The joy on Jen’s face when she got to say to Holden… “who’s to say 🤷🏻♀️” 😂😂😂 very good
The fact that we probably wont see many - if any - more movies with Jim Carrey breaks my heart. There is no comedian actor like him
He's a real highlight in both of the Sonic the Hedgehog movies.
Thank you for recognizing that.
@@leftofpunk can we forget about Sonic? He never would’ve done corny crap like that in his prime. We need to focus on his old movies, not any of his recent movies
@@nsasupporter7557What precisely about his role in Sonic do you think is more or less corny than his past roles? -Is it just because he portrays a character that already exited before his movie version that puts you off?
@@nsasupporter7557 I agree, he was far more classy being birthed naked from a mechanical Rhinoceros.
I love The Mask. One of Jim Carrey's best films. I remember that I used to keep pestering my parents to rent the VHS whenever we'd go to the video store. The animated series is great as well.
I was never a fan of Carrey's earlier movies (did love his _In Living Color_ work, though), but the style of comedy that turned me off in his other movies was a perfect fit for this one.
what a classic memory I share too.
This was one of the two dvds that came with the first dvd player we got. The other was stepmother, which as you can imagine wasn't as entertaining to a 10 year old. I re-watched the hell out of this and honestly was in the player for a long time until we got some simpsons dvds.
I still watch it when it is on the movie channels or buy the DVD when I see it.
Great pick Jen! This is a childhood classic for me 🤘😎
Did you both or one of you ever seen The Truman Show? If not, that would be a fantastic watch. My all time favorite Jim Carrey movie.
This movie is an absolute blast, so many great lines that I used to annoy classmates my freshman year in high school with. "Can't make the scene, if you don't have the green. I better make a little stop." "It's party time, P-A-R-T-Why? Because I gotta!" One of Jim's cookiest performances. He was a delight as Fire Marshal Bill in the comedy sketch In Living Color. Nice reaction, glad you got to see this gem Holden. The actor who played Dorian was in Pulp Fiction.
So fun fact, I actually own a copy of the script that was used on set. It was filmed in my sister in laws home town, and it was given to me as a Christmas present.
I love how Holden is roasting his dog throughout the movie 😂
Fun fact, Cameron Diaz and Snoop Dogg went to the same high school. And they were friends. This was also her first movie.
As a kid, I didn’t know what a celebrity crush was.. until I saw this movie
Now I dare you to watch The Son of the Mask haha
NO! Would people stop bringing that up
Fun Fact, the character that Jim Carrey plays (The Mask) was originally a DC comic that came out a few years earlier
Another Fun Fact: "The Mask" & "Ace Ventura" both had cartoon TV shows & even had a CROSSOVER episode.
@@LivinMyJeffLifeThe AceMan Cometh was a great crossover! also Dumb and Dumber also had a cartoon
I have seen mask/DC crossover comics. There's one where the joker gets the mask
Another fun fact. Jim Carrey actually took the big teeth home and practiced many times with the teeth in so he would be able to say words with no problem.
The Mask comic was from Dark Horse Comics not DC. Your "Fun Fact" is not a fact at all.
SSSMOKIN! Gotta give props for Jennifer to show Holden 3 of Jim Carrey’s iconic comedy films in 1994.
Ace Ventura Pet Detective, Dumb And Dumber, and The Mask.
(My personal favorite Jim Carrey movie)
Hopefully, you guys watch either the sequels like Ace Ventura When Nature Calls, and Dumb And Dumber To!
Definitely not the second The mask
Fun Fact: all three movies got animated series follow ups.
This is Cameron Diaz first movie in her entire life.
The movie that made her a star. She was so beautiful in this movie
@@chasehedges6775She never looked better then she did here with that longer hair. Shame she went with such a short cut the rest of her career.
"first hollywood movie" ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
@@kryziegwhat I was coming to say haha
@@williamroper5422it looks better the rest of her career
This is one of my favorite movies, I'm surprised Holden never seen The Mask, but I'm glad he loves it, it's such a classic and yeah they don't make em like they use to
Is that John Stuart the green lantern as your pfp?
Still one of my favourite films as a kid. Jim Carey was the UNDISPUTED king of Hollywood comedy in the mid 90's. The nostalgia dopamine hits I got from watching this back, was intoxicating. Glad Holden enjoyed it. Kinda impossible not to. So much fun, and no one could do it like Jim. I'm in my late 30's and have spent close to three decades still quoting lines from this film often.
He's the 1st $20M salary actor!
Carrey please. Gotta respect him at least that much, that you spell his name right. 😉
The effects dept only needed to exaggerate a little more. Jim Carrey already got them half way there with physical effects for movie quality.
Folks, if you’re wondering why they haven’t uploaded Ashoka or other videos, it’s because they’re sick right now. Jen was taken to a hospital for a kidney infection and Holden got sick with something else (I followed them on Instagram and saw her story). Be patient you guys.
Yeh The Mask is just an awesome movie. I think I was like most guys and fell for Cameron as soon as she came on the scene, and I do remember being surprised at the twist of the reporter lady being the traitor and Cameron's character being the "good gal".
That was some really smart writing and definitely catches us off-guard :)
Speaking of Cameron, would you guys watch the Charlie's Angels movies with Cameron Diaz and Lucy Lui? Those are just fun movies, definitely not to be taken seriously at all. Just fun flicks.
But yeh, any Jim Carrey 90's movie is great. Even Truman Show, one of his more serious roles is great to watch. Awesome story. :)
Superhero named "the mask"
You can yell how much energy Jim Carrey is puting into his role if you compare with the 2nd much worst movie because no Jim Carrey in it "Son of the Mask"
The mask is actually a comic book movie as it's based off the comic of the same name but they are pretty different. The comic is a lot darker and more violent.
WHERE IS ASHOKA EP 5???????!
I’m surprised he’s never seen this before since it is a comic book movie!
Yes, I’m beyond surprised
This movie is my childhood haha love it :)
I'm also hoping you guys are considering The Legend of Korra in your queue of shows :)
Jamie Kennedy talked with the director of son of the mask and the director has a VHS of his original film that is supposed to be more of what we would expect from it that if I remember right would of been PG-13 before the studio stepped in and messed it up and made it family friendly. Jamie did a few videos on the behind the scenes and what happened on his RUclips channel.
I refuse to believe you’ve never watched The Mask.. I refuse
0:42 Same!
1:03 WHAT?! I’ve seen the secuel, but never this one?! I REFUSE!!
Ya imagine the kid being named Loki. "I feel i can never live up to the name." Dennis the Menace, Kevin McCallister are young Loki levels of mischief.
It's actually based on a Comic Book series, so they probably just threw a comic book at people and said "This plus Jim Carrey, equals awesomeness. Wanna make a movie?"...
Just like Jen, when I was a kid, me and my sister had 3 vhs’s we watched so much we wore out the tape. It was The Mask, 2002’s live action Scooby-Doo movie and Shrek. I absolutely love the mask. It just brings so much joy to me. There’s honestly never a bad time to watch it, I’m always down to watch it lol
I was just thinking about this movie 😂 that dance scene with the cops lives in my head rent-free. Glad you enjoyed it! 90s movies just hit different
Holden said that the bank looks like the bank in Spiderman 2. It is the same bank. They were both filmed at 650 Spring St. Downtown LA.
I love love this movie. This movie got me obsessed with Jim Carrey. I have over 30 movies of him. Huge crush Camoren Diaz. Hope to one day meet him I'm person.
Ace Ventura was before the Mask and that got me obsessed with. So I got you beat 😉
This movie was the only one that Cameron Diaz looked good in. She’s never been attractive again after this movie
One performance by Jim Carrey that I love, that he later went on to rebuke, was in kickass 2. I hope you guys watch kickass 1&2, it’s a superhero movie starring quicksilver from the mcu, but has killer performances from nic cage in 1, and Carrey in 2. Plus one of the breakout roles for Chloe grace moretz
Fun fact, The Mask is one of the few comic-book films that completely deviates from the source material and actually works. In the comics it's way more violent, scary and crazier. The wearer looks just like Jim Carrey in the make up, but they go on mass murdering sprees and use their power for their own gain.
Me: "ooh new upload"
*reads the title from the end 😂*
"Nice they're watching The Mask"
*reads the whole title*
"Wait, Holden hasn't seen The Mask?!😂"
(At 16:19) this was my 2nd favorite song from the movie, Jim Carrey singing Cuban Pete.
1st favorite was Bounce Around by Tony Toni Tone.
Jim doing Clint Eastwood goes back to his standup days
Adam Devine was talking recently about how mid budget comedies don’t exist anymore. Couldn’t be more true. Netflix and streaming services have taken up that space with unmemorable content. I miss this sort of movie going experience!
Well you got to have great comedy energy form the star or it is just a bad budget comedy.
Alot of the old comedy movies had to have great cast to be remembered.
2:01 Haha Jens starting to let her inner "comment of the day" out more and more.
I'm surprised this would be Holden's first time seeing this classic Jim Carrey film.
Watching this as an 11 year old boy in 1994, I can't tell you what Cameron Diaz did to my hormones. "SMOKING".......indeed 🥵.
I hope you guys eventually watch Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, Liar Liar, Bruce Almighty, The Truman Show and Me, Myself & Irene!
This movie is my childhood and gets better once you really get the jokes as an adult hahah
fun fact Jim Carrey had a part in one of the Dirty Harry movies "The Dead Pool 1981" and since he has ties to Dirty Harry...Jim has a forever pass of doing Clint Eastwood
Carrey is great in this, but the Dog steals the movie for me and is so good that he/she should of won some kind of 'Doggie Oscar' for his role that year. lol and Diaz is like Jim says in the movie SMOKIN!!!!
When I see Jim Carrey as The Mask, I'm thinking of only one character that makes more of a cameo appearance, more or less how he moves fast, the Tasmanian Devil from _Looney Tunes…_ "Taz"
Mainly, his cyclone.
Is everything okay with y'all? The fact that y'all haven't uploaded ahsoka yet has me a little concerned. Hope everything is okay 🤞
These "My Husband Watches" videos are always such a fun time! This one made me way nostalgic as a kid who grew up in the 90s & consumed all the Jim Carrey movies. I know that Holden worked so very hard to build up this channel. I just want to also say that Jen, you have also added so much value to the channel! You can really see that you and Holden work together so well and make a great team. It's so wholesome & encouraging to see. ❤ I'm glad the channel has continued on and only gotten stronger!
(At 5:08) Yeah I'm just going to call it what it is… Stanley Ipkes just got screwed over.
Did you guys ever watch Ace Ventura 2? That movie is still half of my vocabulary.
I'm very surprised Holden hasn't fully seen the Mask... One of my childhood favorites.
Same.
The actress who plays the reporter is Amy Yasbeck, the wife of the late actor John Ritter(Three's Company and 8 Simple Rules. Even if it is only a small role, I enjoy watching her act. Her husband was a very funny man.
I love John Ritter. I got to meet Priscilla Barnes (Terri from Three's Company) at a convention years ago, and she said "you remind me of John" and that has probably been one of the best compliments I've received. I still think about that.
@@HoldenHardman did you like the thor movies, or the Avengers, or Loki the series? Loki is so fun "when not being evil 😈"
OHHH WOWW. His 1st time? I’m gonna love this! 😁
Most people don’t know but this is based of a comic book of the same name and it’s not too different just it’s way more violent I mean he literally burns people alive with a flame thrower 😂
Jim Carrey was king when this came out.
He still is! He is the best comedian ever and one of the biggest stars of ever as well. Even though he’s passed his prime now
If it possible, you guys need to watch the Mask animated series; it follows the original film with heart.
Oh and I'm sure there is also a podcast about this movie everyone nearly forgot about.
One of the best parts about this film is that jim carrey didn't know most of his lines work, He improved on everything. Even the mask that he wore was not supposed to move his lips, There was supposed to be a Sequel the mask two But Jim Carrey had to turn it around to work on movies. Like the cable guy and Truman show.
Great movie, Me myself and Irene would be interested to see you guys watch!
Legend of Korra when? 👀
This based on the Dark Horse comic book and the comics are way more dark and brutal.
any chance we get a "My Wife watches Dragon Ball for the first time?"
Ahsoka?
The craziest thing about the Mask is how it goes a completely different direction than the comics.
This is the mask people love and probably most don’t know that it’s based on a comic that is surprisingly violent.
Jim Carrey plays the character Stanley Ipkiss from the first few comics I believe, but unlike in the movie where he is a goofy romantic in the comics he’s a complete psychopath and instead of being known as the mask he is called the big headed killer.
I think it was a hilarious oversight on behalf of the parents of my generation to not watch movies before they let us watch them. Any movie with Jim Carrey must just be a goofy kids movie I guess they thought... meanwhile, how Cameron Diaz lingered in my fantasies for years.
Could you and jen Please watch Arrow, it is such a good show.
Next videos : my X watches the news / the weather / her own house / water / a TV screen for the first time…
It’s impossible to haven’t watched half of the things from your titles. 😂
Eagerly waiting for Daredevil S3!
Awesome reaction the mask is his best movie ever
Basically, Gear 5th Luffy.😂
Now you gotta watch liar liar its my favorite Jim carey movie
This is the one movie that really surprises when people say they haven't seen it.
Jim Carrey is still my favorite actor because of his 90's run of movies😅😅
Fun Fact: "The Mask" & "Ace Ventura" both had cartoon TV shows & even had a CROSSOVER episode😅
Is this the reaction to The Mask or the unofficial roast of Boston lol?
I loved this movie as a kid. The Mask comic though? Ooof! So dark and disturbing. That's a movie I'd love to see.
Agree. Like the scene where he made a Tommy gun out of balloons and started shooting to scare the thugs away. In the comic, he actually did killed the thugs with the Tommy gun.
4:20 Not often Jen gets to use that line. And the cheeky grin after lol
12:58 » I love this brief Oscar cut 😆😆
You guys should totally do Liar Liar so funny
Yay first
jen hitting holden with the "who's to say" is my favorite part of this video
So excited for this one :)
Hi Holden and Jen I love your reaction to the mask thank you for watching it also this is Cameron Diaz's first movie I thought for sure Charles angels was her first movie Was this one and I hope you both watched the sun of the mask cause it might want to check it out see if you like it But I'm still happy I've got to see your reaction to this movie today I'll keep watching this reaction to this movie forever as long as time goes fast
Punctuation.
use punctuation. Also Son of the Mask sucks and is an insult to the first movie.
This movie is actually a COMIC BOOK MOVIE. The mask was a very PG13 variation of the graphic novel. It was a very dark and gory style comic.
Holden would probably love it
Holden how have you never seen this???
The Mask is indeed one of my favorite movies too. I'm glad Holden enjoyed it. Nice choice Jen.
SO NOSTALGIC!!! I just realized you didnt follow up with Ace Ventura 2 yet! WHEN!? haha Thanks for doing these older movies!
I love The Mask. One of my favorite movies 😁
This film used to scare the living daylights out of me 😂😂😂😂.
CLASSIC FILM
One of the best films of the 90s and one of Jim Carrey’s best.
The loaner car always reminds me of Fozzzy Bear's Studebaker from "The Muppet Movie" (1979) :D
I'd love to see a reboot that makes it more like the original comic. An R-rated slapstick horror comedy. Yeah, the Mask comic is actually pretty graphic. Ipkiss when he's in the mask is referred to as "The Big Head Killer" since he goes on killing sprees when he's wearing the mask.
This is one of the few times I knew Jenn was around my age based on how well she knows this film 🤣🤣🤣
I had a huge crush on Cameron Diaz after this movie came out. The actual cartoon series was funny too. In one episode there's a crossover with Ace Ventura after Milo goes missing, which is interesting.
This was the only movie where she looked good. She’s never been attractive again after this movie
There was a cartoon of Dumb and Dumber also, did you know that?
Me myself & Irene next please 🙏
Jim Carrey released The Mask, Ace Ventura AND Dumb and Dumber all in 1994. That's more success than most actors entire careers. Legend.
Amazing movie.! The comic is actually dark. But the cartoon is just as amazing as the movie is. And Jim did everything the cartoon does without even much CG. And if you have watched the Mask cartoon, you can actually see how similar these characters are in the movie.
The lore is that the mask has the power to make anything he wishes into reality created by the God of mischief, Loki. Very powerful!
It brings out his inner desires and brings them into reality and even others are affected by its influence.
So, wrong hands...very bad. But in the hands of a dork or a clown, everything is just mischievous!
The order of Jim Carrey movies:
Ace Ventura '94
The Mask '94
Dumb & Dumber '94
Batman Forever '95
Cable Guy '96
Liar, Liar '97
Truman Show '98
then he went serious for a couple movies (23, The Majestic, etc.)
Some interesting changes from the dark comic to the movie. In the comic, Stanley Ipkiss kills both mechanics, his old elementary school teacher (by stomping her head into mush with his combat boots), kills all the thugs in the alley with the tommy gun and by the end of the story Stanley's girlfriend hides and waits for him to take off the mask and shoots him, taking the mask for herself due to his psychotic antics. What a crazy movie that would have made huh?
If you enjoy Jim Carrey movies, please watch Yes Man! One of my favourites and has so much humour and charm.
I love the reactions. I hope I get to meet ya'll one day. Keep up the good work.
One of the best comic book movie
Jim Carrey make the Mask , Ace Ventura , Dumb and Dumber.
I Advice "Fun with Dick and Jane"
Liar Liar
9:11 I just saw her as the princess in Robin Hodd and the Men in Tights on another channel yesterday. Amy Yasbeck, still gorgeous at 61.
Jim Carrey had the best run of movies in my lifetime. I don't think any actor in recent memory has been able to pump out so many classics in such a short time frame. Ace Ventura (1994), Dumb and Dumber (1994), The Mask (1994), Ace Ventura When Nature Calls (1995), Batman Forever (1995), The Cable Guy (1996), Liar Liar (1997), The Truman Show (1998), and a small bit in Simon Birch (1998). Plus a few big movies a few years after that. There's no other actor like Jim Carrey. He could play a serious/down to Earth role when he had to, but nobody played the whacky/silly/random character that Jim Carrey perfected. I can't imagine any other actor being able to make 'The Mask' successful. One of my favorite childhood movies.
