If you want to have both stop in place and return to start shortcuts, what I've done is set up a marker at the start of the session. So I can stop start in place with the space bar, then do shift+1 to go back to the start. I gave it a go after looking through different shortcut options and it works a treat. Most people work with some kind of mix template so if you add this as part of your template, you won't have to set it up every time. Although it'd be nice if Cubase just did the thing. I want to be able to use double stop to go back to start of selection or project. Like many other daws. Guess it's not possible. Cubase has so many customize options, yet still lacks basic simple quality of life options. For example on Mac you can't use the trackpad to pinch to zoom. This is so annoying.
This is what happens when you let programmers and not you are designers design a program interface. In logic, you go to the beginning of the timeline by pressing enter. That’s it. You can actually set a custom key command to go to the start of the timeline.
