept is insane!
I love him, my iteration was something a bit more "broken", with pale imitations of the 5 rune stones planted or levitating on his back. And instead of a stealth passive I thought about a "5 point combo/stack" system on ennemy champions that make them progressively more paranoid, until they can't tell ennemy aparts.
If he had finger mouth mask like Shigaraki in his "ultimate form" on season 7 from bnha, as a Noc main its weird to me to see him in stand up posture and not crouching one and the only thing this video is missing its the new voicelines but hell ye thats a good fanmade rework

Maybe the W could be something like he becomes invisible and transparent to all abilities and cc for a very short period while also giving him lots of movement speed to reposition, sort of like Aurora's W but with some modifications that makes him an actual nightmare to deal with instead of giving him a boring spellshield.

His W should have a recast, stock up to 3 abilities you spell shielded. When used his spell shields, if recasted it stuns enemies. It lasts longer the more stacks you have.
Sound very dangerous- Fiora riposte like but probably makes him very rewarding

The Design is so cool, you killed it man
Here is my take on W: Noc briefly becomes a smoke cloud that nullify the next ability thrown to it. If the W is cast targeting a near enemy champion, the shadow cloud surrounds the enemy (like a reverse Senna W) and Noc can recast it to throw a single shadow missile from ANY point in the shadowy circumference, reappearing in that point briefly after.
Here's my ability concepts based on what you've created here:
Passive: When Nocturne is unseen by an enemy champion for at least 8 seconds, they will become marked by him, and the mark will remain on them until he is revealed. After being revealed, marks will dissipate after 6 seconds. Nocturne's abilities interact with marks.
The invisibility passive is removed (a cool idea on paper, but in practice with how I've changed the mark, it would be unfair). After auto attacking an enemy that is marked this way, gain a large amount of lethality until the mark expires-- this effect does not stack on hitting multiple marked targets. Additionally, the current cleave passive that exists in game is not removed. After a champion's mark is removed by any means, they cannot be marked again for 12 seconds (per champion cooldown to prevent gaming the system with W invincibility).
Q: Mostly unchanged from the video, except the mark application is on the passive so that it may also be utilized in other abilities to make it more of a core part of him rather than a part of one ability. The shadow he places lingers and marked enemies that pass through it will leave trails he can follow.
W: Becomes a toggled ability. While active, Nocturne becomes immune to *all* damage and effects from enemies that are currently marked by him. Costs a large amount of mana to sustain. This gives him the ability to clear dangers around the map so long as the enemy lacks vision on him, and gives him a brief window of invulnerability before he can engage his prey after approaching unseen.
E: Changes to an aimed cone ability. Any enemy within the cone will receive a tether. Enemies who are marked will have their mark duration paused until the tether breaks. If the tether is broken before the fear is applied, their mark will be dispelled immediately. Takes 2.5 seconds instead of 2 seconds to fear, increasing the window for enemies to escape, and increasing the maximum damage the ability can do. Fear duration is also slightly increased to balance out the time it takes to apply it.
R: Terrorizes all *marked* enemy champions, revealing them to Nocturne (but not allies), and making them Near Sighted for 8 seconds. When recast, Nocturne can dash to *any* target revealed this way from any distance and deal physical damage on arrival. Upon arrival from Recast, all enemy champions who were marked *except* the champion hunted down by Nocturne will have their marks dispelled instantly, as well the Near Sight will end. Enemy champions who are not marked at the start of Paranoia are unaffected by its Near Sight, but if they become marked during it's duration they may still become a target for the recast effect.
Marked enemy champions will hear an audio queue when Nocturne recasts the ability, but will not know who he is hunting until he arrives.
UI element added: Nocturne will have an additional element added to his UI near his ability bar, for ease of access to knowledge of what champions are currently marked and which are not. This doubles as a way to quickly use his R recast on someone.
Keeping his W as a defensive tool sounds like a correct choice to me.
I honestly think the spellshield would still suit him here, but instead of giving Nocturne more power in the form of AS, perhaps turning him invisible for a short duration after being struck or obscuring the attacker's vision after breaking it feels themarically correct.
For his W-Melt into shadow and become imune to attacks of the physical realm. Become Gaseous and immune to physical damage and crowd control effects. If vast while in fog of war or on a duskbringer trail Nocturne additionally becomes invisible for a short duration.
As a powerful spirit/demon it makes sense thag he could essentially ignore physical attacks, but could still be affected by the magical. To balance cc immunity on a strong duelist like Nocturne, it could convert cc into a slow or into damage, or you could remove the immunity all together and have it so being cc'd while active would prolong its duration or reset its cooldown.
W - Creeping Horror / Nightmare Unleashed (Toggle Ability)
Passive - Nocturne reduces the vision radius of wards that can see him by 450 units.
Toggle Off - Nocturne becomes untargetable and gains bonus movement speed. However, Nocturne cannot attack or cast other abilities while in this state. While Nocturne is within 3000 units of an enemy champion he can see, he slowly builds 'Fearsome' and the bonus movement speed is increased when moving towards an enemy champion.
Toggle On - Nocturne unleashes himself into reality, gaining bonus AD and attack speed based on 'Fearsome' stacks. Additionally, Nocturne deals bonus magic damage on attacks and abilities if he unleashes himself within 800 units of an enemy champion. This ability cannot be toggled off unless Nocturne is out of combat.
When Paranoia is recast, this ability is automatically toggled on and gains the benefit of maximum fearsome stacks and bonus magic damage on attacks until exiting combat.
Sounds pretty op if I'm reading it correctly.

Now comments of abilities, where I can say more 👍:
I think it is an upgrade, but it still has, imo, the problems of going yolo with his ultimate, his ultimate eating too much of his power budget and some abilities being great on paper boring in execution
Passive: very thematic, similar to Evelynn's passive, which makes sense, but worse in the detection range (eve is reaveled from 700 units whereas Noctune 1000). And now it does heal.
I love how you kept q and e very similar of what they do, but look so much cooler. So i think pasive, q and e had an upgrade. Changes that I think needed:
Passive: the healing of his empower attack to help him being a bruiser. Instead of being aeo, having the Riot special of hitting an enemy thrice and you get a nice healing (it does not matter if the auto attacks are to different enemies). The healing being part of his ultimate would make it unavailable without it. We exchange the aoe damge for the invisibility and a nice healing (and the aoe does only make sense to me for jungle clearing.not his play style of auto attacking enemies to death).
W: he gains 100% tenacity for the next 0.5, so he is just not cced when about to land, but Nocturne also has to perfectly time it. He also heals a portion of the damage dealt (this mixed with his passive helps him to be a proper bruiser).
I would not add anything to his definitive, it is already really powerful. I would decrease the short sightening effect to 4.5 seconds and give its effect a 2.500-3000 units range.
Okay Riot, just hand the $100.000 and get his permission to take this Nocturne in game
Idea for W:
It could maybe be a passive that messes with something either related to sleep/idleness or the fog of war.
Maybe champions that spent too much time not moving or moving very little could be like taking a little rest and his powers would manifest, maybe revealing their location to Nocturne and granting him movement speed towards the target, maybe recalling could be the equivalent of sleeping/resting and he would crave for coming to haunt you at your most vulnerable moment, coming himself at extremely scary speed towards you (excelent potential for animation here) or harming you through the darkness in some way (Maybe his passive that changes fog of war can go beyond pure aesthetics? Maybe the map is filled with a passive terror?
1.Very little global magic damage, like an eerie presence that consumes those on their sleeps, shadow hands coming to harm you (With a decent time between harmings to not lock people from ever recalling)
2. Makes you see enemy champions coming from the fog of war in your direction, paranoia and nightmares are messing with your head, it's now hard to say what's real and what's not.
)
And maxing W enhances this passive fantasy, which I feel would bring a really strong identity in whatever idea direction that I gave. (He crawling the map at an unease speed to come and get you is my favorite)

Alright I have an idea for the W
Breath of the dark:
He disperses for one second leaving behind an effigy of himself that will chase the closest target, or the target he hit last. While he is dispersed he can’t be seen or affected. The first enemy hit by the effigy will see random champs appear in there vision (effectively making them nearsighted) this will last for 3 seconds
His theme + splashart gave me the chills
"league of legends has a problem with too many bones" that's news to me after seeing the updated teemo where he has cheek bones.
An idea for W:
Cooldown: 21/18/17/14/11
Mana Cost: 40/50/60/70/80
Passive- Nocturne gains 1 lethality per champion kill under the effects of Fear.
Active W - Nocturne envelops himself in a shroud of shadows, gaining 10/25/40/55/70% damage reduction for 1 seconds. W can be recast at any time, and does so automatically after the duration.
Recast W - Nocturne's shroud explodes out and covers the nearby area (effect radius 375, the same as Warwick E), champions hit become near sighted (vision radius 350, same as quinn Q) for 0.5/0.75/1/1.25/1.5 seconds and feared for half the duration. Enemies hit will also leave a dusk trail for the duration they are near sighted.
I was expecting while hearing the theme and seeing the splash art right before the end of the segment the eyes all turn to us (the camera) and then so does his head and the screen goes black with the Nocturne ult sound and we hear "Darkness..."

I really love the eyes you made with him, as someone who suffers from nightmares when I woke up, I always feel that I'm being watched by an entity. so, the eyes feel like a nudge to a real-life scenario of someone waking up from a nightmare thinking something is watching. it would have been cooler if the eyes around the animation to move around and blinks and also moves like they are communicating to each other..all in all this is awesome
I'm not the only one who thought this design reminded them of the Wraith design from Evolve which works I just thought it was interesting.
For the W I thought of maybe entering his shadow, like Vlad would do with his pool, with his eyes still lurking around. If used on his Q then he would enter it. Dope as hell rework idea tho

I am a control mage main. So do not take what i say absolute.
I believe that as an assassin, his W should play more with an condition inflected on enemies.
I do not like the sleep debuff, but i can see it working here.
But i would be much more for a nearsight debuff.
Something like:
Nocturne throws a shadow on an area that deals damage and slows the enemies hit. Afterwards it expands covering the region in darkness for 5 seconds.
If the enemies stays inside the shadow for 2 seconds, they get the debuff cursed, and can't see unities that aren't under the light of turrets or close to them.
For each cursed enemy nocturne gains move speed and attack speed if inside the shadow.
Nocturne can recast the ability on an specific enemy, and turn them into a black torch, so while the enemy is cursed, he will spread the shadow as he moves for over 3 seconds.
If an cursed enemy dies, their death spread a smoke of darkness doubling the gain of buffs that comes from this spell while there are darkness on the map.
Nocturne can once again create a black torch.
This way he not only gains more acess to enemies, and to disrupt the battlefield, but also an escaping tool since he can't dash away like other assassins.
love this, though instead of being camouflage from a far away it wouldve been cool if his abilities are enhanced when hes in the fog of war until hes spotted by ANY enemy unit that can show him in the minimap and he'll have 2 seconds before he has to hide in the shadows again to get his enhanced abilities back
I wish base form (non ult form) would be scarrier (and to be honest even ult form could be better). But it is a lot more nicer to look at and more interesting now I would say.
As for the W: Shadow step - COST: 65/60/55/50/45 mana | COOLDOWN: 17/15/13/11/9 seconds | CAST TIME: 0.4 seconds | RANGE: 250 units
ACTIVE: Nocturn disappears into the shadows, becoming invisible for 3 seconds, blinking in a direction and gaining 20 to 50% (based on level) move speed while moving away from a enemy champion or summon creatures. The number are up to debate how high or low they should. I came up with this on the spot.
Don't know how good this would be on bruiser Nocturne, I just feel it fits thematically.
Over all, good rework. 9 out of 10, for now. Might change my mind in the future, who knows.
Yoooo this is amazing, I love the uncanny legs on the ultimate, it gives the idea of a nightmare creature chasing you, like when in dreams you can't run even if you try, and he can always get to you.
The only thing I can't go over is the Andrew Tate hand pose in the splashart 😭

i do have some critiques on the design though... i feel like the silhouette could use improvement. it feels too blocky for a creature of nightmare and shadow. i think making the ring at his back with the eyes be more wispy and smoke like would lessen that blockiness. the posture, which i think looks great if you were looking up at him irl, doesn't translate as well for the almost top down view we have for the game.
i also think redistributing some of the eyes would be good. i just feel like the eyes are to concentrated heavily on the top back half of his design. for his chest mouth thing, i think accentuating it with a glowing line would emphasize that there was something hidden in there just waiting to burst out at any moment. maybe a pulsing effect can be added when fully rendered.

Great work on the design, but I think the abilities need more work. The ult specially feels like it deviates too much from the paranoia theme and adds effects for the sake of making him good at killing things.
I don't remember where I saw it, but there was a rework idea that reduced the first cast of his ult to a circle, a big darkness cloud basically. Enemies outside lose vision inside and enemies inside are near sighted.
It got me thinking that combined with the Fading Light passive it could give Nocturne an easy way to move in and out of vision. Add fake shadows that spawn from the edges of the cloud to make enemies unsure of where Nocturne will come from and it would be a pretty fitting ult for the Paranoia theme.
I like the q but like you said it felt a little boring. The only thing I would do differently is, I would have it like a cross between Viego’s mist and Graves smoke bomb. I don’t play the PC version so I don’t know which buttons those are. So what I mean is have the slash in a targeted area which then leave the shadow after a few seconds where any opponent caught in it would be blinded like in Graves smoke bomb and anyone outside of it could only see Nocturne when he attacked. Maybe that’s busted but i would love to play that spooky fantasy as Nocturne.
I absolutely love this design and hope to see more.
