Wow, no idea you could still ride at Shade Mountain! I used to ride there between races when I was at PSU in the 90s. Always had the whole place to myself and joked that if I crashed no one would ever find me until snowmobile season 😂 Thanks for posting!
The place is like a well kept secret, but it shouldn’t be! On a weekend you normally run into a couple folks on the trails, but we have had the whole place to ourselves more than once!
We all need to write /email our state reps. I was just out west and the amount of riding area maintained or given by the states is 50/1. Not to mention they have waaaay less people. Paying taxes. There is no reasons we cannot ride in state parks all over the state. It's bullshit.
People on the east coast don't know how to take care of anything never mind free stuff... I you find a nice place to ride don't tell anyone that is the only way to keep good trail to stay good...
We were there yesterday got in about 33 miles. more or less did everything in both directions. Mitchell was probably the toughest one there. Big pine down at the top that had to get around. other than that the place was pretty clear. Not too many signs of riders though which was surprising. good video!
Thanks for the vid! I'm heading over there in 3 weeks, from Wheeling, WV. With all the rocks, the Ibex and recon, you probably had a lot of traction. Silty/sandy areas, you just have to stay on the throttle and keep your momentum up.
I live FRO so much I barley ride here, I even have a camp right down the street from where u parked Grew up hunting that mountan riden was overgrown when I tried 2 years ago
What GPS software do you use? If ONx I can share you a link. If not, I can send you a GPX file. I don't currently have a way to host files for download.
Would you recommend this for a mid-level rider? I live close to it and was wondering if anybody knew about how good the riding was for genuine enduro. Thanks.
Give it a try! There are several smaller loops you can do and bypasses for most of the most difficult sections! If your bike is plated, they also have dual sport trails so you get even more ground to ride on. Unfortunately, neither of ours have plates.
@@jacobhornberger8073 a big group of us will be going out soon after they open. If you want a invite get me some contact info and I'll let you know when we are going. If you don't mind being challenged we will make sure you survive the entire trail!
They are all motorcycle trails. A good portion isn't bar banging tight, and you could easily ride 2 wide, but there are no "double track" trails as no 4 wheeled vehicles are permitted. The farther from the parking lot, the tighter the trail gets.
@@richardbrauer5950 do you still park on the side road up 309 used to park there when I road there 15 yrs ago ?it’s on the way out of town toward Tamaqua

I rarely see anyone there! It’s an amazing spot. Glad you had a good time!

Traction has never been a issue for us at shade. We love it there! I’m sure you will too.

Thanks for all of the info! ❤ Any GPX tracks? :) Saw the Pinterest trail map.

Do you have to have a plated bike ?
They have dual sport trails and yes for those. The OHM trails that this video is about you do not need a plate or registration.
