    The flaking is probably due to your low porosity hair. The gel is not penetrating the hair shaft. I was having the same problem until I purchased a hair steamer. This is a game changer for us with tight 4c low porosity hair. I use it for 30mins every other week with my deep conditioner. My hair has maximum hydration now due to the steaming allowing the conditioner to deeply penetrate. My first use showed some change. By the third use, my curls became very defined during the shampooing step. Now the same products that never worked for me, work like a charm. I get beautiful wash and Go's, twists, rod sets, etc. I don't need to keep buying different products to see if they work since almost any product is a success. And my hair is growing fast and healthy. Give steaming a try. It may surprise you.

      I have medium porosity 4c hair & I love steaming my hair. I have a Qredew & I use it often to detangle, refresh, moisturize, pre poo, deep condition etc. Gel always has a super drying brittle like effect on my already dry hair but I recently but some gel and want to try it again. I will try it with my steamer. How exactly do you use your steamer when using gel? Do you apply products and then gel & then you steam? Or do you mean when you only use your steamer for deep conditioning which helps your products work?Also what kind of gels do you use?

      @@SunandSunflowers Great! Thirty minutes is the max. I read where people over did it. The results last at least two weeks. I think I can go three weeks now. But do get a hood steamer. This is what the professionals at the salon uses. I follow some on Instagram. They tell and show all of the secrets for getting your hair healthy and defined. After having one, I see why. The results are amazing. They have table top ones and ones on stands. Good luck.

    The green tea leave in is really good. With the buttercream a little goes a long way. I get crazy definition with twist outs/braid outs when I pair the buttercream with mane choice pearly braid out glaze. Moisture for dayysss!!!

  • @soundreign2319
    @soundreign2319 4 года назад +6

    This twist out is totally gorgeous😍🤩. If you like this line, you’ll definitely love their RepairX line. TGIN’s honey mask deep conditioner was no longer giving me that moisturizing feeling I use to feel the first year and half when I started using it (it started to make my 4c natural hair feel like I just shampooed my hair, straw like) so I changed to their RepairX line and I don’t think I’ll ever turn back to their first line. I used their reconstructor protein conditioner and then used their moisture deep conditioner (yes 30 minutes each on the same day lol😂) it’s beyond words amazing😍😍😍. The shampoos from each of their lines are some what the same, I like their original moisture shampoo that you talked about a little better than the RepairX moisture shampoo. All in all pretty good products.

      Keisha j ikr? The leave-in is my favorite TGIN product. And it pairs well with various gels I’ve tried. Maybe Joy-el would’ve liked it too - for a lighter moisturizer than the Butter Cream (or maybe it would have made the gel work better such that there might not have been flakes ... but who knows).

    Loved this video and tgin is an OG for me. I love the moist line. The twist and define cream is amazing for me and i have low Porosity but there is a learning curve for sure, you need the smallest amount or you will get flakes. And I would not apply any extra product to your ends, just spray some water on it. The gel I have found works better with the leave in and doesn't leave residue for me. But by far the buttercream is a fave, haven't repurchased it in awhile but I miss it. Thanks so much for sharing.

    I loved this review and I just had my TGIN wash day two days ago. Your hair looks beautiful. When I found out about the TGIN Deep Conditioner 2yrs ago I was in love with it but when I repurchased it the results weren't the same and I thought maybe my hair got used to it so I didn't buy it again until recently when I heard that some people had the same issue where they got a bad "batch." I am very impressed with the shampoo and I tried the rinse out conditioner for the first time which I also liked (Next time I will use it after I deep condition like you did) I love the green tea leave in. Now the buttercream I bought awhile ago and I thought I didn't like it because I didn't know how to use it and I was using it as a sealant so I never used it again. This time I used it it as a heavier leave in (hopefully I'll like it)

    I also have low porosity hair and both styling gels and twist out creams flake. I started using my hair dryer with a diffuser on low heat to dry hair right after I finish my twist out. I think it helps the products absorb into the hair shaft. I dry it until I can no longer see any white spots from product on my hair and it seems to work pretty well.

    I think the Moisture Rich Sulfate free shampoo together with the Replenishing Conditioner both from brand name TGIN work great together and then if you blowdry style your hair with the heat protectant spray from brand name "Suavecita" that have safflower oil and Evening Primose oil and also have 450° of heat protection your hair gets and stays smooth for alot of days it can leave the hair a little oily but I think a little oil is no big deal, I use satin pillowcases to sleep at bedtime and I used these products together with the "Head Kandy" brand name blowdryer called the "BFF Dryer" and the blow dry round brush is brand name "Spornett" that is in color light green or metallic green and dark brown

    I’m very disappointed that a product line called TGIN (Thank Goodness I’m Natural) uses silicones. The Honey Hair Mask Deep Conditioner has dimethicone as the last ingredient. I have dry high porosity hair and dimethicone seals my hair cuticles shut so that the moisturizing ingredients don’t completely penetrate - which is what I want a mask to do. So if your are looking for silicone-free products that are “curly girl friendly” be careful with this line read the ingredient list on each of the TGIN products!

    • @sheilaking
      @sheilaking 4 года назад +4

      M M You are so right! Silicones work well for many people & hair types. This is why I spoke of only for myself and warned those like me who it doesn’t work for. Whether it’s intentional or not, the brand name & label can be misleading. Many hair product containers have a long list of “no this & no that”, but that does tell what it has in it. So again, even if a company uses the name “Natural”, get the REAL story by reading the ingredients list. And if your hair thrives from all of the ingredients, ENJOY!
