i guess Im asking the wrong place but does any of you know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly forgot my login password. I love any help you can offer me
The part where he talks about people being afraid of Control Room and being like... turn it off... turn it off... TURN IT OFF, had me laughing because I totally did exactly that at first. I just didn't see any point in using it, but now I use it for everything I do. Great video.
It took me several years of using cubase before turning on the control room, but now it’s never being turned off again. I love how I can easily switch between different speakers and headphone, each with different correction plugins.
The more I watch videos like this the more I realize that even though I've been using Cubase for YEARS, I've barely scratched the surface on what it's actually capable of... This is awesome.
You are a Cubase beast sir. I'm going from Cubase 5 🤣 to Cubase 11 Pro 🎉 next week and I've been looking for videos to get me up to speed. I don't need to look any further.
I am a retired musician /teacher and at this stage only plan to use cubase to prepare backing tracks to record my trombone over. After watching this video I've found out how valuable control room even to me a small time user. You explain all things in a way that I can understand with the skill of a master teacher. Thank you Dom.
Thanks for a great video Dom. I've been using Cubase since 1989, when it came out. When the Control Room came out, I used it... but only for the Click level. I am a "one man in the studio doing all the stuff" so I don't need all the stuff I could use the Control Room for. I turned the Control Room off many years ago now. I am a super user of Cubase with over 100 album releases made entirely in Cubase. I can give many reasons why I don't use the Control Room, but the main reason is that Control Room is a extra step that I dont need to take. I am not saying what other users should do, I would not dream of doing that. Enjoy Cubase. A small comment from a happy melody maker.
I got here from one of the Cubase clubs on Facebook... Damn... You are good!!!!!!! You deliver so much of a positive enthusiasm vibe!!! Not only did I learn a lot from this video but it was totally an enjoyable and entertaining experience.... Thank You So Much Dom!!!!
Been using Cubase for 20+ years - your videos allow me to learn about the new features and updates - so I can easily add them into my workflow - I used Control Room - however - your video really opened my eyes to the extent of the Control Room features - thanks!
Control Room is honestly one of the best things about cubase. Dedicated plugins for each output, mono and Dim switch at the stroke of a key. It's one of the handful of things that keeps me in cubase
For years I never used it. The way it was initially marketed made it seem it’s only really useful for large scale studios to route audio to different recording rooms. But it’s so much more. A great referencing tool, the listen feature is useful, especially for things like soloing send FX without the sent audio. Mono mix checking with 1 button, switching outputs with 1 button. Also it’s nice that you can add inserts to it. I have my master chain on the stereo out bus, and all my analysis tools like SPAN, smexoscope, ozillosmegascope, metric A/B & mixed in key studio edition in the control room insert slots and activate them when needed. Highly underrated feature
Thanks Dom! I was one of those users - exactly as you described - "Turn it off... TURN IT OFF!!!" This video really opened my eyes, especially as I'm using multiple sets of monitors now and I can't thank you enough. Absolutely brilliant!
I had a UAD Arrow, which had enough outputs that Control Room became useful to me, based on my knowledge of it then. Then I built an expensive PC, because a similar Mac upgrade would have been $12K more expensive, and had to downgrade to a UR22C so my wife wouldn’t be too upset about my getting a compatible interface on top of the PC. Now that I have an Audient id44, I’ve been getting back into CR’s features. This just opened my eyes to how useful it will be going forward. Thanks, as always, for the incredibly helpful content!
Control Room, wow what a feature. Thanks to Control room I now connect all my external Compressors and effects straight into one of my 16 analog inputs and outputs of my Motu interface directly and send straight to them from control room. This way I don’t have to patch. Great video, you’ve made some changes in my studio. I can see some people still haven’t jumped on bird with Cubase because there’s a few thumbs down. Don’t hate peoples, the video is great and cubase is the route to take. I started with Cubase SL years ago and tried many other production daws and always found my way back to cubase. Thanks for the video, you got my sub
Finally someone who understands Cubase and knows its values! There are so many people out there who hate Cubase for its sometimes janky controls and behavior.
After seeing this masterclass, I can't imagine mixing without the control room! the L function is wonderful! Do it press that button CR right now!!! I've been using CUBASE for two weeks, amazing how the work flows! I have decided to definitely change my DAW. Thanks for your videos Mister DOM!
I just did a recording session for my band, we only get together about twice a year, and I had a lot of the issues you mentioned about each member having their own headphone mix that would’ve been solved if using Cubase instead of Logic, would have saved myself a lot of headaches. I just upgraded my Cubase to the "Pro" version, I hope Steinberg pays you a salary for all the great information you provide and in an entertaining and easy to understand manner (and if they do they should give you a raise)!!!
Many thanks for this video because I wasn't sure about the purposes of control room as I am still learning. I absolutely love your enthusiasm and I live for the BOOM references.
Thank you so much. I'm coming back to Cubase since Cubase 5, and I love all the changes. I'm learning a lot with your advices. Thanks, love from Mexico
Love it! Since today control room is ON! My first cubase was no.4 many many years ago...2001/2002. no yt, no books to learn how to use the cubase. Now with your channel life is simpler and I can enjoy making music using all what the cubase offer. Thx!
I wish I knew about the Monitoring Inserts in the Control Room 10 years ago, holy crap that's what I've been looking for. I always used it on my master channel and had to constantly re-open my plugins whenever I would "close all" (which I use often, bound to ctrl+w). But I hated that it would close my meters as well. Been learning so much from your vids Dom, thanks much!
I have just purchased Cubase 12 pro and discovered the control room in your video. I just said whaoo! The biggest tip to work quickly and clearly pro. By the way, I was using an old Cubase Sx and there is so many new functions to discover and practice. Thank you so much Dom, you’re a great teacher. 😎👍👍👍
Ace video... I'd only been using the control room to flip between mono and stereo. This is a real eye opening video - now got all my monitoring options set up, and it's amazing got checking references. Loving your work keep it up 👍👍👍
Big Dom thank you very much for this video honestly I did not use the control room and fantastic the fact of controlling the metronome and very convenient to lower the general volume without the red wheel and not having to turn down from the sound card and fantastic today I discovered the control room of the my CUBASE thank you again Dom 5 star tutorial
This is a game changer for me ❤! This may be an older video but it’s super informative for sure. Dom is like some kind of awesome Jedi Cubase master and now I’m hooked on beige watching all this his content.😂
Great video Dom! For those who think they won’t bother with cues because they only record solo, consider the advantage when you’ve already spent hours settings your mix levels, then you want to record an extra track but with a different mix to play along to eg louder drums and base, the cues to headphones is a great solution. Even when you’re the other side of the room for better acoustics and you use IC pro app remotely on your iPad, because that app has the 4 ‘cue mixes’ in settings and is fantastic.
The more that I hear you speak about all the awesome features that are available in Cubase Pro, the more I think about ditching my digital console. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Thank you so much ! I have been working with Cubase since the very beginning. Your channel is a great gift to both new beginners as well to ex- professional musicians like me. Thanks again. it helps me a lot. Chris From Sweden
Your videos are amazing and easy to understand even for a frenchy like me ! I love particulary your Lacrimosa, and I have bought Iconica and Eatwest Choir after this video !
You are a wonderful person. Please explain to us the inputs for a compressor in Qubis, the mono and stereo inputs and outputs to connect to a compressor or any other hardware.
Small things makes Great things ! Thanks Cubase, thanks Dom, thanks Popey ! This Popey T-Shirt is the best one for your videos, you should have it all the time ! Hehe !
My first daw purchase was cubase 5 retail version which came with the e-licenser in 2010, as my migration from a Roland FANTOM X8 which I had used for 3yesrs as my Exclusive workstation for production. The main reason I purchased Cubase is because of the control room option. I looked at logic, and protools and saw that they did not have that option and that made me realize how much more advanced a DAW Cubase is.
I just got a Focusrite X2P setup in a recording booth and the Dante network routing took a couple hours to figure out, but Cubase control room made setting it up much easier than it would have been otherwise. It's definitely an awesome tool.
I started using control room today. I have set up A/B referencing from the other video tutorial. Then I realized it's not what I needed right now, but it's very cool to have that when I need it some time. Now to learn about the other things that control room can do for me.
Hi awesome and amazing Dom! How do set up the media bay to playback and have the control room enabled? I can only disconnect the control room to hear the media bay loops and samples. I use a RME fireface for my monitors and a UA Apollo for my interface. Thanks!
Haven't used it in years, started using it thanks to Dom, happy ever since ! Great to see I learned some more about it today. Again Dom you're the best !
Love to watch your enthusiasm in this video. Thank you for holding up this amazing content. I've used Cubase for years and i always learn something new by watching your videos. Thank you! God bless you.
Never! Never forgot calibration on. Nope. *cough* Thank you very much for this to-the-point introduction! I was aware of the CR, but never got around to set it up. This pushed me over the edge, and now I have speakers and two pairs of headphones running with their respective calibrations at all times, and some nice analyzers and stuff on the master, all without interfering with projects and export. Brilliant feature!
Had Cubase since 5 & only very recently properly looked into CR & set it up for monitors, 2 different headphones & references. Loving it so far but It’s a bit of an odd setup as my interface has 6 1/4” line outs & two headphone jacks, but headphone 1 is a copy of line outs 3-4 & headphone 2 a copy of line outs 5-6. As you can only have one Headphone out in CR (seems odd), I’ve set up 3 monitors instead & key commands to switch from Speakers, to Headphone 1 or 2 & another key command to switch the Source from Mix to a Reference Cue. Oh & I’ve several references on track versions with more key commands to change through them. 🙂 Bit odd but I want different headphone outs for different Reference 4 EQs. Loving it! Cheers
Like many other people I was scared at first and didn't think it was useful for me in my homestudio environment: But then I finally looked into it and now I love. It just took some time to find out how it works but now I regret not using it earlier. It's like...I could have done it without CR but it's so much easier
Came here to check whether I can add Sonarworks Reference to the Monitoring FXs in CR (without worrying about the bounce process) and learned so much more, eg. using reference tracks more effectively etc. Thanks a lot.
I was one of those who was afraid of Control Room, lol. Thought it was for people who use Cubase for live performances! Thanks man, you opened my eyes.
Reason Number 6: Talkback to your artist on his headphones. I set up a keyboard shortcut on < to easily activate/deactivate my talkback microphone, because the headphone are running through an output on my interface, but my desktop monitor controller only gets the sound of the main output from Control Room, so I can‘t use the built headphone outputs and the built in talkback microphone.
Started to use Control Room after watching this inspirational video ! It's the way to go, actually the only way :) Lost the metronome sound, but you covered that as well in the video.
The control room is great. Especially the "Listen" function, when it comes to reverb-channels or other effects. My initial idea was to put a "super vision" on the insert effects to analyse the selected tracks. Unfortunately the inserts come after changing the volume or adding the metronome to the control room. It is still possible to use it without modifying the volume inside control room and of course switching off the metronome (you would anyway do it, when analysing a sound :-) ). But it would be great to define the effects as real pre-inserts.
And I have became a huge fan of your channel during the last week and this week. So much valuable information explained in a easy to understand manner. Really good.
You da man! I do reference but I did not think of using the control room for that. I was the 3rd party plug-in & switch hardware guy. SMH. I have been using Cubase for over a decade.
From now on, I will always use the CR. Thank you for your help to see, who helpful the tool is. I love your channel... and "I will follow you..." Thumbs up!
Nice video! I’ve got nothing but love for the control room. Haha, yeah, who haven’t accidentally bounced a copy using room correction eq’s on the master bus 😂 CR really has a lot of really great functionality! Thanks a lot. Cheers // Wince
Agree with every comment here. The difference between Cubase and other DAWs is not features - it’s DOM. I just don’t have time for a software that doesn’t also have a time savior and skill guru. Dom, if C12 added any details or functionality to Control Room that would benefit from another tutorial, please do an updated video on Control Room! thanks much
i love control room but i only use cue when tracking. i can A/B easily by sending reference tracks directly to stereo out while sending my groups to a mastering group. honestly don't know why we would need Cue for a/b comparisons? gainstaging cues can be tricky when you have many tracks and groups. i usually switch on cue only on the mix stem channels ( e.g.guits / keys / drums / vocals) and the recorded channel for monitoring.
Good evening Dom. I met you at Gearfest today. My name is Ishmael and I’m a multi instrumentalist composer etc. I had to leave your MasterClass early because of the attention span of my little one. Just passing through to say hi, it was a pleasure meeting you.
Just turned it on. I was afraid and didn’t know what it could do. I can only route it to the headphones or the mix but with my headphone mixer I can do a lot more. At least I can set up a head mix without messing around with muting channel etc. NICE job teaching me about a tool I have but was afraid to use.
Excellent. I've been using CR but learned a lot from your video! Yet another reason for Control Room is that when you finally try VST Connect Pro for the now very necessary capability of remote recording, you will absolutely need to understand Control Room, especially Cues and Cue sends.
I just turned on Control Room this morning permanently, after trying for months to figure out its relevance. Cubase was my first DAW. But I guess I got tempted by the hype around Pro Tools being the Industry Standard, and also after enrolling in a Berklee course on Mixing, I found they use PT to teach. So I subscribed to PT at the student price. I took a month's crash course to get going on PT before my mixing classes started. Everything went well. I learnt a lot of skills on PT given that classes were taught on it, but I also began to realize the strengths of Cubase. It's a pain in the **** to A/B a reference in PT. I began to see the many strengths of Cubase that I took for granted. The Q-link for example frees your left hand (whereas PT you would have to use both hands to assign common operations on multiple tracks; Both hands also to open and close the mix window-Cubase is just F3; The list is so so many) I used a spreadsheet and populated all the workflow comparisons, strengths and weaknesses after many months of using both Cubase and PT side by side. It was a painstaking operation. The differences and workflow time savings blew me away. I've ditched PTs and been full-time on Cubase. I still open it for past projects, but I can't imagine sacrificing the time-saving of Cubase for PT. The Control Room alone trumps other DAWs and PT in particular. I don't regret using PT cos it made my courses at Berklee easy to relate with and not trying to figure out the equivalent uses in Cubase as the course went on. Everything fell into place after the course, and opened my understanding about the strengths of Cubase. End of Story.
dom sigalas , you`re the best ! massive information per miute and not boring at all ! of cource i use cr now . another reason to stay with steinberg and buy the updates .
Brooooooo! Yessssss. I love you. It's worth just for the metering alone. I was always scared of Control room, but now I can use my headphones too (I just couldn't set them up normally, don't know why). You rock!
Oh wow, you just taught me so much! I actually do have control room enabled but I was using less than half the features you showed here. Thank you for making me take more notice. I never knew Listen Dim existed - that's so useful!
I'm using Control Room for the metering, easier control over the click track, the "L"-button and it's really useful to be able to add inserts there for room correction. But the way I have things set up is that my mixbus is not the master bus, but a subgroup that is routed to the master bus. All my mixed tracks go to this "mixbus" subgroup (not immediately to the master bus). My mixbus plugins go on that subgroup, but not on the master bus. There's nothing on the master bus that changes the sound (just things like spectral analyzers and such). The reason I've set it up like that is mainly just for reference tracks. They are muted but go straight to the master bus (not the mixbus subgroup). Whenever I want to reference I just solo a reference track.
GREAT VIDEO! Just discovered your channel! Im an experienced engineer but recently moved to cubase and your videos take me right to places I need to know more of! THANKS!!!!
Great video Dom! The control room is great for so many things, even if you haven't got a band to send cues, to,ha,ha.Beautiful big meters for loudness to name but a few, many choices I have a Reastream and a limiter in the control room as inserts ready to go.And Izotope Nectar 3 for my podcast dialogue in my cue send section. The Control room is my best friend, even as a hobbyist, lol
I love the talkback on the controlroom ! But it so much need a listen back chanel !! When recording heavy drum you want to hear your drummer with a dédicated voice mic that open only on command !
There are at least three other ways to do audio setups without the Control Room, which are, in many ways, more direct and more accessible merely by using the default setups Cubase ships with. That includes cues and monitoring. But the vibes of using the Control room, ooooo. 😎👍
Great Explanation, I've never knew what Control Room is for? And after this video you have opened my eyes, i definitely give it a shoot and try Control Room now. And nice that some people like you do great Cubase tutorials :) Thanks for your hard work to share this knowledge with us. 🙏🙏🙏🙏 😊😊😊😊
Great Dom. I'd used Control Room on my last track for the the A-B comparison but now I realise it can do so much more. I'm definitely going to keep it enabled. Thanks as always for these incredible tips
Hi, Dom. It would be great if you could make a video about how to set up Control Room with Apollo Twin USB. There isn't much helpful out there on routing properly or why one would want to use Control Room with Apollo.
Great video. Cubase Pro 12 new license system means I can have control room on my laptop on location. Really struggled monitoring with Cubase elements in the past! Thanks
I have used CB from Atari to this monster and although I've been subscribed for a quite while now, I've just seen two awsum vids of yours (inc this one) I must have missed since updating from 10.5 to 11 just to see how many things I have been ignoring through these years ... and there are loads ... but I have to say, I've never even felt a need for the Control room since it's inception 'as a go to'. Never took the time to understand it, didn't think I needed to ... until now !, this is gonna help loads ! and to think, I would never have known .... Many thanks for the heads up mate.
I've used cubase for years... And this channel has opened my eyes to features I'd never even thought of. Cheers mate!
Me too!
wow!! it's a little intimidating at first but we will get over it quick!
thanks for sharing the good news!!!

I didn’t know control room was holding so many amazing features! That video is probably one of the most relevant for cubase users. Cheers Dom!
I didn’t know about the “cue sends - use current mix levels” command. Brilliant, thank you, I definitely need to get into using cue sends more...

Thanks Don, this video gives me a chance to work with Control Room because until now I didn't understand how it works.👍🙂
Nope. *cough*
Thank you very much for this to-the-point introduction!
Loving it! Cheers
Control was a must for me for many years. Thanks for a great channel
Like many other people I was scared at first and didn't think it was useful for me in my homestudio environment:
But then I finally looked into it and now I love.
Amazing! I knew the CR is there but had no idea what to do with it. Thanks for your explanations and enthusiasm.
Man where have you been all my life. I’ve learned more in this video than I have the entire 7 years I’ve been using Cubase.
Bro! I have always been confused about the benefit of control room.. No longer! Thanks so much for explaining this
Reason Number 6: Talkback to your artist on his headphones. I set up a keyboard shortcut on < to easily activate/deactivate my talkback microphone, because the headphone are running through an output on my interface, but my desktop monitor controller only gets the sound of the main output from Control Room, so I can‘t use the built headphone outputs and the built in talkback microphone.
Great video man! I never knew what CR can do!! Definitely I will give it more interest!
I love your work Dom!! Thanks for your passion!
Started to use Control Room after watching this inspirational video ! It's the way to go, actually the only way :) Lost the metronome sound, but you covered that as well in the video.
Hi thank you very much. I have started using control room. And just trying to understand it more
The control room is great.
Thanks Dom, I didn't know about the A/B referencing capabilities through CR. You also gave me an idea with the CR inserts.
You are the best tutor for me! Please dont leave us with cub 13 cub 14....😃 Thank you Dom!
You da man! I do reference but I did not think of using the control room for that. I was the 3rd party plug-in & switch hardware guy. SMH. I have been using Cubase for over a decade.
Dom, U Rock Boddy, I Just Learned what Cue Mixes Are really all About, And I'm in Love with them.
Thanks!
Thank you so much my friend, highly appreciated ❤️
This is such an enjoyable video! I've gone back to it to check up on some items and can't help smiling with you Dom!
Excellent. I've been using CR but learned a lot from your video!
Yet another reason for Control Room is that when you finally try VST Connect Pro for the now very necessary capability of remote recording, you will absolutely need to understand Control Room, especially Cues and Cue sends.
When you come from Pro tools, Control room is a game changer. I love it!!! Cheers
You rock!
Great stuff. I use controlroom, but there is alot of stuff here I did not know. Thanks!
Excellent tutorial. First thing I'm gonna do on my next Cubase session is set up control room.
The control room is great for so many things, even if you haven't got a band to send cues, to,ha,ha.Beautiful big meters for loudness to name but a few, many choices
I have a Reastream and a limiter in the control room as inserts ready to go.And Izotope Nectar 3 for my podcast dialogue in my cue send section.
The Control room is my best friend, even as a hobbyist, lol
I love the talkback on the controlroom ! But it so much need a listen back chanel !! When recording heavy drum you want to hear your drummer with a dédicated voice mic that open only on command !
Your video revealed to me why I could n't hear the metronome anymore :D Thank you so much for that
Thanks for this Dom, I started using it more when tracking other people but I never used it's full capabilities.
There are at least three other ways to do audio setups without the Control Room, which are, in many ways, more direct and more accessible merely by using the default setups Cubase ships with. That includes cues and monitoring.
But the vibes of using the Control room, ooooo.
😎👍
Magic! I will now be using control room!!
Cheers!
Great Explanation, I've never knew what Control Room is for? And after this video you have opened my eyes, i definitely give it a shoot and try Control Room now. And nice that some people like you do great Cubase tutorials :) Thanks for your hard work to share this knowledge with us. 🙏🙏🙏🙏 😊😊😊😊
Great Video! I underestimated this tool for years. Thanks a lot :)
Amazing ! Turning it back on now!
Can't believe I found your channel just now after the release of cubase 11.
Great info. I been wondering how this worked.
Will be using for now on
